Dr. Tran is one of the nicest and most able medical professional I have ever encountered. With an office located in the Arundle Mill Costco, each visit is a breeze from a logistical standpoint. Her assistant is wonderful as well and really makes setting up an appointment very easy. I am not sure if the office takes insurance for regular eye exams (standard glasses and/or contact lenses) but the price is reasonable at $100 for my son's contact lens exam. Dr. Tran uses some of the latest equipment to conduct the exam. It looks like some futuristic Jetson's type stuff but it is very effective. However, what sets her apart from other Optometrists is that she always pulls out the the tried and true tools of the profession to check everything out. We never feel rushed with her and she listens to all of our concerns. Just a wonderful experience ensuring my son's vision is correct. She allays any nervousness or anxiety, especially in younger patients. Highly recommend Dr. Tran and her office. Five highly visible stars!!!

Rather than tell me before I arrived or even after I arrived, I was told after waiting to be seen by the Dr that they didn't take my insurance. I could have been notified before I took an hour off work and driving time that my insurance wasn't accepted. I asked why my paperwork wasn't reviewed when received and was told that they do review it. I don't have any time off to waste like this and finally got upset enough to write this review. They should have reviewed my paperwork before I arrived so I could cancel the appointment. It did seem, based on statements made, that I could pay 100% out of pocket. Why in the world would I do this if I have good vision insurance? Just be honest and let me know as soon as possible that they don't take my insurance.

The services and a year of contacts was $600. I went back the next year to get glasses. The doctor is very nice and very good. I told him about my contacts and he told me to let him check them. Twice, we raised the prescription. Then, we got the right fit and I had to pay for the exam and the contacts again. I was given a discount and I appreciate that however, I felt that I should have gotten my money back for the unopened boxes of contacts that I could not use. The answer was no. I had no use for them so I gave them back to the doctor for his use. No money for them. Just a thank you. Of course! Free contacts! So, I would say this... the doctor made an error and he did not refund me for that error. Then, when I ordered another box of the corrected prescription, I was given a discount. Unfortunately, the contacts came back WRONG again. The office ordered the same incorrect contacts that I already had. So I gave them back and they got me the right ones. All in all, there were mistakes that I consider relevant to my rating- could have been better. I would not recommend this outfit although the doctor has all the best machines and is very knowledgeable. If he makes a mistake, he will not give you your money back. But even more unreasonable than that, the women that I spoke to about the problem and appealed to them to compensate me somehow- were truly not interested in helping me out. The expense of the glasses was $600.00. The contacts totaled $750.00. Truly too expensive if they are not going to care about their mistakes.

This was especially meaningful to me because I had my 18 month old with me, and everyone was very attentive and understanding about my little one. My wait time my short, my exam was quick, but incredibly insightful. I honestly felt like the doctor understood my eyes and my vision more after 10 minutes than my previous doctor had after 10 years. I then had the opportunity to pick out a new set of glasses frames, and after seeing the style I gravitated toward, the associate picket out the perfect frames for me. She simply nailed it on the first try. After just a few minutes, my new lenses were ordered and I was on my way. I am looking forward to my new glasses, and I highly recommend this team. The staff is not very competent, and more importantly lazy. They failed to find the VSP coverage that was active, and when they couldn't they kicked the responsibility to the patient and make the patient do their jobs. Rx check, which is the responsibility of the OD, is pawned off to the tech who does not have the clinical scope to do anything about the errors in Rx. This is done to reduce doctor's chair time, and it does not serve the patients well. I don't even know if these techs are licensed. Knowing what I know, I questioned their practices. When I did, I was met with super passive-aggressiveness and they tried to charge me for the Rx check that was covered under the VSP. VSP can help to accommodate many varying situations (like a pandemic), but this office was not even willing to try. I have spent many hours talking to VSP. They have NO intentions of doing so for their patients. This office will take advantage of you if you don't know what your rights are. If you do, then they try to weed you out by making your life difficult. This is not how you advocate for patients, and not how you run a clinic. However, it maybe a shrewd business tactic. You as a consumer and a patient, have the option of what you choose to accept as a standard of care.

Because I have an autoimmune disorder and the optometrist wanted to "know I followed up." I have a PCP, I have a specialist, I have my own health under control. If she didn't see any issues with my eyes and I had no complaints, charging me for a service and then not providing the prescription is theft. I called in later to see what information they needed from my doctor for the prescription and I was told they actually WILL give it to me.....over fax. Still hasn't been faxed. I'm very confused as to why I entered a chain optometrist and still have not received what I paid for and then dealt with bad service through and through. This wasn't inexpensive, was completely out of pocket and I still need new contacts. Waste of time and money. Do not go here. Edit: So after calling them dozens of times, emailing Walmart Corporate, sending a medical release, calling them again, calling Walmart Contacts, calling Walmart.com and speaking to the optometrist herself, they sent........my eyeglasses prescription. The office manager very sarcasticly said, "you still can." So I said "cancel my appointment," and walked out. By the way, while I sat waiting to be seen for that 15 minutes, I found it very unprofessional for staff to be discussing another patient, which is what I heard. I decided to come take a look and to my surprise it is very cost-effective compared to the optometrist's office. I came on a Friday evening and surprisingly it was sparse. Baby Jane was very warm and personable. She was very patient and answered all my questions, which I had quite a handful. My optometrist prescribed me with occupational progressive lens. Baby Jane explained the type of lenses that Costco provides and gave me a breakdown of the pricing. I also needed a second pair of glasses for nighttime driving. She informed me that there was a promotion that if I purchased two pairs, I could get $50 off. She helped me find pairs that were suitable for my slender face. I learned that each pair of eyewear has the size on it. That was something new and will be helpful to know when I make purchases in the future. Despite the bad reviews that I read online, I was very pleased with the prompt and friendly service that I received today. I will definitely be making purchases here in the future assuming that I am happy with my new progressive glasses.
