My details were verified. My Eye pressure was checked along with Eye glass number check up. I was asked about my symptoms by the Nurse. Everything was noted down systematically. After that, I was in the waiting room. The Doctor Ms. Patel came and saw me, took the time to explain my symptoms, checked my eyes and sent the prescription directly to my Pharmacy. Ms. Patel also saw that I was comfortable with the medication prescribed and asked me to call their office if I was uncomfortable and gave me a follow up appointment. Ms. Patel and the office is very professional and I will ask other customers to visit the same as you are not rushed and Doctor takes time to explain things clearly. This was my very first visit. My mother developed an eye infection, and a friend recommended the MD Eye Care Center in…read moreHyattsville. Beginning at 3:16pm, I called 3 times until someone answered. I called to see if we could visit as a walk-in. The center closes at 5pm. I was told at 3:26pm that they were not taking walk-ins - which I accepted. As I looked through the website to try and schedule an appointment, I read that the center accepts emergency walk-ins. So, we decided to rush and head over to the center while arriving almost an hour and 15 minutes before closing. After speaking with employee Daphne, she shared the same messaging (including only walk-ins for emergencies). I told her it is an emergency and to look at my mother's eye. That prompted some sort of sympathy to try and help us. A few employees continued to chime in and "try" to support but confused us even more. Some saying they don't have appointments and that the doctor's are already gone or wrapping up. We were even told that walk-ins stopped at 2:40pm! Mind you, no where on the website or signage throughout the center mentions anything about the aforementioned! Daphne dares to ask, "why do you have an attitude? I helped your mom get an appointment." Again, her colleague just told us there weren't any appointments available to which I mentioned false advertising and reporting to the Better Business Bureau (which I plan to do). Mixed messages! To top it off, another employee decided to talk about us to Daphne in a way that was conniving and caused concern. Daphne refused to give me her name and the employee was scared to share it. I just knew she looked manly with horrible clown makeup. She was heard telling Daphne saying something to the effect of "don't worry, we have him on a recorded line telling him about not accepting walk-ins, don't worry, I got you." Daphne then hangs the phone because her colleague "helped" her. Again, I already knew about no walk-ins. We were there because they take emergency walk-ins (per website and Daphne's words). So, I thought. False advertisement. Finally, we were called to a room but to see a clinic (manager) instead of an actual medical professional. While the clinic manager helped us find another clinic for the next morning, she was not empathetic to my apology and concern about Daphne and her colleague. Overall, I do NOT recommend going to the Maryland Eye Care Center due to misinformation and false advertising of walk-in/emergency times.

Plus all of the staff are friendly and helpful. I recently had a problem with my right eye which scared me. I woke up with sticking and tears streaming from my eye and I had problems seeing clearly from that eye. I thought it would soon go away but it didn't, it actually got worse. The following day I went into Thompson Eye Care but Dr Gerald wasn't there so I saw Dr Kathryn. She was super helpful and gentle with my eye. She ran thorough exams and explained everything she was doing. By the time she was through my eye felt a bit better and she called in prescription which I picked up that night and I was told to return the next day. The following day my eye felt better but still had the same symptoms this time I saw Dr Gerald who greeted me and told me Dr Kathryn apprised him of my problem. He ran a couple tests and took photos and he explained what he was seeing. He asked me some questions which made me realize that I had wiped my eye with a tissue and it scratched my eye. This caused the discomfort and an infection. This is the reason I have been coming to this place for my eye care. This father/daughter team is super able to make me feel taken care of. Over the years I have had my eye problems handled effectively, they are both patient and helpful. I actually know a couple of neighbors who also come here and they both love their services.

The optician who unlocked the door after I rang the bell said he would check to see if they had the parts. When he didn't return immediately I knew they did, and that gave me time to appreciate the extreme covid measures: wide distancing, universal masking, hand sanitizer on every counter. 10 minutes, $10, and my cherished Zeiss shades should be good for another 20 years. I'm a fan!
