Very bizarre experience with this shady practice. I purchased a new pair of Oakley glasses frames…read moreonline and dropped them off at Modern Optometry to have lens created and inserted into the frames. I paid over $300 for this process. Two weeks later, I received a phone call informing me that their lab BROKE the glasses frames. I asked how to remedy the situation and was informed that they were not responsible for the broken frames because I signed a waiver. Huh? So, essentially, I was out of luck and out of a new pair of beautiful glasses frames. The sales person (Amanda?) said she would email pictures of the broken frames. Two weeks went by and still no pictures. I called again and spoke to this sales person, and she informed me (in a very awkward manner) that she received "undeliverable" messages from my email address (which I've had for over 10 years.) So, I asked her to email the pictures to my work email address...and to this day, still NO pictures. She ended up refunding me the $300 for lens insertion. However, I am out a pair of new glasses frames without any real proof they were broken. What happened to my glasses frames? Did they lose them? Did somebody steal them? Totally unacceptable, and very shady business practices. I would not recommend this store.

The service desk are so efficient, the optometrists have always been thorough and the remainder of the staff have always been professional, friendly and helpful. Now I have been going to them for YEARS. I don't know if these people don't manage their expectations or they just are just predisposed to being nasty when they don't get their way. The concern is consistency. Are they consistently helpful? Are they knowledgeable? Do they try to get the best possible price? Now every now and again, there may be misunderstandings, but they are few and far between and always, after clarification, it is usually something I did not understand OR I was having a bad day. People are very fickle in general and if you do not kowtow to every demand, they take to social media or write a nasty review. How would they feel if they were business owners? I am NOT a shareholder, and I am not asked to post on Yelp, I do it on my own accord. After all, these are supposed to be helpful to others, not a means cathartic means to relieve your stress. My initial experience with EyeCare About Eyes started off great. I was able to easily schedule my appointment online. When I went to download the New Patient forms a few days later, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I could do all of the paperwork online, using a secure connection of course. I had a comprehensive eye exam today performed by Dr. Alicia Kim of EyeCare About Eyes. Dr. Kim was very thorough and quick in her exam and she has excellent patient communication skills. @ Drs. Chen & Chen...you need to keep this one if possible. I didn't wait long at all before my exam commenced. Unfortunately, I didn't get the young lady's name who performed some initial screening. She was very personable. The facility was clean and modern. I especially liked the exam chair because it was very comfortable to sit in. Three things I would recommend as areas for improvement. First, replace the plastic chairs with nicer chairs. The plastic chairs aren't very supportive or comfortable and that's coming from someone with spine issues. Second, consider greatly improving your selection of eyeglasses. I would have liked to give you the business for my eyeglasses purchase, but there wasn't enough of a selection for me to make a choice. If you want to see an example of a great selection of eyeglasses, visit Crestwood Optical in Manassas, VA. Last, get rid of the mask policy. I despise having to wear a mask unless I choose to wear one. Bottom line, count me as a continuing customer, at least for eye care needs.

Upon meeting Dr. Murray she kindly greeted me and acknowledged me as a person, rather than a patient. She was very knowledgeable and welcomed/answered all of my questions. After my exam, I had the tough decision of selected a pair of glasses... I can be very indecisive. The men there were very patient with me. They guy that assorted with my purchase even helped narrow down my selection with his meaningful input of the why or the why not. Definitely a great experience. Would definitely recommend them!

They tell me I need a new exam, with an additional screening that I declined on the last visit. They also said since my exam is more than 3 months old, MVA requires a new one. From MVA, "What are my vision screening options? Option 1: Ask your vision provider to submit your most recent vision screening to MDOT MVA. (MDOT MVA will accept vision screening results for up to two years from the date it was performed.)" I was told this in person as well as on the phone! This policy is bullshit, and they are about upselling and making money. I will not be back, and I do not recommend this practice.

Reviewing both the Mosaic Warby Parker location and their eye exam office next door-…read more Like all of my experiences at Warby Parker locations up and down the East Coast (mostly in NYC and DC proper), my experience in Mosaic renewing my prescription and ordering new glasses was extremely positive. Started next door at FOCUS, which I believe is independent yet connected to Warby. This is a very small office with one exam room, but everything is extremely clean, orderly, and pleasant. Both the person at reception and the eye doctor were extremely friendly and helpful. It was a quick but thorough exam in which the doctor listened to and addressed all of my concerns. I have a strong family history of glaucoma, and he put extra effort into assessing my risk. After the exam was finished, the doctor escorted me over to the Warby Parker retail location next door. I assume that you don't have to use your prescription at WP if you'd rather go somewhere else, but why would you? WP's prices are fair, their frames are durable and stylish, and their staff is extremely helpful. The woman who helped me with my exam (her name started with an H but that's all I remember, sorry!) was also extremely helpful and quickly pulled up my records in the system. Though I was worried for a moment that the frames I have been wearing for 5+ years might be retired, they luckily weren't, and she was able to quickly place an order for my new lenses in a new pair of glasses. WP now offers blue light filters on their regular lenses and I can't wait to not have a severe headache after looking at the computer screen every day. Next up was my sunglasses. WP actually DID retire my sunglass frames, but the employee helped me with suggestions of similar pairs and gave me helpful advice when I tried them on. She also didn't bat and eye when I took some extra time to send selfies in the new lenses to my wife to get her opinion. I wound up picking one of the pairs the employee selected, and they look great! Overall, I highly recommend the Mosaic Warby Parker. All their employees are helpful and friendly, and their products are great. I only wish they directly took my insurance, but they gave me an itemized receipt to submit my claim. They are relatively inexpensive as well for their products compared to other places I have shopped in the past (ex. Lenscrafters).
