My husband and I stopped in here today and bought a milk chocolate cookie, an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie, and a lemon mousse-filled cupcake. We liked the cookies most of all-they were huge and soft. The cupcake was good also, but I prefer buttercream frosting to their whipped cream frosting. Friendly service as well. We'll be back.
Based on coworkers recommendation, I ordered my son's birthday cake from here and it was good! I ordered champagne cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream (kept it real simple for the kids) and it was a huge hit. Moist, super light and not too sweet. They followed my instructions as best as they could with the cake toppers I provided. Was it expertly designed? Maybe not exactly but they did a decent job and everyone loved the cake. Then I attended another event where the hostess had ordered cupcakes from here and they were SO GOOD. They were all different flavors but the cake themselves were angel food cake texture. Omg so light and flavorful without being overly sweet. This alone convinced me to consider this bakery for future events!
I've eaten delicious chocolate chip cookies from Some Crust bakery, and raved about them. Never thought I'd get to cake-taste for my niece's wedding. Christopher was our cake coordinator, who greeted us with a warm smile and handshake. He explained the process in a friendly, calm, patient manner, and walked us through cake sizes, color, and decorations. There's also pictures of wedding cakes available to scroll on a tablet. We sampled a variety of cakes of different sponge flavors and fillings (black and white with ganache/raspberry, strawberry with whipped cream filling, pink champagne, Neapolitan, red velvet, etc) and selected the favorite flavor of the bride- and groom-to-be. The experience was fun, stress-free, and quite tasty. Can't wait for the wedding and cake.
OK, let's start off with the obvious, all the delicious goodies, scrumptious awesome everything !!! Wow, talk about amazing, I got two cupcakes and two chocolate chip cookies, and both of them are delicious! The people that worked there are really nice and very helpful. And they keep everything moving . the line went really quick. I was in and out of there in less than five minutes. The place itself is really nice as you can see from just stepping in and most of the photos that other people have posted that it's really well kept and clean. They do have a seating area on the other side where you can sit down and enjoy everything that they make. I'm not going to post any photos in this review because trust me the photos that are there or more than enough. But please just don't take my word for it. You need to come down take about eight or nine different items. Take a bite out of each one and you can decide which one's your favorite. it's really the only way. All joking aside ,,, this is a place you need to try for yourself . if you're in the area it's a must! totally worth it . (P.S.) don't go on Thursdays , around 215-2:30 ,,,, that's the day when I usually go,,, and I don't like waiting in line. . And don't forget to leave a tip !!!! Ok one picture,,,,,

The texture/consistency of their Scones are most importantly: fluffy, not dry--typically Scones are eaten with jam or butter, but even just on its own is already excellent. The blueberry Danish was also a wonderful treat. We also grabbed a batch of Sour Dough Bread, that one was ok--a little *too* sour in my opinion. Great spot nonetheless, with some cute seating in a lovely area in Claremont. Definitely plan on returning
Another amazing cake from Somecrust!! With some white frosting flaws. This was far a baby shower and the baby's name is going to be Dahlia so I requested them to put some Dahlia flowers on top of the cake and they did a beautiful job decorating. The chocolate cake was so moist and rich, the chocolate ganache is smooth and creamy and the raspberry added to the chocolate ganache filling was delicious. The only thing I didn't understand this time was they had white frosting inside of the cake at the edge of each layer and a large circle of white frosting on the bottom of the cake to secure it to the cardboard. I've never seen them do this to my All chocolate cakes before. Everyone was wondering why there were little bits of white frosting inside the cake. It was also a completely different texture than the ganache and looked very odd. That part was really disappointing.
Yummy treats and a great place to sit ouside and enjoy some good people watching in the Village. The pastries are fresh, flaky, and comforting in that old-school bakery way, with standout cookies and cinnamon rolls.
Some Crust Bakery has 2 stores - one is a bakery with cupcakes, cakes, cookies etc, and the other is a sandwich and coffee shop. I stopped in the sandwich shop and picked up a turkey sandwich on Rosemary French bread, and it was the best bread I have ever had! I have been debating on returning and asking if it is possible to purchase a batch of the bread alone! It was perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and overall great rosemary the flavor. The service was also great, and the sandwich is served with a pickle.
Order a small chocolate cake for a Birthday. Cake looked good and fresh but was really dry and no flavor. Frosting was hard. I wanted to like it but we only ate 3 pieces of it and well you know where it went. Dont think I'll be back. I also asked for pink balloons and it looked like a gender reveal cake.
I've haven't eaten pastries from here in a very long while. Line was packed and interior is cramped, however their Raspberry Pinwheel is amazing! Especially heated up at home. The perfect chew and sweetness. Their iced coffee is satisfying too. Employees here are kind and helpful.
I've been coming to Some Crust for years! First introduced by my coworkers at KGI, the Claremont colleges, and we came for breakfast one day and it did not disappoint. Whether it's their lattes, danishes, freshly baked bread or other desserts, the service and value and taste of everything will leave you satisfied!
Some Crust on the Claremont Village is still my go-to place for specialty cakes. I ordered a 65th birthday cake for my coworker a week ago Tuesday in person. Devin helped me to fill out the order form. It's a 9 inch round black and white cake, with raspberry jam filling and buttercream frosting. My coworker is stylish and always has her hair makeup and nails perfect so I thought elegant with pink and white roses. (The gold Happy Birthday candle I added for 3D effect and was not included.) I scheduled for 7 a.m. pickup today. There was the usual morning rush at the bakery but I was still in and out of there within 15 minutes. It turned out great!! We had the absolute BEST experience with Some Crust Bakery for our wedding cake and desserts. Everyone we worked with was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they truly LISTENED to what we wanted. They sent us several mock-ups with colors and design styles throughout the process so we could see and approve of every little detail. We did two rounds of tastings (one at the shop and another at home) and coordinating the second round to finalize our flavors was super easy. Also, they coordinated directly with our florist to incorporate live flowers that perfectly matched the butter cream florals on the cake and the flowers on my dress. Another bakery (Cucamonga Cakery... yikes) told us this would be impossible and tried to make us feel dumb for wanting it. Some Crust made it happen EASILY. They brought our vision to life and the cake was seriously stunning! And the taste is so light and fresh! Special shoutout to Gabrielle for her quick responses, positive attitude, and overall amazing service throughout the entire process. She took care of us every step of the way. Thank you!! read more
Been here a few times now and I have found their pastries to be just alright. Their sourdough bread was ok. It's important to know that they don't always have the same breads. They have a schedule that they follow every week. In terms of pastries, they do have a lot of options to choose from. I love me a chocolate croissant, but I did not love theirs. It was huge but it was more like chocolate bread. It had none of the flaky layers you find in croissant. Same thing with the chees danish. Small local bakery, they have amazing scones. We ordered our wedding cake 10 years ago, and now ordering our lo's birthday cakes from here! They're delicious! Definitely worth a try. I gave them inspiration pictures and the final product came out great! Parking can be tricky but it's expected in the downtown area. They do NOT take contactless payment. Be sure to have a physical card or cash in hand. read more

While exploring downton Claremont with some friends after taking a train ride over we decided to stop in to some crust for a delicious treat! We came a little after 4pm and there were a couple people ahead of us. The bread and pastries smelled lovely! I ordered an almond croissant which I've never had and it won't be the last. It was soft on the inside and had a nice crunch on the outside. The staff was friendly and welcoming and I will definitely be back when I'm in the area! read more

They had a line on Saturday but it goes quickly..they had one left of my favorite giant sized ginger cookies. These cookies are 6 inches across in size, are thin and chewy. I decided to grab a late lunch at Some Crust Bakery. The guy there explained what the rules are. Service is friendly However, you go collect your order when they called your game. Sandwich side of store is more modern, but yet clean. Coffee here is excellent. My Italian club sandwich is good - the rosemary bread is harder and more chewy. Coffee they offer impressed. I was meeting some girlfriends for lunch. One of my friends knew I had just gotten back from Paris and was craving a good croissant, so she suggested meeting here before lunch. I ordered a plain croissant, a cheese croissant, and a loaf of jalapeno cheese bread. The cheese croissant was warm, so I just had to take a bite. It was fabulous! The jalapeno cheese bread was delicious. The plain croissant was just okay. Not much can compare to a croissant in Paris, so I wasn't surprised. Some Crust is very conveniently located near the school and surrounded by many other eateries. Sitting by the window was especially enjoyable--you can watch students and college crowds passing by while sipping coffee. The cappuccino and scones were very good, and the scones in particular were soft and tasty. A nice, casual spot to meet up with friends. read more

We had the pleasure of having Some Crust bake and deliver our wedding cake earlier this month, and we are so incredibly thankful that we were able to go with them, and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a bakery for a cake for their wedding! They made the whole process of choosing a wedding cake so incredibly smooth and easy, and it eliminated all stress with this portion of the wedding. The planning process was so fun, and we got to try so many different flavors (all of which were incredibly delicious). Their staff were great at helping us design the cake. They were even able to deliver the cake all the way from Claremont to Fallbrook, and with that included, it was still cheaper than some of the other cake companies that were right next door to our venue. The day of the wedding, the cake was delivered without a hitch, the cake was delicious, and we had leftovers to eat. It still remained delicious enough to eat over the next week and surprisingly was still moist and delicious every day we ate it. We would highly recommend to anyone considering Some Crust for their wedding needs or just for any delicious baked goods in general! read more
I was in the neighborhood, so I stopped at Some Crust Bakery. The bakery is specialized in European croissants, Danish and pastries. The fresh bread menu changes from one day to another. Breads are not available on Sundays and Mondays. I was lucky because they had Jalapeños cheese bread on the day of my visit. The bread looked irresistible specially because I love Jalapeños. They have wide selection of pastries, croissants, scones, desserts and more. I couldn't resist the urge to try many of their delicious pastries. I had not had the chance yet to try their sliders or quiche, but I will try them soon. They have also drinks menu, in addition to seasonal drinks as hot apple cider. The shop was very clean and had cozy vibes. The service was top notch. The staff were very friendly and genuinely warm. We came into the store and had a cake tasting experience which really was great! But I'm soon learning that people will promise you the world then do not deliver!!! So we had ordered a retirement cake for two women that had service on the CHP for over 30 years each. We were recommended by Los Serrano Country club since this was our venue, to get the cake here. Well needless to say to say the cake by far has been one of the ugliest cakes ever! Not because of the logo or names of course but because how poorly it was decorated or wait I should say how it wasn't decorated!!! All it had was one tiny border which you could hardly even see at the and the two women's name and the company logo on the cake and that was it!!! No border anywhere else on the cake not even a "Happy Retirement" anywhere on the cake! So plane it made it ugly! The cake itself (red velvet) was just okay! Super yummy and simple sandwiches if you're stopping by the Claremont Village! I love that you are able to choose what type of bread you want the sandwich on--I always go for the jalapeño cheese, and it is always wonderful. My favorite is the Murphy's Melt, which has mushrooms, onions, and cheese in it, and it comes with a pickle spear, which cuts the heaviness of the cheese perfectly. Service is always quick and kind, and you can sit inside, sit outside, or take your food to go! read more

First visit here, really historical looking building! Like history sites so was excited to experience, read good reviews, so went in and ordered 2 peanut butter cookies,cinnamon roll with walnuts and raisins, 2 lemon bars, 2 pecan bars, 2 brownies, and a white sugar cookie with chocolate drop, decent prices, nice customer service in store, guy waited on me was patient and helpful with selections. Cookies are huge. Fast forward to tasting them at home with the family, everything had great flavor, except the lemon bars are really sour no sweetness at all, also cinnamon roll has hardly any frosting, called to enquire about returns, apparently no return policy because "it's food" tho you can return cakes... guess everything is considered food but cake? Odd customer service, if somethings wrong in restaurant most replace it. They should have sample options for new customers, so you don't end up with disappointing food to throw away. Waste of money on 3 of the items. The rest tasted good. Hesitate to return or try anything new there in case they turn out disappointing like 3 items of purchase. read more

For our wedding we used this Bakery for the majority of our cake and dessert needs. They have 2 stores right next to each other.... serving different pastries than the other side which is a little weird. The one on the left side has minimal seating which is much better than the other side which had no seating. They also offer pastries, desserts and coffee. If you want to use them for your wedding you have to make an appointment with them. *FYI We met with Gaby who helped us with all of our dessert needs for the wedding. Her office is a short walk from the actual Bakery. It was about an hours long meeting where you got to taste different cake flavors, as well as mini dessert options. She was super friendly and on top of all the communications we needed. We ordered a small 2 tiered black cake (for picture purposes only). We showed her a picture of what we wanted and on the day of the wedding it'll looked exactly like what we wanted. Tasted great too!! Also they offer packages of 100 mini desserts. One priced 170 and the other package is 220. Thru have brownie squares, tiny tarts (fruit, chocolate raspberry lemon), mini cupcakes (chocolate, white), mini cookies (dark or white chocolate, snickerdoodle, oatmeal raisen) mousse cups (chocolate, strawberry), and cream puffs. They only delivered to our venue, no setting up, which was fine, since our venue was able to set things up for us. The cake looked amazing. Tasted really good too. We ordered 3 of the 100 dessert packages. As well as several dozen chocolate covered strawberries and mini cheesecakes. Everything turned out good. Tasted amazing. Glad to have an assortment of mini desserts for our guests to try. The colors were really popping!! And the price was not bad either. I would definitely consider them for your wedding cake and dessert needs. As well as stopping by for some pretty good pastries and coffee!! read more

Cold Brew, Sourdough Slider with Onion, Tomato, Bacon and Sausage. All time favorite. The ambiance is awesome. Here at 7:15 AM PST on a Saturday morning. I have no idea what you want when it comes to breakfast but please do yourself a favor and forget about McDonalds and get this instead. Amazing people, amazing little gem of a town, peaceful, gorgeous, tasty early morning start. The Service and people match the food. Uh... Amazing. read more
