The chicken and Baja shrimp bowls are my favorites. The rice is great but you can substitute with the cabbage.

I got a to-go order from Velvet taco located on I35 in Round Rock. I have tried Domain location before and this was the 1st time at the Round Rock location. I got the Birria taco, chicken Tikka, and pork taco. All came very well packed and tasted amazing. They are pretty filling tacos.

What a great experience! The food was very good! The curry aioli on their fish tacos was on point. The place was clean, the wait for the food was not long. When the staff member found out it was our first time there, she was so kind enough to gift us a slice of their famous red velvet cake!

Not your mama's taco joint, I love velvet for a late night dinner. I'm a creature of habit with the Bacon Smash Burger taco on a lettuce wrap but am often tempted with the WTF (Weekly Taco Feature). The queso is always on point and the tacos are made fresh so no stale food or heat lamp warmed tacos. They also added bowls to the menu which I've not tried yet but looks interesting for sure. Maybe next week. The round rock location is open until 2 on Fridays and Saturdays, midnight on Thursdays and 11 the other days with ample indoor and outdoor seating available.

This location is right off the highway and easily accessible. They offer a drive through which is very convenient, but there are also options to dine inside or outside. The employees are friendly, and food is always fresh. Additionally, they also offer alcoholic beverages to go(I strongly recommend the margarita swirl with a Grand Marnier floater). This is a casual laid back spot, that can be enjoyed by the entire family!!!

I started getting the new protein bowls from here and they're great! I have tried the rotisserie chicken and the steak one. They're so tasty and a good portion as well. I love their tacos too and the elote with lime is my favorite dip. I've had velvet for a while now. Different locations as well. This is the closest to me and I do order from here a lot. I need to go inside the location to know service and general vibe, but the food is definitely worth it.

A friend suggested we have lunch here, after having enjoyed the food at another location in this chain. There are quite a few unconventional taco varieties at Velvet Taco. There are also bowls, which have contents similar to the tacos, along with a rice base. The menu is posted on the way in, but there weren't any prices on it when we were there. Ordering is done at the counter, then your name is called to pick up your food. Water and soft drinks are self serve, but there are also alcohol options. Our food was ready fairly quickly, but the place wasn't busy at the time. There is seating both indoors and out. It's mostly uncomfortable, so you won't want to linger. Between the ambient music and live surfaces, conversation isn't easy. Still, I very much enjoyed my shrimp bowl. It had an ample quantity of tasty ingredients for the price and made a great lunch. I would definitely do a repeat.

I got the taco of the week: Fa-La-La Brisket Taco. It was delicious. It was an interesting combo of things but they complimented each other really well. The crispy onions were cooked perfectly and the cheesy hash browns were really tasty. The brisket tasted more like roast (could have been more tender), but it was still good. The location is nice. Smaller than the Domain location but still has a nice seating inside and out. I would definitely come here again! Hales Scale: 8.5/10

It's a chain but has solid taco and drink options. And this new location offers another great food option in Round Rock! It's counter order style so the line moves fast if there is one present. This location has indoor, outdoor and drive through as options. There is also plenty of parking too!

Velvet taco is still going strong and the margaritas and tacos remain consistent. I'll be honest I come for the margaritas to go and add gran marnier at home ‍ it's my guilty pleasure. Especially since they are currently doing half gallons for $30.

A great example of the diverse food options in Austin! Best described as gourmet tacos! Amazing selection of diverse tacos: bulgogi beef (Korea barbecue beef). Indian flavors, authentic Mexican meats carnitas. Be prepared to pay a little more, but definitely worth the price!

So got a steak taco, barbacoa taco and a chicken quesadilla. The staff was extremely nice. I explained I couldn't have any cross contamination with pork she made sure the kitchen knew, which was greatly appreciated. So the barbacoa was ok, steak was very good and the chicken in the quesadilla was probably my least favorite only because I'm not sure if it's meant to be grilled, fried or simmered. But the chicken seemed like it was boiled then put in the quesadilla and fried on the flat top which would have been fine but the chicken seemed quite dry. Maybe I came in at a bad time not sure because when I had it at the truck I was dreaming about it for weeks so maybe it was just not my day but over all it wasn't bad and the 3 star is more because my expectations were set based on the other location. I am definitely going to be back to chase that first time flavor again but this time it just missed the mark unfortunately.

The server was nice but became more engaged when I spoke Spanish to her. She greeted us with chips and two warm bowls of charro beans, which were absolutely delicious. My husband had a Cuban-style torta which was huge and he inhaled. It's not a Cubano - it's a traditional torta with ham and cheese added. He had fajita steak in his and said it was phenomenal. Honestly we could have split this and both been full. I have the taquitos plate. I went with chicken breast and al pastor (2 of each). Came with optional cilantro and onions (don't skip) and grilled onions/pepper plus a side. I couldn't finish it. The chicken was soooo good - very flavorful and not dry, some of the best chicken breast I've had in a while. The Al pastor was good too, but the chicken was exceptional, which I never thought I'd prefer! Under $30 with drinks and tip, this was very very good. The chicken soup others were enjoying also looked stellar - nobody was looking up from their bowl. Great little find. Will definitely be back!

The place is super clean and the chips are definitely made in house, not sure what the other reviewers were taking about. Maybe they came when there was an off day? I think the complaints other reviewers have left is due to not understanding the cultural difference. I tried them even though they're not really my personal preference, but I appreciated that they offer those authentic options. What really stood out was the hospitality. The gentleman working there was awesome. He showed us the barbecue pit and even gave me a taste of fresh lamb barbacoa straight from the pit, which was incredibly tender and flavorful.
