We have had the BEST experience EVER with a security system thanks to Technician ANDY WILLIS! I was an HR Director for over 30 years and only dreamed of an employee such as Andy. He spent so much time making sure every camera we were installing worked perfectly and it was no easy task. He literally had to crawl in our attic and drill many new areas and went over and beyond than any other Technician we have dealt with. If Vivint were to ever lose him, we'd follow him wherever he went. Yes folks that's a fact. His work ethic is stellar and his demeanor is endearing and professional at the same time. I wish I had read some of the reviews before going with Vivint. If I could give them zero stars I would. We started the subscription because the rented house we moved into had it in there already. Four years later we're moving out and trying to cancel our service, and my husband has now been through 6 different people and been on the phone for hours. They will not confirm the cancellation and keep transferring him to different people. He is being told that if he hangs up they cannot confirm the cancellation. Definitely going to report them. Also the door to door sales person will actively pursue your house even though you have no soliciting signs and you verbally tell them to never come back. I had to go to my bank to cancel my card so they would stop charging me the monthly charge. I still get phone calls and emails about the money I owe and how my alarm system will be terminated if I don't pay up. I am continually being harassed by Vivint. That was a lie I only had 3 business days. After three phone calls in three days and three hours later I am unable to cancel. We have been loyal Vivint customers for about 11 years. For those years, Vivint was decent with good customer service. When we moved, I called to cancel service on our home but got talked into transferring service instead. Basically, the agent wore me down with several hold and delay tactics. Our equipment was installed on November 1st. Payment was set up through our checking account. Soon after, I got an email saying the account was past due. I had to call and get that straightened out. I honestly thought it was a spam email, but it wasn't. Also, I discovered that our front door was left with a patch of bare wood after the install of the door lock. The Vivint lock is smaller than our original. The tech never alerted us to this. Within a week after installation, one of the sensors malfunctioned. We put up with it for about a week since we were so busy unpacking and getting settled. I called yesterday (November 27) and the online support person uninstalled it and then reinstalled and called it fixed. Overnight the sensor failed. I called today and the online support person determined it would need to be replaced. They would mail a new sensor to me and I was to install it myself. She did not mention any cost for this. I said, NO, I want a technician to come out. She said that would be $99. I said I was not paying to fix their faulty equipment. She transferred me to their "Loyalty Department." This person tried to sell me a "Mobile Protection Plan" for $29.95 a month so I wouldn't have to pay for installation. I refused and said just send it, I'll install it myself and if I can't I'll just disable the sensor. He put me on hold. Then he came back and said I'd have to pay $129 for the new sensor unless I buy another kind of protection plan for $9.95 a month. At this point, I've been on the phone with them for over 45 minutes. I decided I'll get this plan just to get it over with. We are stuck with a 5 year contract with this unethical company. I shudder to think what they will try when I call to cancel after 5 years. This used to be a decent company, or so I thought. Now I've been subjected to their hard sell and deceptive practices. I'm so sorry I didn't hold out and cancel in the first place. I am extremely dissatisfied with this company. Over a year ago, I called to cancel my service because I wasn't allowed to drill in my apartment. Instead of canceling as requested, the representative only paused my billing for a year without informing me. Recently, I received a bill for $280 out of nowhere, which came as a complete surprise since I had never received any prior bills. When I called to address the issue, I was told $140 would be credited to my account and that I should call back to disconnect the service once the credit was applied. I followed up multiple times, only to receive the same response repeatedly. Finally, I was informed of something I hadn't been told before: if I wanted to terminate my contract, I would have to pay over $1,000. When I asked about alternative plans, I was told there weren't any and that I would have to continue paying $61 per month for three more years, totaling over $2,000--even though I'm not using the service. Essentially, I was forced to choose between paying $1,000 to cancel or $2,000 to keep a service I don't use. To make matters worse, when I requested to speak to a supervisor, the representative refused to connect me to anyone else. This company is operating like a scam, finding ways to trap and exploit their customers. Their practices are unethical, and I would caution others to stay far away from them. read more

Their over priced and are scamming people out of their money with their " thirty day trial", deal. They let you try their system free of charge for 30 days and when you reach out to cancel within the time limit, their unavailable. Then they start trying to get over 4,000.00 from you and lock you in a contract. Please be ware.I've been trying to have them come out to remove their equiptment , to no avail. And the system isn't very good and you have to have an upgraded iPhone to even have access on your phone to watch the videos. They are a very overpriced security company. One camera on the side yard never works enough though we paid extra for a booster to reach. The installer made a hole in our wall by the panel that was never repaired. During the same install, they used the only outlet on my kitchen counter work area when there is a lower wall outlet 4 feet away that is hardly used at all. Now if I'm using my crock pot, I have to unplug it to use my hand mixer. We had our house re-stuccoed in the backyard so had to temporarily remove the camera. Of course we had to pay another $200 to re-install the camera. We paid them to come re-install the camera and ask why the side yard camera never works. The vivent salesperson told us we could get $25 off of our bill if we add solar. We contracted for solar in May,2023. They surveyed the house and designed the project May 22, 2023. They started installing on November 16, and completed the installation December 1,2023. At this point, April 17, 2024, we are 343 days from signing the contract, and we paid 80% of the bill at installation. And have yet to go live. Freedom is claiming that we are waiting for inspection of the complete job before they contact the electric company to do their inspection and install a new meter before we can start using our a 4 1/2 month old solar system. We aren't able to claim our solar tax credit, and haven't started getting the $25 a month credit off our Vivent alarm system we were told we would also be getting. Additionally, Freedom was not to put any holes in our roof because it is a flat EDPM roof, however there were holes drilled to hook the installers safely ropes so they wouldn't fall off our flat roof. And, they patched the holes with the wrong material that will not hold up over time. After multiple phone calls and emails from us to them (they don't contact us to keep us up to date) we are ready to have the whole thing taken off and look for another company that can do the job. read more

On or about Aug 9th Vivint came to my door. Thomas Was the sells person. After listening to him and asking a few questions I decided to take the 30 day free trial offer and try their home security system. After all it was a no risk, no fee to me for 30 days. I knew this business as I got my solar from them. Boy was I wrong. Three days after the installation I call my security company Xfinity to check what exactly I was paying for and the total amount. Vivint was charging approximately $165.00 verses Xfinity's $64.00 a month. I can do the math. The only difference is the camera's is Vivint has a wider view. Which is not worth the $100.00 more a month. So I called Thomas to inform him I would not be keeping the system. After about a 10 minute are you sure session he gave me a number to call. 800-216-5232. I called it to find I could not cancel the service over the phone or through them and was sent an email to cancel the service. Wrong again. I went to the web sight after the page finished loading, It was blank. No button to click here to cancel. No nothing just a blank page. So I wrote them and said I needed to cancel and schedule a date & time to have them come and switch the cameras back. This service is terrible. Many outages that leave you stranded outside your house and the alarm can't be turned off. No one will answer the customer service line for hours for reporting accidental alarm cancellations. When someone finally answers after a couple hour wait they say they can't turn off the alarm so you can enter your house. Customer service is foreign services who haven't a clue what's going on or how to fix issues. This main box cost me 1500 and my monthly bill is 34. This company keeps trying to add all these random services to get your money yet they can't handle the basic alarm internet connection to service clients. read more

It is pretty telling when a home security company sends their employees around soliciting at 9pm. Not only was it 9 when the kid knocked on my door, it was the 5th time I told them to buzz off. My impression of VIVINT had always been on a positive note and so was my experience for more than 4 years. Unfortunately, that impression finally changed. Throughout those years, I've had an issue with their front door key pad which was faulty from the moment I started service. I had complained about this since about 3 years ago but wasn't able to follow up with them until about 2 months ago, Their tech support tried addressing the issue about 2 times but nothing was resolved. Today, I finally had the opportunity to mention it to their loyalty department and to my surprise, I was told that the only time I complained was 3 years ago. Surprisingly, my latest complains specifically regarding this issue wasn't documented and so was told that in order for a tech to come over, it would cost me $99. To begin with, as a loyal and long time customer, it's not my job to check what gets documented. Secondly, after a few attempts on their end to fix the issue, the equipment malfunction remains unaddressed. In short, it had always been a faulty merchandise that was installed but they seem to distance themselves from checking out the device without charging a service fee. Why does a customer have to pay to check out a malfunctioning equipment that they installed? To those of you who would read my review, BEWARE!!!! They still have a way of duping your money. If they push an update causing technical issues they make you pay a fee to call a technician out. Hey hey everyone I love love love my cameras and how easy it is to navigate however when I signed up 3 years ago o was t informed that my credit would be ran and that I would have two bills. One for over 3,000 and one for about 40 bucks I was only informed of the actual monitoring service. Out side that more recent services were rendered and I was advised they would waive the $100.00 fee for someone coming out to fix the 3,000 plus camera system and instead they did not I was charged so I have to give them a call regarding this fee my review will be updated based on a combination of the outcome for this occurrence and previous encounters. I had Vivint for several years. It was fine until I tried to cancel. Long story short, I paid my system off in full in Aug, I sent an email on Sept 14 . But they kept charging. I called in again to remind I canceled, they said it was fixed, then they charged me AGAIN. Now I have a bill for over $100 and seemingly growing. I called in again today. I was furious. They send you to "loyalty" instead of cancelation every time and they try and talk you into staying. So every time I called to cancel I have to sit through repeated sales pitch. I flat out told the guy not to try and sell me. I am done. I don't trust your company and he still REPEATEDLY tried to pitch me. It was beyond rude. This has a predatory feeling. This company is NOT honest. I got a flyer in the mail stating the promotion of 4 months of free monitoring and free installation. When I called, the sales rep said as of today, I can give you 8 months of free monitoring. Better deal right? Nope. I had them install and they gave me NO promotion. Then they demanded the marketing piece for proof (which I threw away) and they just couldn't get ahold of the sales rep who sold me the above promotion. Also, trying to get ahold of a live person is a complete nightmare. For 2 days I spent tons of time on the phone, with supervisors who were supposed to call me back since the agent didn't know how to transfer me. Five days went by and I got tired of having to listen to all their voicemail prompts (which alone took several minutes). Then when I got to where I needed to be, their system disconnected me and I had to start all over. That happened 6 times. Every day their online promotions stated free installation (along with lots of other stuff). The result for me was they would only give me 4 months of free monitoring and they refused to give me free installation. So, I told them to come get their equipment and I went with ADT. My cameras went offline, through no fault of my own, and after troubleshooting thru chat, the agent tells me I need to pull out a ladder and climb up to the camera (attached to the ROOF!!!) to move forward. I told her I was not comfortable doing that. Especially since we were chatting via text on my phone and she was requesting pictures, etc.. So you want me on a ladder, taking pictures with my phone and texting them to you??? Not to mention my driveway is sloped...So I said no, and she said I would have to have a tech come out and there would be a standard $99 trip fee. What a joke. I pay $70 a month for this service, not including my equipment charge, and THEIR faulty cameras stop working and I have to pay more? DO NOT USE VIVENT!!! read more

I wish I saw these reviews before I agreed to installing these cameras. We had a bad experience as well. The install was not what I expected. 3 guys stayed until almost 11pm, left a mess, which took me until 1am to clean up. The indoor camera wires were stapled to the wall. The door lock did not cover the hole from our previous door lock and looked awful. There were random holes in the wall I had to patch up. After cancelling, the service rep said the tech would come back and put everything back as it was. Unfortunately, the tech said they don't do that! He would not put back all our previous cameras/sensors and said he needed to leave for another job. He also left 2 holes in my door that he wasn't able to patch. I also had to do additional clean up of staples, holes, touch up paint. Also, pricing out the Vivint cameras ourselves online was cheaper than what they charged us, which is just really suspicious if nothing else. Would not recommend ever. read more

10/11/2023 Vivint Saga continued 10/11/23 Phase 3 Vivint nightmare These people don't learn! They continue to harass me. Long story short, I processed another complaint with the BBB with all the necessary documentation, including pdf files of texts, emails, and voicemail. It's obvious that the legal department didn't read anything they just came back with another accusatory letter with an attached text that made them look even more foolish as it only reiterated what my complaint was about! Just tried to cancel Security Monitoring today 9 Oct 2023. I signed up for in August 2023. But was told that the CAMS and door Bell would also be disabled. And I'd need to pay early termination Fee of $1,840.00 which is the total cost of my equipment. I'm left with equipment that don't work. Currently dissatisfied with the Cell phone App. will not play back the clips. The panel wants a down load offers two choices Google or Apple icons, but taping on them does nothing. Have had a repair technician out twice they agree the cell app won't work on my Samson Galaxy A10E. It worked on the techs iPhone. The clips are harder to down load then ADT's clips They are more sensitive to pick up, neither are to my satisfaction. I have been offered $15 off for 5 months inconvenience discount. A technician will be sent out Oct 11th. It is still under warranty tell Dec 13th . The Cam does not have as wide a view as my ADT Cam. Ps Not so happy with ADT eigher. Again CAM issues with both services. oh yea after Dec 2023 there is a service fee of $99.00 if the system isn't working, Which it will fail as their application sucks, and probably will for a long time. read more
