Very unfriendly employees and I was in there at probably the most scarce day/time. My husband and I had gone to another store along the street of this store and decided to swing by for the first time just to take a look. It was a regular, old Wednesday morning a couple of hours after they opened and there was only one customer in there at the time who was already seated, so it wasn't busy by any means. There were FIVE employees in there at the time and not one of them greeted us. In fact, I felt quite unwelcomed by their immediate ignoring silence and this, "what are you doing in here" non-verbal, emotionless vibe. When I finally bent down to take a closer look at the food, one of the ladies finally, seemingly reluctantly mumbles something. We (replied but) quickly left after that. Makes you not want to spend your hard-earned money at this establishment. When a place depends on the public to succeed or not, it's always odd to see when they don't care one way or the other. First time here and the service was so kind. They knew their products very well and were able to answer my questions. I was looking for a cake for my mother in law and she loves the mixed berry chantilly cake from Whole Foods. The lady at the counter was able to help me decide on the cake and also able to help me compare their chantilly cake to Whole Foods. She was spot on! Crème chantilly cake has a more cohesive flavor profile and way more berries! They were able to write on cake too! So so happy with the purchase. It was beautiful and delicious. Also, I think I had the best croissant from here. Ambience gave me a French boulangerie vibe and reminded me of the bakeries I used to frequent in Portland, OR. I've been hearing so many good things about this local bakery, especially their bread, so I had to stop by today. Beautifully decorated, high ceilings, nice natural lighting, and absolutely the firmest most comfortable sectional wall couch seating ever! Especially with one of the throw pillows behind you. Excellent use of the space. Soft classical music entices you to stay and relax a bit. I only had time to get a 16oz dirty iced chai latte because I was waiting for the post office to open, but I'll be back for sure! Kalamata olive bread? Rosemary sourdough? Heaven! By the way the dirty iced chai latte was So Yummy ! I'm energized to do the dozens of things I need to do today! Some pretty postcard style cards designed by local artist Debra Thomas Zasadzinski caught my eye, so I also purchased those for $5 each. By 9:00 there was a line out the door! Popular! I've been coming here for a while but I've only ever tried their pastries. If you come here, be prepared to stand in line for at least 5 to 10 minutes. It is a popular place. The lady taking the order is quick so most of the time the wait is due to the customer's indecisiveness. To be fair, there are a lot of options to choose from. I cant speak to the sandwiches or lunch options since I haven't tried, but their bread is tasty. I usually pick up a loaf of sourdough for the week. They have different flavors to choose from, but I usually go with the OG or the kalamata olive one. The only thing I would like is for them to slice it thicker. I'm giving 5 stars because I love their croissants, especially the chocolate croissant. It's one of the best ones I've had in the US. I usually pop it in my air fryer oven and it gets nice and toasty. It's flaky and buttery and the chocolate is not too sweet. Their cheese Danish is also a must try. My mom loves the lemon scone and cranberry orange scone. They have a good flavor but I've never really cared for the scony, dense texture (from here or elsewhere). Chocolate chip cookie is delicious as well. It's a thinner cookie but tasty. The snickerdoodle is ok. It's not cinnamony enough for me. Ive had too many other pastries to list them all, but I recommend checking it out for yourself. read more

Cute little bakery located in the Claremont Village. As you walk in, you are met with the pleasant sweet smell of baked goods. I met the owner and she was very nice. Inside is small so there isn't much seating. I had to get one of their sourdough breads which are baked daily. It was delicious! I also bought a banana chocolate scone and a pumpkin muffin. Finally got a chance to visit this bakery. I grabbed a few items to go because I wanted to sample a little bit of everything. Boy... did I get this place wrong... a good cookie doesn't mean you got it all. Customer service comes first especially if your dropping a few large amounts of money. The staff ... especially the large proletarian one. They charmed at first but later gave the snotty pants attitude and I've heard it from others as well. Ok good luck. Almond croissants and the ham & cheese baguette are my favorites here. The baguette itself is a bit of a tough chew but I believe that's the Parisian style. So warnings on that if you have sensitive teeth like mine. But that spread is absolutely delightful! I also got an iced coffee, no sugar and it was pure perfection! The line was to the door and I wanted to look around and whatnot but that wasn't an option with a toddler with me. Inside it's well lit and rustic, teal blue paint. Unique and very light energy. The cashier was very nice, a bit soft spoken think she was training. The other workers were attentive which I appreciated. Good vibes all around from the staff. After getting multiple goodies delivered up to Ojai from here from my mother in law we finally got to go when we came down to LA. The fresh bread rack was impressive and all the pastries looked delicious. There's no wrong choice, only right choices. We got the buttermilk biscuit, Bostock, banana nut muffin, banana nut scone, apple croissant, and a loaf of challah bread. Everything was so quality and delicious. There was a line out the door when we arrived but they serve very quickly it felt like no time at all. Especially when trying to decide which items to get. My friend told me about this place and I absolutely love it. I ordered some scones and they were delicious! My son got some chocolate croissant and he liked it too. I love the variety of the baked goods there and they bread and drink options are great too. I enjoyed their olive bread and wanted to buy a loaf but it was sold out, so keep in mind that some of their popular items might be sold out if you go there late. I liked their latte too. All the staff were so friendly and the service was awesome. I just wish there were more tables inside the store but it's located in a cute neighborhood that you can just walk around after getting some bread here. I highly recommend this place! read more

A French Artisan bakery store is located in Downtown Claremont. They have fresh baked bread, pastries, cakes and very European like. The French bread, brioche, banana muffin gets sold out quickly if you don't go out and get them at 9am in the morning. Service is good, and they will ask if you need slice the bread for you. Ambiance is European artisan bakery, and small. Taste is authentic French European, and for carb lovers this is a must visit place. Parking was no problem in the morning. The bakery is quite small, with some seating available on the side of the store. The Berry Chantilly cake was a hit with everyone at the office! Everything about the cake was fresh - the berries, cream, and cake. The cake was not too sweet or dry and priced very fair for the quality. It was beautifully decorated, with an option for writing if you request it. They take orders 24 hrs in advance to ensure availability! I've tried several other pastries from the bakery over the years. The pastries I've tried were good, but nothing to write home about. Their fresh baked breads are also priced very fair but not my go-to. Overall, a nice little bakery in the neighborhood. I don't make it here often due to the hours, but I do love the interior décor. It has a small Café feel, with just a couple of bistro-style tables inside. The pastries are beautiful. With one of my first jobs in food & beverage being Warburton's Bakery out of Boston, I'm picky about Bakeries. Nearly everyone I speak with raves about their offerings. I had a ham & cheese croissant here that was a bit dry... but maybe that is how they are supposed to be. I will say their fresh baked breads are yummy! I had never heard of this bakery before, even after living in Claremont for a few years, so I was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was! The pastries were fresh and delicious, especially the white chocolate pecan cookie--definitely getting that again. The almond and chocolate croissants were also excellent. We had the following: * Jambon Beurre - This is a baguette with ham and Plugra butter on it. Plugra is a US premium butter brand that is 82% butterfat which I think has the right amount creaminess. * Banana Muffin - Moist and not too sweet. It was a good quick breakfast! Had a disappointing experience here today. I asked the woman behind the counter if they had any baguettes and she said no. The next couple came in and they asked for sourdough, the woman said no and offered them baguettes! I looked at her in complete disbelief and she caught my eye looked away and continued with the other couple. Was it a racist thing? I can't understand or fathom any other reason. We live in the area and come often enough, but my mom is veiled and so it made me question. Money is all green so why does it matter? Sad to say, this was maddening enough that I won't be back.
