I went to Vivid Nails in Rocky River for a regular manicure. I waited a very long time to get them to dry, but they kept feeling tacky. I asked the woman to check them. She said she didn't need to. I left and messed up two instantly. Went back in and she fixed them. Had to wait forever for them to dry. Same thing happened. She fixed again. When I got home I sat and watched to tv to wait for them to dry. Look at them. They have prints in them from fabric. They kept thinking I did something. Obviously, polish was applied too thick and she never let applications dry. What a waste of money!!! read more

I was very happy with my experience at Vivid Nails. I called and made an appointment last minute and they were very nice about accepting. I intended to get my gel filled with my natural nail but wanted something less square and pointed. They were very kind and allowed me to change my request from gel to a full set with dip. I asked for additional personalizing to get a French tip with color. My technician did the french tip with color without charging extra, since I was so unsure about what I wanted. Went here as part of my random spa day because I was wanting to try acrylic nails for the first time. The inside of the place could use a little make over, the huge fish tank in the front needs to go, but the people were all very friendly so I think that makes up for some things. My nails turned out so pretty! So I would recommend this place if you want your nails done, but I am giving 3 stars because I also got a pedicure and it wasn't so great. This place came highly recommended to me for gel manicures by a girl who I trust, so I was really surprised how disappointed I was. I didn't get a gel, but I did have one acrylic done on a broken nail and it was kind of s disaster. The first impression is horrible too. It smelled like cigarette smoke which I thought was strange. And you are greeted at the door by a very dirty fish tank. They also reuse everything from nail files to buffers to the paper towels on their stations. ick. The girl who did my nails hardly spoke a word to me the whole time. She chose a very large tip, and was very rough with applying. The nail she did was very thickly applied and cut very short and very square and didn't look anything like the nail it was suppose to match on my other hand. (she also kind of cut my finger while filing and I was thinking how I needed to go soak it in alcohol because of the reused instruments) Overall I will not be going back, even for the much touted gel manicure. Ugh. I never leave negative reviews but I'm really dissatisfied. I paid $70 for these nails plus a $25 cash tip. The photo with the rings is the reference I showed them and the rest are what I got. I only wanted one color, but the same length shape and design as the reference. I felt bad saying anything bc they took my friend and I on short notice/walk in when they were clearly pretty busy. I did try to correct them and ask them for something more like they picture but I don't think they really got what I was going for. I'm just really disappointed because this was the first time I've had my nails done in years, and I never get any nail art or any fun shaped nails so I was really looking forward to this. The decoration is nice and the place has a very serene vibe even though it was fairly busy. I dropped in on a Saturday afternoon and was able to get my pedi/mani right away. I love this place. I've been going here since I moved into the area, after trying a few others. The staff is very friendly. Only one girl has a tough time with English, the others I have no problems with communication. They know their gel manicures. Mine usually last almost 3 weeks. (I always get the French manicure with gel...you can't see it growing out as obviously.) I switch back and forth between gel polish and regular. Recently, I left the salon before it dries completely. Of course, I screwed up the great polish job. I went in the next evening, needing 9 of 10 nails fixed. I fully expected to pay for a polish change. The guy that did my original manicure fixed it quickly and graciously with no charge. I offered to pay, and he sweetly said "boo boos happen, no big deal", then thanked me for coming back in for the fix. read more

Poor scheduling and prices aren't what you see. A fill is posted as $17 but that doesn't include $3 to cut them. They also added "fees" to my pedicure. I have been going to Vivid Nails for at least 8 years. I have tried other places, but the Vivid Nail staff are efficient and have the best prices in town which is most important to me. I get acrylic nails, fills, and pedicures and they last me for weeks. They also take appointments so, call ahead. I have been going here for years and Tom and his crew do a great job. Unlike other nail salons in the area, particularly the one at Westgate, if you have a fungus under your nail, they will remove it and clean it instead of filling over it. I have been going to Vivid off and on for several years. My past few experiences were not so good. Although they are friendly, their communication about pricing was not so good. I called and asked what their fill with gel polish and was told 30.00. Then when I get there, their menu on the wall posts one set of prices and when you check out you are charged something else. I go in for a acrylic fill with gel polish and each time I am charged different pricing, 33.00, 37.00 and 41.00. Thought it was weird. When I asked, they said, if I had any added service, and I don't. Then they said if you have them file your nails down they add a charge, because it takes time. Never heard that one before. What are you supposed to do...let your nail length keep growing? Then they have a sign if you pay cash, you get 10% OFF, no not really, they only don't charge you tax. And you have to pay cash for tips. And they need to change their towels and there is no hand massage. Most of all, I don't like these fees they add. And this last time, the gel polish was thinned and you could see through the polish. I hope they don't thin the polish with acetone. Vivid Nail, be clear and honest with your pricing. read more

Cheap. First and Last Time. You get what you pay for with a $15 manicure. While in the salon, the manager or could be owner was thinning out bottles of nail polish w acetone. Could you at least wait to do when customers are not in your shop? My manicurist did a good job of filing my nails. It ends there. Soak water was cold. Was asked to go wash hands after the filing to rinse off residue in a general sink area. Never had that happen in all the manicures I've had in my time. The nail lacquer lasted one day before it started to chip and dull. This place is s joke. They wonder why they have no business. They get no return customers after such poor quality. It was the second worst pedi I've ever gotten. The first I got from my 5 year old niece. A twenty something female nail tech (with an attitude) rushed through the pedi, the polish was so uneven I can see my toe nail through it in some places, didn't follow the instructions I gave her.
