I stopped in before shopping to see if I could get an appointment and was able to see Dr. Jan right away! Dr. Jan was friendly and professional the whole time and addressed all of my concerns about my vision. In the end he told me I was in between my current prescription and the next so I could go either way but since I've been noticing that my vision had worsened I could move to the next prescription. This was a great first visit and I will definitely be back even though this location is a bit of a hike for me. Highly recommend Dr. Jan!

Unfortunately, the care and professionalism I received matched the physical pain I was in. Upon entering, the staff was unapproachable and cold, and Dr. Jan addressed me only by name to give staff directions in front of me while entirely skipping a basic greeting. Before my exam, which included a painful laser photo that left me needing a moment to recover. I explicitly verified my insurance coverage again. Despite having called ahead to confirm insurance, receiving two text reminders, and having the appointment confirmed day-of, the receptionist shouted across a crowded, very small waiting room immediately after my procedure: "You can't see the doctor without paying out of pocket. We don't take "Name of insurance!" She literally yelled outloud the name of my medical insurance carrier. When I reasonably asked why my appointment and insurance had been repeatedly confirmed beforehand, the receptionist simply shrugged her shoulders coldly and demanded I leave, while Dr. Jan closed her office door to avoid the situation steps away from me. To be subjected to public humiliation while in acute physical pain, with zero empathy, compassion, or accountability from the staff or the physician is completely unacceptable. I left in pain and deeply disappointed by this establishment. Avoid this office inside of Costco if you expect basic respect and competent administrative communication.

The staff is not very competent, and more importantly lazy. They failed to find the VSP coverage that was active, and when they couldn't they kicked the responsibility to the patient and make the patient do their jobs. Rx check, which is the responsibility of the OD, is pawned off to the tech who does not have the clinical scope to do anything about the errors in Rx. This is done to reduce doctor's chair time, and it does not serve the patients well. I don't even know if these techs are licensed. Knowing what I know, I questioned their practices. When I did, I was met with super passive-aggressiveness and they tried to charge me for the Rx check that was covered under the VSP. VSP can help to accommodate many varying situations (like a pandemic), but this office was not even willing to try. I have spent many hours talking to VSP. They have NO intentions of doing so for their patients. This office will take advantage of you if you don't know what your rights are. If you do, then they try to weed you out by making your life difficult. This is not how you advocate for patients, and not how you run a clinic. However, it maybe a shrewd business tactic. You as a consumer and a patient, have the option of what you choose to accept as a standard of care.

When she provided me with an updated prescription for my glasses and I asked her for my pupillary distance measurement because I order lots of glasses online and that is required. She told me she couldn't give it to me?? I was unsure why as it is needed to order any pair of glasses. It felt like the problem was I wasn't ordering her IMO over priced frames so instead of saying that, she said she didn't have it. Well how about get it? I have had multiple providers give me that information whether I was ordering glasses from them or not. If I had been ordering glasses with her that day how would that have happened without my PD and where would she get it from? I cannot support dishonesty.

The exam was thorough...a lot more so than I anticipated but I appreciated it. Nice frames to choose from and about a week for the glasses to come in. More expensive than I anticipated but I didn't have a good reference to work from. Even still, based off the experience, I'll be back.
