In a lot of ways, I feel like if you've been to one Visionworks (or other vision/eyeglass shop), you've been to them all. Almost all of them have a decent selection of glasses, they're usually organized well and the facilities are clean. Despite the fact that we live in DC, for the past few years we've been going to the Visionworks in Lanham. The experience there was good but not great, but out of convenience, we kept going there. So when a Visionworks in DC opened up at Dakota Crossing, we decided to give them a shot. And guess what?! It was a 5 star experience. So what made the difference you ask?!... I'll tell you. It was THE STAFF! From the time we stepped into the door to the time we left we were well taken care of. They got us checked in immediately, the wait wasn't long and soon we were picking out our new glasses. Toya and Jennifer were awesome!!! They both went above and beyond to help us in picking the perfect pair of glasses. Toya even went and looked for specific frames that matched what I told her I was looking for that weren't on display and those were the pair that I ended up buying. The service there was nothing less than stellar and we will definitely be coming to this Visionworks from now on. And to top it all off, they have AMPLE parking which can often be tricky in DC. If you're looking for a great place to get your annual vision screening and pick up a fly new pair of glasses, I'd definitely make an appointment here! read more

I scheduled an eye exam for noon and I was not seen until 1:30. I was not alone in waiting for 90 minutes. Some waiting to be seen left because they could not wait that long. Maybe if a customer came in just to buy glasses, it would be fine. But do not use this location for exams. read more

The customer service at this location is atrocious. I showed up early for my appointment on a Saturday, and was still seen over 30 min after my scheduled appointment time because the two people who had appointments scheduled earlier than me that showed up 5 and 10 min late for their appointment times were seen first, on top of the doctor taking a 30 min break while I was waiting. Why would you reward bad behavior and punish people who show up on time? And why would you have scheduled appointment during the time allotted for the doctor's break? This place just wants to waste all of your time. read more

I went to the location at 2460 Market Street NE Washington, DC 20018. The customer service is horrific. I had an appointment on 12/30 at 2:00 pm. I arrive at 1:55 pm. The lady said she would be right with me. I sat down for 15 mins then I asked her am I suppose to check in. She looks me up in the computer and sees I have a 2:00 pm appointment. She says the doctor is behind, he's with his 12:45 pm appointment. Of course things happen, but why no one had the decency to give me a call? Why she allowed me to sit for 15 mins before checking to see the Time of my appointment while knowing he is behind schedule? All in all, do not go to this location. They are ghetto, disgustingly unprofessional, does not respect their customer's time and has poor time management. I'm only giving them 1 star because yelp will not allow me to give a 0. read more

I'm currently waiting for my apt as I write this review. I've been waiting for 90minutes and have been told maybe another 30. Apparently a system is down and I'm screwed. That gets a 2 star review. Why I'm giving a 1 star is because no one told me. When I spoke to the person who is coordinating care he didn't seem to care. No one said I'm sorry, it's a terrible inconvenience or anything??! Impatient, rude, making MAGA political "jokes" ("My mother voted "Democrat" for the first time in her life. She died 5 years ago" - yuk, yuk, yuk). Dude, you're an eye doctor in DC working at Visionworks (in a predominantly Black area of DC), which is a preferred provider for the government, probably not a good idea to make right wing conspiracy nonsense political "jokes." The staff is fast and friendly. The doctor Feri-Doni was really concerned about me sleeping in my contacts which was good! She moved through the process quickly, partly bc she was ready to go, however I didn't trip because she was thorough and I'm a bit impatient as well! The staff was awesome! Toya has tremendous taste. Besides my wife, she is the only person who has been able to pick out frames for me that I actually purchased...and they were fly too, as I am very picky! After reviewing their selection, I lost all hope in finding glasses, however Toya, came out of a special drawer only for the flyest of individuals. Tip: Ask for Toya to help you pick out your glasses! Jennifer was really cool and accommodating. It was clearly the end of the day and we were the last customers but they didn't rush us out. I wish I could give zero stars. The appointment started an hour late. The doctor was remote. They said they would cash when my contacts came in so that I could come in to confirm the prescription, but they never ordered the lenses. When I came for my follow up they had no record of the appointment so I had to come back a third time. When I called to ask for an email copy of the prescription to order lenses elsewhere at a better price, they said they have a policy of not emailing and that I would have to come in again. I cannot call in because their automated answering system puts me in a loop and never connects me with a live person. The place seems habitually understaffed and overwhelmed. This is in part due to too much side chatter by some staff, casual comings and goings by other staff, and just a limited sense of urgency. Both times I was there, it took over 1.5 hours to get out of there, which is about an hour too much. The saving grace is that the staff is nice, for the most part. DO NOT COME HERE. My appointment was at 1 pm. They called 10 minutes before when I was already on my way to say they were running 45 minutes late because of technical problems. I turned around and came back at 1:45 pm. Waited 45 minutes to see the doctor. Everyone before me had waited at least that long as well. Please don't go to Visionworks for your glasses. The optometrists are wonderful; but the people in front are horrible. They are either ignorant or malicious; I do not know which. Everytime I have an eye exam the optometrists are knowledgeable and competent. But, the people in front are misinformed or intentionally misinform me of options that everyone else knows about and if not offered states others do offer. The only option at Visionworks is to buy the digital progressives for $500. read more

The staff in the store is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The optometrist often runs late - even if you are the first or only appointment. The staff is taking great COVID precautions, however the tardiness of the optometrist causes people to gather for extended periods in the store. read more

Went in for an eye appointment on May 25th. Ordered glasses that day. I was promised they would arrive by June 5th. On June 5th I called to check on the status of my order and was informed that my lenses had been placed into the incorrect frames, or they sent the wrong glasses to the store, and they would have to be reordered. Was told I would receive a call back shortly (within the hour). Waited 3 hrs with no call. Called the store back and was told there was nothing they could do. Representative offered I could get the non-thin version of my glasses today and get reimbursed for price difference. I said no, I wanted what I ordered and asked if the reorder could be expedited. She told me yes, that they would be in June 7th. I called back June 7th and spoke with the manger (not general manger, who is a step up and was out for the day) who told me they cannot expedite orders and their system shows my glasses are still at the factory and expected in June 13th, almost a week later than what I was told two days prior. GM is not in so I have to call back Monday to speak with her. Lying, misleading company and employees with no regard for their customers or the inconvenience they cause them. read more

For it being by first time ever visiting Visionworks, it was not a great experience. In terms of the positive, this place was clean and there seems to be a wide selection of glasses, so that was good. The staff on the other hand seemed overwhelmed and it showed through their attitudes, particularly the manager Jennifer, and the other girl who does the "pretest". The pretest girl took me to a room and told me to sit down as she cleaned off the machines. I waited for her to tell me what the machine would be measuring but when she didn't, I asked her; she then responded with an attitude, saying she would tell me after she cleans the machines. I worked as an ophthalmic technician for 6 years, it was never that hard to wipe a machine with an alcohol swab and simultaneously explain to the patient what was being done with a given machine...it's called multitasking. Jennifer also came off very rude at times but managed to be a bit nicer as she was taking my payment at the end of my visit. The doctor was pleasant, she seemed to be in a rush as well but not to the point where I felt ignored or uncomfortable to ask a question. Would I come back again?...probably not unless I really had no choice. read more

I just walked in without much of a plan and walked out with two amazing pairs of glasses (one sunglasses and one regular glasses). The Store Manager who helped me, Jennifer, was extremely kind, patient, and friendly. Such a comfortable atmosphere. I recommend this to anyone looking for glasses. I have a Costco Membership so I thought I would get glasses there but the huge variety and helpful staff made Visionworks the place to shop. When I slipped on my new glasses at Visionworks@ I experienced the joy of improved sight. It was as if someone turned on the lights. My Son and I needed new glasses. The process can be tedious, but here it was such a pleasure from start to finish. Everyone was so gracious and welcoming. The technicians and management were professional, patient and informative throughout the selection process and the quality of the eyewear is spectacular. I was in the store today and last week. Toya and Jennifer were very professional and helpful. Aside from this they are very pleasant and cooperative with their patients. My questions were answered. Various frames were showed to me and I was able to select the ones that I wanted. My glasses were ready in ten days which is great. I hate having to wait two weeks or more. The prices are very reasonable. I am very pleased with the pair of glasses which I purchased last week and can hardly wait for my new ones to be ready. There's another pair which I want to get in October. Reference was made to the frame and placed in my folder. The store is located near my home which is another advantage. Communications at this location is very poor. They don't communicate with the customers if it's a delay or even to pickup glasses. Customer service needs improvement.
