I'll keep it simple and sweet. This is my fiancée and i's favorite Mexican restaurant (and my fiancée is from Mexico, so you know he's serious.) They always start you out with a medley of sauces with delicious tortilla chips for free while you think of your food order. The best one hands down is the verde one that's not creamy. Today we got two breakfast plates which was the Carne Asada Rancheros and the Pechuga de pollo breakfast plate, both which were very filling and well seasoned. The price for each was $16.99 which is honestly pretty standard for places now of days. No notes, great food, good time! read more

The name has changed but I still enjoy this spot. I had the enchiladas braseros and a Mexican martini. Both were delicious. The family had some fajitas, a kids taco, and a chicken burrito. Guadalajara is now Los Braseros. The name on this page needs to be updated. Same restaurant, same menus, same drinks, same decor -- even the window paintings have not changed. It's just a new name for this restaurant. My husband and I have been here a number of times, mostly during colder months for the tortilla soup, or to pick up tacos because it's so close to home. Today we came for breakfast. We were underwhelmed. The food was lacking in flavor... BUT they did bring 3 giant squirt bottle of salsa to the table which really does make up for it -- we were able to load up on fresh salsa to complete our meals. Since we normally come during the holidays or just for pickup, we don't have much experience with the service and today was a disappointment. The waitress misheard water as tea, my husbands coffee was served only with dairy-free FLAVORED french vanilla creamer disposables, and we sat for a very long time waiting to pay our bill and leave -- once they noticed we were ready to leave, we were given a dollar amount and asked for a card at the table for instant charging. It's nice that they have modern devices, but the customer should be able to see the bill first, especially when the prices go up after 11am, and we ordered at 10:40 but paid at 11:30. I asked for an itemized receipt after paying, but never recieved one -- I was only given a copy of the payment receipt, showing only the subtotal, tax, and our payment information. Upon leaving, I went to take some photos so I could show that Los Braseros is just a name change -- same business as Taqueria Guadalajara... and to my dismay I noticed the red sign outside the entrance showing that Williamson County gave this restaurant an UNSATISFACTORY health rating from code enforcement. Hopefully they are just waiting for a re-inspection date? I frequent the JuiceLand next door to this restaurant several times per week, so I will check to see when/if their rating improves. The food is ok. But the fact that I spent $50.00 on take out and can't get complimentary chips and salsa is a problem. Even with pure logistics, a dine in guest is gonna have more chips and salsa. Than one with a to go order. I will continue to make my Mexican at home. Because this isn't a common practice. I even asked the server for chips and salsa. The best place for Mexican food in North Austin! I always get the Carnitas Burrito and Horchata, and it's the perfect combo for me! The horchata tastes just like the homemade one my Suegra makes, and I absolutely love it! The carnitas is not dry at all, very juicy and tasty! The rice and the beans are the perfect ratio every time! The staff is also very nice, always happy to exchange a few words and suggest you what to get or answer any questions you might have. The place is not too big, but it's very cozy and it looks authentic! 10/10 recommended! read more

I love this hole in the wall diner- wait staff is quick to take your order and deliver. I always opt for the migas plate with extra pico-they don't put cilantro in theirs so for me, that's the gold standard. I also get ranchero sauce on the side. Christmas Eve lunch with my Husbae before we start cooking Christmas dinner. Who wants to cook hungry ‍. My hunny ordered Steak and shrimp fajitas and the portion was bananas. So much yummy food. Great flavor and very authentic. I ordered Bistek al last mexicana which was even better. I highly recommend stopping in this little spot , gabbing a margarita and a meal. My family and several friends have been eating at Guadalajara on a regular basis for years. The service has always been great. I have never gotten any dish that was not top of the line. My favorite breakfast item is the Chilaquiles and Carna Asada with green sauce. The serving is large and very flavorful. Their salsa is fresh and on point. Guadalajara has a nice variety of high quality tacos and plates available from early til late. Sometimes I sample the menu widely and sometimes I go boring-mode and get a metric shitload of bean and cheese tacos with fresh diced onions and jalapeños on the side. "Boring" bean and cheese tacos pop when slathered in delicious homemade salsas. Regardless of the selections, I overbuy out of respect for future me. The efficient and friendly staff serves a fun, diverse and loyal clientele. You can tip in cash or on your card. If you enjoy the occasional cold one, they have a small bar that makes the brief wait for food even more pleasant. No bar seating, but they serve beer and mixed drinks to your table. We spent over $80 at Los Braseros Mexican Restaurant and were served a moldy slice of cheesecake. My 5-year-old was already halfway through it before we noticed mold covering the entire back and bottom. When we told the staff, all they said was "it's okay"--as if serving moldy food to a child isn't a serious issue. The food tasted good, but that doesn't matter if basic food safety isn't being followed. We won't be returning, which is sad because this used to be one of our favorite spots. read more

Ordered from here because my wife has been craving pozole soup and they only offer it on Saturday and Sunday. When our food arrived guess what? Yup no pozole. We called to give them the opportunity to rectify it and send us the item we wanted to begin with and their response was we don't have that. They should have at least called so we could have ordered something else for my wife to eat instead of just having one meal for two people. If it was in person our wait staff would have done that. I was really hungry for some authentic Mexican food and was in the area, thought I'd give it a try. Service was prompt, and it seemed pretty clean. I was brought complimentary chips and salsa, which was really good. They also brought three other sauces in bottles - a roja, dona, and a cilantro/lime/avocado that was my favorite. I ordered beef fajitas for one. It came out fairly quick. The dish was hot and tasty, not the best I've had but a big portion and pretty good. Think thin slices versus strips of fajita. The avocado sauce made it taste a notch better! The sides were pretty good as well - rice, beans, cheese, lettuce, and a health (or maybe unhealthy dollop of sour cream. I'm bumping it down a star for three reasons. First, the tortillas, which as some other reviewers have noted are not handmade and are kind of thin and tasteless. They could definitely be a lot better. Second, the soft drinks are canned, though it came cold and with a cup and ice. This always irks me a bit in a sit-down, full service restaurant - you're not a food truck, get a drink machine. Third, it was $24 for fajitas and two Diet Cokes after tip, which is a bit much. If I go back, I'll probably stick to the cheaper plates. Overall, a good experience but could be a great one with a few tweaks. read more

I moved to Austin in '04 and Ive been eating here for 20 years and today was my last day. I ordered the carne guisada lunch special and encouraged my coworker to do the same. Both plates looked off when served, meat had a jelly looking greenish sauce on it and the rice was bright red. Its typically a brown gravy but i bit into the meat and it was red and frozen in the middle, my coworkers was the same. They are obviously changing and cutting corners and it shows. I opted for something else and She asked for something else and instead of the lunch portion they gave her the dinner and proceeded to charge her the upcharge for it. After we left She revealed to me she ordered barbacoa before and it was red also and she ate it anyway thinking a little rare wouldnt hurt and made her sick. I've been passing this place for a couple years noticing the parking lot is usually ALWAYS full so I decided to give it a go. Very busy like I figured it would be but I was able to sit down and was greeted with chips and salsa and a water immediately. The salsa and sauces were delicious, menu is HUGE. I decided to try a burrito and it was a gigantic. Could only finish a 1/4 of it. My favorite part was that mega margarita can't wait to go back and try more of that menu. read more

This is now my favorite Mexican food restaurant. This place is very authentic. Stuff is very attentive and kind. Food is so delicious and with reasonable prices. I loved so much enchiladas. Now I understand that TEX MEX enchiladas do taste different. Guacamole is so fresh and without cilantro (not a fan of it). I love quesadillas as well. This is a really amazing and authentic restaurant that reminds me of some of the most delicious tacos I've had in actual Guadalajara. The staff also speak English, which made things easier for my local family who only speak English who I brought with me. We had the mini asada tacos plate, cheese enchiladas, and a kids taco. It works a bit like the restaurants in Mexico, so don't expect the normal American experience. If you need the attention of the staff, signal/raise your hand.
