The reason I came is bc they have the best birria I've tried at events! But my order this time around was not that appetizing. The meat was skimped by a lot. I order to go and it wasn't ready yet so I expected the food to be fresh since I had to wait but it sorta didn't taste like it was. Good food ! But the prices are utterly insane that it makes me so mad! I'm originally from LA and just moved to upland. I'm FAMILIAR with expensive vegan food.. but here, it's even more egregious. In no world should Mac & cheese with birria cost $20! The portion size is not even close to aligning with this price. The rice is also horrible, idk how any Hispanic can eat it and think it's good rice. Please bring the prices down to more reasonable price. That mac & cheese is only worth $10! & adding birria should only be $13 or $14! read more

I hate to say this, seriously, but the food at THIS location in particular is so bad. We've been 3 separate times, and all 3 times the food was way over greasy, salty, and not even close the food we've tried from the Colton location. For example, we love the birria at the Colton location. It has a lovely darkened color, has amazing flavor, all around yum. At this location (ALL THREE TIMES) the birria has been pale and lifeless. Doesn't even really taste good. The insane amount of oil on everything is basically inedible. I hate to be doing this because we love the Colton location, but I really want to notify Chef Travie that the food at THIS location is consistently bad. Fantastic all vegan place! We tried the quesabirria which had a tasty dip that kept it juicy and flavorful. We also had one of their specials which was a Philly cheese steak sandwich with fries and it was very flavorful and yummy! Definitely a must try with friendly, helpful service! read more

Prior to visiting this restaurant, I contacted them on Instagram to ask about what food items contain nuts since hubby is deathly allergic. My online question was answered within a day with a response of "we use almond milk and cashews for the Mac and cheese." Upon entering the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by an employee and after waiting for her to finish assisting other customers, we were able to place our order of a loaded quesadilla with asada and a chik'n wrap with oysters mushrooms for me, a taco trio plate with jackfruit birria, a beef taquitos plate with rice and beans, viva las fries with asada for hubby and a large cucumber lime aqua fresca for us both. The restaurant is spacious with a variety of seating options including sitting at a booth, sitting at a table, or a combination of both. Our food quickly arrived and everything was freshly made, plated well, and was flavorful. Although we arrived closer to closing time, staff didn't make us feel rushed while eating our dinner. Hubby throughly enjoyed all of the food that was ordered and was delighted to have food to take with him for work lunch the following day. With such a large variety of menu items to choose from, we're definitely going to be eating here more often! read more

Wow wow! This is one of the best, vegan Mexican restaurants I have ever tried! Best mock meat ever. Very flavorful and fresh! I love the taco combo but decided to switch it up with the birria tacos. I'm not a vegan but I seen this place on instagram and wanted to try it and let me tell you food here is delicious.. we arrived and it was not crowded so I was ready to order the guy was very helpful with explaining the menu and ingredients so I got a crunch wrap some loaded fries with Chorizo & oysters mushrooms & a few tacos with jackfruit & oysters mushrooms and I must say it was very good was very tasty with flavorful never did I think vegan food would be this good my favorite is the crunch wrap, Birria Plate & the loaded fries and I got a Agua Fresca pineapple it was so good... We've been coming to this place when they were still considered a pop up and I'm so glad it seems like they're permanently here in Upland. The food has always been good, and yes I feel like the salt levels are a bit high, but the flavors are there. We've tried the quesabirria w/consome, chimibirria, the Nashville sandwich when they had it, the birria fries, and the taco platter with assorted proteins. Salsas are great but spicy! The only gripe I have is that it doesn't look quite like a sit down restaurant, there's always a part of the back that looks like it's being used for storage, and limited tables and chairs. I also feel like they're short staffed because no matter how long in advance I place my order, I still have to wait when I show up. This past weekend I placed an order at 6:20 pm which had an estimated pick up time of 6:40 pm. I get there around 6:50, it's not ready, and I ended up leaving around 7:05 ish. If they can maybe staff more people or try to be more efficient, that would definitely help. read more

My second visit. We were here last week for dinner and ordered the Quinoa Fiesta, Spicy Lemongrass Chicken and Spring Rolls. It's was so delicious that I kept repeating the word "wow" over and over again. Back again today for lunch. I devoured the Spicy Lemongrass Chicken again and my husband loved the Indian Curry. Omg what can I say. I had the Birria Melt w consomé to dip. The Horchata also really amazing. It was delicious . The location is great plenty of parking and indoor sitting. Used to love this place but man it went downhill. Prices went up, serving size went down, AND TO MAKE THINGS WAY WORSE, my goodness is the owner so unbelievably money hungry. Let's pay $35+ for two small burritos and have to PAY $1 FOR EACH SALSA because each burrito only comes with one. 2 burritos, 2 salsas. Let's also remember, these salsas are in tiny containers and not even full all the way because again, money hungry and looking to get rich off of vegan food. If I could it would give it 10 stars, I was excited to come here, I love had jackfruit birra at vegan festivals and different restaurants so I came for that. My aunts have recently joined me as vegetarians so I thought it would be a good intro to show them you really don't miss the beef once you find a good replacement. Again, I've had jackfruit birra in different areas/places and this has been the best I've ever tried. First bite took me for a beautiful surprise, I shook my head and said DAMN! between bites. It wasn't hunger talking either because we had the viva fries with asada (soy) as the appetizer, my aunts were very pleased. One even told the other they need to learn to cook like that at home. I loved the seasoning of everything we tried, I can't wait to go back and try more. Every time I go anywhere new I always say I'm new and ask how to go about ordering, the gentleman at the front was so nice and helpful. My aunt kept saying she loved his energy, I wish I caught his name. He was awesome, he gave us menus and let us know we order in the front and can take a seat anywhere. I've been to both this location and the Echo Park one. Both have delicious food and I'm always blown away by how tasty vegan dishes can be. Viva Vegan's "meat" options are really tasty by how they cook them. I'm giving a three star review because our party ordered almost $100 worth of food, only to be given four salsas. Okay maybe five. But for how much food we got and how much we spent, you would think that asking for extra salsas wouldn't be an issue. Even if we didn't order as much food, it's a taqueria. Paying $1 for every additional tablespoon of salsa (thats about the size of the container) seems ridiculous. One of the workers was really adamant about this rule and while they were kind other ways, their rudeness showed up over the protection of this salsa! Again, we spent so much so I did not think it was a big deal. Otherwise, the food here is delicious. And I am happy that there was seating available to enjoy our meal inside. read more

To our disappointment the customer service was terrible and the "birria" and tortilla on the loaded quesadilla was very dry. I really wanted to like this location. So I found Viva Vegan on Yelp. It's a vegan restaurant with emphasis on Mexican cuisine. I was excited to try it even though I am an alkaline vegan and rarely find food choices with alkaline restrictions at "vegan" restaurants. I looked at their menu and i saw oyster mushrooms. I love that! I ordered the oyster mushroom with french fries. I know the fries aren't alkaline... If they used burro bananas, they would be but it's rare to find fries made from burro bananas. I challenge the owner of this restaurant to put some alkaline vegan options on the menu in memory of Dr. Sebi. I love vegan restaurants and I will always promote them. I only took one star away because the oyster mushroom was massive and hard to eat. I think it would have been best if the mushroom would have been cut into 3 pieces mimicking fried chicken. I had to dab each bite with paper towels. Carne asad fries, good flavor (made of soy) big portion.
