Me and my boyfriend went to try this out of a whim because we were fasting, at needless to say, it was worth the trip!

The reason I came is bc they have the best birria I've tried at events! But my order this time around was not that appetizing. The meat was skimped by a lot. I order to go and it wasn't ready yet so I expected the food to be fresh since I had to wait but it sorta didn't taste like it was. Really sad cause that to go orders aren't taken serious when it comes to quality compared to eating there or at events. I know because I've tried all three and this was the least appealing time. For the price it was it shouldn't be subpar. I'm sorry read more

Good food ! But the prices are utterly insane that it makes me so mad! I'm originally from LA and just moved to upland. I'm FAMILIAR with expensive vegan food.. but here, it's even more egregious. In no world should Mac & cheese with birria cost $20! The portion size is not even close to aligning with this price. The rice is also horrible, idk how any Hispanic can eat it and think it's good rice. Please bring the prices down to more reasonable price. That mac & cheese is only worth $10! & adding birria should only be $13 or $14! read more

I hate to say this, seriously, but the food at THIS location in particular is so bad. We've been 3 separate times, and all 3 times the food was way over greasy, salty, and not even close the food we've tried from the Colton location. For example, we love the birria at the Colton location. It has a lovely darkened color, has amazing flavor, all around yum. At this location (ALL THREE TIMES) the birria has been pale and lifeless. Doesn't even really taste good. The insane amount of oil on everything is basically inedible. I hate to be doing this because we love the Colton location, but I really want to notify Chef Travie that the food at THIS location is consistently bad. Service was great, everyone's super nice, food is terrible. read more

We've been coming to this place when they were still considered a pop up and I'm so glad it seems like they're permanently here in Upland. The food has always been good, and yes I feel like the salt levels are a bit high, but the flavors are there. We've tried the quesabirria w/consome, chimibirria, the Nashville sandwich when they had it, the birria fries, and the taco platter with assorted proteins. Salsas are great but spicy! The only gripe I have is that it doesn't look quite like a sit down restaurant, there's always a part of the back that looks like it's being used for storage, and limited tables and chairs. I also feel like they're short staffed because no matter how long in advance I place my order, I still have to wait when I show up. This past weekend I placed an order at 6:20 pm which had an estimated pick up time of 6:40 pm. I get there around 6:50, it's not ready, and I ended up leaving around 7:05 ish. If they can maybe staff more people or try to be more efficient, that would definitely help. read more

Prior to visiting this restaurant, I contacted them on Instagram to ask about what food items contain nuts since hubby is deathly allergic. My online question was answered within a day with a response of "we use almond milk and cashews for the Mac and cheese." Upon entering the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by an employee and after waiting for her to finish assisting other customers, we were able to place our order of a loaded quesadilla with asada and a chik'n wrap with oysters mushrooms for me, a taco trio plate with jackfruit birria, a beef taquitos plate with rice and beans, viva las fries with asada for hubby and a large cucumber lime aqua fresca for us both. The restaurant is spacious with a variety of seating options including sitting at a booth, sitting at a table, or a combination of both. Our food quickly arrived and everything was freshly made, plated well, and was flavorful. Although we arrived closer to closing time, staff didn't make us feel rushed while eating our dinner. Hubby throughly enjoyed all of the food that was ordered and was delighted to have food to take with him for work lunch the following day. With such a large variety of menu items to choose from, we're definitely going to be eating here more often! read more

Great food. PHENOMENAL service. Chill vibe. Get the quesobirria - you will not be disappointed. Oh my F**k it was perfect. As someone who loves Cabeza and lengua tacos, I couldn't tell this wasn't meat. I ordered a single quessobirria, an al pastor burger with fries (chef special), and a large Piña agua fresca. And they brought chips and salsa to the table. Total with tip $43 read more

Wow wow! This is one of the best, vegan Mexican restaurants I have ever tried! Best mock meat ever. Very flavorful and fresh! I love the taco combo but decided to switch it up with the birria tacos. Honestly it's a little pricey so I would stick to the regular taco combo. The bbq wings were delicious and I couldn't get enough. Great texture and taste. The sugarcane stick was yummy! read more

Melissa the owner stole $45 from us the day we got in a car accident smashed with a boulder driving to pick up our order. Loving the vegan food options! I went to Viva Vegan Diner with friends and really enjoyed our experience. The location is great with easy parking and we were able to find a table immediately. The decor definitely still has a "new/still getting set up" vibe but it was clean and comfortable. We got a variety of menu items including the buffalo chicken fries, birrira quesadillas, and steak and potatoes. The birrira is a tad oily for me but the flavor was really good! read more

Food is extremely good. Second time here 2 years later and we got the Philly Cheesesteak, fries, and a burrito. All very delicious. The staff is also super friendly and charismatic. That being said.. the decor could use some work. The inside of this place feels so dingy. From the bleh blue walls to the dreary black curtain drapes to the stark overhead lighting. It just feels so bland and gray and uninviting. Lacks any color or warmth or personality to match the flavor packed food. Not a huge deal, but I think this place would easily be a hot spot if the ambience and vibe matched how great the food is. read more

I absolutely loved the food here! They infuse so much flavor into the meal and it's really filling --I had to keep reminding myself that it was 100% vegan. The service was also really great. The staff and manager Tony Love was very attentive. I can't wait to go back. read more

Was really disappointed, reached out to the owner and no response ... a $35 pizza couldn't be redone (it was a giant burnt chip) everything else we ordered was ok. Used to love this place but man it went downhill. Prices went up, serving size went down, AND TO MAKE THINGS WAY WORSE, my goodness is the owner so unbelievably money hungry. Let's pay $35+ for two small burritos and have to PAY $1 FOR EACH SALSA because each burrito only comes with one. 2 burritos, 2 salsas. Let's also remember, these salsas are in tiny containers and not even full all the way because again, money hungry and looking to get rich off of vegan food. It's disgusting how much they are charging for things. Come on now. That's like going to in n outs, getting a #2 and having to pay for anything after 2 packets of ketchup. Do better. Not to mention, the owner and her boyfriend are so unprofessional in how they touch each other while Behind the counter. This is your workplace not your bedroom. Act as such. read more

The food is incredibly good. Everything in here is sparse deco wide, but honestly-who cares? Get a to go order and find a park if you're wanting a great atmosphere. The one thing I will recommend is ordering beforehand if you don't have 15-20 to wait. They take their time with the food, but trust me, magical things are happening in the kitchen. read more

If I could it would give it 10 stars, I was excited to come here, I love had jackfruit birra at vegan festivals and different restaurants so I came for that. My aunts have recently joined me as vegetarians so I thought it would be a good intro to show them you really don't miss the beef once you find a good replacement. Honestly, this place was the absolute best part/highlight of my day. We ordered the birra pizza, it comes with the consumé, some salsa, limes, cilantro and onions. Again, I've had jackfruit birra in different areas/places and this has been the best I've ever tried. First bite took me for a beautiful surprise, I shook my head and said DAMN! between bites. It wasn't hunger talking either because we had the viva fries with asada (soy) as the appetizer, my aunts were very pleased. One even told the other they need to learn to cook like that at home. I loved the seasoning of everything we tried, I can't wait to go back and try more. Every time I go anywhere new I always say I'm new and ask how to go about ordering, the gentleman at the front was so nice and helpful. My aunt kept saying she loved his energy, I wish I caught his name. He was awesome, he gave us menus and let us know we order in the front and can take a seat anywhere. It was easy and worth the wait, there was tons of people going in and out when we got there. This place is amazing. My aunts said we should go back next week =) we will definitely be back. read more

I went in not expecting anything special and not a big variety. I was completely amazed, they have tacos, tortas, burritos, you name it. The flavor and seasoning is on point. My sisters and I decided to try this place out since my sister is vegetarian. To our disappointment the customer service was terrible and the "birria" and tortilla on the loaded quesadilla was very dry. I really wanted to like this location. The only plate we liked was the "pulled pork" Mac and cheese. For the owner being there it seemed like she cared more about being on her phone than greeting and making her customers feel welcome. Not worth $70. Especially for the portions. Music was a vibe though. read more

The food is always so good here! We ordered the asada Cali torta, asada cali burrito, chile relleno burrito, bbq wings and a Krabby patty with fries and a cucumber line fresca. The counter service was great and our order was completed within the time we were promised. The food was so good. No complaints of tummy pain or anything not tasting great. The burrito sizing is enough to have left overs. The chili relleno burrito was so so good!! The heat of the pepper was amazing and the beans and rice tasted prefect! Oooo and they are even better reheated! Definitely recommend this place! Be patient and positive the food is worth it read more

Fantastic vegan food and customer service. Ample parking in a large lot. We ordered the asada and pastor quesatacos, asada street taco, tots with vegan nacho cheese, and buffalo fries. Always happy to support small businesses that don't support animal cruelty--We'll definitely be back. read more

So I found Viva Vegan on Yelp. It's a vegan restaurant with emphasis on Mexican cuisine. I was excited to try it even though I am an alkaline vegan and rarely find food choices with alkaline restrictions at "vegan" restaurants. I looked at their menu and i saw oyster mushrooms. I love that! I ordered the oyster mushroom with french fries. I know the fries aren't alkaline... If they used burro bananas, they would be but it's rare to find fries made from burro bananas. I challenge the owner of this restaurant to put some alkaline vegan options on the menu in memory of Dr. Sebi. I love vegan restaurants and I will always promote them. I only took one star away because the oyster mushroom was massive and hard to eat. I think it would have been best if the mushroom would have been cut into 3 pieces mimicking fried chicken. Add more fresh raw options for sides. That's it! read more

I've been to both this location and the Echo Park one. Both have delicious food and I'm always blown away by how tasty vegan dishes can be. Viva Vegan's "meat" options are really tasty by how they cook them. I'm giving a three star review because our party ordered almost $100 worth of food, only to be given four salsas. Okay maybe five. But for how much food we got and how much we spent, you would think that asking for extra salsas wouldn't be an issue. Even if we didn't order as much food, it's a taqueria. Paying $1 for every additional tablespoon of salsa (thats about the size of the container) seems ridiculous. One of the workers was really adamant about this rule and while they were kind other ways, their rudeness showed up over the protection of this salsa! Again, we spent so much so I did not think it was a big deal. Otherwise, the food here is delicious. And I am happy that there was seating available to enjoy our meal inside. read more

I love their birria tacos but the way they price their food shows that it's just a cash grab for them. You can have high priced food but you put love in it and this just ain't it. Ps the oyster chicken sandwich is just drenched and you can't taste the spices of the breading and the buffalo becomes overwhelming. The employees always look so overwhelmed although they are nice. Food took so long to come out to be disappointed read more

I'm finally glad to see you sometime vegan options in the IE. everyone here is very kind, they greet you as you go in which is awesome. Vegan = yes BUT healthy = NOoooo We ordered OG Carnitas burrito, big (mostly rice), tasty but very greasy. Jack fruit carnitas tacos, small double tortilla tasty but again sooooo greasy! I had to dab each bite with paper towels. Carne asad fries, good flavor (made of soy) big portion. I'm not going to complain about the grease bc that's obvious...they're fries :) Come here for a vegan cheat day but don't come here if you think it will be a healthy meal. First time trying this establishment after doing a yelp search. I decided to try the Vegan Birria Melt that comes with fries and consome (soup). Birria Melt: very flavor, excellent crunch to it, a little spicy but not overwhelming. Only con I have was I wish the oil/juice of the birria was squeezed out a little was too much for my liking. Fries: excellent, there were on point and nice crisp to them. Consome: very flavorful, could have this everyday. Yes I will be retuning to try other items on the menu. read more

Damn, I just got ripped off by this place. Ordered the UFC plate which shows "oyster chikn, mashed potatoes, gravy, cole slaw, and a side of Mac and cheese." $21 I get home looking forward to my chikn dinner and am very disappointed when I see half the order isn't in the bag. There's no Mac and cheese, no mashed potatoes + gravy (they threw fries in the box instead). Not cool to charge me $21 and not put what's listed on the menu. Despite this disappointment, I can say the oyster chickn was crazy delicious. The marinade had a deep savory flavor and it was fried to perfection. TLDR: good food, but check your order. They're busy and might make mistakes. read more

Im so sad that i have to write a negative review on the upland location .. Lets start with service: Service wasn't what we experienced at the colton location this place needs alot of work.. their wasn't enough menus for customers we literally rushed to pick what we wanted so others can use the menus .. we waited 30-45 mins for our food.. the kitchen was bumping music loudly.. the atmosphere wasnt what I expected at all... Food quality and price Ok food tased was good but i paid $17 just for 4 pieces of a quesadilla no sides no drink no nothing lol thats crazy .. my wife got tacos and was only given 2 tacos for $15 ... we asked for rice they didn't have it we asked for fries they ran out.. we also got a togo of posole because we were still hungry spent close to $55 here and drove from riverside just to try the new location ..was it worth it?
