Because of the nature of our operation, I was looking for high-quality equipment and overall service and was willing to pay to receive it. After reviewing.my needs with a handful of providers with good reviews, I chose Settler because my conversation with Nelson inspired confidence. As expected, I was pleased with all aspects of the process. What I did not expect, however, was that I would receive products and service that exceeded my lofty expectations at an extremely competitive price. Nelson was transparent throughout the process and helped me select high-quality equipment that met my specific needs while staying within my budget. I was also surprised by the level of operational support provided. Nelson showed me how to use all of the features, but he also set up a number of parameters in advance based on our original discussion without requiring further input. And that support did not stop once the products were installed and the final invoice issued. I am still receiving support on a regular basis. Anytime I have questions, answers are a quick phone call away. Finally, due to my own oversight, my were entirely unreasonable. Nevertheless, met them, and then some, installing my entire less than 48 hours after our initial conversation. I would not recommend asking that kind of turnaround of any provider on a complicated installation, but when I found myself in a bind, the Settler team bailed me out.     I called Smith Monitoring on a Wed (4/29/15) and was told I'd have a tech show up that very Friday…read more(5/1/15) to reprogram my current alarm system. From Wed to Fri they called a couple of times and even sent text reminders. I was comforted by the great customer service I was receiving. The tech showed up on Friday and wasn't able to reprogram my alarm system, which was fine. It was about 15 years old so I couldn't blame them. I ended up going for their basic package and felt satisfied with the install. I just had my home broken into that Tuesday (4/28/15) and the only reason I decided to install an alarm system was to prevent that from happening again. My family and I were home all weekend so it wasn't until Sunday that I decided to show my family how set the alarm, only to discover that it's not acting properly. The "Stay" setting is picking up the motion sensors and setting off the alarm, and the "Away" setting is not picking up the sensors. I called that Sunday to inform them of this problem and they told me to call Central Security Group (CSG does the actual monitoring). I call CSG and they informed me that since I am still under the 90 warranty, Smith Monitoring is responsible for correcting the issue. So I call Smith Monitoring again, and they try to direct me back to CSG. I repeated to them what CSG stated and they took a message, claiming it was after hours. Monday comes and I receive nothing from them. I call again Monday evening and leave yet another message. It is now Wed and still I have yet to receive call, email, or even a text from them. Where did all that great customer service I had been receiving before I was an actual customer go? Now that I need them, they are no where to be found. They have left a very bad taste in my mouth. If I can cancel their service, I will. If not, I am stuck with them for the next three years.

    I had Vivint for about 2 years, equipment was paid off and my bill was no problem at around…read more$45/month. The issue came when it was time to cancel the service. I was moving out of state and needed to cancel the service because I'd no longer need it at my new place. The first time I called to cancel, I spoke to someone who seemed to be a manager, because she offered me all of these perks to stay, including a deferment of my payments until I figured out if I wanted to stay or not. I thought I was getting a deal, until a few months went by and I realized I really did not need the service and needed to cancel. I called customer service, knowing I still had 9 months left in my contract, but my equipment was paid off so it should just be an easy cancellation with an early termination fee. I was wrong. 3 hours later, 10 support agents and 4 departments later, each one repeating the same offers and not communicating between agents, even after I firmly declined them all and said I just wanted to pay the money and be done with it -- I finally was able to pay the termination fee or "buyout" fee and get off the phone. They had me on an initial wait of about 45 mins, and then each agent kept asking for the same information or just wasn't aware of what I was trying to do, and it got to the point where I realized they are trained to drag out the process. IF YOU NEED TO CANCEL WITH THEM, THE ONLY WAY TO DO IT QUICKLY IS TO ESCALATE. Do not let them have you on the phone for hours like they had me! They will have you on the phone for hours, just to submit an email cancellation request. The email you need to cancel your account is : documents@vivint.com and this is the information you need to provide or they will not respond or process the request: Name: Service Address: Service Number: Reason for Cancellation: WILL NEVER RETURN TO THAT COMPANY EVER AGAIN. GET A RING CAM AND CALL IT A DAY.
