So today I called Vogels around 10:26 to get an estimate done for insurance on my 2010 Chevy Impala. I was instantly turned down and said "no we can't do that". I was surprised because I have brought them previously a car and sent them a lot of work over the years. So let me tell you about the LONG HAUL on your vehicle if you bring it here to Vogels. I would know about long term on a vehicle from them because they did a Job for me in 2015 on my 97 Camaro. This place is decent place to bring your vehicle if you need something fix short term but long term not worth it to ME. To others they are worth it but they don't restore cars really just fix them. I brought these guys my 97 Camaro back in 2015. Let me tell you what it WASN'T worth the price they charged me 6500-7k and or it felt like I was getting harassed by the owner about paying them. Normally you pay for a job when it's finished but he was eager to collect some before starting it and during before he finished the Camaro. I had to pay before they finished which felt like I was being scammed but I was in a tight pinch and had to get it done. After finally paying them in full they finished it up and said we will detail it up nice for you but the rushed they detail guy and I had wax all over the Camaro. Even the detail guy complained about being rushed. I even mentioned the green paint I could still see but they didn't fix it or nothing. I was super bummed about this but I was still happy to get my 97 Camaro back on the road and drive it. Mind you this 97 Camaro sat after it got "restored"from Vogels. Nothing wrong with it but all the imperfections they left, all the chipped and cracked paint I found and the green paint from the donor parts they used to fix it that you could still see in areas. The Camaro wasn't very professional done at all and the service I got from them especially from the owner himself was good and all till the demanded payment. Then it felt like a scam and it felt like I was being harassed. Now 10 years later I have to repay someone to fix all those paint chips, all the cracked panels and a lot more. So in my opinion it's not worth it because 10 years later and 6500 bucks wasted to repay another person. About the same or more to make it look brand new even better then show room quality they said just like Vogel's promised me but Vogels couldn't handle it. Edit : So after I posted this because I got a phone call at 11:17 from there Shop manager or whatever he is there. His name was Eric. He called me asked me why I would leave a negative review because they refused to take a quote from me earlier today? Then proceeded to say I called them because I had an insurance quote done and I wanted them to add more on? WTF? How is that possible when my accident just happen at 9:33 am. So how did I have time to get a quote and call you to ask you to change that quote? So now I'm more annoyed because they tried to call me out on something I didn't even say. All I said was "can I get an estimate done today for an insurance quote". He then proceeded to tell me IDK why you're posting your Camaro now. It's been 10 years and we didn't harass you. He said "we have to get some up front or all especially when it's not an insurance quote because we gotta pay outta packet for materials"? Really? You have to pay for materials? Wow that's crazy. What about regular mechanics or other shops? They don't ask up front for any money. However I was fine putting a down payment down back then. It was the owner calling me demanding money from me time and time again multiple times and said he couldn't fix it till I did. That sounds like harassment to me. Their excuse was "well sometimes people have us fix it but then not come back at all after we finish". I said "not my fault don't judge a book by its cover. You guys are judging people and will only work on cars with insurance claims unless they are GUARANTEED the money before they finish the vehicle". 1 read more

I was running some errands and noticed my car had a flat. I took it to the nearest auto repair shop, and I am extremely thankful it was this shop. The guys in the office jumped right up to help and had my tire fixed in under 30 minutes. I went to pay and they said it was on the house. These guys are absolute class and if I ever have any car issues in the future this will definitely be where I take my car. read more

My rear bumper was partially torn off and Vogel's did excellent repair quickly and at reasonable cost (right at estimate). I had gone to PO (1 block away) to mail package while car was being worked on and fallen down. Eric was so kind getting me hydrogen peroxide and bandages to take care of scraped knee. Fortunately they expedited the work as other ankle was swelling up and ultimately I couldn't step on that foot... Eric patiently walked me to car and got me on the road home! Couldn't give them a lower rating for their poor paint workmanship. The paintjob they did started to bubble and ended up blowing up after washing the car. The owner claimed the car was impacted by touching the chipped section of paint with his hand! The primer coat is untouched and clearly shows that the paint layer was lifting off the primer. The road grime had caked into the lifted and cracking paint from a long road trip over the holidays and I even showed him high definition photos to prove it! The owner dismissed the photos as they were PROOF of what actually happened to the paint! There is a lot more to be seen from a 4k image than from a man wearing corrective lenses. Take a look at the primer.. Completely untouched and you can clearly see where the paint bubbled and then blew out after a car wash.. I hand wash my car twice a week and have never once have had a gouge on the rear bumper since they painted the car.. The paint damage started from where the two bumper sections meet where the paint job was clearly weak.. So the owner instead of warranting the poor paint job offered to have it repainted for $600.00...no thanks I may look young, but ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT be taken advantage of.. I couldn't be more unhappy with them and the poor workmanship they provided. Own up and fix your mistake! I'll take my business elsewhere and really hope you do too if you do not want to deal with a headache down the road. It's really too bad because they are a family owned business and I thought they would be better than that. I have all the proof in different photos and different sections of the bumper to showcase the awful paint work. Do yourself a favor.. Find a different place that ACTUALLY warranties their work. read more

Vogel's have not attempted to contact me at any point to resolve this issue or to address my concerns of "discrimination," and ill treatment by their staff. Instead they rather submit a written response to address the public. Additionally, they have resulted to continued insults. I have not posted identical reviews on another business's page. However, I have received notice of their response to my complaint that I filed with BBB, today. That is no longer valid for my rebuttal. I've had the opportunity to read the response. Their response to my BBB complaint is completely different than this one. In it I am being insulted and they are reluctance to take ownership of the bad experience that I had with their business. That felt like I was being treated badly because of the color of my skin and/or sexual orientation. This is no laughing matter and certainly not an issue that the antagonist gets to resolve by claiming to be offended as well. It's obvious what kind of people are running this company into the ground. Vogel's response seems well rehearsed with almost perfect timing. Almost as if they are accustom to getting bad reviews and complaints filed. Poor customer service is a tragedy. A simple phone call of an apology from superiors would have been nice. A goodwill gesture of some sort would have been totally unexpected. Given the circumstances it is safe to assume that the "area" at which Vogel's Collision is located could careless about improving their "poor customer service" and "quality of service". I assume this from having personally worked in the area as well. No one has observed the fact that I was hung up on, several times is the reason for my repeated calls from cell phone. Furthermore, a diverse group of employees does not make an individual "not" treat someone of darker skin and/or opposite sex poorly. In response to your claim, maybe training on how to have a working relationship "professionalism" in your community is vital. We have had several of our cars repaired here and the work has always been well done. Above and beyond the quality of work, though, I really appreciate their customer service. I stopped in today to have them look at my front bumper (my daughter rolled the car into our garage door.) The man who came out to give the estimate thought the fix was simple enough that he could do it right then. He got a few tools set to work fixing my vehicle on the spot. Within a few minutes, he had the front end put back together and I was on my way. I was floored when I was told there was no charge. I appreciate that they aren't just out to make a buck. Vogel's is an honest and friendly collision shop and I highly recommend them for both the service and skill. read more

This is a good body shop. They were able to do about 80% of what I needed them to do on my van. They welded, painted, grinded, etc and did a good job. The only thing they could not do was a frame pull but that's only because my van is very heavy duty and needs a stronger pulling machine. If you have a normal car, you should be fine with Vogel's. In my case they owned up to that particular limitation, gave prompt service with good communication, and gave a partial refund for not being able to do a complete frame pull. Vogel's is the only collision center that my family uses and trusts. They are always fast, reliable, and display excellent workmanship. We have used them a couple times in the past decade and their work is always perfect. Recently, I had paint work done that turned out slightly off and they were more than happy to correct the mistake for free (as well as touch up another spot on the car for free!), which was a display of their great customer service, their pride in their work, and their concern for their customers' satisfaction. Vogel's has been in business for 70 years, and their quality of work and their care for their customers shows that they deserve that longevity. I highly recommend Vogel's to anybody who needs body work done on their cars, and I will always go to them if the need arises. 5 stars! read more

I would suggest you steer clear of this place. I originally went here based on my insurer's recommendation. I should have known better. They did a very poor job on my rear bumper and rear door. When I brought this to the owner's attention he became defensive and angry. The door would not even close. It doesn't take a mechanic to realize that. He told me "I needed to put more strength" into shutting my door. He was condescending and did not apologize for the shop's mistake. Never again. Steer clear! read more

You can tell why this place has been around forever. I brought my car in for a repair to one of the side molding pieces that I stupidly scraped up. While it was there, they also repaired scratches to the clear coat and paint on the roof at no cost. The repair was completely unrelated, not covered by insurance, and they did it anyway. My tire blew on the highway on my way home and I happened to pull over onto the street where Vogel's is located, and the two men there saved me! They were actually on their way out when they saw me, and without hesitating told me I could pull in so that they could help. Took my car here to have my door fixed after it blow into another car during a high wind storm and suffered damage. My insurance company recommend 3 places, I really wanted to use someone else who I had used with 5 star results in the past but I went with Vogel's due to insurance and locations location. Boy I sure wish I had gone with my choice. First the price was about $50 dollars more. I figure the point of repair is to fix it so you cannot tell there was damage. Well it looks like a bad bondo(?) job. In the sunlight my car looks like crap. I will be calling my insurance company to see if I can get someone to fix the car right. When I picked up my car is was a mess inside. Dust everywhere!!! I had also asked twice if they could touch up a spot on my other door both times I was assured they would but they did not. I believe I have only been treated worse by a business owner on one other occasion in my life. We took our car in for service & told it should be ready on Wednesday. We called on Wed. a.m. and were told it would be ready "anytime after 3pm". We arrived at 3:15, paid, and then STOOD in the "waiting room" for 45 minutes until the car was really ready. During that time, none of the three men sitting there poking at their computers offered us a chair, offered us coffee, or made eye contact. None said they were sorry for the delay. When we inspected the car, we noticed scratches on the driver's door that were not there when we took it in to Vogel's. When we pointed these out, the owner very rudely said, repeatedly, "I don't scratch cars!". I felt quite intimidated and bullied. I pointed out that I was not happy with the service and that I was the customer. He countered, "I am the owner!". Eventually, he had a man take the car away to buff out the scratches. 45 minutes later, the car came back. About half of the scratches were buffed out; we pointed that out and the man admitted that he hadn't see them all, even though they were all on the lower quarter of the driver's door. The "owner" was very brusque, kept walking away from us while we were talking to him. At that point, we noticed a tear in the rear bumper that was not there when we took the car in. Again the owner denied any responsibility. After an hour and 45 minutes there, we simply left, realizing that we didn't trust that we would get any satisfaction. read more

I grew up near Winton and Blossom and we had a repair or two done at Vogel's in the 1970s and '80s. This shop has been around since 1948. They do towing, painting, body work and glass replacement -- mainly paid by insurance companies -- like most collision shops. What really distinguishes Vogel's is their honesty. My 86-year-old mother just returned to Rochester after living in Florida for nearly 30 years. She pulled into Vogel's and asked for an estimate to get her 16-year-old car ready for the harsh Rochester winter. The guys at Vogel's told her not to invest a lot of money in her car and told her they'd do a few spot paint fixes for her whenever she drove by. They also pushed a piece of loose moulding back into place. Mom was happy that the "experts" had deemed her car winter-worthy and Vogel's fought back the urge to pocket hundreds of dollars in unnecessary sanding, puttying and painting. I went here last year on a friends recommendation. I had a tree branch dropped on my car by a tree service crew. These guys were down the road, the estimate was professional. My claims adjuster said they were good as well. I dropped it off, they told me it would be two weeks. I waited three, called, and got a "Oh, no one called you?" Response. Telling me they needed time for a part to come in, it would be another week and it would be done. No call after a week, I call and get the same response, literally. I wait one more and call again and they say it has been done for a week, why haven't I picked it up(keep in mind no one called to tell me this). I go in to pay, they say "You want to pay with a card?! They charge me a fee!" They refuse my payment, its 2018, we all use cards! I go to get cash since I have no personal checks, when I bring that he scoffs at me like I handed him trash. At this point I receive my keys, the inside of my vehicle is filthy, overspray dust all over the seats. Someone's lunch garbage in the back, and broken taillight bulbs as well. I ask them about it and they have a mechanic wipe the seat with a greasy rag... I accept this to just get out of there. On my way back to work I try and adjust my mirror(not damaged in the accident) and it doesn't work, and there is also a huge crack in my dash(also not there before). I called to ask about it and the owner yelled at me, saying I was blaming them. I bring it back and he says "Oh yeah, we forgot to plug the mirror back in." No apology for the rudeness. They hold onto it to fix the crack, tell me the part is unavailable after two weeks and send me on my way... ugly cracked dash, overspray on the inside of my vehicle and on my rear widow(tape lines visible) window molding falling off and no resolution. If I could afford it, I'd sue this place. DO NOT USE THEM. read more

I went personally over to Vogel's after my accident to talk to them. The guy who handled my repair looked me right in the eye and promised me that all brand new OEM parts would be used and that my car would look perfect afterwards. To any sane person, "OEM" means Original Equipment, and BRAND NEW parts. After picking up my car, and again being told flat out that all new OEM parts were used and that they "really went to bat" for me with my insurance company over it, I started noticing all the little things wrong with it. The biggest offenses were: - A chunk out of the corner of the windshield - Scrapes/scratches and discoloration on the top and sides of the "new" headlights - Big gaps between the bumper and the headlights (could stick your index finger in the gap) - Fender not quite aligned right and popping out - Noises from the suspension - White specs of compound left all over the place under the hood After bringing it back to them several times to try to rectify the problem, I was given an attitude and snipped at by the older gentleman (owner?) that works there, telling me the gaps in the bumper were "as good as it was going to get" and that they "bent over backwards" by having a mechanic grease my suspension to try to remove the noise. Funny part is, even one of the other guys that works there listened to the noises coming from the suspension the first time I came back, and said "geez that sounds like a blown strut" but the decision makers just sent it over to get "greased up" again at whatever crap shop they use for mechanical fixes. After the last trip to Vogel's where I was given attitude and told "that's as good as it's going to get", I called my insurance company. They apologized and sent an adjuster to my house to look at what I was claiming was wrong. He immediately agreed that the work was sub-standard and authorized me to go to another body shop of my choosing to get everything mentioned above redone and reworked. I brought my car over to my original dealer I bought the car from, who also have a Toyota certified body shop on site. Not only were they able to quickly identify that there was a major problem with the bumper and headlights, and that there were several clips missing from one side of the bumper, but they also were able to determine that my struts in the front were damaged in the accident and needed to be replaced (no amount of greasing can help that), as well as determined that Vogel's had not properly measured and bent back the radiator mount that was damaged in the crash, which the bumper attached to, and was causing the majority of the bumper gaps and alignment issues. They also found a bunch of shins Vogel's shoved in behind the headlamp assembly to try and fix the gaps, so Vogel's didn't even really try to fix it when I brought it back to them, they just shoved some metal/plastic shims in there and called it a day. Junk. Vogel's did a terrible job with the work, treated me like crap in the end, and wound up cutting so many corners that several things had to be done completely over again. The headlights were obviously taken off some junkyard wreck, which is why they were yellowed and scratched, and tried to pass them off as new OEM. I'm not even convinced the windshield needed replacing in the first place (I saw no cracks initially), but then they replaced it and the windshield was chipped in the corner, so whoever they used for that doesn't know how to install windshields without damaging them. And a major noise coming from my suspension they passed off as a "strut bar that needed greasing", which doesn't even make any sense since a strut bar should never make noise like that. They talk a big game, but when it comes down to it they were out for themselves and their bottom line. Stay away from these guys. Their work looks good at first, but you will notice all the corners and cheapskate cuts they take once you take a closer look. If you do use them, don't leave the lot before you go over their work with a fine tooth comb. read more

Last winter I was in a crash and took my first vehicle there, which ended up being a total loss, so there was no money in it for them. Despite this, they were still extremely accommodating and courteous, so when a deer hit my second vehicle I knew where I wanted to take it. The car now looks and drive like new, and the work was completed ahead of schedule! read more

As that estimate was about 2.5 times the estimate I received around the corner at Artisan's Collision Center, that's where I took my car, which I picked up this afternoon. It was ready ahead of schedule. I was charged exactly the amount on the estimate. The service was friendly and professional. My car was side-swiped and had infractions on the entire driver's side. In addition, I had some minor damage on the passenger's side which I had wanted fixed. I did not expect a lot when I walked in but was pleasantly surprised when an estimator made many calls for parts and appeared to get the best price and work done for the money spent. He gave me an estimate for the passenger's side but subtracted any double billing that would have been covered by the driver's side accident. I might not have noticed this and appreciated his honesty. They also credited me for double billing after the work was done and additional money was saved. Since the work would take a week, they scheduled a rental car for me from the insurance company. The rental car was conveniently there when I turned in the vehicle for the scheduled work. I thought they were very professional and honest. After this, my husband brought his 2005 vehicle in for slight repairs and painting. He was also very pleased with the professionalism and work done to make it look new again. He had gone to another collision shop but felt he was not treated well and the estimate did not include additional steps that were included by Vogel's read more

I was completely disappointed with not only the way my car looked, but also with how rudely the owner treated me. I had to leave my car there twice because the first repair attempt looked terrible. Hindsight is 20/20 ... but I sure wish I had just taken it somewhere else after the first go-round, because it still looked like a quickie job that they tried to do as cheaply as possible when I picked it up the second time. Out in the sun the "repaired" roof had a million tiny scratches on it from their buffing. And dents. And deer hoof mark remnants from the deer collision (the accident that brought me there). Even my different repair guy (see below) was dismayed at the crap job they'd done and he could tell they cut major corners right off the bat. It's like they didn't even inspect my car before telling me to come pick it up because it was all done. This was a brand new 2017 car off the lot, and it looked worse in many ways when I picked it up at Vogel's than when I dropped it off. I was so disappointed and upset. This was my first brand new car and I was so distraught that it would never look nice again. I finally spoke with the owner after the second repair attempt, who treated me in a cocky and dismissive way. I just couldn't see giving him more business after the attitude I got. He acted like I had somehow created the damage and rambled on about how long he'd been in business and that he always did the best work. I called my insurance to see if I could take it somewhere else. I had to meet an adjuster at my work place, who agreed the repair work was substandard. Thankfully, I found someone else to fix it properly the first time (see my review for Al Raymond in Canandaigua) .... after lots of wasted time, money, stress and rental car hassles. Seriously... This is my third time to Vogels Collision. First two experiences , work was fine no complaints. My third experience, I took my porsche to get rear damage repaired and was told it would take 5 days to complete. There was another week added in for time because of availability of parts. Checked in with them on the third week and car was finished but wrong color, another week to repaint correct color. Damage was done from technician to interior pocket of drivers door and left in pieces without notifying me and had to leave another day to fix along with additional scratches which needed to be polished out. The following morning after finally receiving my car I noticed a panel fit problem on bottom passenger quarter panel and rear bumper seam . This fit is suppose to be approximately a 1/4" equal proportioned reveal but was tight on one end to 3/4" gap at other. When I arrived I shop and told Barry I had some concerns , I was told " your not going to nickel and dime me to death". After looking at the improper alignment, Barry said he would need additional monies to fix properly. If the technician aligned it right and the original fix when auto was dismantled if would not have to be done twice as with the case of painting. Bottom line, their arrogance and poor customer service, I will never bring another vehicle to them or recommend to anyone. read more

around last year, i had to have my windshield replaced. I figured it would be pretty straight forward since these people do this kind of work. i was very wrong! The first thing i did was shop around for pricing. I got a direct price from safelite auto glass. and i went into Vogels where i can deal directly with someone. I decided to get a direct quote as if i did not have insurance to see what my maximum out of pocket could be. I decided to go with vogels since they were right around the corner form where i work. After my insurance company decided they would not cover this even though I have glass coverage , one of the "part time" guys spoke with the insurance rep. The vogel's guy says its all set, that the insurance company would cover it. So of course i go ahead and have vogels replace my windshield. After the windshield was replaced, i get a bill from vogels for way more than their quote. I was not to worried since vogels straightened the mess out with my insurance company. come to find out they never straightened out anything. i get a call from my insurance company letting me know that there is a deductible that i have to pay. at this point i was extremely frustrated and annoyed. i was taken for a bate and switch. i found myself getting calls from vogels looking for payment. I explained to them that i was still working on the situation. I went into Vogels to try and get this mess fixed. That was my second mistake. As i am talking to one of the guys that work in the office, he starts yelling at me like i am some little child! I just about lost my patience, but i decided to just get this experience behind me. I explained to him that my insurance was not paying for the replacement and that i was there to figure it out. after he started yelling at me again, i asked to speak with the owner. the guys reply was "you wont like what he has to say to you". So the owner walks in and i explained the entire situation. he doesn't seem to have an opinion either way. So i am dealing back with the yelling guy. i decide that i will just pay the bill just to get the heck out of there. As i am looking thew bill over, i notice that the bill is higher than the quote. He then gives me some BS that the guy that installed the glass (safelite) had to use a gasket that he (the expert) did not take into account. i refused to pay the full bill. the owner decided to knock it down to a reasonable (for them) price.i paid and never looked back! i just couldn't let them get away with the way they treated a customer! I truly hope this will make people think twice about dealing with Vogels. read more
