Hello Dumplings!…read more Saturday morning plans were to-FINALLY make it to the Lakeline Farmers Market, explicitly seeking Steamies Dumplings. My original intent was to try their soup dumplings. Sadly, they stopped serving soup dumplings, but they explained how difficult it is to transport them, which is understandable. On the upside, they are opening a brick and mortar location shortly that will be serving soup dumplings. You can guarantee I will be there the moment they open the door. The owners are a super sweet, super cute couple who had great routine nailed down. There was a variety of dumplings to enjoy. They are served by six, and I believe eight or twelve (can't remember). I did order three flavors of six, which included the pork, veggie, and there special of the day. I loved the taste each dumpling had. All were unique. The texture of the dumpling was perfect. Not too think, not too doughy and not too chewy. If you are in North Austin or looking for a change of scenery, I encourage you to make the trip and try this hidden gem. I look forward to the soup dumpling experience!

The massive and popular Lakeline Mall up in the northwest suburbs of Austin used to have a food court filled with unique and spectacular items, such as Corn Dogs, Elotes, Jacket Potatoes (still have that one), and so on, and it was therefore one of my favorite and most enjoyable food courts in the country. Things changed a lot over the years, and these days, within the space of not too long really, several of my favourite unique places have closed down in the food court. However, Nacho Macho remains, and keeps the uniqueness alive, and keeps Austin just a little bit weird, or at least this Mall a little weird anyway. Long may it survive.

Second, the two gentlemen working the booth were beyond friendly. They offered samples of the brisket and allowed us to taste pastrami for the first time. Both were great! We ended up getting a half pound of each and having it for dinner. I would have taken pictures of the food, but we ate it too fast...our bad. We will go back and make sure to get pictures the next time!!!

Austin Restaurant Week takes place from August 28th through September 13th. First stop...Rollin Smoke BBQ, located in the Chalmers building, which filled with a crowd of people. I ordered a pull pork sandwich, mac-n-cheese and banana pudding. The pulled pork sandwich was huge, which I shared with the hubs. Quite honestly, I was full after eating 1/4 of the sandwich, which had cabbage, pickles and of course the pork (not the typical stringy pork but chunks of pork bursting with smokey flavor). The mac-n-cheese was substantial with cheese filled shell pasta with a hint of a smokey flavor. So yummy...Well, I might have eaten "all" the banana pudding. This was not your typical banana pudding (dense and flavorful). I certainly understand why they run out of this dessert. Service was superb! Great dining experience...

I order a very nice lite afternoon snack, 1/2 lb of Prime Pork Belly Burnt Ends, 1 Pork Sparerib, and a side of Boozy Brussels. The Prime Pork Belly Burnt Ends which are tossed in bourbon sauce and smoked again for a tender meat candy-like finish which was quite to the contrary, not overbearingly sweet, just a hint. The first time that I went to Rollin' Smoke, I wanted to order the Pork Spareribs but they weren't available so that's when I was introduced to the Pork Belly Burnt ends so today, I ordered just 1 Pork Sparerib today which was good but not great, sadly. I thoroughly enjoyed the Boozy Brussel Sprouts which were smoked and flashed fried, a balsamic glaze with whiskey soaked raisins and parmesan. I am definitely returning to check out the Half Chicken Plate with 2 small sides that I eyeballed.

Then she brought them to me and I went next door to feed store parking lot and it was 4 dumplings and a plastic thing of sauce. The breakfast tacos have a flavor I've never been able to get at home. I don't know how they cook everything! Service The guy working the truck seemed to be high while taking our orders and making food. That must explain why tacos are $7, they were decently large and that runny age was good. It also took ages to make and get our food. I know vegan food does tend to take longer because of the care process, but this was another level. They did not call our names when the food was ready and it took ages. We even came to check on our food a few times and it was not ready. Ambiance Food truck in the middle of an empty lot. Honestly meh on the location and truck food.

I also ordered the orange mimosa, and it was super yummy! The service, though, was disappointing. It wasn't the waitress's fault because she was very nice, but when I called, they told me they didn't have a reservation list and never mentioned anything about a waitlist. When we arrived, they told us it would only be a 25-minute wait, but it ended up being a whole hour! If we had known this beforehand, we definitely would have gone somewhere else. The place is really cute, but it was so crowded that we couldn't enjoy it as much as we would have liked.
