Outrageous Overcharging! Stay away from F. HRR! They will vastly overcharge you for basic repairs and give you false information just to make a bigger sale. They charged me a staggering $800 just for a basic capacitor and the labor to install it. They claimed a universal fan motor would not fit my HVAC unit. They lied to me and said that my unit would only fit the expensive manufacturer model for $2,400. I called a second company for a backup opinion. They easily installed a universal fan motor with zero issues. The total cost for parts and labor was a fraction of what F. HRR quoted me.This company is dishonest and overpriced. Save your hard-earned money and call a different HVAC service instead. read more

Got great service when they were locally owned, but since they are now part of FH Furr, they're terrible. I'm one of the lucky former customers who called to schedule a maintenance appointment for a water tank flush, left a message, and never heard from them. Perhaps it was because I mentioned the $49 promotion that they offer on their website, that they didn't bother returning the call. Two weeks later on a Saturday, I contacted The Plumbing Officials who responded within 10 minutes and offered to do the job that day but I scheduled the job for Monday. That's how service is supposed to work. It's appears that the new company is only looking for volume and their work isn't what it used to be. To get a better idea, check out the reviews for FH Furr on yelp, It ain't pretty. Fun fact: FH Furr doesn't allow you to opt out of receiving ALL emails from them. Sure, you can stop the marketing emails, but they force you to select from a list of the ones you want. There's no "Leave Me Alone" option, so if you are a previous customer, you will continue to be contacted. read more

Short Pump Heating & Air - Plumbing Near Me - Richmond, Virginia

I had a shower that was slowly leaking. I had purchased the hardware and wanted them to do either a gasket kit to stop leak or use my hardware and replace. The guy that came out said that either option is not possible. I needed a Delta. My Koehler was a 6 inch but my shower required a 4 inch whatever that means. He also said the gasket kit was not possible for some reason? He offered a solution, a package deal where he would use his hardware and replace all included for 1000 dollars. That was it, the only option. I chose this company because a neighbor was related to someone in the company. It did not sound right so I told him I would be in touch and paid the 90 dollars (to be shook down). I got another quote, simply said he could do the gasket for 150ish dollars or use my hardware I bought for 400 dollars. Heck he did not even have to cut into the back of the dry wall to get inside. Excellent job replacing for less than half of quote. I would give zero stars if I could due to the lies. Hope you enjoy the 90 bucks to lie to me for 5 minutes. read more

Verdict For my HVAC, I've worked with 3 contractors and spoken with 10 altogether in the area. I highly recommend Short Pump Heating & Air. They are knowledgeable in providing the best solution for a fair price. It's not the lowest, but the most valuable. Jason and his staff were responsive and knowledgeable. They don't take shortcuts, but provide the best recommendation for the best quality of life. For plumbing, while I did reach out to Short Pump Heating & Air, I ultimately went with another company because what I wanted wasn't available. Overall experience I had to replace my HVAC in a 2-unit home. Jason fixed previous ductwork inefficiency and suggest a larger unit along with another return vent as required for the larger unit. Other contractors recommended against a larger unit because it's too much work to create another return vent and none bring up the ductwork problem. All their staffs were just as knowledgeable as Jason and always responded back on the same day, even on the weekend. Service Jason did a very thorough evaluation of my situation. He's not interested in just replacing the unit, but to make sure I fix some of the mishaps from the previous installer. He provided an estimate right away and even include another return vent that no other contractors want to do. His staff kept me in the loop during the whole process. During the installation and the 1st 2 years of maintenance, there are always two technicians. In the last maintenance, I was made aware that I had mold built-up in the duct. Hopefully, with regular maintenance, this is under control. Price I've got 7 quotes to replace my HVAC. This is the best quote for a high-quality, larger unit, a new return vent, and replacing some of the previous ductwork. The staff was all knowledgeable and transparent in their recommendations. read more

2nd time using this company and they have saved me again! My air went out last night and I called first thing this morning. They had an opening and would be able to come out today! Their work was quick and fair priced and now I'm basking in a cooling house. Shout out to Chris E. for his excellent service! Will definitely call you guys when it's time to replace the whole unit. read more

I needed a plumber to fix a problem with my dishwasher/kitchen sink/garbage disposal. I had a video of water leaking out of the bottom cabinet from the garbage disposal electrical box while the dishwasher was running. The plumber ran the dishwasher in a quick cycle s few times, tightened a few screws and then charged me $204.00 for all of 20 minutes of work. What a rip off and the problem is still not fixed. I believe he didn't want to take the time to fix it, he put in minimal effort so he could charge me more money. It went from $99 to $204 because he used tools....all he used was a flashlight and a screw driver. Waste of my time and money read more

I called Short Pump Heating & Air and could not be more pleased. Not only did I get prompt service but the electrician kept me informed and educated all the time for the several small projects i desperately needed done AND for a great price. AWESOME JOB! On a side note i initially tried Home advisor and they not only cancel on me 3 times , they still have yet to refund me what they billed me so don't call home-advisor for your electrical or heating needs,, call Short Pump Heating and Air. read more

They are more expensive than some others but the value and professionalism outweighs the cost. I had a weekend hvac emergency and I called their oncall and left a voicemail. To my surprise the oncall retry call and was like "I can be there in 30 mins". Granted you have to pay an oncall fee but the tech replaced the compressor within 30mins. read more

This company was very good. Their reaponse time was fast. The rep that I spoke with answered all my questions and addressed some issues that I had. The tech that came out was professional and respectful. Overall, a great experience. read more

Well I was scared I would not get good service when F.H. Furr came into the picture. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I needed an electrician..and I got one...the BEST one ever. His name is Matt and he works with BREMAC. So you see three different names here all trading under F H Furr..(yep and unusual name) but I am here to say the service is awesome. I got Matt the electrician and I will not be trading him in. He is the BEST, clean, neat, conscientious, great personality! He does the job right the first time...he is so good ..you start to realize this is a guy you can just let go to do the job and not worry that he will create a job. Sorry to say one thing I say all the time about service technicians in any field...they do a job and create a job. Well no more this guy MATT does the job, its perfect, and there are no worries FINALLY!!! THANK YOU F. H. FURR I heard from a new trainee that you hire only the best..well MATT is the best and it appears the new guy will be one of those BEST guys as well...so thank you for looking out for me and sending guys I can trust to get the job done. It means so much to me to TRUST your company through the actions of your employees...MATT is number 1 in my book. read more

Short Pump Heading & Air is not transparent in their services when new clients seek to have work done. They charge a minimum $99.00 "truck fee" to have someone come to your home for an evaluation even if no work is completed. This fee is not deducted should you agree to have work done. This "truck fee" is not disclosed by their office assistants that book appointments nor by the technicians prior to their arrival. This information is not readily available on their website either. I am very disappointed by this manipulative business practice and will ensure to spread this information to all of my network within this area. I would recommend going with other local vendors within the area that provide transparent evaluations and quality service. read more

Technician Daniel Metcalf came out and performed the Gold Service Maintenance on our 3 Heat Pumps and also installed a Ryan Lancaster recommended UV light in our main floor HVAC and we are thrilled with the results. Odors are eliminated promptly and the dust is next to ZERO. I highly recommend this company for all of your HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical needs. read more

Worst h vac contractor. Purchased a new 14000 dollar system. It did not last a year. They did not stand behind their product. Bryant high efficiency. Got james river air to replace the entire system and james river air gave a 10 year warranty. Short pump is totally worthless and will leave you hanging. Avoid. read more

I had a new thermostat installed, plus cleaning and maintenance to my old heating system. Everything was done efficiently. The technician spent quite a long time and a lot of effort on the cleaning, then offered helpful advice on the system. I have no way to compare the price, but it didn't seem unreasonable. I will use their services in the future. read more

I had a contract with Short Pump Heating and Air to service my HVAC system on a yearly basis. My contract was unilaterally cancelled by them without notifying me because my air conditioner needed to be serviced from the roof. I understand that they might need to cancel the policy, but not having the professional courtesy to let me know was unacceptable. This is in response to Matt's comment. The problem is that you did not bother to tell me that you were not renewing the contract..no phone call, no email, no text message, nothing. It was a unilateral decision taken without informing me. The fact that you did not renew the contract was not the issue, and not the reason I gave you a one star rating. read more

Called short pump on Christmas Day last year because my water heater died at THE WORST POSSIBLE TIME!! The plumber from Short pump arrived 45 min after I called. Not bad for Christmas morning. He was the nicest guy and walked me thru a few options including (to my surprise) putting in a new heater the next day, which was awesome because I had family in town. I agreed and he returned the next day and installed the heater and I haven't had a problem since. I called them the other day when my A/C was blowing hot air and they fit me in same day. The tech that arrived was extremely helpful, clean cut and seemed knowledgeable. He did a awesome job and had us "chilling" in no time. I highly recommend these guys and want to say thanks again! Keep up the good work! read more

These guys always come through for me. Whether it is a plumbing job or A/C or something electrical they have always been there for me. I have had them to my home at least 6 times in the last two years since we purchased our home. Each visit has always been a pleasure to see them quickly and accurately diagnose the issues. Highly recommend and sign up for the annual maintenance plan! Worth it when your A/C fails on the weekends. read more

Short Pump Heating and Air did an outstanding job last year and again this year. In 2020 they replaced my old ac unit with a very efficient HP and were very professional and efficient in making sure it worked perfectly before leaving. In 2021, my 11 year old gas water heater basically only supplied luke warm water and after struggling with it for a week trying to troubleshoot and get it working myself, it just stopped working. I contacted them at 9:30 am and by 3 pm we had a new gas hot water heater that far surpassed my old heater. I can't recommend them high enough for excellent service and very professional technicians. read more

Last weekend our Power Vent Hot Water heater failed. I was able to reach this company on Saturday, the Master Plumber, Jeff, took down our data. When the supplier opened on Monday morning, Jeff was over removed the old heater, processed our warranty claim (installed by "others") and was back with the new heater and did an impeccable job of installing the new heater. He cleaned all of the installation debris away, did a very neat job and could not have been nicer. They took care of filing the warranty claim, they were competitive on price and I can't say enough about the complete process. This is a top shelf company and Jeff Flynn, their Master Plumber is EXCELLENT read more

Short Pump Heating & Air - Very neat work, cleaned up all cartons, etc and could not have been more polite and neat with his work. - Plumbing Near Me - Richmond, Virginia

It was one of the hottest days of the year and also the biggest party of the year at our home. Yup the AC went on the fritz about 4 hours before the company came. I was able to explain to Ryan the crisis mode I was in - on a Saturday no less - and he said they'd do a little rearranging to try and help out. The party began at 4 and at 3:48 we had nice cool air! Kyle was professional and courteous. Great job at a reasonable price by a great company!!!! read more

Recently called with a request to have a ductless heat/air installed. Quick response and awesome service and this system rocks!! Of note, one of the things that truly made me feel great about this company was that on the day they were here it rained and one of the installers came to my door and before going any further pulled out his pocket and put on a pair of shoe covers to keep my floor dry. Wow ! I'm old school and believe that true customer service can be what will always keep a company like this on top. Would give 10 stars if it were an option. read more

We recently purchased and had installed a Mitsubishi split system to better heat and cool our large bedroom and bath over our garage. The team installing was Chris, Ryan and James with Short Pump Heating and Air. The workmanship was excellent and installers most professional. They were very articulate with the installation and used drop cloths to protect our stairway and floors. This company is a diamond contractor certified by Mitsubishi. I highly recommend them. The owner, Ryan Lancaster, designed the installation and followed through in making sure everything was done according to his plans and we were completely satisfied. We were so pleased we purchased a service contract through them on our other two York units. Ryan is extremely knowledgeable. Great company! Oh, the unit has fully met our expectations. Love it. read more

My hot water heater sort of exploded when a technician touched a valve. Two months prior someone from the same company looked at it and suggested a few minor things I could do to help a leak but did not suggest replacing it. The day it exploded hot water went everywhere, the technician was only worried about his tools getting wet, and tracked water all over the house. I heard him on the phone with his boss being very defensive about the situation. He called in his plumber without my authorization. When I immediately called the company about the situation the owner never apologized, and was extremely condescending, actually yelling at ME. Will never use their services again. read more

I tried to pinch pennies and have my handyman buddy look at my HVAC unit. He didn't have the correct equipment on one visit, couldn't find the problem on another visit. Meanwhile, my auxiliary heat was costing me a fortune. Finally fed up, I called Ryan at Short Pump Heating & Air. They had Josh out THAT DAY, and found the issue within minutes. I'm fixed, up and running and toasty as I can be. I highly recommend Short Pump and if he's available I would ask for Josh as my tech. Friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and gets things done. And was able to pay with credit card on the spot, another added benefit for me. Easiest 5 star I've ever given. read more

Best HVAC company ever! Never met better technicians who spend time explaining every thing in great detail. We had to replace our upstairs unit and the guys where so clean and the job looked professional! We did have a problem with a certain part that was being recalled, the technician explained everything to me that I totally understood and they took care of it free and clear. Even had a professional handy man fix the ceiling. I have never seen a better company that takes time with their customers! All our neighbors use them!!! Never again will I use an HVAC company I see on the tv! read more

What a great experience. We've been dealing with HVAC issues for a while now and we finally decided to replace our system. The folks at Short Pump Heating & Air came out the same day I called to give me a quote. Not only was the price great (most affordable I've found in Richmond) but the installation went off without a hitch. I was honestly shocked when the installation mechanics told me they were done. In and out, it was no more than 4hrs for a complete changeover with a new return duct. If you're looking for an HVAC company to work with look no further. read more
