Though my old computer worked, it was too outdated for the software. Landon had someone assist me in selecting a perfect match and arranged to transfer my data. I also mentioned I'd return for another computer for remote work. When I came back on April 9, Landon helped me pick a second computer that met all my needs. I used to go here back when it was a store by another name that had all the same services. I've taken many items here and have ALWAYS preferred their speed, customer service, and the lack of a huge crowd to the service the Apple store provides. This place is approved by Apple, so last I checked--and I may be wrong--repairs made under the warranty are free (Unless you voided it somehow.) Like I said, a HUGE PLUS is the fact that the store is small; The line of people waiting for their Genius Bar "reservation" (Which Apple has a different definition of which is "The time you'll show up and take a number" rather than "The time you'll show up and get serviced, even if someone else walked in before you at the same time WITHOUT a reservation"), that amount of people will not FIT inside this building. They have a small waiting area, but that's it--and it's a plus. You can call ahead and make an appointment or walk in, but odds are at most, there can only be between 4-6 people in line before you. The other plus; They repair on site. Apple's policy--at their stores--is to ALWAYS ship your computer back to Apple if it has more than a minor, and I mean MINOR issue (Minor as in, "Oh, I can't figure out the brightness setting" or "How do I connect things via Bluetooth?") Worse, is Apple has this cute policy; Any issue you bring a system in for, they ship it out, do the most minor repair, and return it. My issue was a keyboard on an old laptop got recalled; I hated the old keyboard and when I saw my laptop was part of the recall to replace them, to the Apple store I took it. INSTEAD of replacing it--like the recall SAID IT WOULD--they shipped it out. . .to have someone clean the keys. When they returned it and explained, I said I had brought it in for the RECALL REPLACEMENT keyboard, and if a cleaning was all it needed, I'd never had brought it in (Some of us routinely clean our own!) The employee told me they were aware of the recall, but it's Apple's POLICY to pull this stunt, and then force the customer to return YET AGAIN to get the service as promised. For the record; When Job's was alive, Apple's customer service was amazing--previously they actually mailed me a free keyboard when my Bluetooth one wouldn't synch, paid for the shipping, etc., and told me it was just routine service. That was 2005; 15 years later, you can't get that kind of service. . .from Apple. But you CAN get amazing service HERE. Your computer, if possible, will be repaired on site. Instead of two weeks (Apple store standard repair time), it's two days. I trust these guys and use them exclusively--I even buy new or refurbished through them, as their prices often beat out Amazon, eBay, etc. If you hate the service at Apple for repairs, you aren't alone; Go here. Experience what it's like to have the people working on your computer be not just some of the best at repair, data recovery, and even overclocking, but the best at customer service while they're at it. read more

Couldn't BE better! I was passing through town, and constantly dying battery on iPhone had to be addressed. They knew EXACTLY what was going on, (who knew iPhone batteries die?!) -- replaced immediately, at nominal price, recommended lovely coffee shop nearby while I waited, AND -- kindly showed me all manner of features on the phone I hadn't taken time to learn about before -- without making me feel like an idiot. I've had trouble with every PC I've ever owned. I decided that I was going to purchase a Mac and actually went to a different shop on Cary Street to do so. When I got to the other shop, as I expected, the prices were outrageous and they were sold out. I stumbled upon Experimac on accident. The staff was very friendly, helpful and answered all of my questions. Experimac sells mostly refurbished Mac computers, however they stand behind the products they sell. I had an issue with the battery in my Mac, I called and they replaced it without question. I also purchased the extended warranty plan which covers pretty much everything and I would recommend that you do the same. Experimac is a small shop that specializes in repairs, so at times that get extremely busy. You may have to wait, but it's well worth it. read more

My husband, niece, and I came across Experimac yesterday as we were moving said niece into the VCU campus. Her iPhone's screen was cracked, and we definitely needed it to be repaired before the semester started. Was very impressed overall. We were honestly expecting that she wouldn't get her phone back until Monday (in which she'd have to figure out how to get there since we were only around for the move-in). But at 4:50 pm, we got a call that her phone screen was replaced and ready to pickup. Massive bonus points when the owner told us that we could still stop by even after shop hours just so my niece could be reunited with her phone. That gesture alone showed me that this place really care about making the customers happy. I'll definitely be coming back here whenever I visit my niece and will require service regarding her iPhone and Macbook. Cost of the repair was moderate (she even got a screen protector), but then again I sometimes think you simply are paying more for Apple stuff (and just have to acknowledge that reality). And I like their financing options on pre-owned Macbooks (which are already reasonable in terms of price) if I'm ever faced with the dreaded reality of replacing the kid's older version. Wife took our gaming PC here to be repaired since they said they work on PCs as well. Said they would call later that day or the next day at the latest. Three days later, no call so we call. We are told that their tech would call us by the end of that day. No call. Called again on the fourth day and was told that the graphics card is dead and that we need a new one. This didn't make sense since we tried a different graphics card and it didn't solve the problem. We took the computer to a different repair company and they tested everything, including the video card, which they confirmed was fine. The issue was the motherboard, which required replacement. Can't get back the wasted days leaving this with Experimac, but I would like back my $25 diagnostic fee. At least I didn't waste $500 by taking their incorrect advice and buying a new card. read more

I had such a nightmare experience here! Please consider this review before taking your devices here! I came in for a simple screen replacement on my daughters iPad 6. It took almost all week to get it fixed. It looked ok when picked up, about a week later the home button completely slid off! I was so upset. Again brought it back to get it fixed. The owner was less than caring about the situation they caused. Finally after several days, I called to check and they were calling the wrong number, blaming it on me. Then they said they would replace the battery & refund me for the inconvenience. Picked the iPad up and 2 days later the screen was lifting up a lot and the home button was loose again! I couldn't believe this! I took the device to iRite and they found out it was a complete botch job! Old adhesive wasn't cleaned out, they completely stripped the screws and they were missing that held the glass screen on, & the home button was put on wrong -losing itouch capabilities, also they couldn't confirm if the battery was replaced. I had to pay another company to fix their mistakes!! Unbelievable!! Stay away from this place!! read more

worst experience! The quality of service goes down every year.Choose another repair store or another location. I took my son's iPad in for a new screen and they returned it with scratches inside the new screen so I took it right back and the manager said they would have to replace it again and have it ready for me the next day... I went to get it and it was new scratches in different places and the guy who fixed it told me that, that's how all their screens look that they fix which was a stupid explanation (and sad if it's true) and I know he just was lying because he didn't want me to say anything to the owner again. Then once I got home I realized he had messed up my son's digitizer and I couldn't click the screen in certain places and That had never been an issue. I called to complain and no one ever got back with me so I just decided to not go back because of the horrible customer service and LACK of accountability. read more

My iphone 6 battery was dying! Completely on it's death bed - it would go from 90% battery to 4 % battery after reading one text message lol. After going to the overcrowded Apple Store and letting them test it, I was told that my battery was "consumed" and needed to be replaced soon. Now, I won't get on my soap box about the crappy iphone 6 batteries that Apple created -but if you have an iphone 6 chances are you feel my pain! Of course, I was out of my warranty and I refused the offer of the gleeful Apple staff member to pay " a small cost of ONLY $79 + tax" to replace the battery AND leave my phone there for an entire day, due to the backup of work-orders. I left and decided to find an alternative and/or just allow my phone to die in peace, before chunking out money. As I was running an errand, I happened to see a sign for ExperiMac. I swerved quick, put my fire parallel parking skills to work, used my Usain Bolt inspired speed to jolt across cary street during mid day traffic, and somehow made it inside alive to inquire about their charge for an iphone battery replacement. Here are key points from my experience: 1. Iphone 6 battery replacement was $39 + tax ($42.11). Half the price of Apple 2. Note: I personally wasn't worried about my apple warranty being voided since mine had already expired. But if you are, then you may want to check on that first 3. They estimate approx. 30 minutes for the job depending on how many customers are in front of you. Since someone was in front of me, it took them around 45 min to fully complete my replacement. Which is better than leaving it at the Apple Store for 24 hrs and having to drive all the way back out to short pump again 4. Process was easy and straight to the point - filled out an work order form and that was it 5. Your battery replacement comes with a 90 day warranty should anything go wrong 6. They have a small seating area, should you decide to just wait around. But they are near so many shops and restaurants that you can walk around in the fan to kill time 7. They also sell refurbished Mac computers and accessories. 8. The customer service was great! The owner was personable, friendly and professional 9. The store was clean, stocked, and organized - which is a plus! 10. They threw in a nice microfiber screen cleaner with the company name on it (sorta like the ones that come with designer sunglasses). Nice touch and good marketing strategy All in all, this store is a nice addition to the community and it can help save you some money in the clutch! read more

Their service is very fast and painless, and I was able to pick up my repaired phone within an hour.
