Shortly after leaving this review I was contacted by the owner of Advanced Plumbing. I'm changing my review because of their amazing customer service and their dedication to their customers being happy. He explained to me how my service was guaranteed for a year and that they'd gladly come by to replace my toilet for the new one of purchased at no cost. They showed up on time, kept me updated throughout the day and finished the job quickly. Now I have a new functioning toilet so thank you! Re-update They misquoted me on the replacement of the 2nd toilet which I had them do at the same time as the other I had issues with. (told me it would be $120-130 and the other one was free of charge) and now charging me $248. Also the bathroom smells SO BAD now. It smells like sewer water. read more

do yourself a favor and steer clear of this company! not only does the never answer the phone but they tried to rack up charges on you that are unnecessary and will ignore your questions and calls intentionally so that they can continue to add late fees to your bill. Apart from that, they have absolutely no idea what they're doing and the owner , justin , has absolutely no idea how to run his company. They will have to come back five times to fix the same issue because they don't take enough time or care to fix it right the first time and they overcharge you crazy amounts!! WORST RAN COMPANY IVE EVER SEEN. All they care about is how much they can get out of you.. sad. read more

We contacted Advanced Plumbing due to a sewage smell in our basement. They arrived 2 hours late, after they called me multiple times to confirm the appointment window, but never called to indicate they would be +2 hours after the appointment time. They quickly identified the smell was a dry drain and had me pour water into it. They spent less than 5 minutes in my home. This cost me $190.00. - $120 for labor (???), $60 for the trip, and $10 for supplies. $190.00 for a plumber to be +2hrs late, spend 5 minutes in my house, and for me to put water down my drain. They didn't even take a tool out of their truck. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY. read more

The guy who came out to give me an estimate was very professional and informative. He gave me some ballpark numbers that seemed fair and said he would email me an estimate with breakdowns for a couple different things I needed done. I never got an estimate. I called to check on it a week or so later and he sent over a huge price for one minor part of the job, promising the rest soon. That small piece was something I needed urgently, so I had already done it myself by that time using less than $20 worth of parts from Lowe's. His estimate was $650. I planned to go with this company for replacing the older copper piping but I guess they are too busy to take on any customers. Edit: Regarding your response, I'm not sure which part of my review you deemed inaccurate. If your notes "clearly" state that this work was for future consideration then you didn't take clear notes, as only the half bath was for future. This complaint about Covid after the fact as an excuse for not responding is odd and also not accurate. read more

Advanced was recommended by a trusted friend who has worked as a plumber in the past. Their service lives up to the recommendation better than I had hoped. The job I had for them was pretty significant, but not an emergency. Ahmad came out within a couple of days to assess what needed to be done and Patrick and his assistant came out to complete the repairs a week or so later. They finished the job quickly with quality workmanship and the invoice came in far less than the quote I had received. I spoke with Justin, the owner, several times and he was a delight to talk to and work with. Advanced Plumbing LLC is a top notch company with top notch people. Highly recommended! read more

Edit: Responding to the owners condescending response, I am very sure that I used Advanced Plumbing in Richmond, VA. I am not in the database, since it was another household member who made the initial call. I will not be calling back to be harassed again by this company. I will not remove my review. After seeing others comments of being scammed/overcharged by this company on another social media site, I'm leaving a review from work about a year ago in hopes it may warn others from making the same mistake. Advanced Plumbing showed up hours late and charged ridiculous diagnostic fees and ultimately unable to diagnose my problem. I hired another plumber that was able to immediately solve my issue and cost a quarter of the fee of Advanced Plumbing's "diagnostics". Advanced Plumbing sent their bill by email but required payment over the phone. Despite numerous attempts of calling over a two week period, I was not able to get through to their line ( all during business hours) although I left voicemails requesting callback for payment. I was eventually called back the same day after I left ANOTHER voicemail and they insinuated they were transferring my account to collections due to lack of payment. Ridiculous. I paid immediately. At one point they may have had integrity but if you sort by newest on Yelp, you'll see only reviews similar to mine. I would avoid this company. read more

This has to be one of the best experiences I've had with any sort of home service company so far. My shower water pressure was low and I called a few other companies first but none were as friendly and customer service oriented as Advanced Plumbing. The woman from the office called and said they were running late at the time they were supposed to arrive, but these things happen. When they did show up they were nothing but professional and courteous. They took the time to answer my many questions, Eric was respectful when removing items from the shower, and when done asked if they could fix anything else. Thankfully it was a simple fix and the shower is working great now. I recommend them strongly! read more

I am writing this review due my terrible experience with Advanced Plumbing. I called Advanced Plumbing to come and service my hot water heater. It was not providing enough hot water. I had lived in the house for a few years and had never had an issue with the water heater. The technician said that the water heater needed rebuilt. After he rebuilt it, I had hot water. I paid the invoice of $651.00. The next day I was walking through the garage to go to work and I noticed water leaking out of the water heater. I took a picture and sent it along with an email to Advanced Plumbing. The responder said that she would talk to the technician. She wrote me back and said that the hot water heater was already like that so it was a preexisting condition and that they would charge me a $60.00 trip charge as well as the cost to fix the water heater. Obviously this was insane. I went back and forth with them for a few weeks and they were uncompromising. I decided to call another plumbing company. The technician from the new company inspected the water tank and said that it needed replaced. I told him about the previous service from Advanced Plumbing and he said that it should have never been rebuilt because the bottom was starting to rust. His view was that they were either incompetent or wanted to make more of a profit by rebuilding the water heater. Due to how they had treated me I went with the latter. I paid for the new water heater and sent correspondence to Advanced Plumbing telling them what had occurred. They were uninterested and declined to offer me any type of relief or compensation. I am writing this review in the hopes of warning other potential customers. I never have a problem paying a fair price for services but it really bothers me to be ripped off and taken advantage of. I feel like Advanced Plumbing stole from me. In case anyone from Advanced Plumbing replies and says that I am referencing another Advanced Plumbing (as I have seen in responses to other complaints) this is the Advanced Plumbing located at: 5324 Distributor Dr. Richmond, VA 23225. read more

I have not always had great experiences with contractors, so I tend to be too thorough and am probably a pain to work with, which is why I do not hand out five star ratings lightly. This company repaired a sewer line with tree root intrusion - 6 feet underground in my yard. They jumped through a few extra hoops to work around rainy weather, did the repair professionally at a reasonable price, and were willing to answer all my questions without getting snarky. I recommend them. read more

After some plumbing issues in our building, the HOA mandated a "plumbing inspection" all each condo. They also set up a plumbing company to do these for $75 but we decided to call our own plumber both because we wanted a more objective assessment and our garbage disposal was broken. I found Advanced Plumbing both here and on the web and we had them come out to do the inspection, replace a toilet flapper and repair our garbage disposal. The technician that came out (I believe his name was Bruce... I'm certain it started with the letter B) was friendly, efficient, on-time (actually he was early), and thorough. He did the inspection and both repairs in under an hour. Also, they actually charged us the same rate they told us over the phone when we scheduled and after being so tired of people who change their estimate, etc. after the fact, it was refreshing. I would not hesitate to choose them again or recommend them to others. read more

I recently bought a house and wanted a gas line put in so that I could install a gas stove. Being gas I wanted everything done right and safely. So I found the highest rated plumber on Yelp - Advanced Plumbing. The guys were friendly and they went above and beyond to match appointments to my work schedule. The price came in exactly where I was expecting and what was quoted. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a plumber. I love my new gas stove - no more electric for me! read more

My contractor had used them before as he knew the owner, Justin White. With my contractor on site and helping a good job was done. So when I stopped having hot water I called them. I look back now and wonder if it wasn't just an element that needed replacing instead of my entire water heater. I should have checked myself. I trusted them, but then I trusted my old contractor and he started doing a bad job during the pandemic, damaged my home more, did things wrong, didn't check a problem, and walked out leaving me with more problems. I have known him for a long time. So I really don't know if I should have trusted Advanced Plumbing, after all, they did wrong. It took them 4-5 times to come out to get a new water heater installed right. The office girl even tried to blame me for one of their mistakes. I would not use them again. What a frustrating experience. If I had not stood my ground then I would have had more problems to deal with as they had the pipes installed wrong. If the hot water tank had ever leaked it would have done more damage to my home. I don't know what is wrong with all these contractors. They are getting paid a great price for their labor and all the parts that skyrocketed in price these last few years. Times are hard enough. Consumers don't need to be scammed and charged more than necessary. read more

Amazing company... Best customer service I've ever encountered. Very easy to work with and schedule. Very accommodating. More then prompt. They made me their priority with out any extra cost or fees. Amazing service. Took care of my needs with great detail and explanation. Got the job finished and didn't try to take their time to increase their fees. I'm very excited to share how much I enjoyed this experience. I Would highly recommend advanced plumbing to anyone and everyone!!! read more

Just had a plumber come to troubleshoot my Rheem tankless water heater. On time! But go figure, of course, my unit works fine when he comes out! He inspected everything, called Rheem and the local distributor, did some diagnostics and checked the gas lines around and inside the house. He did somethings above and beyond than just looking at my water heater. This has been one of the best experiences we've had with a plumber. Trustworthy! Also turns out he was the owner. Thanks Justin! I'm calling them from now on. read more

I've used a few different plumbing companies and Advanced Plumbing has been the best. They've installed lever shut offs for all my outdoor spigots, unclogged a bathroom tub as well as installed a basement sink. They are honest and take the time to answer questions. It took 3 visits to fix a toilet that would not stop running. Each visit, the plumber stayed about 10-15 minutes, replacing minor inexpensive parts (flapper) each time. I was told I was only charged for one visit. The office manager called a week later to say she was charging me twice, totaling nearly $400 for a running toilet that could have been replaced for that amount. Plumber and assistant were not wearing masks until I asked them to put them on. Unsafe, unprofessional, poor workmanship. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Advanced Plumbing, they seriously are the best quality plumbing crew in Richmond. We had them run gas work for our kitchen remodeling, and they were prompt, friendly, professional and most of all, approachable. Justin and Mike were more than willing to explain the behind-the-scenes action of what and why they were doing things a specific way, which I found extremely helpful as a first-time homebuyer. When we couldn't be home for an inspection from the city during the middle of the workday, they offered to show the inspector the house as long as we left a key for them. We even called Justin on a weekend with a quick question, and he answered his phone, ready to help us out. Can you believe that? I would recommend them to anyone and everyone who needs some plumbing work done. i'm such a big fan, I think I need one of their t-shirts. read more

Called in the morning, and a technician was at the house that same afternoon. Great customer service!

Sewage backup this morning ruining my weekend. Called Advanced Plumbing and Justin came out right away (within an hour). He could have just unclogged the main line and left which apparently has been done before according to my landlord. But he went the extra mile to find the root cause and fix it. He used every trick in the book and worked until his arms and fingers were literally cramping up. Then he drank some Gatorade and went right back into it. He finally had to dig up the main line in the front yard (in the rain) and remove the source of the clogs. The culprit? Poor construction - there was actually a piece of pipe inside the main drain that was left there when the house was built. He even hosed the driveway and wiped down as much as he could before he left. read more

Justin and his crew are really great at what they do---these guys are perfectionists. I hate to recommend them because now they're too busy for me! But the quality is top notch and they are super nice guys. You can't go wrong calling the Turd Herders. read more

I had gotten two previous estimates for my plumbing issues (toilet replacements, and sink fixture replacements) prior to calling Advanced Plumbing. Those experiences left me really nervous about getting the work done because they both indicated that they "really couldn't tell what might happen once they got into the floor". I kept putting it off, and finally I called Advanced one day just because I had seen their trucks around. I spoke directly with Justin, the President of the Company and he arranged to come and do the estimate the very next week. He was very reassuring and indicated that there would be no charge for the estimate. He was thorough and professional when he came to do the estimate, and did not seem to think that the replacements would be anything other than routine. And though I am aware that things can be discovered during routine work that may cause the price to go up, it was reassuring to hear that, rather than expecting something awful to happen. The day that the plumber came to do the installations everything went smoothly; there was one small glitch that was unforeseen, but easily corrected, and no extra costs. And as it turns out, the work was done for a good bit less than what the other companies estimated. I have been so happy with the work and also reassured to know that I have someone I can trust to call if plumbing issues arise in the future. One other thing that may seem small, but meant a lot to me; they went out of their way to be kind and reassuring to my dog, who can get nervous when strange people come into the house. read more

I can't say enough about the professionalism, responsiveness, and knowledge base of these folks. They far and away blow away any plumbing experience I've had in Richmond to date and I've been here since 2005. They are the way all trade businesses should be but somehow or other fall short. read more

They used to be the best service and a very reasonable price. Over the last few years they have added on extra fees and much higher prices. I ha e used them for at least 5 plumbing project and one ac issue. Most recently I asked for a quote for a residential repair of a bath room sink pipe. The quote was for $3,500, I got a 2nd quote with the same scope of work competed for $750. Shop around is the lesson. read more

Setting up an appointment was easy and the technicians arrived on time and did the job in only 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the minimum charge is $180 including $120 for an hour of labor plus a $60 "diagnostic fee". I will no longer use this company because of their pricing policy. read more

Advanced came out to address a toilet that wasn't flushing completely. They ultimately addressed the problem, but it took them two visits to diagnose the issue, which was a faulty toilet. I am not an expert on what causes slow flushing so I was relying on them. They ended up fixing the problem and replacing the toilet, but the invoice was more than what was quoted, and I was not notified when the work was completed. I would suggest in the future that Advance call their customers when the work is completed, and if the work comes in more than quoted, explain why. Nevertheless, I would use Advanced again as they were helpful and Michael was polite and informative. read more

Chose these guys because of Yelp. Super satisfied. Had an old sink that was clogged that took a lot of work; the smart, friendly and great communicator of a plumber told me my options along the way and got it working again. Couldn't be more pleased! read more

I have used these guys based on the reviews on yelp and I have to say I am 100% satisfied. They are very courteous, very professional, and the prices are very reasonable. They do not sell you things you do not need and are always quick despite their busy schedule to get out to you and make you feel like you are a priority. I have been using them for various projects over the past 6 months and have yet to be disappointed, we even had one emergency that they had completed and cleaned up within hours the same day. We use them exclusively at my work, and highly recommend them. read more

They just left the house after a quick, perfect repair job. My old cast iron pipe had split along the seam. Moe did the work, cutting out the old damaged pipe and neatly replacing it along the bad section. They scheduled the appointment quickly, showed up EARLY and knocked the job right out for a surprisingly low price. Their Yelp reviews were outstanding and now I understand why! Will use them going forward. read more

I used the really like this company you paid for what you got a reasonable price for a good plumber. Now you get a good plumber for and unreasonable price and they don't mention it when you set up an appointment. The tech was in my house for 10 min was able to correct the problem but they billed me nearly 200 dollars. When I mentioned that was higher than I had been quoted they dropped a tech fee was added along with 1 hour min service call. After saying that's now how it was presented the OWNER got on the phone and called me a liar. Great business model. We have 4 rentals and will no longer be using them. It's a shame when a good company gets driven into the ground by incompetence. read more

I have used Advanced for a number of years. They have done good work. This last trip I was billed $340 for putting a $40 bracket at the bottom of a toilet to keep it from moving. I had also asked them to fix a sticking flapper. That wasn't done. At $120 per hour and a $60 "trip" fee I think they should do what I ask them to do. When I expressed my disappointment to the person answering the phone about their high rates - she said they were the cheapest in town. I've checked a few an they are not the cheapest in town by a long shot. So I guess for the work they do they do good work and it's expensive. read more

I cannot thank the team from Advanced Plumbing enough. I just moved to the area and bought an old, but renovated home. In the process of moving in, I found I needed a small plumbing repair job done. I called Advanced, made the appointment and Eric showed up - early (having called first). He was smart, polite and effective. That alone would have gotten them 5 stars. BUT THEN - later in the day - totally unrelated to the work they did, I had a pipe burst (did I mention "old" home....). Eric, Nick and Justin all showed up - very fast. They fixed my problem. I hope I have no more emergencies - but if I do - I'm calling this team. Well done. read more

I was having issues with the pilot on my hot water heater staying lit. After reading several reviews and making several calls I decided to go with Advanced Plumbing. The receptionist was very friendly and put me in contact with Mike who was genuinely concerned about resolving my problem. Mike was able to arrange for OJ, a very knowledgeable technician, to come out that day and assess the issue. OJ was able to quickly determine the issue, which turned out to be a dirty filter that was suffocating the pilot, and even instruct me how to clean it myself. I highly recommend Advanced Plumbing for their honesty, integrity and professionalism and know who I will be calling for my future plumbing needs. read more
