Very disappointed in the cake that was ordered. The strawberries were not fresh and they tasted fermented in the cake. Whoever wrote on the cake wrote it like a child learning to write cursive and didn't dot the "i" or cross the "t" in Birthday. It's unfortunate that the quality has gone down the last few times we've ordered. The service has gone down as well, not very friendly and either they act snooty or are dragging like they don't want to be at work. Not sure if we'll be ordering again! read more

I've been coming here for years and always forget to rate them and they are a great place so want to make sure I add in my 5 stars for them. This time I came about 30 minutes before close (they close at 7pm which I love because it allows me to come after work. My staff member asked for a non-dry cake for his birthday and I they delivered. I ordered the milk and berries cake this time and everyone loved how moist it was. So many compliments on the cake. A little pricey but definitely worth it for its beauty and taste. Oh, it's also a beautiful restaurant and the employees are friendly and parking is right up front. Triple win! read more

Every year for my birthday, I get a cake from Layered Cakerie. It is great bakery! The price for an 8" cake is super reasonable especially for the quality. I typically do a tres leches cake for my birthday and we get build a cake for my husband's birthday in July. This year my birthday was Mother's Day so we celebrated both and got a cake everyone would enjoy. Any slices we don't eat have a plastic wrap in it so it's great for freezing and pulling out later when you want a treat. I call ahead and they place my order in advance so I can just pick it up. It's convenient, they are friendly and they also have lots of other treats you can pick up when you are in the bakery picking up your cake. I would highly suggest this for any event. read more

I've tried a few of their cakes and they're good but not a favorite of mine to get my own slice... so I usually just take a bite of whatever they get. There's an impressive selection of beautiful whole cakes and cakes by the slice, as well as various pastry desserts and cookies. They even have a good selection of drinks if you want to come in to enjoy coffee and dessert. Seems they specialize in catering as they have a dessert package for events that includes Rice Krispies, dipped pretzels, cupcakes, etc. Great idea for dessert tables at parties. I got a few slices of cake as well as some cookies. Average cake price was about $6.75 - which is close to what I paid at a cupcake shop in Upland, so I think this is a better value. Cookies are about $4.50 each. I got: Creme Brulee Cake Cookies & Cream cake Red Velvet cake Golden Isle cake (seasonal flavor) Coffee Toffee Chip Cookie Mexican Hot Chocolate Cookie Wow! Everything as so good! The cakes were surprisingly not too sweet, and the cookies were fantastic. The Mexican hot chocolate cookie was so fun, it had a hint of cinnamon with Dulce de leche sandwiched between two cookies. My favorite cake flavor was the golden Isle cake as it had so many of my favorite fruit flavors combined: mango creme, coconut cream, and had pieces of pineapple in it and toasted coconut on the side. I've tried many things from here over the years. I definitely enjoy their pastries more than their cakes. This last time I stopped in to shop for some cakes. They only offer a 6" cake in the birthday cake style, and when asked how much it would be to make a different flavor in the 6", I was quoted, "at least $40." I'd love to support a small business, so I ordered a slice of the chocolate amore to try for size. What a disappointment! The cake itself... I can't even call moist, it was more like soggy. The icing layers... Practically disintegrated into a watery texture once it enters your mouth. For $40 for a 6" cake... I'm better off just buying a full sized cake from portos for that price with guaranteed deliciousness! I'm really bummed, but I really did give it a try. read more

I have been to Layered Cake just a handful of times in the past few years. My daughter in law ordered a decorated birthday cake, cupcakes and cookies for my birthday. Not only were they beautiful but everything was delicious! I stopped by last week and ordered snickerdoodle cookie and a fresh fruit tart. Both were yummy. The store is nice and brightly lit. I stopped by Layered Cakery today and immediately thought it was such a cute, welcoming little bakery. The space is bright and inviting, and everything was nicely displayed. They even have an area you can rent for small events like birthday parties or baby showers, which I thought was a really nice touch. I also want to mention that the customer service was wonderful. The staff member who helped me (I believe her name was Alicia, or it started with an A) was so helpful and thoughtful, and it really stood out. I picked up a dozen of their bite-size cookies for $5.75. They were small, but perfect for sampling, and they also have larger cookies priced up to $4.50 each, depending on what you're looking for. I haven't tasted the cookies yet, so I'm giving it a 4 for now, but based on the atmosphere, presentation, and overall vibe, it seems like a great local spot. I've been here several times over the years, going back to when this was an actual restaurant. Since then, they've shifted to mainly deserts which are usually pretty terrific. My favorites include the horchata trees leches cake & the chocolate amore. The only drawback is they can't fully customize a cake. For example, I tried ordering a chocolate amore with chocolate whipped cream instead of buttercream & was told they can't do that. Another time I inquired about using marble cake as the base instead of chocolate cake for it and was again told no. So, not fully customizable but you'll probably find something you'll like. read more

I needed a quick cake for my moms birthday and I was drawn to this bakery after reading some of the reviews. They are open 6 days a week which is super convenient and it wasn't too far from me. The bakery is clean and the cakes and pastries all looked amazing - I wanted to try them all! I purchased two different slices so that I could purchase a whole cake. I tried the Vanilla Chiffon with strawberries and whipped cream and it was good. It's not too sweet and the Chiffon was super moist. Next, I tasted the Horchata Tres Leches which I loved! My only wish was there was more milk mixture but, it was still amazing. I ended up purchasing the Mixed Berries Tres Leches since they were sold out of the Vanilla Chiffon with Strawberries. They are fairly priced and it was decorated nicely. I couldn't hold back and I also purchased a Blueberry Cookie and it was divine. It's kind of like a scone, cake and cookie in one and it's one of the best cookies I've had in a while. I definitely would recommend buying your pastries or cakes here for any celebration. I definitely miss the Dolce restaurant that used to be attached to the bakery, but I'm glad the bakery is still here. HOWEVER, my experience is that the quality of the desserts are hit and miss. I popped in this evening to take advantage of their "Sunday Happy Hour" and the cake slices were pretty stale. I don't know how often they bake and prepare the to-go slices, but tonight I was disappointed. When fresh, the cake slices are worth the price. The small cookies are a bit pricey as they charge per cookie and not by weight. The staff is ALWAYS friendly and I will continue to support this small business with lowered expectations. read more

Little gem in the IE. They have the BEST cakes! My coworkers always buy a cake from them when it's someone's birthday at work. All of their cakes and frostings are not too sweet so if you like that then this is the place for you. You can buy whole cakes or even by the slice. The cinnamon twist was prob our favorite, Service was great until I called due to an error . All that good service went out the door. The manager was rude , I spend over 60 bucks just to try out her stuff . We have a large family and are always looking for new bakery to order cakes from . We have ordered custom cakes here a few times over the years and even picked up some of their premade mini cakes on display. However, today we went in for a premade mini cake and the two ladies did not want to write a message on our cake. We asked if they could please write "Thank you" on the cake and both of the ladies rudely denied. They said they could not do that for us and proceeded to go back to their tasks. We don't understand why they couldn't simply write "Thank you" on the cake we bought from them. Even Baskin Robbins will offer to write a message on your cake or give you a topper. I came here last minute/same day to pick up a cake for my nephew's graduation party. I called before I came down to confirm that I can pick any available cake on a first come first serve basis. I decided to try Layered Cakerie since there wasn't much of a same-day selection at Some Crust. There was a line of folks when I arrived which I took as a good sign. I selected the cookies and cream cake and asked that a message be written on it. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes, so the service was really fast. I also bought a few cookies to try, and they were amazing. The family loved the cake, so Layered Cakerie hit a homerun at the first at-bat. We'll be ordering from here again! Came across this bakery, while driving. I came when there was only 1 person ahead of me. The ladies were busy chatting. One person was helping the other customer while 3 others were chatting, maybe they saw me came in maybe not. So as I was looking through the cake fridge, since that was my first time there. One of the lady decided to asked me, "you're ready?" Her tone sounded annoyed that I was even there. Mind you, i purchased 1 full cake, 1 mini birthday cake, a box of small cakes/pastry, 3 packed of macaroons and 2 slices of individual cakes. She packed those recklessly that the mini which I was gonna dropped to somebody's house, ended up touches the side of the box. SMH. Maybe I just came at the wrong day, but that was definitely a turn off. Enough about that. Cake's wise, they're okay. No complaints other than that mini marble birthday cake was overly too sweet. My kiddos loved the macaroons, so were their teachers. The horchata tres leches was yumm. The strawberry cake was light and yummy. So all these stars are for the cakes. Although I miss the original Dolce's vibe and restaurant, their new branding for Layered Cakerie still hits the same luckily for just a bakery. There are many sweet treats to choose from and they all look so pretty. Don't sleep on their cookies! The raspberry linzers, blueberry lemon, and Mexican hot chocolate cookies are my favorite. I recently ordered a custom quarter sheet cake as well for my sister's 30th birthday party. I ordered in advance in the beginning of December for late January. I filled out a consult message from their website and someone reached out to me within a couple days. She consulted with me about the cake via phone call and confirmed the finalized design with me over text. I paid half over the phone and then was required to come into the store to pay the rest. We picked up the cake with no issues. I like the way it turned out and they did a better job than I ever could attempt. If I have to be a bit nitpicky, the final cake had a more soft rounded look to the edges than the more defined shape as seen in the inspo photo. Either way, my sister loved it and so did her guests. It tasted great too! There were 15 of us and we had enough cake for everyone and a decent amount of leftovers. The staff here are very nice and I love that they have regular cakes they make daily for walk in to pick up which we did for my husband's birthday. read more

The cakes and pastries are beautiful, but the cakes were hit or miss for me. We got the "build your own cake" option and selected 8 slices for $50. This saves about $4 compared to 8 individual slices. About half of the slices had inconsistent densities of cake. The Oreo in particular, one layer of cake was really dense and the others lighter. The red velvet was just dry overall and not enough cocoa/chocolate in the cake. The cream cheese icing was also lacking. The edge of the cake on one of the layers of the Neapolitan was over baked/slightly burnt. Our faves were the crème brûlée and chocolate mocha which had the best crumb textures and flavors. What happened to this place. Never been more disappointed for something. I have bought cakes from here the last few years probably since 2017 or 18. I bought a cake from here twice. One for my mom and one for my boyfriend. Today I decided to buy another cake for him for his birthday and what the heck. The website menu states that cheesecake is original with a graham cracker crust. Let me tell you that is no graham cracker crust. It tastes nothing like a real graham cracker. It's not sweet, and there was no texture. It looked like undercooked phyllo dough. We also got the chocolate Amore cake slice, and that was the one that I bought for my mom years ago. I even have a picture of her blowing the candles out on it, but the frosting in the cake was awful. The ganache was not soft at all, and when I put my fork into it, it was so hard and that the entire cake layers smashed, and all of the filling came out on the sides. Also, it tasted like nothing. Literally, I could not taste chocolate I could not taste any flavor in it except fake frosting. It felt like it was full of Crisco, the mouth feel with the grease layering ruined all of it. I took two bites, one to try it, the second one to verify. It was put back in the fridge and I'll leave it for him. Something happened with this bakery, and it wasn't good. read more

I've been coming to this bakery for years when it was adjoined to the restaurant which I loved. I thought the restaurant and bakery worked so well together but as I entered today I see that the restaurant is no longer and the bakery has changed it's name., I found out it's still run by the same owners. Since theres renovations going on it feels a bit unfinished with lots of emptiness at the moment. However, the quality of their baked goods remains as solid as ever.
