Simon (one of the owners) is my favorite nail tech there. He takes his time to do your nails and cares about what you are looking for. I have been working on growing out and making my nails healthier and he was able to put dip on my nails. Over time I ripped one of my nails and with no charge, he added a tip to one each time I went. Their salon is very clean and make sure you sign up for their point program! I have been able to save money a couple of times I have gone and enjoyed that as part of something they offer. read more

Do I start with the fact that I was burned by hot water or mention that I was cut during my pedicure? Or maybe I should open with the fact that I was asked three times to explain what I meant by "gel overlay", at which point I decided to decline that service to avoid an impending disaster. Other noteworthy oddities include the fact that my legs were dried with a paper-towel after my pedicure, that my massage chair creaked so loudly and frighteningly when turned on that I thought it might collapse or explode right under me, and that they gave me slippers likely to best fit a size 7/8 when I'm a 10/11. The polish selection is also pretty limited and the polishes that are available are mostly empty or drying bottles. Oh and did I mention that this glorious experience cost me $32 American dollars. Need I say more? Avoid at all cost. read more

Oh Pretty Nails...This is a long review, but I have to do it. I waited a couple of weeks to write this review to be able to best express my experience. My experience was, to be frank, horrible. The only good things were that I was able to call and same day book an appointment, and that the polish color was pretty. From there it all goes downhill. My coworker recommended that I ask for specifically either of 2 nail technicians (one of whom is also the owner), which I went ahead and did, and was told that I would guaranteed have either one of those two when I arrived. I think you can see where this is going. When I arrived, I was hit by the overpowering fumes from acrylics and other chemicals in the place; it is not well ventilated at all. The next thing that happened was that I was told by the owner that even though both ladies were available, I was going to have my nails done by Hannah. Ok, well, I'll go with the flow. When I sat down, Hannah took a look at the shellac that was on my nails and took out a dremel tool. The dremel had the dust from previous nail polish removals still all over it-red, purple, etc. It was not sitting in a cleaning solution or disinfected at all-it was hanging from a hook on her station with the dirty dremel attachment. I let it go because I know it's common to lightly dremel the top coat of the shellac to help it soak off, so it's not like it would be touching my natural fingernail anyways...I looked up at the TV to watch the news while Hannah did this...But when I looked down, Hannah had dremeled the entirety of the shellac off my nails down to my natural nail; which she then proceeded to dremel more than necessary (I've had shellac done for years and am very aware and accustomed to the process). We then moved on to choosing a color, and I went with getting a nail powder dip instead of shellac. The first couple powders I picked from their sample nails were apparently empty, so they brought over a brand new one that I really liked. We started soaking my now bare natural nails in straight acetone to remove anything that was left from the shellac. Hannah then took the dremel out AGAIN for a fast swipe. When it came time to shape my nails and trim, I was told that they do not do anything with cuticles, which surprised me seeing as it was a manicure. Whatever, I can take care of them at home. She then gripped my fingers tightly and instead of using nail clippers, VERY aggressively used a nail file (again with dried old nail polish dust on it) to take down my nails and shape them. Actual chunks of the sides of my nails began flying about onto her uncovered workstation (which she just brushed onto the floor). My fingertips were actually sore when I went home later, and I had a couple small cuts on the sides of my fingertips that lightly bled. When I was having the nail powder dip applied, Hannah used her own visibly-stained-by-something thumbnail to jab and push into the sides of my fingertips where the nail meets the skin. At this point, I did not even know what to say, and was afraid that if I left before the service was done, I wouldn't be able to find anywhere to even finish the process or take off what was in the process of being applied. My fingertips were again sore from this, which I think she knew because she started asking 'Does this hurt? Does this hurt?' as she did it over and over again. I told her it was uncomfortable, but she continued to do it. After all was said and done, I was told that the owner would seal my nails, and Hannah just walked off. No hand massage, no lotion, not even a hot towel. Nothing but sore fingers, some cuts, and dried out skin from the acetone. I don't expect extremely high end services from a small shop like this, but even just the basics were lacking. When it was time to pay, I was told it was $40, and I left a tip out of politeness. When I told my coworker what happened, she was surprised and had no idea how unsanitary they were. She was also surprised that I paid $40 for the service itself. I asked her how much she paid and she said 'not $40, I pay less for the same thing!' As an FYI to anyone who thinks that I am exaggerating my horror of some of the conditions-I have graduated from an esthetics and cosmetology school, and my father used to work for federal OSHA and has informed me in the past as to what is 'kosher' and what is not with nail salons. I am fully aware of what I'm talking about and what I saw. Dirty, non-disinfected tools, unsanitary work areas, unsanitary work practices, poor ventilation leading to high chemical density (my husband and I actually left with headaches), I did not see them disinfect the footbaths between pedicures...I cannot recommend people away from this place strongly enough! read more

I came to Pretty Nails after trying multiple times to get into a local nail salon for a pedicure (Riya's Nails). I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was seen. The salon was by no means empty. They had a full salon with 3 techs working. They were juggling things so efficiently! All of the staff here is very friendly! They welcomed me openly and had me soaking in minutes. It's apparent that many people around here love this salon as some of their long standing customers stopped by to chat and get serviced. They actually converse with you and their prices are very reasonable. A pedicure starts around $30. John did my nails. He is very sociable and gentle yet efficient. I am very picky about my pedicures but he delivered! My feet look great! Pretty nails is a hidden gem in this area. It's not as flashy and modern as some salons but the nail techs are talented and make you feel special. I'd recommend them any day and I will be back again! read more

I am sorely disappointed that such racism still exist. I have attempted to get my nails done at this establishment several times hours before closing time. The first time they told me they were not taking walk ins. The second and third time they said that they were booked until closing. Today was the kicker when I walked in she said it would be a long wait which I was ok with. Then when she saw I was not leaving she proceeded to say that oh yeah I forgot that I have appointments and we will not be able to service you! I literally live 2 minutes away! I have moved on from this place. BUT, first off, Hannah and Lynn are just rude.. Awful. I gave it right back to them over the course of me going there, and finally drew a line in the sand and started going to PEARL NAILS, down the street!! Fabulous. The son who did a pedicure is always high. My feet were in shambles. He took off too much skin and I was in pain for a week. Hannah thinks she's hot shit. Lynn is just a miserable woman. I've gotten a few manicures on the west side at swank hair salons, but none of those experiences compare to Pretty Nails. I came in for my first ever full set (usually I just do polish on my natural nails) and walked out with gorgeous results. I paid $47 before tax for a full gel set with shellac polish and an accent finger. The staff is friendly, positive, patient, and attentive. The owner saw to me personally and I can't wait to return -- a feeling I know many others have, as the women next to me were repeat customers of several years. I was a first time customer, they "fit me in" & were extremely polite, had good rapport with the other customers and chatted with me the whole time. It was suggested that I get gel acrylic nails. They trimmed larger tips to fit my smaller nails. My nails ended up looking like duck bills, flat & wide past my fingertips. By day three, the nail on my non dominant hand had lifted from the tip up. Then the index on my dominant hand lifted from the cuticle end on day 8. I had glued both back, against my better judgement. Then the thumb lifted again. I went to a salon closer to my house to have the two fixed and get a fill on day 10. Upon closer inspection, 4 other nails were lifting and all, but one were easily removed without acetone. So I had the set removed & a new set, with more attractive arches, better trimmed cuticles, etc placed. Pretty Nails seems to have a loyal clientele. Maybe I caught them on an off day. I needed my nails done when I was in town and was really dreading the cost, since I'm used to the dirt cheap NYC prices. Pretty Nails did not disappoint! I felt like I was back at home. Jonathan was awesome. He was a great conversationalist and did an amazing job on my nails. One of the downsides of gel manicures is that as they grow out the part of the polish that was once at the base of your nails can get caught on things (especially hair!) if your manicure wasn't done very well. This didn't happen with a single nail of mine. I had the polish on for at least two weeks after I had my nails done here and you would have had no idea. My nails grew out seamlessly and the polish didn't catch on anything, because it was applied so smoothly! Will definitely go back again if I'm in Cleveland and in need of a manicure! I was also impressed with the selection of gel polish; lots of businesses will feature a wide range of gel polishes, but once you pick one they'll say they're out and offer you something "similar"...not the case here! read more

Awful. Went there instead of my regular nail place which was a mistake to begin with but when I got there I sat there for 10 minutes before a girl asked what I wanted done. (She'd looked over at me twice before this). This was because all three of the nail techs that were in the salon were working on one girls toes. Finally the girl says for me to sit at a table and then goes back to ignoring me. She literally stood there for another ten minutes just staring at this other girls pedicure that the techs were still working on. Finally, after nearly 20 minutes, I got up and left.
