We had West End Heating and Air replace our heat pump/air handler and we're very pleased with the results. We opted to pay more upfront for a better unit (American Standard) that qualifies for an energy efficiency tax credit. So unless there's an issue with the tax credit, we ended up paying less for a better unit in the long run. They completed the job in about 5-6 hours. read more

We are highly disappointing with west end heating and air. They are a dishonest company. We called them because AC wasn't cooling as efficiently in downstairs. We had an inspection done a month prior which showed everything was in working order. They came and said there was a motor that needed replacing. then once we said ok to replace the condensor motor for $800 , they said there were other leaks in the refrigerant and that it would cost us another $900. we quickly said not to do any repairs and gave them the $105 and sent them on their way. had another guy look at it and replaced it for a fraction of the cost. very shady company and would never let them step foot in our house again. read more

They do a good job but really gouge you. Technician was here about an hour, installed a $100 part and charged $466! Even with a 100% markup that's still $266/hour. They also wanted to charge $271 to replace a $15 part that literally required taking out two screws; less than a minute work, two max. I'd definitely try a couple of other big name HVAC service providers who are more honest in pricing than West End. read more

This company was selected by my home warranty co when one of our AC units failed. The issue has not been fully resolved as we are waiting for a part to be delivered but I am totally impressed by their promptness, efficiency and great customer service. Update - West End Heating and Air supposedly reports to American Home Shield that my 25 year old A/C's problem is from "damage" and not wear and tear so that AHS can deny my claim. So I get a 2nd opinion from a non-AHS repair company. Says the damage claim is bogus! Just normal wear and tear you'd expect from a 25 year old A/C unit. Kinda looks like West End Heating and Air works for the benefit of American Home Shield and NOT the customers. Shameful company. Stay away from these folks! read more

We could not reach anyone that same day, the next morning we were told they could not come back for 6 days. The office manager also told me that the issues were probably due to me not maintaining my system. EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL !!!!! She also lied and said she was the owner after telling me she worked for the home warranty company. Thanks to the amazing customer service representative at AHS another company sent a technician out and the issue was that the West End Heating and Air technician had not turned the unit back on after he completed his work. As a home owner - I expected the technician to ensure the unit would work and I never thought we needed to go into the attic and perform the job of the technician. This company is shady and deceptive- they operate under the guise of being a "small company just trying to survive" but they are anything but your neighborhood repair company. I was referred to them from my home warranty company. I waited several weeks for an AC that was running inefficiently. Key word: RUNNING. I wasn't home when the service person came, so they spoke to my partner. The service person told my partner that my until needed 7lbs of Freon at $125/pound. My warranty company doesn't pay this so I would need to. They also indicated there were leaks. I get home that afternoon my house was hot. It has never been hot, just the bill was high so I knew it wasn't running efficiently. Long story short: the technician flipped something in my until so it wouldn't connect and blow cool air. Without our consent. to make us think something was wrong. 2- My unit will only hold 3lbs MAX- not the 7 they were going to "fill my unit with" and charge me for. if it were depleted of Freon (it wasn't come to find out) This company wanted to sell me nearly $800 bucks in gas that I didn't need. And had the nerve to slap their gaudy WEST END HEATING AND AIR sticker on my unit like they did something to brag about. I feel sorry for people who don't have the resources to NOT take them at face value and research further. read more

Yesterday West End Heating and Air installed our new heat pump system. It was our first experience with the company (my husband met one of the owners at the gym). Ronnie, Brian and Charlie did a great job. They had to carry large heavy equipment into our home (air handler), and they didn't bump our walls even though they had a difficult turn going up 2 flights of stairs into the attic. We had gotten three estimates from different companies, and West End gave us the best price for the same equipment and same warranty. They were selected through ahs warranty to repair my heat pump that was not cooling properly. The repair technician claimed it needed a fan, fan motor and compressor. I was told at this time the freon levels was fine. There was no mention that when a compressor was installed we would need more freon. This is of course a cost that ahs does not pay. Westend heating and cooling repaired the fan and fan motor. They did not secure all of the screws in our unit. I call them back about this issue and they did tighten the screws. I reluctantly paid for the freon to have my compressor repaired. The service tech after installing the compressor put his hand to the vent which the fan was on but not the A/C. Then he looked at the thermostat but never changed the setting to verify anything but stated to give them a call if not cooling properly they can add more freon. I did call them back because when I used the A/C is was still not working after paying for 6 lbs of freon. I then told by the dispatcher I would need new service request ticket through ahs warranty. I asked why since they never fixed my unit in the first place. I was told they were there to fix the heat which is of course a lie. Why would the tech want to add more freon if not cooling properly also I told the service tech on the first visit the heat is working. I looked at my unit and they have wires zip tied to the heat pump lid and it's making a strange noise that it didn't before. I just wanted to warn anyone thinking about using this company. read more

This company is very unreliable. As a member of American Home Shield (warranty company), Westend was assigned to me because I had a central air unit that was blowing hot air and it would not shut off. The first technician showed up to my home on 05/18/2018. After inspecting my unit he told me that the unit was fine and that my compressor was loose - which he fixed); in addition he mentioned that the incorrect compressor was added to the unit. He left my home without even checking my vent to see if cool air was coming out of it. During the weekend, hot air started coming out again and the unit would not shut off. I called my home warranty company on Monday (05/21/2018) to let them know. They in turn contacted Westend Heating and Air. Later on in the day, I received a phone call from Westend with an appointment on 05/22/2018. This technician showed up at my home with his pants falling down and his butt crack showing. While he was inspecting my unit, I heard loud banging from outside. When I looked outside he was not at my unit. It appears that he was doing something in my storage room. My outside unit was running before he came, but when he left the unit was no longer running. He told me that I needed a new compressor and that I will need to add refrigerant. He said that my home warranty will cover the cost of compressor, but that I will have to pay for refrigerant (Freon) which he estimates would cost $1,150 for 10 lbs. I told him that I will not be paying for 10 lbs because my unit only needs 3 lbs (normal amount). He also told me and gave me an estimate for me to purchase a new unit which will cost $5,960. I told him that I will not be purchasing a new unit at this time because I could not afford to do so with/without financing. He then told me that I need to be smart and get the new unit. I told him that he needed to focus on getting the new compressor so that I can get some cool air in my home. My home was so hot, that he asked me to come outside so that he can speak with me. On 05/23/2018 I called my home warranty company to get a status on my order. They put me on hold and called Westend. When they got back on the phone, they told me that Westend was waiting for a manager to approve the order and that Westend would call me. They did not, and so on 05/24/2018 I called Westend again. One of the ladies told that the company was waiting on my home warranty company and that I will not get any service until the first week in June. I was very angry and told her I could not wait that long and that I would call my home warranty company. Within 5 minutes, I then called the home warranty company and they put me on hold to speak to Westend. When the rep came back on the phone she told me that Westend had the compressor, but they will not be able to come out to my home until the week of 05/28/2018. So it seems that the story changes at Westend. In the meantime, I have expressed my disappointment with my home warranty company (American Home Shields) and their contracts with these questionable companies. read more

I started using Westend Heating and Air in 2017 when my unit stopped operating. They replaced my unit and I did a service contract with them. Up until today I would have recommended them highly but had a terrible time with scheduling, not showing up as promised, and office staff incompetence. The technicians have always been friendly and knowledgeable but the owner needs to keep on eye on his office. I wrote to the owner about my dissatisfaction and quite honestly I am tired of typing about the problem but the straw that broke the camel's back came in the form of being notified (after the servicing) that this was the start of a new annual contract and not the second of the services offered through my contract as I was told by the woman in the office. I wrote to the owner, or so I thought, and 10 minutes later the woman that created all the issues called me and started calling me a liar about the things I wrote. Where is the ethics of this company and how do you express your displeasure if someone in his office is screening the emails? And who calls up a customer and berates them? The price for this company was on point and their technicians are good but I am going to a more professional company in the future.
