After having a terrible experience with an Optician in Maryland and finding out there's no licensing or registration for them. Did some research, found Virginia has strict rules and requires licenses. Went to Bracken, glasses were ready in a little over a week. I can see with no headaches. Also I got Easy Clip Glasses, which are my favorite brand. Also I got the Matching Cases at no extra charge, a first. They even got me an extra Sunglass Clip for another vehicle. Our youngest got ahold of my wife's glasses and slightly bent one side. We brought it to where we purchased the glasses which was one of the eyeglass chains. They refused to fix them and just bent them a certain way until it was balanced on my wife's face. My wife was so furious with their service. Luckily we found this place. We walked in and this cool guy knew right away how to fix the glasses. He pulled out his pliers and fixed them up the right way. He was so kind and courteous. Very professional. I went to Bracken Opticians at the suggestion of my eye doctor. I was very pleasantly surprised at the level of service. Dinsu was patient and thorough with me. When another customer came in behind me, another gentleman came right out from the back to attend to them. A breath of fresh air for customer service! I learned about Bracken Opticians because they are listed at my daughter's doctor as Miraflex providers. Before arriving, I called to check that they indeed carried the brand and that they could help us upon arrival. Once we got there, we were attended to right away which was great as I had a sleepy toddler with me. They helped with the frames and soon realized she would need another brand, and explained to me that it was as good, if not better, as the recommended Miraflex. They were very patient with my cranky toddler when trying all the frames, and began giving me tips as to how to get her to use them. The glasses took about a week to get ready, and I understand they handled the lens mounting in their shop in the back to avoid them falling off when my 13 month old played with them. The pick up was super quick and easy. The glasses have a 1-year warranty, which I will most likely use. The professionalism, attention and care was evident from the moment we walked in the first day. I called around and found Bracken Opticians when I broke my favorite and irreplaceable funky teal prescription glasses. They advertised repairs to glasses. I went in and he was helping an elderly man. I was impressed that he was kind and personal with the man and his son. He took my glasses and 20 minutes later her returned my glasses. The nose rest was not just re-soldered on, he touched up the paint and replaced the broken ear rest that was wrapped in medical tape. He saw what they needed and did it, Wow, how often does that happen? A mere $40 and my favorite glasses were back in business and looking brand spanking new. They also have a serious selection of stylish frames and have been in business for over 50 years. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for new or improved eye-ware. read more

Just like many Bracken clients, I had broken the arm off my only pair of reading glasses, but did so during a hospital stay, a crippling inconvenience. Within an hour after my discharge, we stopped in at Bracken's. Mr. Til Hinton, the Optometrist, searched and searched until he found an arm representing the closest match, and put me back in business. In order to correct my foolishness at owning only one pair of reading glasses, I ordered two new pair from Mr. Hinton, who is currently constructing them for me. Til represents the studied, patient, close-listening perfectionism of the Bracken name, a tradition that is sadly slipping away with the replacement of family owned businesses with chain operations. I would advise you, if you want to get an optometric issue solved, go to Bracken, because they will not turn loose of it until they have solved it for you. For starters, I am not a customer of this location or have done business with them previously. I happened to notice that they are next to the gym I go to after work. I had recently purchased new glasses about a month ago and I had flattened them a bit by accident. I went to the optician from where I purchased them a few times to get them corrected. The only issue I had was that my glasses were still a bit loose and would tend to slide off my face on a slant. For those of you with different prescriptions in each eye this is a terrible experience especially when sitting in front of a screen all day. So I decided to stop at Bracken during my lunch break to see if I could get my glasses adjusted. I went in and in a few moments my glasses were tightened and I was told if I need anything else please come back. That is what I call stellar service helping the community. I purchased glasses from Pearle Vision over 10 years ago and absolutely love them. I have very active kids and my glasses broke in two areas, one at the bridge and hinge. Walmart, Lens Crafter and even Pearle Vision could not repair my glasses. So I was referred to Brackens by a the Walmart eyeglass sales associate. I have three children who have been in glasses since they were under two. After several terrible experiences with big chain glasses stores I found bracken opticians. NO ONE CAN FIT CHILDRENS' glasses like they can. Keith is so knowledgeable about what will work and what won't depending on each person's specific prescription. I have now been going here for 13 years and we recently moved and I STILL drive an hour to get our glasses here. They can also repair almost anything! I came in because one of the arms on my glasses had broken at the hinge. They said that it could not be repaired and would require a new arm. He said he would try to find an arm that matched my tortoise frames as closely as possible. $35 and 20 minutes later my glasses were as good as new and the new arm matched the rest of the frames perfectly! I recently went to Bracken Opticians as my leg kept falling off my current pair of eyeglasses, and Lenscrafters were trying to tell me I needed new lenses and new frames. My eyes had just been tested and I did not need new lenses. So, on a whim, I tried Bracken. They were so helpful and knowledgable. They immediately told me they would do what they could to help me just purchase new frames. I was given a selection of frames to choose from, and the guy helping me (not Dr. Bracken, but an associate, very helpful) immediately popped my lenses out of my old frames, put them in new ones, fitted the frames to my face and sent me on my way, with a bill ONLY for the bare minimum price of the designer Ellen Tracy frames. It was MUCH less than I expected, because I have seen the same frames on sale at major retailers for at least 50-100 more! I was also given a 1 year guarantee for free repairs/replacements. I was extremely satisfied with the level of quality service I experienced at Bracken and highly recommend them to all. My only complaint: they do not take amex! But all other cards accepted. read more
