I was heated, especially at the Ho hum, oh well, customer service response. I walked in begrudgingly today for my daughter, who's been experiencing migraines & I'm glad I did. There's a new General Manager named: Latisha, who was really personable, friendly, and good to my family and I. We met with our Optometrist virtually, Dr. April Wellons was also very friendly, thorough, and attentive. Initially, I was concerned about the virtual appointment but all of that was eased relatively quickly, and as long as this new regime is in place, I think I can safely say, I'll be returning as a patient. read more

I do not like giving negative reviews, but I felt it was my duty to do so in this situation. I scheduled an eye exam at Vision Works 4 days in advance. It is the same visonworks that i have used in the past 8 years or so. My appointment was set for 10:30 am. I received at least 2 text messages and 2 emails confirming and reminding me of the appointment. I arrived on time and was told that my appointment had been canceled because I could not be reached by phone to confirm my appointment. If they had an identifier associated with there number, i would have answered the phone. With all of the spam calls these days, if i don't have any idea who is cqlling, i do not answer. if they called they would have reached my voice mail and i would have returned the call. I was offered a 1230 appointment that I declined. I went to America's Best in Glen Burnie, where I received a same-day appointment and excellent customer service. We went into Visionworks to see if they could adjust our sunglasses. On duty was a young gentleman named Marcus. He was amazing. He was so pleasant and willing to help. He analyzed our glasses and said that he could improve the fit but with no guarantees. In a matter of minutes he adjusted the glasses and they fit perfectly. I recently visited this location for a much needed eye exam. This location wasn't the closest to my home, but had the earliest available appointment so I decided to try my hand. Being in the mall, the location wasn't a bit difficult to find but I eventually found the storefront and was greeted by the GM Latisha and the front desk receptionist Jada. For some reason there was an error accessing my insurance information, but I was able to call my insurance company while Dr. S (forgot her name) took care of my exam. Jada and Latisha spoke with the insurance representative and provided their fax number so my policy information could be sent over. Larry assisted me with my product selection and was very informative and friendly. He went through multiple scenarios so I can see what I felt most comfortable with spending at that current time which I loved. The store was very clean and quiet despite it being located inside a mall. I was able to get in and out all within an hour and would definitely recommend visiting this location specifically! read more

Since I have been a customer not only at this location but another, this most recent visit has to be one of the best experiences ever. I arrived a little before my appointment time and was greeted immediately for the check-in process. The check-in was great and the manager was friendly and professional. Thereafter, I was invited to peruse the large selection of eyewear while I awaited the appointment time. After a very brief wait, I was escorted to the back, where I went through a series of routine eye tests. The process was state-of-the-art in my opinion. I learned at that time that this was a tele-health visit instead of meeting with an actual on-site doctor. Though initially skeptical, I soon discovered that this was an amazing process and that I preferred it to meeting with an actual doctor. I found the visit to be much more informative than any other eye exam that I have experienced in the past. The technician was friendly and professional, as was the virtual doctor. The doctor's delivery of information was thorough and his demeanor was affable. Moving forward, I would request the tele-health option over seeing an actual doctor. Overall, the efficiency and effectiveness of the visit left me feeling like a valued customer. read more

The people are very friendly and professional, we always ask for "Karen" as she is always so helpful, knowledgeable and so nice, she will always give you recommendations that suit you the best. I scheduled an appointment with this store and got there a few minutes late. When I walked in the store, I actually stood for 10 minutes, and nobody even acknowledged that I was there, even though they were working with other customers i was literally the only one standing and waiting. they simply kept looking at me as though i was an inconvenience and no one even bothered to say hello. Finally, she asked me "What can I do for you?" not good afternoon, sorry you had to wait, thanks for coming in be right with you in a few minutes, nothing. it was like I invisible. When I told him I had an appointment they went away and came back 10 minutes later to say,"you were late, so we're so we have to reschedule you because they only have a 10 minute grace. I explained that I had standing there waiting, and maybe I should consider taking my business elsewhere because of the seevice. She mumbled something like "do whatever you want to do." I suggested that they be nicer to customers.and clean The carpets. They are in need of a shampooer. The attitudes stank. After all this, I can honestly that was ultimately so thankful they act this way. I went over to Costco, thankfully, they just had a cancellation for an eye appointment. and they treated me so amazingly well, and the glasses where cheaper for namebrand versus offbrand. A recent move to this area cause me to try to do business closer to home rather than work. poor service sent me over to Costco where impeccable service awaited me. Made an appt. for 3-20-21 for myself, my wife and two kids for eye exams and for new glasses. We arrived 5 minutes early before the store hours, however, the door was opened so i walked in and was greeted rudely by one of their associate "Karen" yelling "we are not open!" so i told her that we have an appointment at ten, then she said "well then, come back at ten". I am normally a collected person but don't tolerate rude people and made sure to tell her about it her behavior. There are many ways to talk to a person let alone a customer, if you don't have the patient or the correct attitude for customer service, you should not be in that field. So I came back at ten to cancel all four of our appointments and spoke to the manager named Megan, but she was more focused on cancelling our appointment than addressing one of her employee's behavior. Ms. Sandy is an expert in optometry. I went into this location with a plan to do 100% of the wrong things (for lack of knowledge). I was going to mend a pair of glasses for one, and to get a replacement pair for the other. While both of my sons wear glasses, I do not, so I didn't know very much about glasses or verbiage like pupil distance and hooks (or that you can bend them gently to keep glasses in place). Not only did she educate me on the mechanics of glasses and how to maximize their effectiveness: like when it's most important for them to wear them based on their prescriptions, etc. I really appreciated that when she spoke to me about what I came in for and realized it was not the right way forward, that, as an expert, she looked over charts, looked at our insurance, and educated me on how to move forward. I am at so much more at ease about my kid's glasses and I will always seek out Ms. Sandy if I ever have questions or concerns. She was literally a gem! I cannot say enough about her professionalism! I showed up about 30 minutes early for my appointment so I could look at lenses before my exam in hopes to speed up the process after. I was rudely approached by a women and told me I needed to sign in. With every question she asked as I gave my answer she again rudely talked over my answer asking the next question. I felt very rushed and there was only one other customer in the store. The Girl doing my virtual exam was very nice , took time and explained the process. The virtual exam went fine and I appreciated the Dr going over everything with me. The Gentleman That helped with the picking of frames was not bad. However I was told my glasses would be in with in 5-7 days and I would get a text letting me know I could pick them up. For the second time now I had to make a phone call after 10 days of hearing nothing to see if my glasses were even ready yet only to be told they have been ready for a few days. When I asked why did I not receive notice I was just told once again it happens all the time. Well it definitely does in fact happen because it has happened the 2 times I purchased glasses from you so maybe it is something to look into. When I went to pick up my glasses the same women who was rude the first time was once again a non friendly greeting and was like Name? Follow me.... So I did. Gave me my glasses asked did they fit told be the cloth is meant to be used dry and that was pretty much it. Never a thank you or anything. I absolutely love my doctor there but the service recently has been extremely horrible. I am not sure if they are under new management but the manager Afton, I believe was extremely rude over the phone. I usually order my contact lens online and have my prescription faxed over to the company. This time I called and the manager told me the Company needed to contact Vision Works first. I shared with her that I have already purchased the contacts and they asked for a verification form to be faxed with confirmation that my prescription was correct. I had never had them send a form, so in confusing I asked how would they know what form? She cut me off several times an told me that's how it's done and the records can't be released. After I proceed to ask additional questions she then says well we send a form over to them and then they send it back. To clarify I asked her why did she not say that at first, she made it seem as though I know the process and I couldn't proceed with my request. My point is not only was she extremely rude but continuously showed that she had no respect for her job or the customers that help keep her salary going. I do not appreciate how I was spoken too or the service from Vision Works. So one of my good friends just got married. I haven't had a drink in 6 months. Guess who ends up drunk, and fully clothed in a swimming pool, and without the contacts he entered with. This guy! So the next day I blindly search for a eye doctor and see that this place is near mi casa. Mi amor que ya está en el centro comercial . me llama y dice que si voy más inmediato me van a tomar ahora... Sorry! i was playing with google translate, I said: My love who is already at the mall. Calls me and says that if I come over immediately they will take me now as a walk in. So I make my way over to the mall via a escort from my very helpful mother, and I check into my eye exam and go sit down because i'm still kind of hung over. I get called some time after for a prescreening, and a retinal scan. I look for frames on the wall in which I actually found about 3 pair I really liked. The I sat and waited for the doctor. When the doctor called for me she was very nice, and thorough in explaining what would take place, and what had taken place on my retinal scan. We got through the eye exam and she again explained that my eyes (besides sucking at seeing, which is their main purpose) were in good shape. She then takes me over to try on a trial pair, which I desperately needed, and then sends me to get the rest of my paperwork completed. I ended up getting 50% off my purchase, and that was quite alright with me. i've seen quite a few negative post about this place. Even one that slightly assumed racism and maybe so (I wasn't there), but when I visited my eye doctor was black, the guy who did my prescreening and retinal scan was black, my cashier was asian, and the ladies at the desk were black and white. Its quite the mixing pot in this establishment, and I had a very good experience inside of the store. From my experience I would definitely refer my family and friends to this location. Today I sat for 30 minutes after signing in just for them to "see what I needed" I had a 3pm appt. The time is now 3:29. I would sooner have an eye exam in a hobo's craphole before returning to or recommending this VisionWorks. I had a contact and eyeglass exam in Dec. 2018, after which I ordered a set of contacts, but failed to pick up. In between then and today, I have changed jobs and now have an insurance not currently taken by this piece of dog turd establishment. I needed to order some new contacts so I called this location on Wednesday, May 8. I was first told that the most recent exam they had for me was from 2017. Wrong. After about 10 minutes of misspelling my name, they finally mastered Hooked on Phonics, located my exam record from Dec. 2018 only to tell me they didn't have the contact prescription in stock. Me: Okay fine, can we do another brand? Turdhole 1: Can't do it without doctor consent. Me: Is the doctor in? Turdhole 1: No. Me: When is the next shipment for these contacts? Turdhole 1: Don't know. Me: Okay can you tell me my contact prescription so I can order from 1800 Contacts? Turdhole 1: No, HIPPA laws, but we can fax it to you. Me: I don't have a fax machine. Turdhole 1: You don't have a fax machine? Me: Not nearby, but I'll call back with a fax number or maybe let's just go ahead and order a set over the phone and you can call me when it comes in and by the way, I have a new insurance. Turdhole 1: Sorry we don't take that insurance you'll have to come into the store to get your prescription or we will have to fax it. Me: Call back 10 minutes later to provide the same exact name information again and go through the same 2017 nightmare with a whole new bath salt snorting Turdhole. So I provide the fax number only to be hurried off the phone with a quick acknowledgement that the information would be faxed. Never faxed. 15 minutes of my life wasted. So here it is Saturday, May 11, and I go to the store around 10am. I ask the lady (Turdhole 3) at the counter for a copy of my prescription. She prints out a piece of paper and I ask her to confirm that it includes my contact and eyeglass prescription. Turdhole 3: Oh no it doesn't. She goes back to the "database" (of what I imagine at this point to be written in friggin Mandarin because none of these looney toons know how to use it) only to tell me they don't have a contact exam for me. I tell her I came in Dec. 2018 and had both a contact and eyeglass exam. Then, she asks me if I ordered contacts then. Me: Yes, I did. Turdhole 3: Did you come back to pick it up? Me: No, I didn't. Turdhole 3: Then, we didn't record your contact prescription because you didn't pick it up. Inside Me: WHAT IN THE HEMOGLOBIN HABERDASHERY ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, CRAZY LADY?! Me: So I came in here for an eyeglass and contact exam in Dec and just because I didn't return to pickup the contacts, you guys just didn't record my contact prescription? Then, she tells me well they don't want us to release the prescription information until you come back for your follow up appointment in one week? Inside Me: WHAT ARE YOU EVEN SAYING RIGHT NOW, TURDHOLE? WHICH ONE IS IT? Me: I haven't made any follow up appointment because you guys don't take my new insurance so I'll just never have access to my contact prescription again?!?! Then, this super sized turdhole sack of unprofessionalism masquerading as heroism male employee manages to walk a straight line up to the counter to ask HER (NOT ME, THE CUSTOMER) if SHE'S okay?! This just keeps getting better and better. Finally, the lady whispers something to me, gestures towards the contact prescription on a new sheet of paper she surreptitiously printed out and hands it to me. This is borderline extortion. This is my medical information that I am requesting in person and you're talking to me in a bunch of gibber gabber meth head logic that you don't have it oh but then that I HAVE to come back for a follow up (that I have to pay for) before I can get a copy of prescription from just 6 months ago?!?! This place is awful, a complete joke. There are six to seven people working in this office at any given time, and they will all do their best to avoid eye contact, or provide any useful help. In fact, most of the employees seem to do their best to hurt you - my initial prescription was wildly wrong, there was a stalk of glass jutting out of my frame after they cut the lenses, and the frame was crooked. I signed in for an eye exam, and waited for an hour - when I asked why later walk-ins were being seen first, they realized I'd been skipped. The salesman who rung me up typed with one finger, had no idea how to use the computer, and had no idea how to enter my vision insurance. And, when I went to ask him about my frames, he'd fallen asleep. And, during all of my visits, I witnessed many verbal arguments between staff and customers. My husband and I both get a pair of glasses each. The doctor was very good and attentive. The employees we came across directly were very helpful in the most part. However, there were a few employees who sat around and actively avoiding our eye contact when we stood in front of the counter (when we needed help) even though they were obviously doing nothing and just chatting among themselves. When we picked up the glasses, the manager interrupted the employee who was taking our names down abruptly and directed him to go check on something else. After that, she sat down and supposedly help me "fit" my glasses. She was rude, impersonal and incompetent. She said "oh it is difficult because your nose bridge is very small." From my perspective though, she did not even try and we were just bothering her, even though we had just spent hundreds of dollars at the store. I eventually left with poorly fitted glasses and had to revisit Lenscrafters, which was absolutely unhappy that we did not buy the glasses from them. In short, the manager was rude to the staff and customers. Even though the doctor was good and we met (only) ONE helpful and friendly staff member among many, we hesitate to return. read more

It's really hit or miss with this place. I've gone in before as a walk-in and have had great experiences, as well as come in to buy contact lenses and have done so with ease. My last few experiences have been awful. I came in one day and bought a box of contact lenses and a few weeks later ,while on a road trip ,I stopped at a different visionworks to buy another box and they told me that my prescription had been expired for months and that they couldn't sell me any. So now, I'm on the road,that location didn't have any available walk-in exams and I can't get any contacts. Yesterday I came in to schedule an appointment, the lady scheduled my appointment for today at 2. I come in at 1:55 and I'm given a clipboard to fill out and then I wait for nearly an hour before I ask if I was forgotten. There's a different lady at the front desk by this time who sees no record that I ever had an appointment and tells me she'll make me next as if I hadn't already waited for an hour. I was finally seen at nearly 3 o'clock. thankfully the doctor was quick and friendly but the rest of the staff seemed pretty useless. Let's not forget they ask you do you want glasses,yet even when you say no,they charge you for both exams. Probably will be finding another place from now on, even when visiting Maryland and it's the place I usually visit. read more

It's 1:15. When I called Monday, they didn't have any walk-ins available til today (Weds). So I waited. I get here at 12:10. I'm still waiting. Someone who walked in just ahead of me, WHO SAID SHE DIDN'T HAVE AN APPOINTMENT just left. Someone with a 12:30 appointment is in with the doctor as I sit here waiting. What's the point of scheduling an appointment ahead of time if you have to wait in the not busy waiting room for over an hour. I'm giving 2 stars because the one girl in the back was nice. Otherwise it'd get one. And nobody seems to care that I need to get back to work. **UPDATE** I ended up getting in at 1:30. I was not a happy camper and the staff was aware. I ended up having an eye ulcer and couldn't get the exams one anyways *doh!* but the doctor was very nice and apologetic. He told me to come in first thing on Friday, so they booked me right then. Flash forward: I'm driving in today (Friday) and I get a call letting me know that the doctor is stuck in traffic; the lady who called remembered me from Wednesday and just wanted me to know that doc wouldn't be in til around 10:30. I kept the appointment and I must say, I'm extremely grateful to them for letting me know, and they were nice when I came in, therefore I'm increasing the rating to 3 stars. If I have another good experience I'll update again. I can be forgiving... Nobody's perfect and they are making a real effort :) read more

So, I came to Visionworks for a 3rd time even after I knew I shouldn't. After having issues with the Annapolis and Columbia location, I hoped I'd have a better experience. I first met Miracle, who I should point out is a wonderful person. She's attentive, friendly, and good with people. She helped me do most of the choosing for my actual frames. Then I got sent to another female, whose name I didn't catch. She was the worst employee I had encountered. She gave me nothing but a headache- she didn't help me with my prescription, she charged me more for lenses that should have been less, and overall was a headache to deal with. I had to come back and wait for 3 hours just to have my stuff adjusted and this time I dealt with Lamont, the manager. He was nice enough but he doesn't really seem to care. The day I got a text messages my glasses were ready, they weren't and this said woman once again was unfriendly and inattentive. I had to raise a stink to even get my lenses put in my current glasses at a reasonable speed. So overall, those 3 stars are for Miracle and her alone. read more

My mother and I had appointments at Visionworks today. The office was really busy, but we were still greeted with a smile and assisted promptly. Miss Tiffany handled our screenings and was very friendly and helpful. Dr. Wellons was nice, professional and informative. My mother was purchasing new glasses and Mr. Lamont helped me with finding the right glasses for her and worked up a couple price quotes to help decide the best option. While helping us, he also was making sure customers on the floor were being helped. For a really busy office, the team that worked this morning (8/3/19) was on point and made out process a breeze. read more

Came here for an eye exam with a 5:40pm appointment. Came 15 minutes early to browse frames. Almost all frames I tried had smudges or dirt on them. Waited more then 2 hours for just a regular eye exam. I would avoid this one if I could and go to any other locations for eye exams. read more

When they opened their rating would have been a 4, but over the years the customer service by the front of the office has gone down, down, down. The last two times I went there with my son was so horrible, combined with the absence of the doctor we liked that it was the last straw. There was no one in the store, yet we were ignored by the staff. They completely changed their policy of taking walk ins. We were between 5 -10 minutes late for our appt due to the construction and having to park at the other end of the mall and they refused to see us. Now if the waiting room was full I would understand but it was EMPTY. Actually the whole store was empty. She wouldn't even see us as a walk-in, but scheduled us for over an hour later. Maybe those walk-in welcome signs need to be removed as they "do not do walk-ins" per the staff behind the counter. When selecting glasses, we received no help. When I asked if someone could open a case to see a pair of glasses I was nastily told it was unlocked. After selecting his glasses, we were NEVER asked about lens options, the young man writing the order assumed that we would want everything like the previous pair. Gee, guess they are doing so well they aren't interested in up sells or they added up sell features and hoped by not asking I wouldn't notice. Terrible service all around!! The return to pick up the glasses didn't go much better. We were ignored, others that walked into the store after us were approached for help - hmmm I guess standing next in line at the counter doesn't count anymore. Help the person standing behind that person. I hate to say it, but I felt very discriminated against by the staff. Not the way to treat someone who is trying to spend money in your store! After years of being a Doctor's Visionworks customer, I hate to completely stop going to them so I am trying their Columbia Store to see if this is a company downward trend or an Arundel Mills only downward spiral. I go in to get the right arm of my glasses tightened and this incompetent gal bends them in completely in the middle. Glasses were completely messed up. I have very severe blindness in both of my eyes and picked these glasses because they fit my needs. After I fussed at the gal the manager was able to comprehend that the glasses aren't supposed to be bent in the middle and was able to fix what the gal did. Oh and after the manager fixed my glasses he tightened the right arm and they were still too loose. The manager also put the wrong lenses in the wrong holes. Horrible service. The doctors are great but the ladies sitting in the front that take your measurements and fit you for glasses HORRIBLE! Bad customer service always have attitudes. read more
