This is the worst company imaginable! I signed up with a person who told me the service was only $9/month "so affordable " wax said multiple times. BUT I was charged $51.56/month from Vivint and $21/month to citizens bank for the equipment. Which is not to rent!! I went to cancel because I am selling my house and was told I had to pay off the loan for the equipment which was $987!! Everyone beware of this scam!! I reported Vivint Smart home to the better business bureau for fraud! On top of all this the service was fine but there were so many times where it appeared the house was compromised and I spent time reassuring the Vivint people the house was secure. This company is RIDICULOUS! I wish I could give no stars!!! I will make sure none of my family or friends use this company! Including military personnel! We moved into On-Post housing and had to cancel our service because personal security systems are not allowed. We cancelled over the phone and waited a few days for someone to come pick up the equipment. No issues there, but this is where it gets interesting... we cancelled service in October. When u sign a contract with Vivint you are also signing up with Fortiva which is the company that provides the actual services. Fortiva has still been charging 3m later ! Wtf ! We have been calling them constantly, getting the run around for 3 months! One of the reps explained to me that Vivint's financial department sends a check to Fortiva to let them know which accounts are closing and need to be paid off. Account has been closed since October but we are still receiving charges in our account. When we call the only thing they can tell us is they don't have direct contact to their financial department (which is straight BS) and there is nothing else they can do! It takes 3-6w to process they say.. months later we still having the SAME issue. They can't even ensure the customer something is actually getting done yet if we stop the payments our credit is in jeopardy.. this sounds like a lawsuit to me ... read more

These people installed equipment that according to the replacement date was 2025 (fire alarm detector). The alarm went bad and starting chirping all the time so I called tech support for help. They determined the alarm was bad and sent me out a new one which I later found out I had to pay shipping on. Furthermore there were additional charges to my account that The tech support explained was for the additional monitoring required on their end to monitor the outdated equipment they installed in my house! There is no way to get out of their contract without them destroying your credit no matter how bad their service or equipment is. read more

If you're military I advise you to go with a company that is military friendly when it comes to the cancellation service department. We've requested to disconnect our service due to PCS and they're having us "wait" so they can take 1 full week to "review" military government orders in order to make a decision to cancel. If they would do their jobs it shouldn't take a week to review, it needs to be a instant action, like wise other companies disconnect service with barely no questions asked when you're military. I'm not sure if this is the exact branch Vivint's general manager John Rodriguez works out of but it's the only one I could find in our area. Now the saying "I can't say enough good stuff" is common but when I say it I mean it. John went above & beyond the expected threshold of a salesmen. His focus wasn't selling products or making a commission it was providing the best service & making sure we were happy with everything. He was open & honest with every thing we were getting & telling us his honest opinion on what would & wouldn't be needed. He was patient & more than happy to answer all our questions even though we had a lot. If there was a way to tip him I would & the rating I'm giving is 5 starts to him alone. The service is great nonetheless but people like him that actually care about their customers instead of trying to run up a bill are so important they should never go unnoticed. As long as you never have an issue that you need Vivint's help to resolve, they're ok. But how often do you NEVER have an issue? I've had their service for about 1.5 years and was content until I recently discovered they've been billing me for months for the smart garage services the technician could never get working and ultimately uninstalled. I was told an escalation was entered at the time the services were uninstalled to downgrade our contract so the billing would be corrected but the agent said "looks like that escalation was never completed". So she entered a new escalation to resolve the same issue that should have been resolved months ago. When I asked how I would know whether it's actually taken care of this time, she said that I would need to call back to check on the case. I followed up with an email to their customer service. They emailed back telling me I needed to call their 800 number, despite me specifically asking that THEY proactively communicate with ME about the resolution of this issue. Seems they're perfectly content making their customers jump through hoops and be their managers, essentially, making sure they do what needs to get done. I'm giving it a day to see if they actually resolve this issue that's been ongoing for 18 months (yes, that long), before I call to cancel everything. Although, based on these other reviews, it doesn't sound like canceling will actually do anything because Vivint will simply tell you they've cancelled your service but keep billing you. Worst customer service I have ever had - and that includes airlines and airports, which can be a nightmare sometimes. But right now, none of my bad experiences with airlines come even close to this terrible experience. read more

This company takes advantage of the elderly. I recently moved my mother and the company will not stop charging her credit card. We contacted Vivint and were told in writing the account would be cancelled but they won't stop charging her card. She contacted the bank to dispute the charges but Vivint won't stop. I know for a fact she is not in a contract because I have been managing her business affairs for some years now. I recommend avoiing this company. They are apparently predatory. If the bank won't stop the charges I will have my attorney take care of it. read more

NEVER used this company, never even inquired about their services but I just so happen to check my credit report and there they are as a hard inquiry. I would never use this service 1. Because the door to door sales people are annoying and disregard the no soliciting signs posted. 2. The fact that they invade your privacy and attain personal information to try and make a sale is appalling! I definitely will be getting a lawyer to see how this was even legal to run my credit without my permission and how they even got it is beyond creepy. I received a call offering me upgrades and better monitoring system. I'm a 9 years costumer of Vivint. From the beginning they messed up, looks like one person offered me one price then the next rep. give me another until finally we came to an agreement. Set up an appointment for installation and they stud me up. Contacted Vivint to cancel the service because I felt very disrespected, no phone call or a notification to let me know they were not coming. The loyalty dept. rep. (Callie Peterson) convince me with promises to stay with them which I did and made another appointment. And guess what, here I am waiting again for the technician who stud me up again. I'm waiting now once again for the loyalty dept. for a rep to cancel everything. I want no business with this people. They know their company is going down and they will do anything to keep your business. I'm browsing for another company to get out of this ASAP. Very unhappy with vivint. To start our system only works half the time. But our biggest complaint is when we purchased our system we were told by the sales rep that we would be able to cancel our contract or put it on hold indefinitely if my husband had to PCS OR if he got out of the military and we couldn't bring the system with us. Now that he is getting out and we are moving back home with family and don't need a system we have to pay $1200 to buy out our contract. If we would have known this we would have NEVER gotten this system. Huge waste of money and we will never use Vivint services ever again. read more

I decided to cancel my service. This has been more difficult that trying to cancel a gym membership!! I had to go back and forth with them 3 times to cancel my service initially. After they promised it was finally done, I was charged for another month of service. I called and they promised it was taken care of and I would be receiving a refund. The next month rolls around and I still had not received my refund AND I WAS CHARGED FOR ANOTHER MONTH OF SERVICE!!!! I had to call back, yet again. I was told everything was taken care of this time, for sure! I was promised a refund for the 2 fraudulently charged months....we will see! Fingers crossed!!!! read more

I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. All though they may offer cutting edge technology, their management/customer service sucks. On the 12 of August, one of their slick talking sales reps approached my property; with some sort of military promotional offer; that he said he can make available to my fiance and I; even though we are not military affiliated. I informed the rep that I am currently secured by Quantum/ASG Security. After giving him our information, the sales rep contacted his office to ensure we qualified for their automated system. While sitting at the dinner table with the rep, the agent on the other end of the phone; informed the rep that my fiance and I did qualify for their system. After the rep finished up his phone call, I informed him that we did not have much time; for we where on our way out the door. The rep agreed to give me a call the next day; to discuss the system that we will be purchasing. Three days past and we did not hear back from the rep; so I called customer service to follow up. I spoke with a young lady the took down my address and phone number; to locate the ticket that had been created by the rep. After finding the ticket; she scheduled an appointment for a Vivint Technician to come the following day to install the new system. The Tech showed up at approximately 3 PM; and began disconnecting my existing system and installing the new system. 5-1/2 hours later; the tech was attempting the test the system, via assistance from a agent on the phone. At this point, I'm not sure what went wrong with the test; but the Tech approached me and informed me that he was informed by the agent on the phone; that my fiance and I did not qualify for their system; and was ordered to remove their system. I immediately contacted the CS Department to find out what was going on; and how can I be qualified on the 12th, (the day of sales rep visit); again on the 15th, (the day I made the follow up call; and had the appointment scheduled for the tech to come out). But on the 16th, after 5-1/2 hours of installation, the tech was trying to test the system with the help on an agent on the phone; and the next thing I knew, I was being approached by the tech. Whom said that he had been informed by the agent on the phone, that my fiance and I did not qualify for their system; and that he was informed by the agent to remove the system from my home. So the tech removed the Vivint equipment; and did not re-install the ASG equipment; which was working fine before he uninstalled the original equipment. After nearly 2 hours of phone conversations with several different reps; that continued to transfer me to different reps in different departments. Refusing to get a supervisor on the line for me to speak with. I requested to speak with a supervisor 3 to 4 times at least; and each time, I would be transferred to another rep in a different department. The reps continued to apologize for the so called miss communication screw up; which is totally unacceptable. I ended up contacting ASG emergency hotline to request the on call tech to come out asap; and re-install the equipment to the original system; which cost me $130/hr. As well as, left me stressed and unable to sleep; due to the fact of not having a security alarm to sound in the event an intruder entered my home during the night. For the on call rep for ASG was not able to come out and repair the damage left by Vivint until the next morning. I plan to take any and all legal action against Vivint for the stress and torture that company put me through.
