My laptop required a quick fix of the power botton. I called and they answered immediately. The offered me and option to walk-in for a quick dianostic look and possible fix. Zach was able to look at it and fix it in minutes! He explained the problem to me and showed me the steps he took to fix it. Zach rocks! read more

I don't write reviews for places. I essentially gave this place an integrity test and they failed. I brought in my first ever custom pc build that I set up with some help from a more knowledgeable friend. It had been crashing frequently for some reason and I brought it to them to diagnose. They held it for over 2 weeks before sending me a triple tier repair quote, ranging from $610 (more than the cost of the entire motherboard build minus maybe the gpu) all the way up to $850. These repair tiers included various things that did not actually need to be done to the computer (driver installs, os updates, things any conscious human could do on their own via a quick google search). I know this because I dissected the motherboard when I got home and immediately found the issue: the plastic strip on the m2 heat sink was still in place, effectively insulating my ssd drive. Upon replacing the drive, and removing the plastic of course, my system has been operating flawlessly since, except for of course the video display port on my gpu now having rendering and screen tearing issues it had never remotely experienced before taking it to the shop. To put it in perspective, this would be like taking your car to the mechanic because you've been leaving your handbrake on every time you drive it, and they quote you almost the cost of the car itself to perform some general maintenance. Any reputable mechanic would tell you the issue, maybe check for damage as a result, and send you out the door likely with little to no charge. I'm pretty disappointed, especially with how desperate the technician seemed to have my business, despite never actually looking at the computer. All in all, I'd say if you know absolutely nothing about fixing computers and want it fixed properly, just be ready to empty out your wallet for whatever insane amount they quote you, so they can potentially solve your actual issue; or maybe just solve a non-issue and keep you coming back when your system still has problems. read more

I went here after being disappointed by Experimax. Located literally 4 mins away. They helped me same day & were more than delightful to talk to. I would highly recommend again. It's also super cool to see the old school computers they have inside. read more

I contacted Computer Cave about getting a custom PC built specifically for my job. Despite this service typically being used for gaming computers, they had more than enough expertise to help with my unique and specific requirements. We were able to delve through each specific part of the computer and fulfill my exact needs at a very fair price. I was extremely impressed overall and would be happy to use CC again for anything computer or tech related. read more

Super attentive and knowledgeable. Their honesty was refreshing and they even lost business because they informed me the computer was still under AppleCare. They will be the first place I go for any issues in the future and they will the first place I refer people to! read more

If you're looking for an honest and fair place, you've found it. I was having some minor issues with my laptop and asked if I could stop in via Instagram and was messaged back within a few minutes. Upon arrival everyone was friendly and they were able to look at my laptop. They explained the issue and actually recommended me to talk with apple to get a free replacement part instead of telling me to do it in house earning themselves revenue. This was my first experience here and I will continue to come back after this awesome level of honesty and customer service. read more

Outstanding service and great personalities. Sill in for repair but prior experience reinforces their 5 star++ rating.

This is hand down the best place !!!!! They helped me so much multiple times from my MacBook to my broken phone screen to my Apple Watch these guys are lovely !!!!!!! read more

THESE GUYS ARE TERRIFIC. They sorted out two Windows machines for me (a Dell desktop and an HP notebook) that just would NOT finish startup. Finding out they also work on Macs (since I'm actually a Mac, not a PC) was like finding an oasis in a desert, 'cause I am not a fan of the Apple Store, and it turns out CapMac was douchecanoes, which is why they're no longer in business. Cannot say enough great things about the whole experience, and the guys who own/work this joynt. Color me total stan for this business. I won't take my gear anywhere else now. read more

I have a BlackBerry Key2 LE. I was having charge port issues. I was referred to Computer Cave by the manager of another cell phone repair company. When I called I spoke with Joey. He was very helpful & made sure that they would be able to repair my phone before I made the 1hr 45min drive to their shop. When I got there they examined my phone & ordered the correct part. I was told up front what the repair with the part would be. I told them to order the part. It arrived two days later. It took less than 30 mins for Joey to complete the repair. My phone works like new once again! I am so thankful I called them. They are awesome across the board. I highly recommend anyone who has any kind of issue with their phone or computer to call Computer Cave. They will make the repair for a great price! read more

I researched the expected repair cost before going in. It was right around the expected cost. The service was excellent, very approachable. Explained everything clearly. Told me the expected repair date, but I was pleasantly surprised when it was done a few days early due to quick part delivery. I appreciate them giving me a conservative time estimate rather than over promising and under delivering. They helped me with my computer screen repair, and I picked up a new phone screen protector while I was at it. The drive into Richmond isn't something I would normally do, but it was worth it. They will definitely be my go to repair place. read more

The professionals at Computer Cave are top notch. I would never even think of taking my PC anywhere else after the seamless experience I had with their team. After doing my own extensive troubleshooting, I brought them a new custom gaming PC build that was experiencing frequent Blue Screens. Their check-in process was easy, and their staff contacting me every day with updates on my diagnostics. They were able to identify the problem (a faulty motherboard) and got it running like a dream. read more

I went to computer cave about 2 years ago when my MacBook Pro had water damage, I thought my computer was DONE. But these magicians were able to get my computer in perfect working condition with NONE of my data lost. I was stunned. They're very affordable and professional. I'm very happy with they're services, Shane fixed my computer to perfect working condition. This is a place you can trust to not scam you, or charge ridiculous fees for no reason. Keep up the good work guys! They also do a free diagnostics test! read more

WOW!! I would give them 10 starts if I could! The customer service at Computer Cave went above and beyond for a person whose day was slowly turning into a nightmare. I don't know if it's the southern Virginia hospitality, but the guys here are amazing! Had a new battery and trackpad installed for a MacBook. Parts came in quickly and service completed in a few hours. Highly recommend this crew and it will be much cheaper and quicker than an Apple store repair. read more

My MacBook Pro has had a lot of graphics related kernel panics lately. The issue is well known with this machine and it requires a capacitor to be replaced on the PCB. I was looking for a local shop that can perform this kind of PCB component level repairs. The guys at Computer Cave are knowledgeable, responsive, and about all, honest and passionate about what they do. They went above and beyond in my case and I'd gladly recommend them to anyone who has issues with their devices. They offer services beyond Richmond areas. I highly recommend the Computer Cave in downtown Richmond. They recently assisted me with a logic board repair and returned my MacAir fixed within 12 hours.  Really impressed with their service and this quick outcome, so definitely check with them first if you have any Mac issues! read more

The service at Computer Cave is phenomenal. I can't recommend them highly enough. They have been taking care of my 2013 MacBook Pro for a little over 2 years now. They have fixed a faulty battery and soup spilled on a keyboard. They stand behind the work to the point where they replaced my keyboard again at almost no cost even though we were both uncertain if I had spilled something on the keyboard again. They're honest, fast and stand behind the work. read more

Had a broken phone that needed a few capacitors looked at and micro soldered in addition to a replacement home button. Heard from a guy at a local store about this spot. Emailed them and got a response same night. Andrew, they guy that runs the joint, was able to: 1) Have all the work needed done and ready for pickup before a full 24 hours had passed. 2) Had thrown in some extra care for no extra charge - repairing another part of the logic board i hadn't know was damaged, cleaning, replacing parts I had either damaged, lost, or just neglected to put back in when fiddling with the phone myself. I was impressed by their ticket system and web portal - you get detailed notifications about the status of your tech. Hadn't been expecting something like that for a small business. Not to discredit any of the other local tech repair shops, but Andrew and his business have a professional and pleasant demeanor I have found to be uncommon in the area. Additionally, Andrew was able to quote me a fair price from another micro soldering company when I had asked. I would say I had nothing less than a great experience and I appreciate how thorough Andrew was with his work. read more
