    Old piping was not removed!! Thanks James River for treating my crawlspace as your dumpster.

    Do not trust this company!!! I paid a premium (more $ than other quotes I'd received) 6 years ago for an install of two HVAC units in my home. I had initially chosen James River because the salesman showed up with a thermal load calculation to properly size the units I needed (which the other companies did not do). Fast forward to this summer. I finally ventured into my crawl space and am astounded by the horrible work done James River. I will be filing a formal complaint with the BBB. 1. James River did not cut and remove the old piping when they re-routed the line for the downstairs unit. (see pic.) 2. James River did not fully insulate the new pipes so there are many sections that were left exposed on the bare ground which has corroded the pipes. They also DID NOT HANG any of the pipes (!!). (see pic) 3. James River made a hole (about 3x larger than what was needed) in my foundation and did not even bother to seal it properly! They also left a HUGE hole behind my air handler which they did not seal. This, in turn, created a direct route from the outside units into my crawlspace and right into my garage which has led to constant pest problems in my garage and crawl space since the install (!!!). (see pic) 4. James River placed my outdoor units on hollow plastic foundations without any grading/rocks/wood to support the weight, so it's warping now. Did I mention it's only been 6 years?! (see pic) 5. I paid for a maintenance service this past winter and they DO NOT clean the coils of the outdoor units. I only recently found out from other contractors that coils should be cleaned! I watched the workers very carefully (because they seemed so shady) and literally the only thing they did was vacuum the handful of leaves that had settled there. That's it!

    Technicians came early, on time and finished,I think, in a timely manner. Replaced my whole system fr gas heat to heat pump heat and air.

    Too expensive. Just for a technician to come to the house was $125.00. Anything else = extra $$$.

As for the job itself (garbage disposal replacement) the service tech tried to unjam the old one first (which would have saved me money) but came to the conclusion the old one was toast. Installed a new one quickly and cleanly. Price was exactly as quoted. As he was boxing his tools I asked if White Glove did any water quality testing and explained a problem I suspect I have on my supply line. He offered to take a sample on the spot that would be sent off to a lab. He quoted me a price and said I could pay in a week when the sample came back. How much more could I ask for? Great first experience with White Glove. They are at the top of my list for future needs.

I've had many techs come out to my house over the years but Nick was one of most professional and knowledgeable techs I have seen. Extremely friendly, knew what he was doing and took the time to explain things where it made sense. I was actually going to go with another company for my next years annual contract but after meeting Nick and watching him go about his job, I'm staying with White Glove. You might find a few companies cheaper than White Glove but by sticking with them, I know I'm getting my monies worth. Thanks Nick for your professionalism and your work ethic. I wish there were more guys like you out there.

But in case you want more details, I've had bad luck with plumbers. I get overcharged and jerked around... I called Harry because, well, he had one review on Yelp, and it wasn't a bad one and he isn't somebody I had called before. I don't think I was the nicest guy to him on the phone (not outright rude) but I did tell him I didn't really trust plumbers in the area based on my previous experiences. He told me his story, and it's basically that he worked for the big companies for years, knew their tactics, didn't like it, and wanted to do his job for an honest price. He went to my house and unclogged my kitchen sink. Guess what, when he called me to tell me how much it cost, it was in line with what he told me when I first called him. He didn't jack the price up on me, he didn't rip me off, he was honest. He fixed the problem, he charged me what he said he would charge, and there were no additional fees. Tonight I called him about another issue. Like I said, he's the first plumber that's gotten my repeat business and he will continue to get my business as long as I still own my house in Richmond, which I hope not to for much longer, and am planning on putting it on the market this spring, if anybody is interested... just kidding, sort of... no, not really, I am not kidding, I'm ready to sell it. I can't be a long distance landlord anymore. But enough about me, if you need a good plumber, call Harry, seriously.

So grateful we found him. Below review from 7/2025 I have never left a 5 star review from only talking to a business owner, but please read on. I left Harry a detailed message about a couple of toilets in my 4 year old home leaking from tank to bowl. I thought maybe the flapper, but when it happened to an upstairs & downstairs toilet around the same time, I panicked & thought it was maybe a plumbing system issue. Harry called me back promptly & let me know right up front that he was fully booked until August. But he also eased my mind by reminding me that the toilets were all put in at the same time, so more than one could have components wearing out at the same time. Since I only had leaking to the bowl, I changed the flappers & now they both work great! Even though he was very busy, he took the time to call me back. Even though he was booked until August, he listened to what I said. Granted he didn't try to diagnose over the phone, but his common sense, honest approach prevented me from calling another company for an emergency that I didn't have. He was right. I had two toilets with faulty equipment at the same time..a coincidence! I would highly recommend Harry; he is busy for a reason. I would schedule with him in the future if I needed a plumber.

He explained to me how my service was guaranteed for a year and that they'd gladly come by to replace my toilet for the new one of purchased at no cost. They showed up on time, kept me updated throughout the day and finished the job quickly. Now I have a new functioning toilet so thank you! Re-update They misquoted me on the replacement of the 2nd toilet which I had them do at the same time as the other I had issues with. (told me it would be $120-130 and the other one was free of charge) and now charging me $248. Also the bathroom smells SO BAD now. It smells like sewer water.

They will have to come back five times to fix the same issue because they don't take enough time or care to fix it right the first time and they overcharge you crazy amounts!! WORST RAN COMPANY IVE EVER SEEN. All they care about is how much they can get out of you.. sad.
