I did a lot of my own research and bought my own cameras. All I wanted was someone to mount the cameras and run network cables in the attic. I hate going up in my attic, it's such a PITA. I initially called Protectus to inquire about installing/upgrading my home security system. I bought a recently new home, and it already had a Gurkin security system installed with motion detectors; however, I wanted to find a company that could upgrade and integrate my whole home with cameras, front door locks, garage door and thermostats. After getting an initial quote with prices, we agreed on the installation date. J The technicians Jason and Rob called 30 minutes prior and arrived ready to work. They went to work right away and everything went well until two panels failed. Even with this hiccup, Jason and Rob were relentless in trying to figure out the issue and they even had the final one driven up to my home to make sure that I would have the system up and running. After the panels booted up, there was issue with the Z Wave tech and both had to figure out what was wrong with why the thermostat and locks were not connecting. After an hour, the system was finally up and running. It is a smaller business, but I feel like I am a more valued customer as compared to if I went with ADT or another bigger alarm company. I've had ADT in the past and the techs would have probably given up and not finished the job. With that I went with the super nice folks at Protectus and their 2gig alarm system. Had the alarm placed before remodel on my home and it saved our home twice from burglary while doing construction. Fast reaction time from the alarm company when the alarms are triggered and they are diligent about calling everyone on the list to make sure everything is OK. Super friendly staff helps you assess your security needs and has an assortment of products to offer. The website/app combination is a plus to customize your security needs and stay informed. The alarm system is easy to work with a LED touch panel with simple instructions on how arm/disarm as well as more advanced options to work with the app/website. Installation was a snap and has us up and running in about an hour and a half with training and all. Ditch the wired telephone systems. We recently had a new alarm system installed through Protectus. The previous company we were with for 8 years using antiquated technology and limited our ability to remotely monitor the home. Additionally, when we ran in to an issue after a lightning strike the options to fix/replace were costly and still provided limited functionality. The new system with Protectus gives us remote monitoring/control over the alarm and doors allowing us to ensure the home is protected all the time. Great for those times when the kids are beating you home from work and you want to make sure you get them in the home and keep it secure. The system works great and is a huge upgrade from what we have had over the last 8 years. The people are Protectus are extremely friendly and take the time to walk through the home discuss options without being aggressive or pushy. The installer was on time, clean and walked us through the use and configuration of the system. I've been extremely impressed with the professionalism of everyone me worked with at Protectus! Very friendly service, and I was looking for a smaller company after the awful experience I had with ADT and their equipment falling off multiple times. Plenty to say about Protectus. First off, they have great customer service. If you are interested in signing up with them or upgrading your current system, they'll send someone out for a consultation within a day or so to talk with you and inspect the location. Their security techs are great and will answer any questions you might have during the installation process. Then there is their products. I can't speak for their commercial products but their residential systems are fantastic. I can use my cell to control the system when I'm away. I can review the system settings online. They have features for email and text alerts and updates, specialty door locks, thermostats, garage door openers, and anything else you can imagine. They even offer identity theft products. I live in an 'ok' part of Dallas, but decided to sign up with Protectus in May 14. My house was broken into later in October 14 while I was out of town. Protectus alerted me by text immediately, called me within seconds and had the police at my house within about 2 minutes (would've been faster if I could remember my verbal passcode). If it wasn't for Protectus Security, I would have lost thousands in stolen items. The system paid for itself right there 100 times over. I'm a customer for life. read more

We had an older DSC 1555 security system and were looking for a upgrade to current technology. I emailed Chris and told him what we wanted. He emailed a quote and it was a deal. We scheduled a install on Monday and Wednesday we had our upgrade. It is exactly what we needed. Rob was our tech, Chris said he would arrive between 1-3pm and 12:55 he was at our front door ready to go to work. Rob knows his stuff and worked fast and clean. He was very good at teaching us our system. Web site set up and controls, phone app setup and controls, he even reminded us to get our alarm permit with the city. So let me sum this up and why I gave them all 5 stars. 1. On-time! 2. Two hour upgrade took one hour! 3. Rob explained everything we needed to know! 4. No mess very clean work! 5. Chris gave me his cell number and answered it when we called with questions before our install! Recently, I was so thankful for how it was all put together because a would-be-robber threw a rock through one of my windows but the glass-break sensor went off and stopped the robber in his tracks. This is what customer service looks like! We recently changed security companies. Our 3 year commitment expired and we thought we would upgrade the control panel to the newer technology. It didn't work out. It wasn't an improvement - it was a step back! So we had that company remove the system, and went looking for a new provider. Protectus Security popped up with 5 stars everywhere I looked, so I contacted them. Good call! They agreed to reinstall our old system for the cost of a one-year monitoring contract - at a very reasonable rate! But more importantly, it was the quality of SERVICE they provided! We have a complex system (glass breaks, motion detectors, CO and smoke detectors, a whole host of automated lights, plus the usual window and door sensors). We also have garage door sensors - which were giving us a number of false positives (usually at 2:00 am ...). After getting our whole system re-installed and working - with nary a complaint about the challenges - we couldn't quite get the garage doors working. So we tried to use a different device. But it didn't work either, without significant changes in our existing garage door equipment ... so we kind of gave up. However, when I shared that information with the owner, he wasn't giving up. Less than a week later, he had a technician back at our house - with new equipment that was compatible with our garage door AND the security system! Bottom line, they didn't have to come back. We were resigned to that component just not working for us. But this company wanted us to be HAPPY and SATISFIED! And we are!! The effort was unexpected and appreciated. I was in the market for a new alarm company and I did some significant research on it.... Big companies, small companies, companies that require contracts and some that don't. At the end of it, I really liked Protectus Security. It's a company based in DFW and the owner is Chris - they are a mid-sized company that is in touch with their customers and is growing their business the right way. We had several conversations through my research process and he answered all of them in great detail without the sales pressure I experienced from other companies. He is very knowledgeable about all the new technology and options in our ever changing world. He offered to structure the contract to my preferences - with a contract (1, 2, 3 yr) that would eliminate any upfront cost and get a fair rate. Or no contract, but then typically you pay upfront cost (if needed) out of pocket. It is really the same, it just depends on how you prefer to structure it. Really impressed with their installation process, professionalism, communication and knowledge of the process. We installed the newer IQ2 panel and it has been fantastic. One of the great features is it will disarm our home via Bluetooth via our smartphones, so we drive up it automatically disarms our system and opens our garage door. The technology is improving and Chris and the Protectus team are on top of it. Highly recommended! read more
