I found out in San Diego that a relatively small mistake in grinding a lens can be pretty horrible when driving a car. I came to Dr. Christopher Renner with my San Diego glasses and he found the small mistake and got me new, perfect lenses. I am so happy now when I drive. When I gave myself a gnarly corneal abrasion causing terrible discomfort, my wife (who is a patient here) told me I should give them a call to have it checked out. Thankfully they were able to fit me in that same day and I saw Dr. Vinh, who diagnosed my abrasion and immediately alleviated my discomfort with numbing drops and a contact lens bandage over my cornea, prescribing me antibiotic drops to take to prevent an eye infection. Long story short I leaned the very hard way that I am allergic to a specific type of antibiotic eye drop (which for the record Dr. Vinh said was quite rare) and my eye swelled up and became badly inflamed overnight, causing me to return the next day and see Dr. Perry, who took great care of me and gave me steroid drops to bring down the inflammation. A day later and my eye was as good as new, and I saw Dr. Vinh again who gave me a clean bill of health. Simply put, I could not have been in better hands than I was with NOVA Vision Center. The professionalism and care that I experienced from the receptionists to the techs to the doctors was second to none. These folks are good at what they do, they truly care about their patients, and it shows. I now look forward to making them my new eye care place in the future, hopefully next time under better circumstances! :) read more

I had been a regular for 15 years at my previous doc in Landmark Mall until they closed, then spent anearly five years of going to every single option close to my home. Finally I broadened my search to find Yelp's top rated optometrist in northern Virginia. That was three years ago. Today, my son is a patient, my husband is a patient, and even my ex husband is a patient. Terrific staff who go out of their way to be sure your eyes are healthy, and that your prescription is exactly what you need. (And boy do I mean PATIENT - I'm not the easiest person to fit for contacts, and I've always felt supported here.) Thank you team! read more

Updating my review - the office was great and I still stand by that but the billing department.. I'm not sure if it was an off day but the rudeness and just complete disdain I received on the phone was both uncalled for & unprofessional. I understand (not entirely) billing insurance wrong but when faced with the need for correction it shouldn't end in a yelling match. Chanel, the representative I was speaking with, is giving this practice a bad name and until either she's gone or her attitude is fixed it's not worth the trouble going here. read more

It is a well appointed office, with kind and respectful staff and a wide selection of frames. I was able to easily pick up my old results a year later. However, here's the thing. I needed 2 exams within a short period of time because of back and forth changing vision. I already have an ophthalmologist (an MD) that I see annually. I told the optometrist at this practice that my vision insurance covers one eye exam a year and glasses at the optometrist, and my medical insurance covers an eye exam during a visit to an ophthalmologist, so I can't get the second exam here. That is standard for insurance. He insisted my insurances would cover a second exam at the optometrist. But they did not, so I was out a bunch of money. He must know how insurance works and the difference between an optometrist and ophthalmologist. He may be an experienced optometrist. But it's a bit of scope creep. I recommend that you save disclosure of any medical issues for your primary care doctor or ophthalmologist. Here, just get your glasses and go. read more

Professionalism - 5/5 Happiness - 5/5 The office is a bit hard to find, but it's worth the search. When he suddenly refused to read, I brought my 7 year old in for an eye test. I wasn't sure whether he was having vision problems or if his refusal to read was stemming from personal issues (my son definitely likes to cry wolf). They performed an array of tests to determine the answer, freely acknowledging that his issues may not be stemming from his vision. That's the sign of a good doctor, when they acknowledge not every issue is a physical/medical one. It turned out the answer was neither - it was a muscular problem that can be fixed with a few months of specialized treatment (or so we hope!). That level of detail and knowledge to consider all options is a big plus. They have numerous machines and everyone there had a friendly demeanor. We ended up arriving late for our appointment, but they still welcomed and accommodated us. Best of all, it's a one-stop shop as they also sell glasses there. Highly recommended! read more

I've been going here for many years and decided it was time to write a review so others can learn what a great practice this is. I need a prism adjustment in my prescription and my right eye is very sensitive to this adjustment. First, Dr. Rinearson and then Dr. Perry worked with me to iron out the issues. The last triumph was when Dr. Perry figured out why my new glasses were hurting me so much despite being the same prescription of my old glasses and now I can wear them with no problems. Beyond that, shout-out to Carlos who also got involved with my prism issues and patiently guided me towards the right path. Plus he has fixed several temple issues for my glasses. Tried to talk me into expensive treatment for my son after explaining to him my son had completed a similar treatment in another state prior to our move. He seemed very impressed with himself. Dr. Renner has been my sons eye care doctor for over 15 years and he is excellent! The developmental eye examine takes more time but we have never felt rushed. The most recent appointment they were running late but they let us know which was nice. There is a Duncan Donut next door which is convenient if your early. Parking is easy. I am very picky about our doctors in general so be assured you will be taken care of well. read more

I started with Dr. Renner when I was 17 yrs old, after discovering I couldn't see far away. He was always my Doctor, even when I moved out of Virginia, to North Carolina, I would drive up and see family and make an Eye appointment. The last few years, we dealt with a left eye that was difficult to say the least, my prescription in that eye changed every 3 months. Talk about a pain in the neck, but Dr. Renner always reassured me that we would figure it out, and I wasn't a lost cause just yet. In 2018 that left eye finally decided it had, run it's course in contacts. I had cataract surgery on both eyes. I moved after those surgeries, and am no longer living close enough to drive home to see Dr. Renner, and I miss that. Virginia will always be home to me, as I start a new chapter in Kansas. read more

Took my 4 yearold son here at the advice of a local parents group and really enjoyed our experience with Dr. Perry. My son was nervous and did not want to go to the eye dr. Some of the preliminary tests before we saw the doctor were a little rough but everyone was very nice. Dr Perry was good working with him. We haven't picked up the glasses yet, but my son is already excited (after previously saying he didn't want glasses) and asked to go back to the eye doctor instead of to school today.
