I've been going to Dr. Chon for 15 years, and even though I've tried other optometrists along the way when my vision insurance changed, no one matches her expertise. I have severe astigmatism and difficult eyes, and no one can correct my vision like she does. Dr. Chon is not only incredibly knowledgeable, but she's also warm and friendly, making every appointment a pleasant experience. I've never met a doctor or optometrist who doesn't rush through appointments other than Dr. Chon. She genuinely cares about your vision health and always seeks the best approach tailored to your needs. Galleria also has a modern, extensive selection of frames, which makes it easy to find something that suits your style. I highly recommend Galleria in every way! read more

Dr. Chon is a great eye doctor - she is detail-oriented, very thorough, and also takes the time to get to know you - appointments are never rushed. She has a great sense of humor, and I also love meeting her oh-so-adorable pups! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Galleria Optical's selection of frames - they feature a variety of high-end designers, including Korean brands, and you're guaranteed to find something that will fit perfectly for your face as well. The front staff are super friendly, and they're really fun to work with. Making appointments is a breeze, and they also have a texting option, which is super convenient. Located across from Breeze Bakery, they have plenty of parking. +ask for Dr. Chon! +great selection of frames! +plenty of parking read more

We recently came here to look for frames for hubs. They have a very large selection of frames but most of them are high-end designer frames a.k.a. very expensive. He has specialty lenses that are crazy expensive so he tries to balance that with the frames but unfortunately, this was not the place to do it. They do have a small selection of less expensive frames but really not much to choose from - hence the 4 stars. I have been here a couple times, years ago, for eye exams, and they were great, but when my company switched insurance, they did not take my new insurance so I was forced to go to a new doctor. Excellent customer service & staff is very friendly, helpful, & polite. read more

I found this place when I needed an optometrist close by. To my surprise, I had pleasant experience both times I went in to get my eyes checked. Dr Song is professional and he keeps it simple. He checked my eyes, explained the diagnosis and provided recommended actions. Front desk staff are friendly and they get the job done. There's plenty of parking outside, and usually no wait time during the week if you make an appointment ahead of time. Will recommend! read more

Incredibly helpful customer service and great selection of glasses. They have also helped me to replace glasses under warranty without any issues. Highly recommend this place - will continue to order many glasses here! read more

Doctor Chon is great has always answered all my questions. The personal always attentive

Their customer service is out of the world. It is run by Korean people in Annandale Korea town, but everyone speaks excellent English. 1. Dr. Song is incredible. He is knowledgable and caring. He really takes time to examine your eyes to provide you with the most comfortable and accurate prescription. 2. AMAZING customer service. I highly recommend Ellen. We ordered our glasses and contact lenses right before moving to Texas, and these had to be shipped to us after we moved. (There is an extra shipping cost). Ellen coordinated every detail of the transaction so smoothly, and it was stressfree and effortless. They carry luxury glasses collections, but since they take vision insurance, we were able to purchase our Dita glasses at a very reasonable price. read more

My wife and I love this place. The drs and the staffs are all very friendly. We've been coming here for couple of years now and can't think of a better place. read more

Dr. Song and his staff were very professional and respectful. It had been more than a decade since I got a real eye exam. I would reuse my prescription to get new glasses in Korea where they are much cheaper. Practically the entire population of Korea wears corrective lenses and so availability, accessibility, selection, prices, and convenience can't be beat. Seriously it would seem like an optical store on every block. My biggest fear was that the optometrist would give me a higher Rx. That's why it's been such a long since I got a professional exam. I guess you call that backward logic or simply put...denial. Anyway Dr. Song was very polite and did a pretty thorough job explaining things, as well as demonstrating what he was saying which wad very useful. I guess I didn't really understand the difference between myopia and astigmatism until today when he actually showed me the difference. With insurance, it still came out more expensive that I would have thought but I'm glad I came. It helped demystify and clear up some misconception I had. Best of all, I didn't walk or out withstronger prescriptions. read more

Whether it's the products or the service itself, this place lacks quality and professionalism. After ordering a pair of frames and prescription lenses for a family member, we were notified that it would be several weeks late; there's problem #1: unreliable. However, I can understand that things happen. The significant problem began with Lani (sp?), one of the customer service representatives. If a customer is wondering why a product is late, asking when the new arrival date will be, whether it can be expedited, or simply asking colloquial questions inquiring about the ordered products, the customer service representative should listen, answer the questions in a helpful way, and guide the customer. Lani has absolutely no idea how to be a decent human being. From start to finish, she was defensive, unhelpful, extremely condescending, arrogantly rude, and, overall, unprofessional. Many times she would be snickering and gossiping about customers - yes, you whisper very loudly. The overall culture and environment of the place are rancid and will ruin any customer's experience, especially for something as important as vision. Lastly, the products are just... ok. Nothing special and not very modern/updated. Reminds me of a place still stuck in the 90's. This place has just lost my business. read more

I did a 5 stars review once and yes they are always 5 stars not just this time but at all time. For all dr appointments these day, if u don have appt, just forget it but not at the galleria optical. I had car accident on Sunday n my left yes vision went blurry ... was freaking out don know what to do but dr. Song been always my first eyes dr., I gave a try to call to make appt to see him if he can tell me what is going on with my left eyes, after I explained my situation they squeezed me for an appointment with dr. Song even though I know they are fully booked this week cos I tried to get my regular check up. From walking in n out from the store, I am pleased and grateful for their amazing customer service, really enjoy the conversation with the staff. Highly, Strongly Recommended!!!!!!!!! I wish I could give 10 starts. :) read more

Dr. Song is great, but their performance in ordering a pair of glasses was the worst I have ever experienced. I was told that it would take 2 to 3 weeks for it to be ready, so I called at 2.5 weeks and was told that the frame arrived but he is not sure what happened to the lenses and that he will call me back. No call. I called again at 3 weeks and this time a woman told me that lenses were never ordered because 4x compression lens cannot be used with the particular frame I chose. That was one of the frames that they had laid out for my consideration. Extremely disappointing. read more

Though I haven't been to this location myself, I have been in communication with their business and staff via emails. I've been trying to find my mom an eye doctor who would be able to give her the exams she needs, so I reached out to Galleria Optical on the chance they'd be able to help guide me in the right direction (with the intent to go to them for a regular eye exam for her anyway). They have been nothing but kind and supportive, and actually gave me several options to think about. In the end, I took their advice and referral to get my mom to see an ophthalmologist they recommended. Though I won't be going to them for myself or for my mom yet (depending on what she ends up needing), I wanted to write this review for their service, staff, knowledge, and punctuality. I will for sure be visiting them when anyone in my family needs eye glasses. read more

Dr. Song has been super professional helping me with my annual eye exam. This facility is located very conveniently on Little River Turnpike off I-495. I have been visiting them for years, and it is always a nice experience. One thing worth noting though, their schedule got book up pretty quickly, so I would suggest giving at least one week notice for your appointment read more

Galleria Optical is located right across from Yechon and Breeze Bakery. Parking can be a little difficult to find during the day in that lot. As for my experience inside, I went on a Saturday without an appointment and all of the employees were with a customer. I waited about 15 minutes before I decided to ask one of the workers when I could be seen for an eye exam. Given that it was a Saturday, I was turned away but she made an appointment for me on the following Thursday. When I came back on Thursday it was a whole different experience. It wasn't busy so I was greeted when I walked in and was seen right away. Dr. Song was very kind and informative. She explained everything to me in detail and made sure I was getting all of my questions answered. I have to say, that I've never been more informed and grossed out by my own eyes. But that's how poorly I was taking care of my eyes, according to Dr. Song. The price for a regular and contact exam (combined) came out $120. After being a regular at Design Optical for years, I can safely say I will never be going back there. read more

I have been to a variety of optometrists in my lifetime, most of them being awkward and "all-business." This lack of customer service led me to become somewhat of a cynical eye-patient. My mentality was find a deal/cheap price for the exam and order contacts online. Oddly enough, I opened up a ValPack (coupons sent to surrounding houses in the neighborhood), and found Galleria Optical's coupon. I decided to try the establishment out because the eye-exam was only $59. When I walked into the shop, I was amazed. There are glass cases everywhere, showcasing the latest designer glasses. All the glass cases are clean and lit up. There is a couple chairs for seating with magazines to read while you wait. However, I have had to wait once for 10 minutes out of the multiple times that I have visited. I ended up seeing Dr. Chon who is the nicest optometrist I have encountered. She is down to earth and intelligent. She explains the structural aspects of the eye and subsequent tests in lay-woman terms. I decided to get LASIK and she referred me to a reputable establishment. She conducted all my follow-up care, and made absolutely sure that all precautions were made. In sum, I walked in here thinking I would come for a one-time eye visit, and move onto the next optometrist "deal," but ended up becoming a regular visitor (by choice)! An additional note: if you speak Korean, the staff is fluent in English and Korean, making the business accessible to the surrounding community. read more

Talk about great service! This place is one of the best Optometrist I have ever been to. I was really surprised. There was no appointment needed and I was instantly provided/greeted with great service the moment I walked in. They are bilingual and speak perfect English if you don't speak Korean. Very nice and friendly. Little wait time, I had my eyes checked almost immediately and the Dr. Chon was very helpful and explained everything to me clearly. After the eye check the staff was very very patient with me since I was very indecisive on the frames, I think I might have even annoyed them because I took so long in choosing one. But they didn't show it like most staff members do, and I didn't feel pressured at all. All in all, I picked some nice frames and because of the extra coating I'm putting on it, it will take a few business days. But if I didn't want the expensive coating, they could have it ready in hours, which is unbelievable as they have all equipment needed unlike others which usually have to send it in. I think I'll be coming here for any future eye needs and recommending all my friends here as well. Thanks for the great service. I'll be adding an update to this review when I get my lens/frame next week. Thank you Galleria Optical. read more

Dr. Chon, the optometrist I saw here, is very sharp. She is young, and seems to be well-versed in more modern patient evaluation techniques. I'm not an expert, but I noticed during my exam, she did several additional checks that I have not seen other optometrists do. I also found her to be accessible and easy to relate to. Very positive interactions with her and the entire staff. I have somewhat severe nearsightedness (contact lens diopters -10 each), so I can be difficult to fit. But Dr. Chon was very patient, and gave me a great fit for new glasses. The only downside is that they dropped my vision insurance (UnitedHealth Vision) the month after my visit, so I will need to switch to keep going here. Based on my research, none of the best optometrist (as rated on Yelp) take United Vision now, which tells me that insurance is terrible...time to switch. read more

I love this practice. The doctors are great and have gone above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience.

Started seeing Dr. Song two years ago and have nothing but good things to say about my visits. Compared to my previous eye doctor, Dr. Song was much more thorough and took his time during my contacts/glasses exam to make sure I had the best possible prescription. Dr. Song was also able to answer a lot of the random questions I had regarding my eyes and caring for them. In terms of the other staff, they were incredibly helpful and friendly any time I called regarding my account and have no doubt that they will be able to take care of me any time in the future. I will be going here for a long time! read more

It's been a hot minute since I got new glasses or had an eye exam and I was in desperate need! Now I wasn't driving into people and wondering how I got there type blind... but I still needed an update. So... I started looking who was close and who took my insurance (normal qualifiers) and so I called Galleria and set up and appointment and never looked back! Now I have seen the light and never will think twice about going somewhere else. The staff is super friendly, they are always patient and listen to your wants and needs not just trying to peddle something on you. Plus the selection of eye wear is vast and one of the best in the area. If you need to get some new specs.... this is the place to make it happen! read more

My family and I have been going there for the past few years because of Dr. Chon. She's really friendly and great! My kids love her. But they need friendlier staff at front. Korean guy with glasses at front never smiles and is so freaking unfriendly. I feel like I'm always having to treat him like if he was the customer. I can't really ask any question comfortably. He basically want it to be yes and no style and get the deal done asap. Females are usually friendly. Glad that I only have to see one time a year...maybe few, since I have to take my kids as well. I wish Dr. Chon had her own practice....I'll take my family to her and refer all that I know to her. My kids like her...so I probably will have to continue to see this guy to see Dr. Chon. Anyway, to limit my having to see or talk to him on the phone many times...I decided to take my checkup to nearby All Eyes today. I must say, I like Dr. Chon better than the place I went today. Dr. Song, I think the owner, needs to have friendlier staff running at front. Who wants to go there if having to face such unfriendly guy at front. read more

Love the doctors and the staff! Always helpful and pleasant to work with. I go every year for my eXams.

Amazing!!!!! If you need an Optometrists you have to go to this one! Before I can tell you why I like this place so much, I have to share who I am. I'm a very critical person and I don't like doctors because our society has put them up on a pedestal and their egos has gone wayyyyyyy to far above themselves. Doctors think they know everything and there's no room for discussion. When in fact, being a doctor is just another job for many of them, just like a "career" is for most people. However, this doctor actually listens to you and is willing to discuss issues with you. I usually research almost everything over the internet and try to identify pros and cons before seeing a professional to learn from them. And when I did this to the Dr. here, he was absolutely willing to listen, discuss, AND give YOU options!!!!!! Most of all, I think what I most about them is that they seem like they're family owned and operated business. That might be why they're so customer oriented. Not only that, the staff is always friendly and service oriented. Meaning, you'll always be greeted by someone as you walk-in, regardless of how busy they are AND they treat you as if you're actually important! Let's face it, despite what we think, most of us aren't THAT important. But they make you feel like one. Finally, they have a very clean facility with a great selection. Of course, some of their selection does tend to serve the higher end of the shopping spectrum but they have a good selection of value as well. On a side note, if you really want pure value, you should go to Costco for the frame and then get Galleria Optical to install a lens for you. Because if something doesn't work, they'll fix it! read more

Never actually used Yelp in all my years but the staff were so unprofessional that I created an account just to write this review. I made an appointment weeks before and they told me everything was fine, when the day came for my appointment they told me they couldn't find my insurance provider and made figure out what was wrong before making another appointment. I was surprised since I've had no problem with this before so i went home and called my insurance. turns out the issue was minor that could have been solved in less than 5 mins but they didn't wanna bother to call the number that was in my insurance card. (they were looking up my info under a different provider) So to sum it up they made me reschedule something I had set up week before just because they were too lazy to call a number that was in my insurance card. read more

I don't recommend this place. After being a patient of Dr. Song in the late 2000's, it was unfortunate that there was a fire in the shopping plaza which forced the store to close. Recently, I found the store relocated in Annandale and brought with me a $200 gift certificate I had prior to the fire. I was told that "gift certificates have expiration date", therefore, they won't honor it. I brought in the gift certificate with me to the store to show them that it is not statement of expiration. The sale representatives there don't seem to speak English fluently and couldn't articulate very well. Although I was excited to find them relocated, I will not return as a patient or customer. read more

Galleria Optical was a great place to spend my money on glasses! The eye exam was great both doctors were friendly and informative and the employees upfront were able to assist me in picking out glasses and getting contacts. They also got my frames back very quickly, I have a high eye glass prescription and it usually takes a week or two but Galleria Optical got it to me within 5 days. This probably varies with the patient they see and there prescription but mine definitely came in quicker than I expected. They told me that an annual check-up is recommended especially for contact lens wears so I will definitely be there next year! read more

I'm so glad I picked this optometrist for my eyes. Place is always bustling with customers which tells me that is a good sign that the service can be trusted. Staff is friendly and nice, always smiling. Dr Chon is very approachable, easy to talk to and explains a lot of things to me. The staff also patiently explained how the insurance works (being my first time) and when I went to collect my glasses, they refunded the extra money they accidentally charged which I'm totally unaware of. read more

This review is for Dr. Chon only. She is the only eye doctor to have gotten my eye prescription right in my 20 years of wearing glasses. I praise her for ability to pinpoint my eye prescription accurately. Other eye doctors have made my vision worse since my youth. Many pairs of eye glasses never felt right. Too much eye strain, wrong power, wrong corrections. See Dr. Chon for your prescription because she's great. read more

Love Love Love! I've always hated my eye dr...always tried to confuse me, never explain anything and always up-sale me on everything BUT I LOVE Galleria Optical (they didn't)! Even if I live an hour away I will be driving all the way here to get my exams and glasses!! An amazing variety of glasses to choose from! The only sad part is we have to wait 3 weeks till my amazing glasses come back to me! I can't wait! read more

I went here for an eye exam based on all the good reviews I saw here on Yelp. Their price was a little over $100 for an eye exam, which is pretty reasonable. Very friendly staff and great service. Got attention from then as soon as I walked in, and hardly any wait from filling out paperwork to exam to walking in. I've called after my exams with questions, and they were always helpful and if the question needed to be directed to the Doctor, the staff got back to me within an hour, which I have found to be rare for most Doctor's offices. Dr. Chon was so nice and helpful in answering all my questions during the exam. She is intelligent and explains in simple terms so it is easy to understand. They also have a wide selection of glasses to choose from so it would be hard to choose just one. Definitely recommend! read more

"Most" of the staff are friendly and knowledgeable...Dr. Chon is very good (one of the best eye doctor in the area) - very high common sense and knowledge in the field.
