Call for dishwasher repair. Technician arrived (at 9:30 am on Friday), diagnosed a broken water pump and said I would be better off buying a new one. Told me they could install it for $175 (with new hose and take away old one). Told me sales would call me to get which machine I wanted. Said they would call me later that day from sales. When I noticed that they didn't call me, I tried to call them at 3:50. Answering machine said their hours were 8:30-3 M-F. over the weekend I thought about ordering from Lowes (same make/model/price) but they were charging $275 for install and thought I would give my $ to the small business. On Monday at 1:30 pm when I still hadn't heard from them, I called and got the receptionist who explained that she would have to "get with the repair person" and that they were closing at 3pm and so she would need to get back with me on Tuesday. When I asked if we could move this faster as I am a single mom with 4 kids and really need my dishwasher, she said " Well, this is a luxury item and I have 2 kids and don't have a dishwasher right now." Worst customer service experience I've ever had. I bought a refrigerator in December, only to find out later it didn't work. I contacted the warranty service, and they sent out a technician from Virginia Electronics. At first, they said the issue was covered under warranty -- the tech even cut our fridge's water line and said they'd be back once the part arrived. Then out of nowhere, I get a call saying it's not covered and that I'd need to pay $400 to fix it -- for a fridge that cost $800 total. I pushed back and got on a three-way call with Virginia Electronics and the manufacturer, who confirmed that yes, the repair is covered under warranty. And what did Virginia Electronics do? They told us to find another company and hung up the call. This company is an absolute joke. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Scheduled to repair 9/15/25 from 1-6...he got a flat tire. My refrigerator was under a New Leaf Warranty and when it failed to get below 50 degrees, they sent VA Electronics. They couldn't come for five days. On day of work, Tech was supposed to arrive between 8am - 12 noon. Arrived at 11:45 and after 15 minutes told me had to go buy a new Steam machine because his was working. He said Northern Equipment was only 3 miles away. He didn't return for 4 hours! I watched him the entire time. He melted away the ice caked n the evaporator and without attaching any testers, voltmeters announce that it needed a complete new sealed unit. He explained that included a new evaporator, condenser and compressor. He then crawled into the fridge and said e thinks he can hear Freon leaking. He told me to call him the next day just in case the fridge started to work after defrosting the evaporator. After 24 hrs, I call his cell phone and told him that it is still at 45-50 degrees he said he would order the parts and they should arrive in 2 days. When no one called, I complained to the warranty company and they informed me that Va Electronics showed that my refrigerator was fixed and the work order was closed out. At that point I and went on Yelp and realized how bad VA Electronics is! Out of 60 reviews, 55 are 1 star and many, like me wouldn't even give them 1 star but that is the lowest grad possible! They are terrible! I then called GH Appliance and they sent a tech out the very next day. He also remove the ice with a steam machine. But then used voltmeter to check various parts. He hen said I am confident that i is the defrost heater thermostat and he had one on he truck. He installed it and voila, it worked. And that was three eels ago and the fridge will go down to 22 degrees but of course I keep it at 37 degrees. Total time to fix was less than 45 minutes and cost was $225.00. Don't do business with either VA Electronics or buy a warranty wit New Leaf. Life is too short. read more

They installed the part they initially said was broken, they later "discovered" a much more expensive part was needed and when I did not want to proceed with the repair they still charged for the initial part "because they cannot remove a part that has already been installed" even though the part was never used because the oven did not work and there was no evidence that the part they installed was the problem in the first place. I guess they thought the 12 year old they sent previously, but was on vacation was someone I preferred? This is not a reputable company. I scheduled a service call for a washing machine repair and had to pay a service fee up front for $175 which I was told would be applied to the service if the cost exceeded that amount. I cancelled the service prior to the appointment and was then informed that I would be charged a $75 cancellation fee. When I asked why I was not informed of such a cancellation fee when I originally called for the service they told me well it should have be told to me. When I told them that was their mistake I was told too bad. Then when I checked my credit card I discovered they charge me for the entire service fee of $175. When I called to dispute this they again told me that they could credit me back only $100 but they would keep $75. When I told them that they should stand up to their mistake in not telling me about this fee before hand they lied and said that I was told. You can't trust this company. The technicians were very courteous and did everything they could to attempt to fix the refrigerator. When it could not be repaired I was told that I would receive a refund for one of the parts. I have been calling continuously for more than a month and I am told every time that Eric is not in the office and they will put it on his desk again. My rating was very high for this company based on the technicians even though they were unable to fix the appliance. It has now dropped to 0 stars if I could go that low. I contacted Virginia Electronics to come repair my refrigerator because it wasn't cooling properly. My parts were covered under warranty, so all they needed to do was labor/install the new parts. In between the time I set up an appointment & actually had a tech show up, I had reset the refrigerator myself & got it back to cooling like it should, but decided to keep my appointment anyways to have everything looked over. The appointment day/time came & Tim, a tech, came to my house. He said that even though my refrigerator appeared to be working again, it was a matter of time before the compressor died completely. He said he'd replace it & the motherboard, & then I was quoted a price of $650. Tim said he was going to return after he ordered &received the parts from the manufacturer. A week later, he returned. He installed the new parts & thanks to his poor workmanship, the refrigerator began making a loud, horrible noise. He unsuccessfully tried stuffing some packing around the condenser to stop the noise, then packed up & left without resolving the problem. He NEVER bothered to resolve that new issue, nor did he EVER check out his work with any gauges or meters. I called Tim the next day & told him the noise had worsened & my refrigerator wasn't cooling anything at all. He came out later in the day & said that the motherboard was set to work with the old compressor. He reset the board, FINALLY checked things out with gauges & then told me there was now a blockage. He said he'd order parts & then left. A week passed & I'd heard NOTHING from Tim or Virginia Electronics Inc, so I called the dispatch rep. She said she had no knowledge of anything, so she'd talk to Tim & get back with me. The next day she called me back & said my EVAP coil needed to be replaced & that it would cost me $289 for the part. I told her it was under warranty & ended up sending her proof of that because she kept insisting it wasn't. The next day she called to say the parts were ordered & they'd set everything up when they came. A week later, a different tech, Timmy, came. After the installation of all the new parts, he told me that there was a blockage. He called the manufacturer & I was told the rep at the manufacturer said the refrigerator was irreparable. The next day, I reached out to the manufacturer & they told me that there was no record of my refrigerator ever being deemed irreparable. They told me they'd send one of their own techs to check things out & we'd go from there. A few days later, the manufacturer's tech came. In approximately an hour's time, their tech had done his troubleshooting, found a blockage & correctly fixed the refrigerator. The blockage was caused by the sloppy soldering that Tim had done the first time he "worked" on my refrigerator. The fact that the manufacturer's tech could find & fix my problem in such a short amount of time shows that this was an easy fix. I had been without a refrigerator for 30 DAYS thanks to Virginia Electronics Inc & not only that, they created a whole new issue with the horrible work they did on my refrigerator. An issue that they didn't ever even attempt to find! I called them, explained everything & asked for a refund of my $. THEY REFUSED. I took this matter to the BBB & filed a complaint. VIRGINIA ELECTRONICS INC'S RESPONSE WAS AS LAME AS THEIR WORKMANSHIP & CUSTOMER SERVICE. They responded by saying that they're still "refusing to give a refund, because the $650 was for the parts to be installed & they installed them". So basically, this company appears to not care if they install something correctly or not. They feel as long as they install something, they deserve $... even if they further destroy your property while doing so. My GE refrigerator began making a horribly loud noise, which had been going on to a lesser degree for 2 months. When it became worse, I was very afraid that it would stop working completely and I would lose food, which is very expensive now. I called Virginia Electronics at 2:00 p.m. on a Tuesday. i was told that the technician, Tim, would be here between 4:00 and 6:00. Tim arrived early and diagnosed the problem right away, the fan was failing. He was able to locate the part in Richmond and said he would return the next morning, which he did. He installed the part and refrigerator is back to working properly. Tim was no nice and very knowledgeable. I am so appreciative of the fast and efficient service. Last week I took my Dyson vacuum cleaner to Virginia Electronics in the Hanover Air park and dropped it off along with a $100 deposit which I was told would go against costs. Several days later the company called and told me the repair would cost about $350, probably more than the vacuum was worth. When I went to pick up the vacuum I was told my deposit would not be returned. As I was leaving the receptionist, the same woman who had accepted the vacuum cleaner and deposit, asked if I had tried a "vacuum cleaner repair place." Virginia Electronic I am very disappointed with the service. I paid 99.00 in advance for the service call for my Maytag Centennial washer. The problem with the machine was unbalanced during the spin cycle. During the technician call that lasted less than five minutes, he confirmed the imbalance. He recommended replacing the washer machine because it was not worth the cost to repair ( estimated repair cost $600.00). He recommended a new $1200.00 Queen washer from Virginia Electronic. Upon further review, I ordered a Maytag suspension rod kit for $75.00, correcting the washer during the spin cycle. I called management to request a refund because the technician's recommendation was inaccurate and misleading. It was more like a sales call than a service call. Per management, we will not refund the $99.00, and your fix is temporary 90 days at best. Virginia Electrionic can keep the $99.00, but this review will last forever, and the prospective customer will have this review before requesting a service call. Virginia Electronics was assigned to us by Lowe's to handle a warranty repair on our refrigerator's ice-maker. This odyssey started three weeks ago and the ice-maker still isn't working. The first appointment was canceled by them because they were just going to order the parts needed without even diagnosing the problem. The second appointment was canceled 30 minutes before the end of the appointment window after I had already stayed home from work for the appointment. The reason they canceled this time was because they realized that the parts that they had ordered were broken. They hadn't bothered to check them until that moment. We had to wait another week for a new appointment and this time my wife missed work. During this time, the tech installed the new part that was ordered (main unit of the ice-maker). He however did not remove any of the ice build up at the back of the unit or along any of the water supply lines. He left saying that we should see it making ice after 6-hours. 24-hours later, we still had no ice. We call them again. This time they're going to order the rest of the parts (again without properly diagnosing the problem). Third appointment and third time we are missing time from work to deal with this issue. Parts are replaced again and again the old ice build up was left in place. Promised again that it should start making ice after 6-hours. We gave it a couple of days and still no ice. Called them again. They asked a few questions and promised to get back to us. We haven't heard back from them since. The people were perfectly nice and at times apologetic, but this company is a disorganized mess and I seriously question their technical abilities to fix anything. We have called Lowe's back and insisted that they send another company to deal with this issue. read more

The store I bought my dishwasher from contracted this company to repair my dishwasher. They called me and said there was no need to come, they would just order parts and complete the repair. After a week I called to check the status. They knew nothing about the conversation on ordering parts. They told me to call the appliance store again. I asked why and they said they didn't know why. Meanwhile, I got an email from the store saying the repair was completed. On my call with the store I asked for a different contractor and I also asked why I got the email. They told me they send that email when they get notice from the contractor of the work completion. Samsung referred this company to fix my appliance. I was called by a lady and she informed me that it would cost over $200 just for them to show up to give an estimate to fix it. Unfortunately this was a known issue with Samsung that the appliance would turn on by itself, throw an error code and/or catch on fire. I then called Samsung again about the issue which the representative extended the offer to fix the issue covering both parts and labor. The Samsung representative told me that they had reissued a new ticket to Virginia Electronics, they would call us soon to schedule the appointment. After almost a week went by, I called them and left a message. The company called me back stammering over their words saying that they needed to order the parts and they would call back the following week. Samsung had advised me that the parts were already there at Virginia Electronics it was just a matter of them scheduling the appointment to install them. Another week goes by and finally get a call from Virginia Electronics to install the parts, but not before trying to extort money out of me for some other reason other than what they were assigned to do. When the tech finally showed up, the parts were damaged and broke within a couple of weeks of being installed. Again we were assigned to Virginia Electronics who refused to come out again. Our Samsung washing machine developed a leak that was clearly coming from the detergent dispenser. We set up an online chat with Samsung who arranged for a technician visit -- Robert from Virginia Electronics, Inc. Robert was completely incompetent -- he just opened the washer door and felt the rubber boot around the door and insisted that we needed to spend $400 for a new rubber boot for the door. He didn't examine any other parts of the washer. I found a YouTube video that suggested turning down the water pressure -- and that worked! No more leaks! We asked Virginia Electronics to refund the $125 paid for Robert to come out -- on their website, and then via a letter which we copied to the Samsung CEO. VEI didn't even reply! I do not trust them! Had to pay $99 over phone just to get them to come out ( this would be deducted out of fix so I figure no harm- wrong). Technician came on time, heard my description of dryer issue (wasn't steaming), slid tray holding water reservoir out, visually inspecting space inside and presumeably water pump and steamer which you can't see from that angle, called into shop and said it would cost $500 to fix as both pieces needed to be replaced! He did not take the top off, did not check either piece with a voltage meter, did not do rudimentary check to see if pump was even working, etc. Just a phone call into the shop and a random $500 diagnosis on a 2-year-old LG dryer. I declined service but lost $99. Called LG back raises a ruckus and they sent an actual LG tech, not "authorized service tech". Technician called ahead, I described issue with steamer, he preordered parts so they would be Fedexed the next morning - got a couple different ones just in case though we were only going to be charged a flat fee. He came next afternoon as promised - calling ahead of time. He took top off, tested water pump which was fine, and checked steamer with voltage meter as he saw it was holding water. It was bad. He installed new one and tests cycle. Whole thing took 30 minutes including a 20 minute drying cycle. He told me the cost of the 2 parts would have totaled no more than $105. I only need the one with a cost of $70. Bottom line, do not use a company that makes you pay over the phone and doesn't do diagnostics but makes up a price. $500 vs 180 is a pretty big disparity and make one wonder what kind of company this really is. I intend to get my $99 back and I don't mind hiring an attorney to do it as I'm tired of companies that are tin like this. read more

On June 23rd 2021 I hired a company by the name of Virginia Electronics (10975 RICHARDSON RD #A, ASHLAND, VA 23005) (+1 804-798-4570) to repair my faulty Ice Maker. As one would expect, they charged me $125 just to walk in the door. After a quick diagnosis, the young technician, Robert, determined the ice maker needed to be replaced. He ordered a replacement and returned a week or two later to replace it. The ice maker seemed to work for a short period of time, but then stopped again. I called Virginia Electronics back, Robert returned, and attempted to replace some wiring harness... That did not work, so he put the old one back in. Again, the Ice Maker worked for a short period of time and then stopped. For the third time I called VE and they returned again, charging another $125. This time Robert gave me some explanation that the ice maker was fine, but the refrigerator had some type of short that was affecting the ice maker and that he could not fix it. Long story short, I was charged over $450 and I still had a refrigerator with a broken ice maker. But wait, it gets better, I called Sears and they sent out two technicians by the name of Anthony and Kyle. They looked at the ice maker, went back to their shop, grabbed a replacement ice maker and had it replaced and working in less than two hours total. He advised that the ice maker installed by VE was defective and that my refrigerator works just fine... I am unhappy with Virginia Electronics! They took a lot of money from me, sent out an inexperienced technician, lied to me about the ability to repair, but still charged me for fixing absolutely nothing. I do not consider myself a very difficult person, in fact, all I wanted was a properly repaired/replaced ice maker and I was more then willing to pay for it. What I got from Virginia Electronics was a lot of bills, no repairs, and then a refusal to take back and refund their defective ice maker. I guess my advice to those who need an appliance repair is to NOT call Virginia Electronics. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE FOLKS. YOU CAN find 100's of better companies! In fact they are the very reason Yelp need to allow zero stars. We bought high-end Samsung range and a five year Lowes warranty. The glass cook top stopped working and through lowes they sent these morons out to diagnose and repair. The technician said he say a rodent damaged harness and that was the problem. He left and we heard nothing for 5 days. At that point I had a friend who's a retired appliance tech look at it and in 5 seconds he said I know the problem. The 220v wires on the FACTORY side of the buss bar were loose - clearly a warranty covered item. The tech told my 21year old son that it would probably require a harness and control board. Clearly this is the old style well it's not covered but... SCAM! He then told Lowes the range was "infested". A few mouse droppings (likely from the original installation as we have no mice that I know of in our house - but clearly not an INFESTATION. That report then voided our 5 year warranty - one of the reasons we did buy this expensive range. I bought a new pig tail and 20 minutes the range was repaired. I call Virginia Electronics ask why hasn't someone called me and I'm told oh we let Lowes do that - so let a customer just wait. We bought this as a open-box returned - I'll deal with Lowes and I'm going to ask them to look these guys up and then pull them off the repair roster forever. Lesson - If a company has 2 or less stars DON'T GIVE then your cash. read more

Chelsea is the most unprofessional service manager I have ever encountered in customer service. The order call was rejected before any service began!!! This individual stated that she never received the order which I had a confirmation call the day prior. Rude, condescending and abrupt!!! The main problem is that as people who are seeking help with their appliance or other technical product, we are looking for assistance and with this kind of individual in charge we are doomed!!! I'm sure the workplace there is not only stressful but a revolving door of unhappy employees!!! I CANNOT GIVE THEM ANY STARS...but I will give them a negative one read more

I really have no idea if they are good or not as they never showed up for a scheduled appointment. Was scheduled through Lowes (I have the paperwork stating such) and I took a day off of work for them to show between 8 and 12. Never showed, never called, nothing. Wasted a day of work with out any call or apology. And I still have a broken refrigerator. I'm guessing why this is why they only have a 2 star overall rating. read more

No diagnosis needed! I reported a problem to Lowe's Service Advantage and they sent Virginia Electronics to do the repair under warranty. They called and scheduled the diagnostic appointment, then called me back and said we know what's wrong with your refrigerator we're going to order the part and call you to schedule the repair. In a few days they called and came to replace a fan in the upper compartment. Worked great for five week when the original problem returned... hmmmm So I called Lowe's Service Advantage and they said your extended warranty has expired. Call Virginia Electronics they provided the part and labor. So I called and Virginia Electronics said it was over the 30 day warranty and could not cover the part or Labor !!! I would have to pay for the service call. $120.00 for a diagnostic service call. Oh so now that it's out of warranty you want to diagnose the problem on my dime. Poor service they are hiding behind a 30 day warranty on a major part on a $2000.00 refrigerator. read more
