Wondering around Everett and looking for a place to eat and happened up this place. It was dead, 1 table with 2 people. I walked in and asked the employee I saw if they were open. "The open sign is on". I saw no open sign. Snarky reply aside, I took a seat. Nice looking place but it had a funny but I'm not laughing smell. The snarky waitress was my server and was very nice and pretty good. I had a garden salad ,chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. All were good. But the carrots were outstanding. Desert was chocolate ice cream with raspberry drizzle. Perfectly lovely. The 3 course meal was only $15. Lose the smell and the initial snark and it could have been 5 stars. read more

I'm honestly really pissed at this place right now. I come here pretty often and usually the food is yummy. I was eating my food, enjoying my time with my friends and eventually I found this long ass hair woven in to my hash brown potatoes. Because I didn't see said hair in my food until later on in the meal, only $2.50 was taken off my bill. If one side on the plate is contaminated and it's on the same plate with other food, the whole plate is contaminated. My meal should've been free. Eating food with someone's hair in it is absolutely disgusting. That was unacceptable. This was at no fault of my server and fully on the manager as she was the one that gives discount permission. I've never ever been to a restaurant that doesn't take the whole meal off the bill after a hair was found, not even the ones I've worked at. This wasn't a "oh I'm gonna eat half my food and then say I didn't like it" situation. I could understand something like that. It's the principle of there being a HAIR in my FOOD. Basically what they are training their managers to do, is hold their customers accountable for not tossing their food to check for hair even though there shouldn't be any in the first place. I usually prefer places with a good few, places that are more modern with ambiance, however this antique, classic diner like restaurant had an amazing charm and super awesome service! What you see is exactly what you get. This place must be absolutely hip hop happening with the local senior community because there are always a ton of elderly folks around. It tends to be pretty peaceful and no one makes much of a ruckus. The bar is almost always empty but the tables tend to be a bit more packed. The staff is super friendly! The food and drinks are kinda... bad good. Everything tastes like something your grandma used to make. I love their Mulligan stew and their poutine. The breaded grilled cod is fantastic and the early bird 3 course meal is adorably finished with a little bowl of ice cream, served in one of those teensie metal ice cream bowls that your great aunt used to have. Easy walk from Courtyard Marriott! Love this restaurant set in the old Post Office from the late 1800's. Brick building with tiffany lighting. We came in around 2:30. Menu had so much to choose from. We started off with hot wings and they did not disappoint. I had oysters. Hubby had fish and chips and boys...patty melt and cheeseburger. Fries were handcut. Food was excellent. Nice happy hour discounts as well. Bartenders accommodated Roy Rogers and Shirley Temples for boys. Many locals I believe. Everett's hidden gem! Will be back! read more

I saw good reviews on google and not so good reviews here on Yelp, but I decided to give it a go anyways and the verdict is I do not recommend this place. Sad to say because it is in a cool area. Poor customer service. We didn't get a chance to try the food because they refused to seat us. They close at 3pm and we arrived at 2pm. There is no sign on the door and when we walked in, they said they stop seating at 2pm. There was only one table occupied and 2 servers and a bartender standing around. Finally stopped by here after driving past it so many times, wondering whether or not it was good. Overall, not a bad place to grab lunch and there are some items that seem interesting enough for dinner that I'll probably go back for (specifically: liver & onions). If you come in with expectations of regular diner food you won't be disappointed, just don't expect too much. I had the Reuben and it was one of the better ones in Everett. There was just the right amount of meat and sauerkraut on one half, but the other half was overloaded and the sauerkraut was undercooked, so it overpowered the corned beef. I had a side of fries, they were OK. Some of the fries were crispy and some were soggy. The waitresses don't seem very organized, they all kind of washed dishes and ran around while people were perpetually waiting at the door. There is no waiting area so you have to stand around awkwardly next to people who are eating. Some of the customers were there 5 minutes before they were acknowledged. Kind of annoying if you ask me. Today was the last time I will order from Vintage Cafe. I've become accustomed to the occasional fork, napkins, dressing, maybe extra pickles missing, a couple times food items were forgotten....after all they are a busy restaurant and my order is to go usually and I can handle a little misstep. Till today, I found a hair. Not a little wisp of a thing but a nice heavy one mushed in the cheese of a burger that looked like it could have fallen on the floor. No dressing for my salad, no fork no napkins or the usual ketchup packs for the fries. At over $23.00 for the two burgers I have to say I feel ripped off and tho I'm pretty sure they aren't going to miss my business, I'm one customer that won't be back. 7/11 is starting to look like a better choice. read more

How can you repeatedly have waitresses work in this establishment who don't care to provide great service? Each and every time I've been in, I've been treated like a fly on the wall. I am a very patient person and can wait better than most. I chalked it up to a busy day the first time, even made an excuse for them the second and third time. But after the fourth, I haven't/won't be back. Great service doesn't require you to break your back. Just to not ignore your customers, and to work with a smile. Even if a customer is the one being unkind, you should always "kill them with kindness," so to speak. I think this restaurant needs a face lift in attitude and in food quality. Stopped in after work for the first time and the place is beautiful and well decorated with lots of natural brick and old photos of town. Started with calamari and a spinach dip... Both had been on happy hour so only 5.00 Then we both had salad one was a Cobb and one was a chef salad. Both were very large serving and both had a grilled bread served with them. Love the food and service, this is one of my favorite places to eat. I give this place a 4star not 5, only because they have changed the food they serve. The Vintage Cafe has always had the BEST breakfast fried potatoes in Everett, unfortunately that is no longer the case. The fried potatoes being served now are not very good. Wish they would return to the old style potatoes . This is not enough to make me pass on The Vintage Cafe but it has made me look for another restaurant for breakfast. Total dump. Feels dirty and greasy. Food is mediocre and some of the staff are really rude. They rush you and act like you're an inconvenience. We've been coming here for a few years because it's walking distance to our house but tonight was the last. The toast on the club sandwich was rock hard. I love the interiors with the restored original floors, ceiling and brick walls in a building that was built in 1892. We started with their $5 happy hour specials - Grilled Oysters and Calamari. I remember how much I loved their Calamari, but when we ordered it, it was not as I remember it. The pieces were much smaller and tasted bland. The oysters were also fried and not grilled. We also ordered the Reuben Sandwich and Fish n Chips. We enjoyed our lunch and prices remain reasonable. My only reason for deducting a star is the service. We had to "flag" a server a few times because she was standing behind the bar and the tables are hardly within her sight. The room is long and somewhat narrow so unless you are sitting in front of the bar, you are not visible to the person behind the bar where the servers tend to huddle. read more

The chicken fried steak and gravy was very good too. Quaint, homey atmosphere in a building that's been here since 1902. Such an unfortunate experience. The host didn't greet us as we waked in and just threw us in a table by the door. The waitress then came over and asked about our drink order without making eye contact. While we were looking at the menu, I asked the waitress a question about a sandwich, to which again, no eye contact answers very quick and short. My cousin and I are both visibly muslim women and ordered items with (and we made this very clear) no pork products. After what felt like 20 mins, both of our sandwiches have ham and bacon... okay. Then our appetizers only came out after our sandwiches were being remade. The "loaded" fries were dried out and looked like they were microwaved with some cheddar thrown on. Then finally we get food and my (2nd) sandwich has no meat at all. I ordered a Monte Cristo, which is a Turkey sandwich. I asked the waitress if there was ham on the monte cristo and she said she didn't know... then I asked the owner if I could speak to him, which he seemed apprehensive about and shouted at me from across the room, "what do you want?" to which I said, "could I speak to you for a moment please". I asked him what came on a Monte Cristo and he responded "I don't know"... how do you not know what's on YOUR menu?? At this point I gave up and canceled my order. It was very inconsiderate of the waitress to not pay attention and then for the owner to not offer an alternative and say he was taking it off the bill as if that solves the issue??? This was horrible the food was so greasy I could not eat it and that was for a breakfast omelette with vegetables the eggs are cooked both sides they shoved in a greasy pile of vegetables just floating in oil or whatever they cook in and it was terrible I asked for a side of fruit when they brought the meal out they said they had no food they brought me three slices of tomato but they still charge me for the fruit the waitress was inattentive and never offered to do anything when she became aware of the problem until the end of the meal did not offer to take anything off. read more

Used to go here with my mom as a child so I was excited to try it out as an adult. Was basically ignored by our waitress and it took 30 minutes after they cleared our plates to pay and leave. Gave her the tip I thought she deserved and found out later my tip was adjusted. I called to get some answers and was told by Amber, the manager, and coincidentally the name of the server on my receipt, that I would receive a call back the next day and never did. I walk into Vintage and it's a seat yourself kind of place. Albeit the old world decor and antiques around the place make it a lovely atmosphere. It took 10 minutes before the waitress acknowledged us. After receiving our menus we decided on an appetizer and 3 meals with beverages. Our appetizer was spinach and artichoke dip 4.95 .... WHAT A RIP OFF not only was it barely tepid there was maybe 7 stale "handmade" chips on the plate and the dip came in a dish your sauce should come in, not your appetizer. Our meals came about 15 20 minutes after that. There was a minimal amount of stale fries on the plate. Someone should inform the cook that it is no no to cook with warming lights ... joking ... Point is my food wasn't even warm. My daughter also never received her ice cream with her meal. The entire selling point for her might i add . Our waitress took 20 minutes to give us our check ... Vintage cafe was a complete waste of my time and money. .... To begin I would like to paraphrase the great Morimoto and say that "the food here has yet reach a level in which to serve a human being". The place was dingy and dirty which is a shame cause it could be a cute looking little bistro. Our waitress had some sort of stick up her butt and she was borderline rude. It's like she knew the minimum level of niceness she has to reach not to get fired ( If it were my restaurant I would have fired her a**). No hello, no welcome, no eye contact no smile. She hates her job and you can tell. My husband and I both ordered the eggs Benedict. The Hollandaise was gross (but it is in most places these days...seriously people it's not that hard to make), but the worst part was that our eggs were poached hard and the potatoes were stone cold. It's like they prepared the potatoes, put them on the plate and then poached the eggs for a good 15 minutes or so and then decided to serve the meal. We both returned our meal to "Princess Happiness" who seemed confused until she came to the conclusion that she'd have the cooks remake the dishes... you can't microwave egg yolks back to runny so really what choice did they have? As my husband says, its one thing to have sh*t ingredients and a good cook but when you have sh*t ingredients and a sh*t cook, well there isn't anything you can do about that situation. Our meals came back (I'm hoping with no sneezers) and the eggs were slightly runny and the potatoes slightly warmer. We're weren't going to take our chances with a second return and bucked up and ate it. It's pretty bad when you can't even make your Sunday brunch special properly and even if it is sh*t, I would still like it served with a smile. My chicken sandwich doesn't really stand out in any way and it would have been the same thing had i ordered it at a chili's, but the bartenders were both friendly and I enjoyed the ambiance. I brought in a group after calling ahead and making reservations. The employee on the phone informed me that because of the number of people in my group, they would have to shrink down the menu to two choices. A combination of bacon, sausages, eggs, biscuits, etc. Surprised by this. I ended up agreeing to it to make it easier on the restaurant because I know it is tough to serve a large group. We arrive 15 minutes prior to our reservations and we are seated in our own personal private room. We were all very hungry and excited to eat here. However, we ended up waiting a WHOLE HOUR for our food to come out. The menu was shrunk down to two items and it STILL took that long. Not once did any employees come out to tell us that our plates were on their way or give us an approximate time. A couple that came in after us also left due to the long wait for their food. They were waiting for 45 minutes or so. After an hour wait and 15 minutes of eating our meal, we received the check. When making the reservation, the employee had discussed that meals were going to be about $6.99 each. However, when we received our check, each meal was almost $10 each. On top of that, we had to pay extra for a few cups of gravy. After waiting for a whole hour, you think they would give some kind of complimentary item. We spoke to the manager and there was some miscommunication. We took it and ended up paying the bill. As we were leaving, we had one more chat with the manager and the way she spoke to us was very condescending. She couldn't care less about us and kept saying "I don't care." We were VERY disappointed by the poor service that was offered here. The website states that it can handle a group of 30+ people. Clearly they cannot even handle a group of 10. read more
