The staff at this location of MyEyeDr are extremely professional and knowledgeable, while also being kind, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable. The entire experience feels smooth and well organized. Dr. Miller is a true professional and clearly a leader in his field. The office runs very efficiently, but never in a way that feels rushed. They take the time to make sure you feel comfortable and well cared for. Overall, it's an excellent practice and I highly recommend them. read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Miller and the team at MyEyeDr, L Street. Dr. Miller is always professional and friendly. I have been seeing him for 17 years, and I continue to come to DC after moving to Alexandria. The staff at this location goes above and beyond to help. Monica is the GM, and she is always helpful and professional. She just wants to make sure the customer is happy. Tiffany is the smiling face you will normally encounter at the front desk. Her laugh is infectious. read more

I've had good experiences at MyEyeDr on L street. The front-of-store staff is very friendly and helpful. Every time that I have been, it seems like they care about the patients and want to make sure you have a good experience. The optometry tech was fine, not friendly but not rude either. I liked Dr. Nguyen. She was kind and professional. I got my prescriptions updated, which was the main thing I needed. I like that you can book online. It's very convenient. read more

During my very first visit to 233 Pennsylvania Ave. S.E. in November - December 2024, I was being fitted for eyeglasses, but I wasn't asked how I would wear my eyeglasses. (I had never been fitted for eyeglasses before) Because of this, I had to make unnecessary, totally inconveniencing visits back and forth to have my lenses adjusted. Now, I'm still making visits to have my bifocal lens fixed, and it's April 2025. They keep messing up with the lens adjustments, and I'm sick of it. I will not ever go back for another pair of glasses. I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THESE FOLK TO YOU. read more

I visited here while on vacation in the wintertime. I needed a yearly eye exam to keep lifetime warranty from being voided as I had lasik done. I made an appointment online, which was super easy. All the forms needed was also completed online. I had to pay $138 for exam and retinal eye imaging. I was told that I had perfect vision still! The staff was friendly and the office was clean. I was in an out in less than 1hr ! The unfortunate part is that when I called to send the exam results, I was told it was no longer required for warranty. The bright side is that vision is still well :) read more

I didn't buy any glasses at this store, nor did I have an eye exam. But first, let me ask you a question. When was the last time you had your sun or eye glasses adjusted, for free, at a store that you didn't buy them from? Well, I have had issues getting my many pairs of glasses adjusted. So I thought I'd try the first glasses place I walked by, which happened to be MED. I asked if they could do it, and sure enough, Ms. Anjela not only adjusted them for free (and did a great job), she didn't charge me (charging has become a common practice--even in stores where I've actually purchased very expensive glasses!). Further, she was cheerful and professional. If I did happen to need yet another pair of glasses, MED would be my first stop. read more

Be warned: Apparently, there's a new, unadvertised policy in place where after booking an appointment online and receiving a confirmation email, the patient still needs to call the office to confirm the appointment. Otherwise they will cancel your appointment and not call or email to tell you it's canceled. You just get to find out after you're already on your way and taken time off of work. Bottom line, its a racket ... they set up tele conference calls so that you can have multiple appointments in order for the do constantly bill your insurance. The staff at the location we were really great at avoiding eye contact and being genuinely helpful to one another. They enjoyed cupcakes and chit chat will avoiding clients. MyEyeDr in Calera with Dr Jeremy Barron was the worst experience I've ever had for an eye exam. Dr Barron was rude, arrogant and name calling. He did not examine my eyes at all...just changed lens...is this better or worse, etc. He called me dumb and hard headed and claimed that I had never had a proper eye exam. He said that anyone that recommends or uses Monovision is stupid. Even though I've been a patient of MyEyeDr in Calera for years. If I could give a negative star rating I would. read more

MyEyDr continues to deliver bad customer service. After spending hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars over the last few years on contacts, when I run out and need a few trial pairs before my boxes of contacts arrive (with a valid prescription from them) they refuse because I "didn't buy a years worth of contacts". This is a hard thing to review and rate. Dr Arnold is fabulous. I saw him 6 weeks ago and had a rather expensive eye exam and contact exam. When I told the woman manager that I would be getting my glasses at Costco unless they can beat the price or at least come close. My glasses at Costco at $258. I told her this. Best she could do was $800. Wasted her time and mind. I called today to find out where my contact were that dr Arnold ordered for me to try. 6 weeks ago mine you. After a lengthy pause I was told that they were mailed to my address. I questioned this as why would Dr Arnold not want to see the contacts on my eyes - they're quite complicated. She said yes they were mailed to your home. I asked her to place me on hold so she could get her story straight and talk to Dr Arnold. Next lie was it takes 4-8 weeks to get. Was told may 12 it would be 2-3 weeks. Had enough lies at this point. Asked her to find out the truth and talk to dr Arnold and then text me. Nothing still. I go out of my way to go to Dr Arnold. read more

Dr. Miller and his team are efficient, competent, and courteous! When I arrived, they were ready with my insurance information, and I just had to confirm my address before proceeding with my check-up. This was my second eye exam with Dr. Miller. The first time I went, I brought my current glasses and explained to Dr. Miller that I wore them very infrequently as they did not feel comfortable. After the exam he indicated that my current glasses did not have the correct prescription and in fact while I am barely near sighted, it's really only my astigmatism that needed correction. When he completed the pick a lens exercise and showed me what my new glasses would feel like - it was amazing. I could see clearly and my eyes felt no strain at all. He also made sure my glasses had some sort of coating to help avoid eye strain from the computer at work. That was over a year ago, and I wear my glasses ALL THE TIME. Before, I would only reluctantly wear them when I drive, but these new glasses are just fantastic. I see so much better now and there is NO strain. I just returned from my second appointment and my vision actually improved! He is a kind and personable Doctor and is genuinely interested in his patients. The staff in the store are great too - they don't pressure you and will let you try on every pair in the store without complaint, even when you end up getting the same frames you had in a different color! Ash was very patient with me. :) read more

I visited the Pennsylvania Ave, SE location. At my first visit, I was asked to give my glasses to a staff member for "measurements". I found this odd because I wasn't even asked if I was getting new glasses. I've worn glasses for years and this has never happened when I walked in for an exam. As I was leaving, it appeared my glasses had been switched, but I found this was my mistake, and called back to apologize. I decided not to get frames, but to bring them at a later date for the lens to be put in. I took a pair of old glasses in on December 30th for my new lens to be put in. I got a text on January 8th that my glasses were ready for pick up. Great! I thought. I went in on the 10th to pick them up. Well, they had my glasses alright. The very same ones that I left! The glasses I dropped off had scratches on the top of the bifocal line. The glasses they were giving me to pick up had scratches on top of the bifocal line! I know this because I deliberately scratched them. I got a lot of excuses about why my new lens were not in the frames. I was told "maybe the lab was so busy they thought they changed them", "I don't know how this happened", etc. After about 30 minutes of waiting, I was told by David the glasses would be sent to the lab and it would take a week and a half before they would be ready. I picked up my glasses on January 26th. They finally got it right. The problem is no one took responsibility for the initial issue. No apology, no discount, nothing! When I need new glasses in a year or two, it definitely won't be with MyEyeDr! read more

I chose MyEye Doctor because of the convenient location, and the fact that they took my insurance, or so they said! I went in for an eye exam and the next thing I know, I've spent over $150 for lenses, which I never intended to spend on that first appointment. I felt like I was strong-armed into getting overpriced lenses, that just so conveniently would be ready that same day. I felt like I had no choice! Not only could I not afford to pay for the lenses that day, they offered no other solutions. They wait until you have your eye exam, and get everything checked before they kindly tell you the extreme amount of money you will have to pay out of pocket! Outside of that, the staff was friendly but I am not sure I will be returning there. read more

I've been going to this MyEyeDr. location since 2013. Here are all the reasons why: 1) Their staff is usually very professional and friendly. They go out of their way to help me find the best frames, get the most out of my insurance, and make sure the products fit my needs and budget. 2) I love their online appointment scheduler. 3) I receive text alerts when my frames or lenses are ready for pickup. 4) The doctors are very kind and patient. 5) They match online prices. The only negative experience I had was on my last appointment. The person who led me through the eye exam machines was a little rude. She didn't speak clearly and she gave me an attitude when I asked her to clarify (e.g. left vs. right). Otherwise, I have no complaints about this location. read more

Part 1 I purchased glasses from MyEyeDr two years ago and have been very happy with them. It was time to get new glasses and included them in my extensive search for new frames. I ended up in the L Street location and the service I received was great, I already had a prescription and had purchased a Groupon deal. The sales guy was extremely helpful and I picked out a new Ray-Ban frame. I was told they would have to confirm that they could order them but if they could it would take about two weeks to arrive. Received a call back about a week later to pay the balance and that the frames were available. A week later another call this time to tell me that they couldn't order them after all. Now they start the process over as I need larger frames than are normally kept in stock. I will update this review once I actually have new glasses in hand, hopefully I'll be able to give a better rating. read more

MyEyeDr will not be MY eye Dr any longer. So here's the deal, I went in for a glasses and contact exam last week; the initial experience went well, I was met courteously, seen right away and was initially happy with my experience, although I was charged $30 for some "mandatory" retinal scan which is not covered by ANY insurance, so thinking about it now, I doubt it should be mandatory... Anyhow, when I was checking out and was paying for my exam I was asked if I wanted to purchase glasses or lenses that day, I said no, as I was in a hurry, and secretly I wanted to do some price comparison online. The person checking me out must have read my mind and said that they price match with other stores or online distributors. I thanked him and headed out. Well, flash forward a couple of days, I ended up dropping one of the sample lenses provided to me at the appointment and was forced to use old lenses, with an old prescription that were now giving me a headache. This put my search into gear. I founded lenses online for $19/box, called Myeyedr for that promised price match and was told that "Well...actually only price match with SOME retailers and only go as low as SOME prices.." They sold the same lenses for $60 and weren't budging. Needless to say I got my lenses online. I did stop by the store to see if I can get another sample to hold me over but was told they were "out" of my very common lens. I asked if I could stop by a different myeyedr, since I was in such a bind, and they pointed me in the direction of the one in DuPont Circle. I called them ahead of time to see if they had a sample pair I could pick up, or really to see if they were willing to extend good customer service, but the person I spoke with said that since I didn't order lenses from them they weren't willing to provide me with a sample. Here's how I feel about this: The contact lens exam is an extra $55, not covered by insurance, but offers you the opportunity to come back for multiple visits with the eye Dr, until you find the perfect lens, which includes countless sample lenses. You got my fee and should be happy I am not tying up time with the Dr, all I need is another sample pair. Instead I was treated with passive aggressive BS at two separate locations. I will not be coming back, and I will make sure I will let my friends know before they consider this brand as well! read more

Purchased 3 pairs of eyewear from My Eye Doctor , 2 for myself and 1 for my wife . 342 dollars after insurance coverage . I made an appointment to have an eye exam. They included the eye dilation on my bill. I informed the staff I had already had my eyes dilated for my optometrist earlier last week. I went in and they proceeded to prep my eyes for dilation- again I explained I had , had a diabetic health eye check and it was for floaties. My optometrist previously said there was nothing to be done. And my eyes were healthy. The clinic insisted and said they would would be giving me a more thorough exam. Right then I certainly should have stopped the staff and left the office immediately - but when you have 3 staff members putting eye drops in my eye then taking me to their expensive machine to give me a more thorough exam. And talking fast about , making sure "I didn't have a detached retina"- I didn't have time to think- And after the exam the cost was 184.00. I was informed my eyes were healthy, just aging, they didn't offer any other advice other than to say if your floaties get worse to give them a call. This practice is unethical. read more

Find another eye doctor. After ordering custom contacts that took a month to make, I received a phone call that my contacts had arrived and I scheduled an appointment to pick them up. I unfortunately went to MyEyeDr on L street on the recommendation of colleagues. Their practice is close to me and I was able to book an appointment online very easily. My experience checking, filling out paper work, and the exam was OK. That's the Pro. All the rest is con. My exam cost me $175 which is more than I've ever paid at previous eye doctors. When I called on the phone I was told they took my insurance. After the fact that was proven not to be true. Here's the meat of the bad review: After you exit the optometrist's examine room you are then herded into a high-pressure-assumptive-sale pitch where sales associates pretty much demand you buy new frames, replace your lenses and/or buy contacts I didn't plan on buying glasses that day nor did I have time to shop around. I took a quick look around at glasses after some myopic strong-arming and got some attitude when I said didn't see anything I liked. I was then quoted for contacts that cost $300 more than what I'm currently paying for the same brand / similar RX. MyEyeDr made it pretty awkward to try to check-out only paying for an eye exam. Before leaving I asked for a copy of my contact lenses and eye glass prescription. The sales associate made a face then rudely told me when I come back to make a purchase from them my information is on file so there's no need to give me copies of my prescriptions. After feeling swindled by MyEyeDr and my prescription held captive I was fortunate to have been helped by my hometown optometrist who did a follow up examine at a discount. I had the empty contact lens containers of the samples MyEyeDr gave me and after my hometown eye doctor completed the examine he was in disagreement with the contact lens prescription from MyEyeDr and gave me a different prescription. My hometown Dr. also gave me paper copies of both my prescriptions as is common practice with reputable practices. MyEyeDr did contact me because I posted a negative review here and offered me free contacts but given how untrustworthy this company is I'm opting to take the $175 loss and move on. Please look into MyEyeDr carefully before deciding to do business with them. Aside from being out a significant amount of money I've had to also struggle with not being able to see properly for some time due to MyEyeDr's focus on making money over providing ethical service and proper exams. read more

Let me just say I haven't picked up my glasses from this place yet but here's my experience. I picked this spot because they take my insurance and are in my neighborhood. The dr. there seems really thorough. He sat and talked to me for a long time about this picture of my eye. I didn't really need all of that information, but oh well. Then I picked out my glasses. The guy behind the counter picked some right away that I really liked -- but I didn't love. He seemed to not want to help me find another pair (kind of like "This is what you should have, and nothing else.") I sat there for a long time before the staff eventually gave in and brought me another style, which I really loved. Here's the problem with this place, though. The prices are STEEP and they're not marked on the glasses as you're trying them on. Basically, they want you to fall in love with a pair and then they tell you it's $500. I'm not kidding. Also, they have buy-one-get-one-free coupons on their web site. If you don't bring one with you, you're screwed. Unlike other stores, they don't have the coupon deals available on display and they won't tell you about them. read more

I am truly disappointed by this shop. Not only met some really rude sales people here, but also felt robbed after purchasing. The PRO of this shop obvious, convenient location and accept my insurance. But it does mean they can charge the same frame for 50 dollar more than a high-end boutique shop at Soho NYC. And the 175 usd prescription is unprecedented. Oh, and they do not give u a paper copy. Even though you pay for extra, they do not guaranty a fast deliverable. It took me almost a month to wait for the order of my frame. Now here is the best part. After trying for the new glasses for the first time, I can tell clearly that the glasses gave me a huge distortion. There must be something wrong. But the sales lady made a face at me as if this was my first time wearing a glass, and encouraged me to give it a try for another day or two. I left the shop unconvinced. But before I got to the next block, I was 100% sure the glass was not right. So I returned to the shop. This time, they sent someone to check my frame instead truly check their own work. Adjusting the fame helped a bit. The sales man explained how there could be a distortion. After this I have been struggling with the huge distortion and the headache it gave me for a whole day. When I got home after work, I dug my old prescription. Aha, they got my left and right eye prescription reversed!!! Good job! And when I tried to wear my glasses upside down, it fixed all the distortion. This is a super slow shop, found by people who are rude, refusing to double check their own work and indifferent to their customer. Hope this review is helpful. read more

This place sucks. Dr. Miller is great; I was really happy with the eye exam and his explanations throughout. He talked with me, not at me. However, the frame selection is TERRIBLE. I thought it was just me, but no. Everyone I complained to let me know I was the only person in DC not aware of how truly shitty their selection is. But i was desperate for new frames and it was the end of a long day, so I became the owner of a pair of mediocre, but totally expensive (boo!) glasses. I counted down the days until my insurance would cover the next pair of frames. Now, as I attempt to buy frames from a new company, MyEYEDr is holding my pupil distance hostage. Dr. Miller should set up shop with a new staff. I'd suggest anyone looking for cute frames, from a great company, visit WarbyParker.com. Affordable, quick, and a really pleasant, competent staff. read more

I ran out of contacts recently, so I knew it was time for the dreaded visit - the annual exam. Since I'm pretty much entirely blind, I dread it because every time I think my prescription is the same and I'm a step closer to corrective surgery, it always ends up changing and then I have to start the lasik countdown all over again. I made an appointment (2 days from when I called, plus in the evening - sweet!) Dr. Miller was great this time around - he explained everything to me and suggested a contact that would allow more oxygen to reach my eyes. He showed me the retinal photos they took which was actually really cool, and he showed me what exactly I was looking at and how that factors into my severe myopia. For example, did you know that a stretched optic nerve is an indicator of myopia? Fun fact! With the eye exam, a year's supply of contacts, glaucoma test and retinal photos, it came to $300. I don't have vision insurance, so they had knocked off an extra $150. They really do want to save you money here! I'm set to go back next week for a follow-up visit to make sure that the new contacts are working out for me. I'll absolutely continue to go to My Eye Dr. read more

I have been going to MyEyeDr for years, previously in Vienna, VA. This company continues to offer promotions, whether it is discounts on contacts or the annual eye exam plus frames & lenses, you typically spend $200-$250 all in (frames alone cost $300-$600 depending on the brand). When I recently visited this location last month I was having a hard time making a decision - the Tom Ford frames I really wanted were too small for my face and every frames I tried on did not seem to work. A young lady came up and helped me, gave me some real talk (I tried on 6-7 pairs and she would flat out say yes or no). We ended up finding a pair of Prada frames but the frame color in the store was black which was ok but I wanted something more cute and funky. She proceeded to look online and find the same frames in different colors and ended up finding a purple/red/blue speckled design which was amazing! The frames had to be specially ordered but arrived on Black Friday (my exam was the previous Wednesday). In all, this place is affordable (if you are a deal stalker like myself), convenient (one block from Farragut North metro) and exams are fast (~30 min). Thank you! read more

I've had two eye exams here and ordered two years-supplies of contacts and a pair of glasses. I've never had any difficulty getting an appointment, getting out in a reasonable amount of time, or getting a pretty good price. Dr. Miller is very approachable, funny, and personable. He asks questions to make sure he's getting all the information he needs, but he never made me feel like I'd given the wrong answer (you know, when a doctor asks you something like "What was your last prescription? 1.25 or 1.5? What was the brand name?" and you say, "...um...I...um..." and they look at you and sigh? He didn't do that.) He went through my vision test quickly and precisely. I was not, and never am, in the mood to shop around various eyeglasses stores for a better price/cooler frames. I wanted to one-stop-shop for eye exam/contacts/glasses, even if it turned out to be pricier. My Eye Dr.'s selection is good. They have a lot of modern looking frames as well as a lot of the big brand names like Gucci and Prada. I have seen bigger selections in other stores, but theirs was fine for my needs. If you're pickier than I am or have a certain look in mind, or just want more selection, you might want to try out another place. When I went to pick out my glasses, there was a young woman and a young man who helped me. I really liked a heavy plastic pair, but they both shook their heads, saying they looked too heavy on my face. Then they both went and found other pairs that had similar qualities and let me try ALL of them on, at least three times each. They opened all the cases for me and let me try on whatever I wanted and even opened their Big Glasses Book to find out about other color options on pairs I took a fancy to. (It takes me forever to make decisions.) In the end, I settled on a really cool pair that really does fit my face a lot better than the first pair I tried. I appreciated all their help. The only annoying thing about my entire visit was that there were a lot of customers coming in, so sometimes I would wait for a long time while they went and helped someone else. I wasn't in a rush, but it would have been nice if they had excused themselves nicely and opened one of the cases for me to look through while they were otherwise occupied. Instead, I sort of milled around looking at glasses in their locked cases, waiting for them to return to help me. (Minus one star.) I didn't bring in my mail coupon but since I was a returning customer they still gave me the substantial discount and a free pair of (really cool) sunglasses. My contacts were ordered and ready for pick up in two days and my glasses took 6 days. They are located very close to Farragut North, so that's pretty convenient if you work downtown or spend a lot of time on the red line. read more

Dr. Miller is wonderful; he is thorough, patient, and funny. He took the time to show me the retinal imaging of both my eyes as he examined them, explaining the anatomy and functions (maybe he picked up on the fact that I'm a huge nerd?). His staff are courteous and kind and I had no trouble getting an appointment for the next day. This location has a hefty selection of Oliver Peoples, so I'm now the proud owner of some pretty chic frames. They take Davis insurance, which is what I have. I was also able to fill out my patient history form online, which saved me time when I arrived for my appointment. Dr. Miller also introduced me to some VERY comfortable toric contact lenses. I had grown tired of those uncomfortable toric lenses from the past but little did I know that there have been a lot of advancements made to make astigmatism suffers a lot more comfortable with "slippery" lenses. All in all, be prepared for some nice people, a great doctor, and a good selection. read more

Dr. Miller is great and takes the time to explain everything thoroughly. My problem is with the staff. I went to My Eye Dr. just for an exam, not to purchase glasses.
