    Oliver Twist

Amazing drinks! I had the Oliver Twist which was super unique and tasty. I also tried some of the martini and it was fantastic. We also enjoyed some appetizers on the patio, which is fun because it's right on commercial drive. Great place to go with a group and try as much of the menu as you can

Booked a reservation for a birthday at 530 for two and was sat at a tiny table. The ambiance was lively and all the tables were filled by the time we left. We ordered the pan roasted cod, the insalada Della Casa and the funghi pizza with gluten free crust. The pizza was more than enough for two people. The cod was on the smaller portion side, we could've probably ordered one more dish to share family style. They wrote a nice hand written card for the birthday celebration. Would return to try the cocktails as they had an extensive cocktail and drink list.

Their Russan dumplings are served with a hefty portion and bread and sour cream and nearly all of the flavors I have tried have been ones I would try again. The fusion cuisine is not to every taste, but they have some flavors that have been approved by someone I know as "fairly authentic". The atmosphere has always been lowkey and not too busy or loud and the interior is warm and inviting.

Not even staff, however we did not wait long till we were helped. We ordered a bunch of side dishes and dumplings. We were left to our own reading as the service wasn't too helpful with explanations but the menu wasn't too complicated so that helped. We ordered a small and a large but they came out the same size so unsure if they misheard us or not but we ended up eating everything anyway so it worked out in our favor. Overall the food was comfort level and satisfying but not really enough. The beats were a good texture but the pickled vegis couldve used more zing and crunch. I think this place feeds better as a togo experience than a dine in but still a treat!

There are lots of parking available both the main lot or the side lot that takes you to the back of the restaurant. We got beef carpaccio, calamari dijonnaise, and lingcod to share, as well as a glass of red and white wine from Vancouver Island. We were served some small fish bites as amuse bouche which is a nice touch and pretty common in nice restaurants like this The beef carpaccio was super fresh and contrasts well with the texture of crispy sunchokes. Very aesthetic and well executed Calamari dijonnaise has a sharper flavor from the sauce, and the calamari is lightly battered but still crispy. A heartier dish for an upscale restaurant, but it works well as we were quite hungry after lots of walking that day Lingcod is more Asian fusion take of an entree, so I am a fan. The crispy rice is super flavorful albeit on the oilier side, and the cod itself is very fresh. Every bite has a bit of sophistication from all the ingredients around alongside fresh vegetables like pickled beet. The wine pairs well with the dishes. Service is excellent as I was very thirsty and the server kept up well with water refills. They clean up plates in between courses and checked up on us a few times and had a nice yet brief conversation to keep the energy flowing. Don't forget to take a walk outside before or after dinner! It's a small nice garden, quite romantic. Overall, I would recommend this place tucked in a bit away from Nanaimo, and it is worth the journey whether you rideshare or drive or transit.

There are a good variety of pork dishes but I ordered a steak. It was bacon wrapped and within the steak was oozing cheese. The steak was seasoned perfectly. It also came with a basket of fried potatoes and a side of cucumbers and tomatoes dipped slightly in vinegar and salt. The service was attentive and on point giving recommendations based on my taste pallette. The dining area was small, maybe enough for a total of 30 people dining max at one time. The ambiance was very quiet, enough to talk and converse without having to raise your voice. Lots of wall art depicting either famous people or places from Serbia. I noticed several Nikola Tesla pictures. A destination to totally visit and wisk you away to the food joys of Serbia. Recently I went for brunch with my family for Father's Day and we had a great time. We all ordered different brunches. My brother and dad got the French omelettes, my mom the quiche Lorraine, my sister the carbonara and myself the mushroom egg tart. We all really enjoyed our dishes. Mine was light, fluffy, flakey and bright with a perfectly cooked soft poached egg. It's a clean feeling breakfast. My sister's carbonara was a proper carbonara (made with egg yolks) it was really savoury and a touch too salty for me but I enjoyed a taste of it. We also ordered the basque cheesecake. I've noticed more and more basque cheesecakes on menus but very rarely do restos do it right. I was looking for a gooy-er lighter but full cheese flavoured basque and unfortunately this just doesn't hit the mark - it's a bit dense and lacks that rich cheese flavour. It was a miss but everything else was great including the service. We had many attentive waitresses from the bar staff to the floor staff and had some great convos with them. This is a staple for the neighborhood and I wish we had more places like this!
