BEWARE! I made my appointment in July online and the first available was not until 10/17/25. I provided them with my eye insurance when I made the appointment. Mid September, on a Friday evening (after closing time), I received a text requesting a copy of the insurance card and my appointment would be cancelled if I failed to respond in 72 hours. I called Monday to explain I already provided proof of insurance and they told me, "they needed my sencondary insurance", which I provided. My appointment was confirmed again. On the 17th I arrived 1/2 hour early to be told that in fact my appointment was cancelled and it was their fault, but I would need to reschedule and take another day off from work. If I need to wait 4 months and miss two days of work, I can afford to take my business elsewhere. read more

I was late coz I was helping a patient who came late to my clinic. Now if you can't control traffic and be little late they will charge you AND cancel the appt. I work in a clinical setting and see pts all the time who arrive late for unavoidable situation. Never coming back here!!! Staff is so standoffish and kept saying it's policy. They won't even listen to you. Worst experience ever. Even if they have to charge extra they can at least see the person who waited for months to be seen. read more

As a long time patient, I have been disappointed with their service and pricing since they moved to Normandy Shopping plaza. They need better customer service and their selection is overpriced. I had a great experience here this past December. All of the staff at PV are friendly and helpful. All of my questions were answered in a friendly way. I have been extra cautious going out in public as I am pregnant. Some businesses are not taking social distancing protocols seriously. Thankfully, the opposite is true at PV. Social distancing/COVID safety protocols take place before you walk in the door. I felt very safe during my exam and while shopping for glasses! Thank you PV! read more

Unfortunately this is no longer the practice it once was. After a week of the office asking me to move my appointment to accommodate their schedule I was able to rearrange mine to make it work. After arriving a few minutes late I was told I would need to reschedule (after taking time off of work so that I could meet their scheduling needs). The staff was rude and unaccommodating. I have decided to go to another practice along with 4 members of my family who were also patients here after this experience. I've been to a couple different vision places due to the fact that I'm getting older and of course my vision is changing. I've had my ups a d downs--mostly downs--at vision places, but Professional Vision is exactly as the name says; PROFESSIONAL Vision. I've had nothing but an amazing and great experience there, and as long as I'm living in Maryland , I'll continue to be a repeat customer. Two stars because during the exam everything was great, staff professional and courteous. At the end we were picking out glasses. My son was making small talk and mentioned he had just gotten over COVID and it was like a switch flipped. The staff became standoffish. He had isolated and quarantined at home per CDC guidelines. His quarantine period was over, he was masked, he is vaccinated, his symptoms have resolved. I pointed this out and was asked to leave and come back in a few days to get out glasses. Don't worry, we won't be back. read more

This is my second visit here and my second less than great experience. I picked up contacts for a friend and I was charged for them putting the contacts through his insurance. Its been a few weeks and we were both free to go back and process a refund. The woman says that tbey cant do refunds on Saturdays...what? Then she says they dont automatically put things on insurance and you have to request it. Shouldnt insurance be the default option? Or at least ask first. You cant expect everyone to come into your establishment and know your policies. A simple question like "Are these covered by insurance or you paying out of pocket" would of been proactive. Let me also mention that the women behind the counter was not pleasant. Never smiled once, no apologies for the inconvienence, no have a nice day...NOTHING! Doesnt matter how long youve been an employee at a place, its doesnt give you the right to get complacent. If i ever have come back to grab another prescription I will definitely be ready for another less than great experience. I did get my refund in the end. read more

Terrible customer service! From my first interaction on the phone, until leaving with my glasses, I was meant to feel like an extension of my insurance company's check book. They figure out what they can charge insurance for, then try to sell you on those services, then have the gall to upsell you on additional services that you have to pay for out of pocket! read more

I made my appointment a couple of weeks ago and no one mentioned that they'd moved. Imagine my surprise when I happened to walk by and the place was totally empty. No new address on the door. I had to call to find out where they'd moved to. You might want to change the address on your website. Other than that, I have no complaints. See you soon. read more

I had great experience last year. I got my glasses and they provided great service. So I decided to switch my kids prescription to this place. For my surprise it was totally changed place. Their working hours shows they are open till 5pm. I arrived at 4:30 pm. To start with person who checked in stares at watch as she checked in and gives a look at us. Then the person who worked on our prescription she did her best to complete the selection by 5. But the whole visit was not welcoming. They treated as if we are invading their privacy. I really don't understand if office hours listed open till 5 pm and I walked in at 4:30 if that's not acceptable they should mention last customer walk in time on website or recommend to take an appointment. Even my 10 year old felt that they are not welcoming and he asked me simple question why we switched from old place. I was not able to answer that question. read more

Horrible customer service. Called in advance to tell them I was running 10 min behind and the receptionist told me it was fine and I could still have my appointment. After I'd spent an hour in traffic to get there, they tell me ON ARRIVAL that they had to reschedule me. Soonest appointment was a month later. Will not return. Would not recommend. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Gallagher's for nearly 20 years. I moved 40 or so miles away several years ago and visited with a couple optometrists since then. I've recently committed to making the trips back to EC to see Dr. Gallagher for my appointments. She always gets prescriptions spot on, remembers nearly everything about her patients, and is ready and willing to talk through all issues and help out how she can. Great staff here too. I recently moved to Ellicott City, and needed an eye exam. I went on Yelp to find a place with good reviews that would also take my insurance. At first I was suspicious that this place had 5 solid stars... I decided to try it out, and I'm very satisfied with the outcome. I waited to write my review until I had gone back for a follow up post eye exam. It is easy to make an appointment, the staff is very efficient and friendly, and Dr Schultz was very nice and courteous. I love that they are not pushy about trying to sell you frames or contacts. I recently went in as a new patient. From the moment I walked in the staff was very professional and very helpful. I had an appointment at 11:00 am and it wasn't long before we got started. The doctor was very informative and took her time to understand my issue and concern. Once I was done with the appointment I spoke with an associate to order my new glasses. Dr Hendin gives the best eye exam I have ever had. His bedside manner is excellent and his exam is extensive.

Though I moved and this practice is now a 25-30 minute drive in traffic for me, I still patronize Professional Vision. That's because the service I've been given by Dr. Gallagher and company has been top-notch. Dr. Gallagher always has a pleasant demeanor during my exams but more importantly she is very knowledgeable. I trust her feedback. I leave visits feeling that she was looking out for me and not constantly trying to sell me on expensive lenses or frames like some other optometrists might. I believe the crew at this office does keep up with the latest examination technology though so I'm confident that if anything is going downhill with my eyes they'll discover it early in the process. read more

My husband has been wearing glasses for over 20 years. When he had his prescription made here the glasses were terrible. We went back almost immediately and they just kept saying that it was correct. After a couple visits we just decided to not waste our time anymore because they would not listen. About 9 months later my husband was laying in bed and for some reason held his glasses up backwards and low and behold everything was perfectly clear. It appears that they had flipped the prescription. We went back to let them know and again they just said it was correct and that his prescription must have changed. That would be a plausible explanation if the glasses had not been incorrect after day 1 his old glasses still work perfectly well. These guys overcharged us and then refused to make it right. I cannot say how unprofessional my experience has been. read more

My prescription is very tricky and the frames I selected did not work for me. Dr. Gallagher and Caroline were extremely patient and together their expertise got me through it. My family has been a customer at Professional Vision for many years, it's always my first to go place when I need eye exam and new glasses. I just had my eye exam done there again a couple of days ago. I went back the second day thinking to pick a frame and find out the out-of-pocket expense with my vision plan. I handed my insurance card to the staff who greeted me. She could not retrieve the plan information from her computer and said the information I provided was not valid. I told her I was just there the day before for my eye exam with the exact same insurance. She was not happy and looked agitated when I questioned about it, and said something could have changed since then. She even impatiently turned the computer trying to show me. I realized it'd be waste of time trying to argue so just walked out. A short while later after I got home, I saw a missed call and a text message from Professional Vision saying that she was able to find my insurance after I left and asked me to go back. The service I received from this staff member was anything but professional and I doubt I will return for my glasses. I will go back for eye exams as Dr. Susan Schultz is very kind and friendly, hence this 2 star rating. read more

I have been purchasing glasses from Professional Vision for a few years now. I was previously very loyal to the shop associated with my optometrist but I find the frame selection much better at Professional Vision. Additionally, I find the staff super adept at looking at me and suggesting frames that are flattering. I don't typically write reviews but my recent experiences at Professional Vision have far exceeded my expectations and I just need to share. In November, I dropped my glasses in a crowded theater and they were stepped on. The side was completely severed. I took them to Professional Vision hoping they might be able to solder them back together. To my surprise, they advised me that they were under warranty for a year and they would replace them. I was thrilled because the accident was completely my fault and it wasn't as though I had purchased an extended warranty. Both the frame and glasses were replaced at a cost of $25. Fast forward to early this week when my puppy took the glasses off of my coffee table and chewed them. The frame has some minor damage and one lens has a significant chip and is out of the frame. I took them to Professional Vision today hoping they would simply put the lens back in the glasses but NO, they are once again replacing the frame and lenses for $25! I told the associate Erin that I was actually horrified to be taking advantage of their policy because this was entirely my fault. Erin reassured me that it was not a problem. We chatted about some of my previous purchases and Erin advised me that she would be going to a frame show and would have lots of new inventory in another month. I can't wait to go back and give Professional Vision more business. I have never received more compliments on my frames and I have never received such amazing service.
