I recently had an appointment with Dr. Strong at First Sight Vision Care as a new patient and I was throughly impressed. Located off of Route 29, I had no problems finding it or parking. The staff was very cordial and promptly took me to the initial exam room where they examined my eyes with modern technology and an explanation of everything that was being done. Dr. Strong is highly detail oriented with a friendly demeanor. She listened to my description of what I have been noticing with my glasses over the last year and got me dialed into a new prescription. She and the frames specialist gave me some good advice on how to compare the frames with fit and fashion equally considered. I found this very helpful in navigating their wide variety of frames. I saw Dr. Strong for an annual check-up. She said my eyes were "misaligned". Dr. Strong hadn't mentioned my eyes being "misaligned" during last year's exam (no prior eye drs had ever said that either) so I assumed it was in relation to my need for bifocals or progressives, which we discussed for the first time this year. She said I'd benefit from a special type of lens called Neurolens but it was not covered by insurance and costs about $1000! After the appointment, I wanted to learn more about the lens, as anyone would before they consider spending that much money on something. I became concerned when I saw "misalignment" means strabismus which is being cross-eyed. At this point my curiosity about a lens turned to worrying about what was going on with my eyes so I scheduled an appointment with a strabismus specialist. I went to the appointment prepared with a list of questions like what's causing my eyes to cross, is there anything that can be done to keep it from progressing, etc. The doctor examined my eyes and found no misalignment or other issues that would justify the use of Neurolens. This experience has been very frustrating. I can't help but feel this was a sales pitch to sell Neurolens. read more

Dr. Strong is a really fantastic eye doctor. She is extremely thorough, and she took the time to diagnose and come up with a distance prescription to address my problems with double vision. I can finally see again! She explained my condition and how we were going to treat it. I had a follow-up appointment after six months, which was very helpful. She determined one of my eyes was improving, and she worked out another prescription for computer glasses, since my eyesight had changed due to the first corrective prescription. I'm very grateful to have found a doctor so talented, conscientious, and caring who will work with me to get the right prescriptions to address my issues. Dr. Chang was great, but I will not be going back. I was happy to consider buying my glasses here, but they didn't have a single pair that would be fully covered by my plan. (I should add that my plan provides free glasses from a particular brand, or $135 off any frame) Even with all of that they couldn't help me. Fine, these things happen. I figured I would just get my glasses elsewhere. I also wanted to get prescription sunglasses online. The doctor said this was a great idea since I would only be wearing them here and there, and buying them online would allow me to not worry about loosing or breaking them when outside. I asked to have my PD measured (takes about 45 seconds) and was told that it would require a $35 fee. I get that they don't want to loose my business to a website, but fine, charge $5, or do it for free to earn repeat business. Long story short, I will not be going back. Also, I work in the building and I will be letting all my colleges know that this place is not worth the convenience. Sorry Dr. Chang, you were great, but I didn't appreciate the hard sell from your retail staff. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. Got me to sign up for a separate dry eye visit. It was a disaster. The lipiflow that was done caused really bad reactions. The entire procedure was out of pocket. Never going back again. read more

I have seen Dr. Strong for a few years now and cannot say enough good things about her. The front desk staff is also helpful. It is the management that has lead me and my family to leave this practice. I always have to wait 30 minutes or more, no matter the time of my appointment. The techs aren't friendly at all. I constantly have a co-pay or balance due despite being in network for my insurance and assured by my insurance that I should not have a co-pay for my visits. The billing department sent my 20 co-pay to collections, adding 55 dollars to my bill. My insurance told me not to pay the co-pay until they completed a investigation. When asked to remove the collection charge, the owner said no, and lost 5 patients. read more

The professionalism and knowledge of Dr Chang = 5 stars. The very friendly, but ineffective office staff = 1 star. Overall average = 3 stars. The office staff is very friendly, but this is what I experienced from them in just one visit (I have their names but won't include them here): - Called beforehand to verify that they accept my insurance, as recommended in other reviews. Office staff says "Yes, we accept your insurance." - Arrive at appointment. Office staff is clearly calling to verify my insurance while I'm waiting. Go in to my appointment and come out. - Office staff says "No, we don't accept your insurance, you owe the full amount." ...What?! If there was a question when I called to check it, you should have told me then. When you were calling to check (again? for the first time?) while I was in the waiting room, you should have told me then. I left without paying, intending to follow up. - Get home. Office staff calls back and says, "Yes, we accept your insurance" (how confusing can this be?) and tells me they'll send the bill for my co-pay. - I receive said bill, write a check and mail it. - Today I received another bill, with an additional "Late Fee" added. I called to say the bill has been paid. - Office staff says "No, the bill was not paid." I say "Yes, the bill has definitely been paid." I pull up my checking account statement, give the check # and date. Office staff still says bill has not been paid. They search while I stay on hold. As I was saying I had the statement in hand and could provide it, another office person gets on the line, apologizes and says, "Yes, it appears your bill has been paid. I don't know why we wouldn't have a record of it." - They actually had to check with their bank to find that my check had been deposited. Wow. I get that people occasionally make mistakes, but based on the other reviews I saw, this seems to be standard operating procedure for this staff. I won't be back. read more

I just had my 2d appointment with Dr. Strong - I don't think I've ever had a more thorough (and informative) eye exam. She was on time, answered all my questions in a clear manner, and is super nice to boot! The office staff is friendly, the space is pretty and welcoming. If your visit requires the assistance of an optician, do yourself a favor and ask for Kris - she was very knowledgeable and a joy to work with. They have a lot of frames to choose from and prices are not any higher than they'd be anywhere else, which is why the quality of service provided was what made the difference. I've never worn glasses, but the vision in my right eye has steadily been deteriorating. "First Sight" are convenient and listed in the directory of my vision care provider (and have my provider listed on their website), so why not schedule an eye exam with an optometrist (namely Natalie Sukontasup)? Here's why not: After scheduling and arriving for my appointment (15 min early), I discover that - despite the fact that they accept my vision plan - my health insurance won't cover the exam. So, they want $169 cash for an eye exam. "Does that work?" Nope. Roughly a day's wages is exorbitant for a 10-15 minute vision screening. I'll just go to Costco or somewhere else. Suggestions welcomed. read more

Dr. Sukon and Strong were nice doctors but this one staff, she's never in scrubs when I visit, is just a bad experience for me. Two visits and each one was just as annoying as the other. A 45 minute visit turned into a 3 hour one! The other staff could see my frustration but nobody stepped in to assist. I'll give it one more shot but I'm already looking around for a new place for my family's vision care. read more

Purchased glasses and didn't pay for insurance because I've worn glasses for 10 years and never broken them or lost them. One month later the lenses have stress cracks in the corners. I brought them back and was told there was nothing they can do since I didn't purchase insurance and it looks like I dropped them. Shouldn't a practice offer a minimum warranty on their products? The staff were very friendly and they explained the entire process before we started. Afterwards, I got to pick out frames. The entire staff at FSVC is very professional. They actually care about their patients and treat you as such. Unlike other places where the feeling is "retail" FSVC is legit Dr to patient experience. Before I found out about this place, I would look for holiday specials at the mall or online. Find the cheapest eye exam and purchase an okay pair of glasses. My experience at those places, even after I got the holiday special price, felt unfulfilled. So, a couple of things. This place carries frames that actually fit an Asian face so I made the journey from Tysons to Fulton, and I am so glad I did. Secondly, I had resurrect my Yelp account just so I could go online and talk about my experience. We had to use our flexible spending by the end of the year and we had a pair of frames made in the mall in Tysons. We wanted our next pair of glasses to be "perfect" so we went to First Sight in early January and we couldn't believe the difference. Working with Linda and David was a breath of fresh air. Linda was able to help my wife and I find the right pair of glasses for our hard to fit faces and was so knowledgeable and friendly. Complementing her was David, who has been in the lens crafting business for several years that worked with us to get the perfect cut lenses even though our optometrist in Tysons got the original prescription completely wrong. Totally recommend. Staff is so friendly, sharp, and helpful. Needed new optometrist & prescription desperately, had 45 min window, so called on a whim to see if they'd take a walk-in. Sophia at the front desk was unbelievable!!! Said come on down, got me seen right away, helped speed up the paperwork, scheduled dilation for a week later...so nice when she totally didn't have to be. Dr. Sukontasup clearly leads by example. Although they let Vince get away they provided a more than sufficient replacement in Linda K. Linda provides me with excellent style assistance and it has become difficult to pick a pair of glasses without her input. She provides excellent customer service and goes above and beyond to research and resolve any issues I may have had (I an a pretty demanding customer). I Love, Love, Love this place!!! I had a wonderful initial experience from the receptionist, optometrist and fitting technician when I purchased my glasses 9 months ago. The prescription was perfect and I've had a lot of issues in the past with other providers. Last week, I contacted them because my lenses were scratched. I was prepared for a fight, but I spoke with Linda was told that my scratch resistant lenses were protected for the first year. So no charge!!!! They ordered the replacement lenses over the phone and let me know in less than an week that the new lenses were in. I went to pick up my new lenses and I met Linda. OMG! what a dynamic and energetic personality!!! My lenses were replaced in about 2 minutes, but she noticed that I was admiring some new frames and we spent the next 30 minutes trying on various "Celine" frames (& a few others) and taking pictures so I could remember which frames I liked best. Linda is knowledgeable, personable and a wonderful person to have in your midst. I felt like I've known her for years. Everyone is great.
