Stopped in today for an exam and glasses. Staff was welcoming, professional, and courteous. Doctor was friendly and thorough. An associate picked some glasses I might like based on what I described while I was in my exam. That cut down on the dreaded "choosing" phase which is not my favorite. Made an appt. for 3-20-21 for myself, my wife and two kids for eye exams and for new glasses. We arrived 5 minutes early before the store hours, however, the door was opened so i walked in and was greeted rudely by one of their associate "Karen" yelling "we are not open!" so i told her that we have an appointment at ten, then she said "well then, come back at ten". I am normally a collected person but don't tolerate rude people and made sure to tell her about it her behavior. There are many ways to talk to a person let alone a customer, if you don't have the patient or the correct attitude for customer service, you should not be in that field. So I came back at ten to cancel all four of our appointments and spoke to the manager named Megan, but she was more focused on cancelling my appointment than addressing one of her employee's behavior. I am not looking for an apology, I just want awareness of how one employee can tarnish the name of an organization for acting improperly towards a consumer and of course bringing my business somewhere else. read more

I have been coming to this location for about 8 years and for the most part it has been an easy experience. I bought frames and lenses again last year after getting over the sticker shock of the frames ($199.00). The floor staff was pleasant as was the doctor providing that you have lots of patience. While waiting my turn, I have heard other people complain about the wait time and it seemed to me that they were made to wait longer, people that had walked in after them were helped first. Today I walked in to have my scratched lenses replaced and to have my annual vision exam. The older woman at the desk informed me that she would need to check with the tech to see if they could install the lenses into my frames (which I bought at this location). She came back so quickly that there was no time for the frames to be examined and informed me that they could not re-use my frames. My frames are in great condition so it was obvious to me that they just wanted me to also purchase new frames. Also their receipts (my last one was over 2 feet long) are so confusing that I got the impression that they do that so that you can't verify what you are actually paying for or if extra charges were added. Customer service is not this clerks strong point. Someone should have taught her to treat customers the way that you would hope to be treated. One final note, I went to Walmart's vision center knowing that they do not carry the large lenses that I need and after explaining what I had just experienced, the sales person told me that they could use my frames and told me to come by anytime to get my vision checked. I visited visionworks earlier today at Arundel Mills Mall and came in thinking I was getting one pair and got two which was the best choice I made thanks to Miss Pryncess Loving she was the best and she saved me a lot of money by buying 2 pairs of glasses instead of 1 I saved $200 for buying two not one that's crazy but thanks so much Pryncess your the best!!! The lens of my glasses had fallen out and I knew that I needed to make a trip to the store where I had purchased them to get them fixed. Not happy! Inconvenient! So on a whim I stopped at Visionworks after seeing a movie at the mall and I was wowed by Pryncess Loving, a supervisor there. She was warm and understanding and did not hesitate to repair and clean my glasses. I was so relieved and thankful. I would recommend this store as the whole staff was a reflection of her enthusiasm. And the wide variety of frames made me want to get some new ones! read more

Went in for glasses and was not greeted or assisted for over 20min. Then when I found a pair of specs the young lady working didn't appear knowledgeable about the stores selection or insurance. They did have a relatively large selection but expect to spend $200-400. The deals they advertise are only for the glasses no one wants to wear. Make sure you schedule and appointment or have time to burn. They move very slowly! read more

Again this year went to see the Dr to get an eye exam. Dr. Hien Pham was fabulous. She was easy to talk to, explained my issues and headaches and her thought on Lasik. She was thorough in her exam and did not rush the appointment. She answered all my questions and provided my glasses prescription and contact lens prescription. She was able to provide contact trials as well. I will go here just for Dr April or Dr Pham. The folks working here are no good and inept. Karen took my walk-in and explained their 2 for 49 deal. What she doesn't mention is you pay extra for anti-glare and other fine prints. Once my exam with the Dr was done, she asks for a payment of 84 vs my copay of 10. I knew my benefit details by heart and challenged her immediately. She moved onto another computer and was correctly by Tracy. She reviewed by benefits and let me know I have great coverage. I asked for a quote on a 90 pack total one and Karen quotes me $107. I ask her if Visionworks can match other physical stores, and she says 'no'. Due note that 'MyEyeDr' another store does price matches and the same 90 pack is $70. So clearly I'm saving going somewhere else. Visionworks frames and contact lenses prices are terrible and I would never use my benefits here. Their support staff are LOW energy and will creatively suggest it's a great deal. If you're reading this, research online what the frames should cost my noting the 'model numer' same for contact lenses. read more

I have been coming here since I moved back to Maryland. The doctors are great and are very knowledgeable. However, some of the floor employees have terrible customer service!!!!!! I have worked with customers for years and one thing that you always MUST do is show excellent customer service. Some of the floor employees barely smile or even acknowledge you when you walk into the store. As soon as I walked up to the desk, the representative that was free looked right at me and answered the phone. I didn't receive a, "We will be right with you", "Hello. Give us one second", etc. Absolutely nothing. Then, the representative that finally helped me looked very "irritated", making it seem like she didn't want to deal with customers today. First time I went in for an eye exam they gave my the wrong prescription. I came back for my check up and told the doctor that I've always worn a certain prescription and she said well it must have changed (highly doubt my eyes got better). I bought my glasses and contacts and went home. I started to notice more and more that my vision was blurry and something just wasnt right, I went back for the 3rd time to check my eyes and indeed this doctor said I had the wrong prescription. They fixed my glasses on the spot but had to order my contacts because they didnt have the size in stock. This meant I had to come back for the 4th time now! I came back the 4th time and they ordered the wrong contacts for me! They then told me they would next day air them to me and its now been 3 days and no contacts. I dont think I've ever met a place this unorgainzed, unprofessional and just plain stupid!!! I will never, ever go back to them again. I should have read these reviews before I went there, that was my mistake. read more

I've been waiting for my trial contacts for months and first few months I've called to check the status and they keep telling me it's not here yet. I've repeated have asked if the order was placed? I wish I read the reviews before I went there because I was highly disappointed with their service. I wouldn't recommend anyone going there. My appointment was for noon. was seen at 1:45. There wasn't an issue making the appointment nor was there any issue with the eye doctor. This place DOES NOT keep appointments, doesn't even come close to keeping the appointment, and when you ask them when your going to be seen they keep saying they take walk-ins and are trying to fit in the walkins?! what?! The front desk staff is absolutely HORRIBLE, worst customer service everr!! All of them are unprofessional. There were 5 girls total the day I went. Two were on there phones texting, talking/laughing back and forth with one another. The other two girls were eatting at the front desk and only one girl was assisting the long line of people that kept getting longer because of the apparent laziness and lack of care to help all these customers!! Upon checkout, I was ready to go! i had already been in this place 2 hours thirty minutes. As simple as it sounds to leave, nope still gotta checkout! UHHH the dreaded checkout process. So once you've been seen by the eye doctor, you have to sit AGAIN in the waiting room for them to call you and complete the checkout process!! I waited another 45 min!!! FINALLY the girl who was checking me out slammed the receipt in front of me said 'please sign', I looked at her and she didn't say anything, I was so shocked she didn't acknowledge I was even at the front counter, she didn't ask if I wanted to purchase frames, nothing!! I asked her 'How much total for the lens and frames because I am thinkin' I will come back to purchase them w/ my husband' and she said 'well do you wanna buy just one lens now and one lens later?' I was like....'waaaa why would I do that? I have to have 2 lens for my frames'...She laughed, looked back at one of her co workers, winked and didn't answer!! and I know this sounds terrible, not exaggerated this review, dead SERIOUS... but I even think she burped, because she had been eatting lunch at the front desk right before assisting me!!...like 2 min. later I realized she was trying to make fun of my question and it was very embarrassing!! I was embarrassed because she was like implying that I couldn't afford it or something, that I could only afford ONE LENS?! what?!! Also, after I signed, she looked at her co worker/friend again and said 'what time is it?' and the girl said '2:35' the girl who was checkin me out looked at me and said 'thank God can't wait to get outta here!' So embarrassed by her comments and in the need of this prescription I felt belittled and took my paper and left promptly without any reply to her negative, degrading comments. . . I immediately contacted my husband and was crying because I know other people and staff heard her make those comments towards me..I feel like a victim to discrimination because she was judging me based solely on looks, I had just gotten back from the gym (no makeup,gym clothes) and for her to ask me that in that way was very unprofessional. I will never buy frames or fill my prescription here!! I will go to LENSCRAFTERS the most expensive place I can think of, because I know I'll be guaranteed quality, helpful customer service and they have exceptional reviews by thousands!!! It's just terrible to receive customer service such as this because this place is very nice, clean and has an okay selection, it has the potential to be a wonderful eye facility and could do very well being that is located right in the food court on the MALL, however the horrible customer service and absolute BAD MANAGEMENT is gonna take this place down!! Do not go here everrrrr if you want to be seen on time for an appointment or if you expect to be treated like a human being!! read more

Rude. Terrible customer service at the front desk. I would have given 1 star, however the Optomotrist did a decent job. After getting my eye exam I waited and waited for checkout, and like other reviewers said, was ignored by front desk staff. I simply left as I had other obligations. I just called back so I could pay my bill, and was rudely interupted by the person on the other end saying "excuse me, can you call back when we are open!?" I asked when they open - she said 10:00. It was 9:58! Really, make me call back 2 minutes later? SMH read more

Honestly, I wasn't looking forward to coming here because of all the poor reviews it has been getting on here-but since I was desperate for an exam and I'm the queen of procastinating..so I was stuck with it. I initially arrived around 2ish on Saturday, in which I was greeted by a nice lady instantly and informed that they were booked solid and couldn't accept me as a walk in (they take appointments-I def suggest doing that haha). She suggested that I come in when they open the following day (Sunday), and that would be my best bet for a walk-in eye exam. I did just that and was told I would eventually be seen by the doctor, but they are completely booked with appointments and don't know how long my wait would be. They stressed to me that they don't know how long it would take for me to be seen, which I understood coming in without an appointment. Everyone was friendly and polite-from the ladies at the desk, the lady who did the pretesting, and the doctor especially. I was eventually seen after waiting for about 5 hours (haha yes...5 hours...good thing there's a mall to walk around and a food court for lunch), but again-I can't be upset because I was warned that the wait time could be long. The doctor thanked me for my patience, and I received great care. I will be coming back!! read more

This place is convenient, takes my insurance and I'm usually in and out with ease. I LOVE Dr. Wellons! She not only educates me about eye care but is also very attentive of my needs, questions, concerns etc. I never feel rushed with her and she always tries to give me trials of new contact lenses that may benefit my lifestyle, if they are in my RX. I think it's a great place for what it is, an Optometrist in a busy mall with walk-ins all the time. If you want the experience of a private practice, go to a private practice. I cannot stress enough how great Dr. Wellons is, I live in Annapolis with a Vision Works a mile from my office but I go to Arundel Mills because of her. read more

I felt it was important to share my review since I almost overlooked this place because of all of the negative things said. My appointment was last minute but very much needed and the location was convenient so I gave them a try. Scheduling was a breeze--I was seen within a day of calling. The front desk was friendly and helpful. I was seen in a timely manner (but then again I also arrived 15mins before my appt time as requested) and the doctor listened and took the time to answer my questions. I was seen here in 2014 for a contact and eye glasses exam. I had to wait past my appointment time and the exam rooms were very dirty and dingy. The doctor was nice and helpful and the exam experience was okay. I'm leaving this review today because I am a military spouse who had to move overseas. I called to request my prescription for my new doctor and the two different employees I spoke to on the phone were extremely rude. I explained to them that I live in ITALY and cannot come to pick up it up in person and that the Naval hospital here does not have a fax. They refused to discuss any other options or allow me to speak to someone more senior. I would definitely not recommend this location as their staff are not only unwilling to help but are also very rude and unkind. I'm not upset that they couldn't help but I am upset that they spoke to me sharply and very rudely. read more

what the hell is this, the MVA?!? the similarities are striking; impersonal, rude, unaccomodating, and confrontational. wait, the MVA is more organized. you take a number and you know the stay is atleast 3 hrs long. but visionworld, god knows when someone will even look you in the eye. now i know why places like basspro, walmart, etc... pay people whose only job is to say welcome to their store. they ensure that somebody will say something cordial to you, (albeit perfunctory, it's better than nothing). we called visionworld to make an appointment for 2 grade school children. surprisingly, the guy on the phone said to come that day (saturday!). he said the walk-in doctor is on lunch break from 1-3pm, so come in around 2:30 and put our name on the list. great! we thought we would have to take care of this during the week, but lets knock it out now. we get there in record time, filling out forms and putting our name on the list at 2:20. we stroll around and look at frames for a freaking hour. at 3:30, the young gentleman, lets call him 'tom', regrets to inform us that the doctor has an emergency and has left the building. he apologizes and asks if we can come back the next day at 11:30am. what a difference a day makes. tom was not there. luckily, there was a coworker, lets call him vijay, who remembered us from the day before, and was kind enough to say he would call our cell when the doctor is available. he said to expect a call around 1:30 to 2pm. okay, so we'll go walk around the mall and comeback. we went back at 1:30 for a more definitive waiting estimate. vijay is busy with customers as we wait at the counter. we wait at the counter for 15 minutes as 4 different staff members, (lets call them shynakwa, keshelana, marlanwa, and the doctor sheba), walk past us without any eye contact. at some point, i would have appreciated the gesture of an index finger that says, ' i know you exist on the other side of the counter, and i will eventually be with you.' after a cleared throat, shynakwa approached with her eyes on a pen and mumbles, 'can i help you?' 'yes, i just wanted to check on the status of the 1:30 walk-in. will it be before 2?', i asked. 'no way! not before 2!', a voice from my right asserts. sheba, i'm guessin is a just graduated young doctor wearing a white robe, goes on,'why did you people leave? you should've waited! there's way too many people ahead of you. i'm just anwering your question, no way you'll be seen before 2!', as she kept her eyes on a clipboard the whole time. yeah, i couldve explained everything that had happened since the day before. but when i looked at her, and noticed the pen she was holding, this doctor (?) had 2 inch nails that started to curl. her eyes were bulging as she spoke loudly, and she wore a glitter type of makeup all over her face. there's no way, 2 grade school children were goin to be this 'professional's' subject. a complete waste of a weekend, and we were insulted! read more

Unfortunately here I am again at another location complaining. I had the worst experience at the Gambrills location about a yr and a half ago so figured I'd go back to Hanover for another go. Well I learned my lesson stay far away from all Visionworks. I called to schedule an appointment over the weekend, they told me if I was there by 2 I could be seen as a walk in. I proceed to drag my 3 children, one a newborn another a toddler to the location. When I arrived at 1:45 they hemmed and hawed about seeing me but went back to the dr who said shed fit me in...fast fwd an hr later, I was told it would be another hr at least till I could be seen, why they couldn't have told me they were booked over the phone OR when I got there is beyond me but obviously with little ones I surely was not waiting another hour. I made an appointment for this evening. I arrive at the store and was told the girl scheduled me for next week not today and they again went to ask the dr if they could take me and I was told yes but it would essentially be the waiting game again. I'm done, over this place it SUCKS and they just lost 5 customers from my immediately family and I will be sure to pass along the awfulness of scheduling with everyone else. I warn you. Stay away from Visionworks period, not to find a new eye doctor. My poor daughter just wants to see again but Visionworks has been anything BUT helpful. read more

Update: More good customer service, my son got lenses in his old frames at the Waugh Chapel location in Dec. 2015, in March 2016 we returned to Visionworks at Arundel Mills and they replaced his nose pads w/out any hassle, very friendly... Old review: I had a horrible experience at the Visionworks in Waugh Chapel w/a female staff member when I tried to purchase my distance glasses there, so I thought I'd try the Visionworks at Arundel Mills Mall, Hanover, MD, location, and I'm glad I did. Liza was very professional and nice, asked me about my hobbies and interests to make sure the frames fit my lifestyle and helped me choose the right frames, she helped me find the lowest price possible for quality frames and lenses (not plastic lenses) through one of several of their promotions... I've never gone through the experience of getting glasses before, it's expensive, and it's shockingly expensive if you've never gotten glasses before, so it meant a lot to me that Liza was so incredibly helpful. Very courteous and professional. It takes approx. a week for a person's glasses to come in, I'll update the review if necessary. read more
