We came around 10:40 am on a Friday for brunch. There was a line, and people kept coming in after us, which shows how popular the place is! The staff was friendly and courteous, and the meal portions were generous. We enjoyed the #35 Chicken Fried Steak Barge and the Stuffed French Toast very much. The facility was clean and nicely decorated with a holiday vibe. Parking was easy, as there was a small parking lot in the front.

In short Basic diner in every way but you might be surprised at just how good the food is--and the whole place, really. In long It's been here for decades, and it's been a couple decades I've been meaning to get in here to try it. I've gotten here a few times and seen massive lines, so it's not like I've made ZERO effort...they just get SO busy. Finally made it in at 10:30 on a cold and gray October Thursday, and still had to wait a minute or two for our table. They're so friendly and cheerful, though, and absolutely always in motion doing something. This is the kind of place that almost seems like it has been open 24 hours for 50 years or something. Partly because the activity just never stops, and partly because it seems like maybe it's been a while since they put in new furniture. They have some hand-made benches covered with, you guessed it, totems, in a vaguely Coast Salish style. Respectful enough, and not really trying to use the iconography for profit. It's just kinda some of the decor. The people here are incredibly warm and gracious. We saw a server lean over to hug a guest who hadn't been in in a while, while on the other side of our table a guest was asking our server where he had been before he moved back here. He took the time to tell her his story even though his section was full. Then the server who hugged somebody was walking arm in arm with an older guest to steady her while she got her to her table. Man, oh, man, do we need more of this everywhere these days. But the food. You get two laminated menus. The all-the-time stuff is all appetizing, with many of the dishes you see mentioned most often as favorites. We both got specials--the bennie had brie and prosciutto. This is a place that might make fun of those things as pretentious ingredients, but here they use them and use them very well. it's a rich but well-balanced bennie with awesome muffin and hash browns along with it. The Totem Hash is a legit corned beef hash with tons of veg in it. I could actually go a little meatier with it but I still ate until I felt beached. That was definitely *before* I finished the plate. Between us we ate maybe 1.2 plates of food (out of 2). The biscuit is killer--tons of flavor and aroma, big, soft, chewy. Great with little bites of hash and bennie. They do so many extra little things here. Scratch soups, scratch freezer jam. You really feel like you're in somebody's home, especially when you add in how warm and welcoming the staff is. Prices are great even before you get to the portions. Once you factor in the knowledge that you can feed 2 people with most of the single dishes here, the prices are insanely good. So many things have to go just right to make a place this great, and we need places this great all over the place. I wish we had 100 more Totems, but I surely do appreciate how lucky we are to have the one.

This has got that old school diner vibe, you could almost imagine Flo and Mel in the background. The food is really tasty and hot when it comes out of the kitchen. The customer service is quick and the wait staff are very kind. Will come back.

Cozy family diner. Really wish we had more of these around. People knew each other in the neighborhood, were happy and just there for quality time. Food portions were crazy large and great! Service and operation were smooth. Super friendly and they had people in and out quickly even though the line seemed so long.

We left Everett for Seatac on a Saturday so there was aa bit of a wait to get a table but nothing unbearable. The parking lot gets packed and I felt guilty parking in front of someone's house but what can you do? Prices are about what you expect, around $20 - 25 per person after you add tip and tax. The menu is huge and the portions are fairly generous considering the price of food in 2025. The pics kind of speak for themselves. It's solid, hearty food and we enjoyed ourselves considering I hadn't seen my cousin for years, it was just nice to sit down to a nice breakfast and hang out with him.

Visited Totem with my sister earlier & I'm already planning to return tomorrow lol. I loved looking around the interior at the classic antique decor & old school diner seating. It's such a vibe & a place I think everyone should come to at least once. Our server was Sonny, which is such a fitting name for him given his disposition and level of service. My sister ordered a JR breakfast which comes with one pancake, bacon, scrambled eggs and cheese. I had the #15 and opted for sausage links, O'Brien potatoes, an English muffin and scrambled eggs with cheese. For drinks we had their coffee and green tea. Everything was good, serving just enough food portion wise & was well seasoned. Pricing is also fairly low compared to other breakfast/brunch spots I've reviewed. If you happen to find yourself on this part of town give them a try!

Totem has a lot of options. We went with the typical breakfast of pancakes and eggs. Everything tasted great! The service was nice and speedy.

If there is a party of 5(including two kids ages 5-6 ), should I make a reservation, or how long is the wait on a Saturday?

It is a popular restaurant so calling in for a reservation would always be a good idea. We last visited during in-between meal times and it was quite crowded.

I see on the website now open for Dinner Wednesday through Saturday. What are the hours on those days?

Ot open for dinner rite now. The hours are M-F from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm and Sat/Sun from. 7:00 to 3:00

Is gluten free bread an option to toast?

    Yes. Yes it is.

I loved that I saw at least six versions of my childhood dining room table, which felt so nostalgically comfortable that I wanted to crawl under one with my coloring books and my chocolate milk. But I digress -- you're supposed to be reading my review. I decided that I was in the mood for grilled cheese and tomato soup, so that's what I ordered. It definitely worked on me - usually specials are relegated to a small corner of the menu, but here they are front and center. I couldn't resist and so I got the Pot Roast Dip. It's a sandwich that has a good amount of pot roast, some bacon jam that's glued together with provolone and Swiss cheese all on a Giuseppe roll (From Macrina Bakery? It's a crust roll). The bacon jam and sandwich dressing makes the sandwich really sweet, but the Angus sauce is very salty, and so when the sandwich is dipped it all balances out interestingly enough. It was good to try, but I think I'll order something else next time. I also got a Mocha latte- very smooth and delicious. I would get this again! Their bathrooms are shared with the rest of the building - the code is at the cashiers. The wifi password is right next to it too. You grab a menu, wait in line to order, and then they bring your food to you. Bus your own table when you're done. Solid spot.

We're both omnivores who eat a fair amount of plant-based fare for health reasons (I have allergies and intolerances, she's heeding doctor's advice). To be clear, this is a cafe, not a full blown restaurant. They serve luncheon fare, but it's a small operation so be either patient to don't bother - especially if there's a line. It's counter ordering with payment expected in advance. The tables closest to the window are a *little* harrowing because of the ADA ramp that leads to the door: the closest chairs can teeter down the ramp if the chairs are pushed back too far. Be careful. There are huge, regular, and small tables available. The biggest table is a little tricky to navigate for folks who want to sit in the booth side, but once seated it's quite lovely. I ordered the Pesto Pasta (involving zoodles: zucchini noodles) and a Sun Juice. My friend ordered the Grilled Cheese and Bisque. Please note: it's worth looking around this place while waiting for your food. You can conceivably get your own water, napkins and cutlery if you walk far enough along the counter towards the back of the restaurant. Back there, you may also notice a single-occupancy restroom and bins for bussing your own dishes. The Sun Juice arrived first, freshly blended, and was delicious. If that's what their juice is like, I look forward to exploring their smoothie offerings. My pasta arrived looking BEAUTIFUL on a bed of spinach, and smelled just as good. It tasted a teensy bit more of salt than I would've liked, but then I speared a sun dried tomato with my next bite and remembered that I'm not a food critic, just a happy customer. Although I'm not generally a fan of zoodles, they seemed to have the art of cooking them down pat: they didn't distract from the pesto at all. The bisque had an artful design of (coconut? cashew?) cream on top. My friend was delighted to note that it was a bit of spice to it: nothing challenging, but just enough for her to find comforting. Given the light and airy look of the inside and the rather rustic / flower-child look of the outside, she was not expecting that surprise. She was so impressed with the grilled cheese sandwich that she offered me a bite: we were both quite impressed with the "cheese" they used, as the item was listed as vegan on the menu. My friend kept whining that she's doomed, as they're close to where she lives *and* they deliver. Oh, yeah - poor her, indeed. Alas, alack, and so on.

I can say we were all pretty disappointed in this place. The staff was the only positive that we took away from this experience. Both servers that we encountered were both kind and attentive. The drinks and food however totally missed the marks. We all started off with drinks 2 margaritas, a gin gimlet and a beer between the four of us. The margaritas were terrible, like I am not sure how they put them as a feature drink. They had zero jalapeños and also offered no spicy margarita whatsoever. My wife's gin gimlet tasted like straight up lime juice. All were complete misses. Next we moved on to the food where each couple ordered a dozen wings. The X's and O's( fries and onion rings) and we also ordered a wedge salad. The wedge salad came out and idk how it was marketed as wedge when it was a bowl of salad completely engulfed in dressing(closer to soup than salad). Next the fries and onion rings came out and I'm not usually a stickler for what things cost, but $17 for like 6 onion rings and a very sad plate of fries. We expected a bit more for what we ordered for the table. Lastly the wings. While the flavoring of the wings were good, they came out not too warm to the touch and biting into them they were cold on the inside. Concerned that we may get sick from uncooked meat they assured us that they were precooked and just dropped into the fryer to finish them off. To me it is concerning that though they were precooked and still missed on hearing them all way, you may need to have a chat with your kitchen. Both of the servers were on top of it and ran both dozens back to have our order recooked. Second time around they were hot and crispy with good flavor(although the garlic boom boom wings were missing one of the sauces the second time around). It didn't matter, we ate them and paid. Not sure we will put this on our revisit list. Maybe the burgers or flatbread were the way to go, but out of 3 menu items and even the drinks.... There needs to be much more effort to everything here...

I have been skeptical with the new ownership, but after 3-4 visits now, I have to say I am Very Impressed! This visit I sat in the bar and ordered my drink, the rib steak, mid-rare, baked potato, salad. It was Very Good! The steak was cooked to perfection, and being a bit thin that is tough to do. Special shoutout to Tristan who was cooking that night. I sent an extra $5 tip back to him specifically, I hope he got it. Tristan got the steak seared on both sides and perfect mid-rare from side to side. He pulled it off the grill just in time. Thank you Tristan. Next shoutout is to Phoebe, she's a great bartender and took time to chat when not busy. I'm picky about how my Smith & Wesson is made and she's got it down. Thank you Phoebe. Thank you both for the great food, drinks and service. I will definitely be back--probably later today!

Haven't been into this building since Petosas was here or was Alligator Soul after that, I don't know. It was very clean and had the same set up inside. The server was quick and attentive. Pretty decent size portions for the price and the breakfast was pretty good. I had the logger special. Lots of meat, I did not finish it(almost!). One thing to note, if you do go here in the morning for breakfast the whole menu is open to order, except the pizza....which I thought was kinda funny since pizza is in the name. We got there at 9 so I imagine they start serving pizza 11 or noon? Either way, I will come back just to try the pizza.
