Very rude ladies here. Went to get my hell nails removed but because their manager "never saw me before" because she supposedly can remember every customer she's ever seen they threw a fit and sat and talked trash right in front of me. I told them I can just go somewhere else if my service is not appreciated. The girl continued to take my nails off and this was the final product. At check out she goes "it's $10 but I'll charge you $7" even when returning customers are charged $5. LMAO!! These ladies are a joke. Been here three times. First time got my nails done for Bruno Mars concert. In all honesty, I don't EVER get my nails done. This was the first time so I was a bit green.Had pics of what I wanted. The guy prepped my nails and Kim did the design. While it wasn't exactly the same b/c she recommended changes to make it last I was still happy. Total was about $80. Went back for a fill and again the guy prepped my nails but this time the young girl did the design. It came out atrocious. They were misshapen, not completely painted and had little bumps throughout the nail. I'm assuming its b/c she was distracted by the show she was watching on her phone while trying to doy nails (or the phone calls she was making). It came out to about $40 or $45. Now about 2 weeks later one of the nails broke without me bumping it or doing anything rough. Kim does an excellent job. The guy is good. But under no circumstance should you let the young girl touch your nails. After my initial visit I went in the next day with my mom for pedis. We each got the collegian for $40(I believe). I got gel polish for a little extra and my mom got reg. My mom had the guy I had the young girl. At the end of mine I still had rough and uneven nonbuffed skin that I smoothed put when I got home. The young girl it seems just can't be bothered to be attentive and do a good job. I'm only going back to get these removed then I won't return. Gave 3 stars b/c of kim but really I feel more like it should be 2.5. Have to go to a job interview in CA with messed up nails. Professional. She great at waxing and just EVERYTHING. She is talented. She also amazes me that she remembers EVERYONE!! She has a large selection of services and the prices are very reasonable. I didn't expect much when I walked into this place. I am usually not a fan of VIP nail places- I hate how so many of those places smell like acrylics. But i guess that is what I should be expecting down here in Texas. ;) lol. Anyway, I went to get a pedicure and my eyebrows threaded. I have had a hard time finding a place in Austin that does threading except places that charge $20+, which is ridiculous! This place charges $10 and Kim did a good job. My one complaint- she took a lot off. I have never had such thin eyebrows as I do now! I am not sure if I like them this thin or not, but if you are worried about them taking too much off, just tell them to go easy on it, and you should be fine. My pedicure was really good! Their chairs are very new and clean looking (and the massager actually worked, which unfortunately is never a given anymore). Ting (I believe is her name) really scrubbed my feet to get off all the dead skin. It is such a huge pet peave of mine when they spend like 1 minute or less on each foot. I like when they really try and get your feet as smooth as possible, and she really did! The pedicure was relaxing, effective and the polish looks great! Also, you get a frequent shopper card when you go. Every 6 times you go, they give you 25% off your next service. Nice perk! I am glad I looked beyond my preconceived ideas and walked in. I heard about this place from a good friend of mine who has being going there for a while and recommends it for pedicures and for eyebrow threading. She said that she found this great place next to the Fiesta supermarket and I thought that she meant the Fiesta near 38th because that was the one that I was familiar with. I had no idea that the Albertson's down south in this shopping center was changed into a Fiesta. The shop is tiny and unassuming and easy to miss unless you are looking for it. It says VIP on the glass door but the actual sign doesn't. It faces Stassney and is to the left of the Fiesta store in the little strip. My friend and I walk in after grabbing happy hour sushi at Umi around the corner and feel bad since their posting closing time said 7:30 and it was 7:10 when we walk in. They ask what we are there for and we say pedicures. They said that it would be about 20 minutes so we sign the sheet and then go next door to Fiesta and shop and when we get back, we pick out our colors and are seated at the massaging chair foot/spa tubs combo thingies. (They have at least five or six). We decide to go with the deluxe pedicure which is only $35 and includes a foot/leg massage and removal of dead skin, etc. The deluxe comes in the clay/peppermint mask that they put on your legs and feet and then wrap each of them in a warm towel. It was divine and worth every penny! This was only my third pedicure ever and I think that Kim did an awesome job. I never felt rushed or hurried even though it was after closing time. Turns out that Kim has worked there for about 7 years and she does know what she is doing. I walked out of there with beautiful aqua toenails that I am super happy with. The regular spa pedicure is $25 which is very reasonable and we were there for over an hour. Prices are posted on the wall right by the front counter near the door. I believe that eyebrow threading is now $13 and lip threading is $10. Those sound like very reasonable prices to me. I highly recommend this place for pedicures and want to come back to try out the threading. read more

I was extremely disappointed with this place. When I first arrived, I was told to pick a color and someone would be with me shortly. They never told me the wait time was an hour long. They had a very small selection of colors to choose from and the place was not that clean. It was also very hot and humid in the salon. By the time it was finally my turn, I did not have enough time to get the gel manicure that I had originally gone in for. I let the lady that I only had enough time to remove the gel that was on my nails. She was not happy about this. Instead of taking her time to soak off the gel, she used the drimmel tool on my nails. She was so rough that she broke two of my nails with the machine. While she was vigorously filing my nails, she knocked over an entire cup of water on to my lap. I was now soaking wet, late for my next appointment, and without color on my now broken nails. She did not apologize and still charged me to remove my color. I will not be back to this nail salon and I encourage you to stay away!! read more

After leaving Tara's in a laughing fit when I heard the price she quoted me, I found this lovely establishment to get my eyebrows did for a reasonable price. I was even more nervous when reading reviews about this place being unhygenic and the lady taking too much off but I told her what I wanted and she did a great job. I didn't time my visit very well because I sat in an hour of I35 traffic afterwards but that was fine because I was just happy that my eyebrows were still intact. read more

I have been getting my eyebrows threaded for five or six years now, and every time it has been by an Indian woman... Sooo, that being said, I was definitely a little nervous when I walked in here to see an Asian woman. I have never read reviews prior to getting my eyebrows done at a new place, since in all of these years I have been getting them done I have never had a bad experience. Well I guess I learned my lesson! My eyebrows are by far the thinnest they have ever been, have gaps in them and are far apart. VIP Nails on Stassney is by far the best nail salon I have been to - ever. Kim is an amazing nail enhancer (my term for nail technician) who can make magic appear at the end of your hands or toes. About 7 years ago I decided to do solar nails and after doing the 'Goldie locks' hop scotch of nail salons I found Kim. What a wonderful addition to my life! I don't think I've ever had the itch to write a review, neither positive nor negative. Because I've never encountered anything terrible enough or amazing enough to comment about. However, after visiting VIP today, I was so impressed I felt that folks needed to hear about an absolutely stellar business. I've gotten my shellac done at dozens of places here in Austin, traveling to the higher income bracket neighborhoods to visiting cheaper strip malls in a search for an expensive and quality manicure. The best I could find was a hurried and loveless manicure that was only sufficient with a lackluster massage for $40. That was better than most places that couldn't give me proper french nail tips. The lines were always off and varied in thickness and there were always bubbles. So, I read the reviews and called to ask about pricing and a very sweet girl informed me that my french shellac would only cost me $26. Of course, I hesitated and thought the price would also indicate the quality. I made an appointment anyhow and then was told I could get the pedicure added for a total of $48. I went for it. This charming and sweet girl took total care of me. She spent a lot of time on both my feet and nails ( I know some of you want to be in and out, but hell it's a spa and I want to enjoy my time). I relaxed quietly ( it is quiet in there) and let her work and the results were nothing less than perfect. Absolutely the best work I've had done. Seriously: Shellac for $26. I visited VIP nails yesterday and had a pretty terrible experience. This was the first time I've done something nice for myself since my daughter was born 5 months ago so it meant something to me. First off, the tech who did my pedicure obviously didn't know what she was doing. Two other techs kept coming up and overseeing her to make sure she knew what she was not messing anything up. She forgot to clip my toenails on my right foot!??? I noticed after they had already been polished and asked that they be clipped. She clipped and filed them and put clear coat over them without even fixing the Polish that had obviously been clipped and filed off the nail. I had a design painted on my big toenails that were messed up done by another tech because the tech that did my pedicure didn't know how to do it. The man who did it didn't either apparently. It's already been over an hour so I just let that go because I still need a full set and eyebrow wax. The man who did my full set grinded my skin off on 5 of my fingers. I told h o was bleeding and he didn't even stop to sanitize my wounds. He tried to put oil on it! I have mishapen acrylics too. The glitter on my index finger is extremely thick, uneven and rough to the touch. The woman who waxed my eyebrows who I assume was the owner noticed that I was unhappy and fixed my big toenails after everything had already happened. I was there for almost 3 hours! Their sanitation practices are questionable at best. I will never be going back there and I urge others to heed my warning. My fingers are do sore today and look just awful! read more

While I felt like the woman painting my nails did an ok job - I got the sense that the utensils hadn't been sanitized. They were pulled from her drawer and not out of a sterilization container. I paid quite a bit for a gel mani/pedi that came off in less than a week. It needed at least another coat or two to let it thicken up. The nail stations are in a big need of updating - they felt like old desks out of an office. Maybe my critique is a bit harsh but the whole experience felt blah. While I was there - the owner or manager came in pushing a cart full of groceries from fiesta that were obviously not for the store. There was no music... the only other lady who was getting her nails done sat quietly and the place was super quiet (with the exception of the banging on the wall from the business next door to which both nail techs laughed). Owner - do yourself a favor..... put up the prices, update your spa, and add some music to the environment and I bet you'd get more clientele. My picture below is day 6. read more

I came to VIP to get an eyebrow threading. My sister recommended this place as a good alternative to the more expensive threading places (i.e. Tara's). It was just okay. The lady who did my eyebrows was super friendly. She did however take a little more off than I had hoped, but overall it was a decent job. The threading was $13. I do however have some concerns about sanitation. I had to lay down on a table covered in towels that looked less than clean. It freaked me out a little to see long black hairs from previous clients. They probably would have received a full 5 stars from me if the towels had been clean. read more

Worst service! So I decided to visit this place last minute because it was the closest to me while I was running an errand. I walked into a ghost town of a salon with all the employees on the pedicure chairs without their shoes on. The man with long hair and glasses who did my nails cut me maybe 4 times and never apologized. After reading the other reviews of a male worker cutting people over and over to the point of bleeding you think he would learn to do his job a little better. He then proceeded to shape my nails so weird and different from one another. After asking him to fix multiple things I was so ready to be out of there. The cherry on top of the cake was him burning my skin with the UV lights because he put the polish on the skin on the side of my nail. Needless to say I will never go back and this place is a joke. My mistake, you get what you pay for I guess. Still left a $3 tip because I'm an idiot. I've decided the V.I.P of this place stands for Very injury prone. Stay away. read more

I am a Texas newbie so I haven't learned my way around yet. I rely heavily on Yelp for the best places to go. When I walked into this place my eyebrows were a mess. When I left they were a bigger mess. I've never had my eyebrows threaded so when the technician asked if I wanted it for 13 bucks. I thought why not? My eyebrows are uneven. They do not look good at all. She was alternating between threading and plucking. I gave two stars only because they are nice ladies and I was able to fix it. Overall this was a pretty lousy job and that back room they take you to doesn't seem all that sanitary. I will never go back to this place. Update: It's been a few days since I've been here and I've begin to notice scabs under my eyebrow. I believe she was threading my skin, I am so upset. read more

No appt needed, walkins always welcome, the ladies of VIP are always there...7 days a week. I have gotten spa pedicures there for a couple of years now, and even talked my husband into them as well. They turned a "normal" guy into a metrosexual. He adores them. If you need a full set put on....go to Kim. She is my fave. For toes, see KC or Cindy, they are the best in my opinion, but the rest of the girls seem to be pretty dang good as well. The price is the same as any other mani/pedi place around town. Gross, gross, GROSS. It should be noted that this is my first "negative" review posting. I usually go with the Live and Let Live motto but WEEKS after I went for a lip threading, I feel compelled to write. First of all the place is dirty. Second, after they determined I wanted to have my lip threaded (instead of waxed) I was ushered to a backroom that had the typical beauty-shop-table in it... Without the sanitary paper covering that EVERY OTHER THREADING OR WAXING SALON PROVIDES... I was instructed to lay down. I did but only because I was fully clothed. But I was still skeeved out. I mean, do they do bikini waxes without the sanitary disposable paper? My guess is: YES. Anyhow, after doing a lame job of threading (I think the girl just learned how) she asked if I wanted my eyebrows done too. They had just been waxed the day before and though they were there (as in not penciled in) anyone with ANY beauty "experience" would have noticed they were recently if not impeccably groomed. I declined her offer to charge me NYC pricing to "thread" my already groomed eyebrows. She then ran out of the room (??) and came back a full minute or two later with some powder that she was going to throw on my upper lip. I'm used to a cooling gel and not being made to look like a coke feign. I paid and left. Disappointed by the lack of cleanliness and professionalism that I had grown to expect in New York City (where threading is actually cheaper than at this hole in the wall). Avoid it. read more

Just had the absolute WORST eyebrow waxing experience here. I came out with pretty much no eyebrows. I mentioned that I had some eyebrow pencil in so they could remove it before they started waxing but she just started trimming my eyebrow hairs and then started waxing. I was horrified when I looked at my eyebrows...they are pretty much non-existent now! They are uneven on both sides and just look terrible. I think she knows she messed up because she even had another lady take a look and try to do something about it. But at this point, the only thing is to wait till my hair grows back. read more

V.I.P. nails is your typical nail salon. I decided to try this place out since its right across the street from my apartment complex. They are a couple of dollars more expensive than some of the other places I have gone to but its worth not having to drive across town for something cheaper. The woman who ended up fixing my nails did a very nice job. Super friendly and did not charge me extra to even put more jewels on my nails. She even attempted to have a small conversation with me. I have been going to this nail salon for almost 3 yrs. now. Thao is awesome at getting my nails done when I am in a hurry. They are a few dollars more then some of the other salons I have been to, but they are well worh it. Kim makes sure she gets the newest colors to keep your nails and toes looking their best. And I might add, I have yet to ever get any kind of fungi from their tools. They keep it pretty clean and I feel beautiful every two weeks when I walk out of there. read more

One thing I love about this place is that they will tweeze your eyebrows (I always break out with threading wax). I'm always satisfied after leaving this place. This salon is clean and the staff very friendly. It is near my house so I find myself coming here when I am short on time, though am never fully satisfied with the service. I have to say for Kim, I would give her 5 stars hands down. She corrected my awful nail job that I had done at a Circle C salon and let me tell you, they look GREAT!!! And that is coming from a very picky nail person.... However, they could definitely use a little more decor to set the ambiance to the experience of a "spa". It's a little bleak inside. I will def be returning for all my future nail fills as long as Kim is there. I would like to go for a pedicure, but I'm a little hesitate after reading some of the sanitation issues..... I give this place 5 stars because I've been going here for nearly 2 years and I love the staff. It's close to my apartment and when I moved here, I needed a new nail place. It isn't the fanciest place, but they do a wonderful job and are not rude when you tell them what you want. I've gone to Trihn in the past but she is no longer working there. Kim (the manager) is spectacular and always takes care of me--mostly my manicures/shellac. She gets booked a lot, so I would suggest calling and making an appointment. I come here all the time Kim is the best she always fits me in at the last moment and does a wonderful job. She always shows her love for her clients and really cares.
