Don't blink or you'll miss this little restaurant off Sam Bass Rd. After being told many times of how good it is we finally were able to get in. The interior is basic table chair setting hole in the wall establishment but packs a punch with amazing food. We tried a little bit of everything. Menudo, breakfast food and they had a variety of Mexican food galore. They also serve antojitos like Elote en vaso, fresas con crema, and liquados. The service is friendly but you do need to remind to bring you stuff. They did get busy while we were there so I'll give them a pass. (4.5 rounded up) Doesn't look like much when you see it. The definition of a hole-in-the-wall. (These words in the sample review work well here, too.) But the food is worth it. The prices are reasonable, the portion sizes are large, and the staff is very friendly. What more can you ask for? On my latest visit, yesterday, I had their tortilla soup (which I'll come back to), and their elote en vaso. Not many places around here have elote en vaso, so I'm always happy to see it on the menu. This place didn't disappoint. To be honest, I wasn't completely impressed with the soup when I had it. It was very plain, not like other tortilla soups I've enjoyed more. I doctored it the way I normallly would, with some of the ingredients that came on the side -- corn tortilla strips and cheese. I also squeezed in some fresh lime juice, from the limes they brought for my water. I had some of the soup and brought the rest home for later. Often soups and stews are better the second day. What I learned is that this is one of those soups. When I first had it, it tasted a lot like a standard chicken broth. When I heated it up for lunch the next day, it had transformed into exactly the kind of tortilla soup I really like. Thick and flavorful. It needed that time for all the flavors to meld. I'd thought I'd never order it again here, and just stick with other choices. But, from now on, I think I'll just get it to go and wait to eat it the next day. Also, I tend to forget that they have paletas until it's too late. One day, I'm going to make a point of leaving some room for them. I'll definitely be heading back for more. read more

I go here several times a month. I order the Chicken Fajita Mini Tacos and my husband gets the Camellia plate, which is three meats (steak, chicken, shrimp) smothered in queso over rice and tortillas. Everyone who works here is nice, it's cozy inside, and the young waitress is extremely attentive. They recognize me and have learned my order every time I come in. It's like getting a family home-cooked meal. Can't say enough good things about this place. I'll keep going here as long as they're open. read more

On 5/3/2019 I came here and ordered the following: Flautas plate The chicken flautas were crisp and the chicken was fresh. The beans and the rice for the dish however were not fresh and the rice in particular was salty. Barbacoa Tacos The barbacoa itself was greasy/oily. The grease from the barbacoa seemed to lateral over to every other item (tortillas included) on this dish. Based upon this occurrence, this is not something that I would purchase from this establishment in the future (see the attached photo). Chips and salsa The chips were not fresh and seemed to be store bought. The salsa was thick but lacked flavor. Tried this place today with the hubby and friends. We are all breakfast taco and migas fans (snobs) and I pass this place all the time so I figured we should try it. The migas were awesome and the tortillas were fresh and delicious. My friend said her chorizo and sausage tacos were really good. My burrito was a good size for the price and yummy. I'll have to go back to try fruit cups sometime. My only complaint is that the service could use a little work but my expectations are low in that department anyway.
