Very bizarre experience with this shady practice. Two weeks later, I received a phone call informing me that their lab BROKE the glasses frames. I asked how to remedy the situation and was informed that they were not responsible for the broken frames because I signed a waiver. Huh? So, essentially, I was out of luck and out of a new pair of beautiful glasses frames. The sales person (Amanda?) said she would email pictures of the broken frames. Two weeks went by and still no pictures. I called again and spoke to this sales person, and she informed me (in a very awkward manner) that she received "undeliverable" messages from my email address (which I've had for over 10 years.) So, I asked her to email the pictures to my work email address...and to this day, still NO pictures. She ended up refunding me the $300 for lens insertion. However, I am out a pair of new glasses frames without any real proof they were broken. What happened to my glasses frames? Did they lose them? Did somebody steal them? The first sketchy element is that the link my wife kept sending me kept taking me to a google search with an alternate name. It appears that they do business under two different names which is kind of shady. But the big problem is that when you try to schedule an appointment on their website, it asks you to choose three different times. This is really bad because in this area many people have jobs and families and you can't just bank on some random time MAYBE being available. So I tried to call in the morning and nobody answered. I tried to call again in the afternoon after I made the appointment and again nobody answered. This was for an appointment the next day. I got two auto-texts saying "sorry we missed your call" so I replied to the texts saying I have a job and four kids and I can't be left hanging on these appointments, and this is a bad first impression after my wife recommended this place. I get a call back FIVE minutes after that text from a someone sounding like a sorority chick who just got dumped by her boyfriend. Huge attitude immediately. She's like "Those are just APPOINTMENT REQUESTS, SIR! We have ONE appointment at 7:45am tomorrow." Okay, well the appointments I thought I signed up for were 2:15, 2:30, and 2:45. So I calmly asked why the website listed 12 appointments for tomorrow and 18 for the next day if none of those were really available. And she just kept replying to everything I said by getting increasingly loud and obnoxious so I finally said, "well I guess I will go to another practice then," and before I could even say thanks and bye, she hung up on me. After this conversation, a lot of stuff is even weirder as I think about it. If the appointments are "just requests," then why were there "no requests" listed today, "12 requests" tomorrow, and "18 requests" the next day? That's totally nonsensical because if nothing is guaranteed then why list ANY times that are definitely not available??? And if you're going to list some times, why not list them all? Still the worst is just the rudeness. If your instant response to someone texting that you made a bad first impression but TRYING TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION BY SETTING A FIRM APPOINTMENT is to call them back in a haughty tone, then perhaps you should not be employed in customer service. I didn't appreciate the implication that I "might" require my eyes to be dilated...but that if I paid an extra $39 then I wouldn't. Doubt I'll be going back there. Keeping only 1 doctor to show up once a month and acting like it is the same clinic is not right, actively confusing patients. 2. New management is all about money! Pay pay pay. Even with insurance. The original doctors did NOT sell your data to them, which is awesome. The reception was a little impatient when I called in to book an appointment to look at available dates for Dr. Goldberg. In-person, all the receptionists seemed annoyed when we tried talking to them so my husband and I didn't feel very comfortable in the waiting area. At the conclusion of the exam, they advised us that they didn't take our vision insurance. This was a little upsetting, considering I had to fill out a form and provide them my insurance *before* they conducted the examination. It would have been nice to be informed that they didn't accept my insurance beforehand but since we were already there, I suppose they didn't want to lose out on earnings. We were billed a total of $638 for an annual exam ($319 each), which we paid out of pocket. No, I assure you that this did not include digital retinal screening or other advanced forms of technology. It was your typical vision exam. Considering the customer service and how average the examination was, I do not feel this merited the exorbitant price point. Although Dr. Goldberg was not involved in the incidents I mentioned above, I do still hold him accountable since this is his practice. The onus is on Dr. Goldberg to ensure that his staff are not lacking in integrity or alienating customers but it could also suggest that this type of behavior trickles from the top down. Either way, I do not advise on coming here.
