Was complete wowed by Vino e Cucina late last December with all of their dishes. Came here for a holiday party for my girlfriends work and loved their lasagna, cacio e pepe and Contadina. They accommodated a large party like ours very well and everything came out one at a time coursed, family style per each four people. It started with salad which was good, calamari which I thought was pretty chewy and not fried well. Bread was okay too. Then we got our starters and it changed everything. Lasagna was cheesy and crispy at the top. Cacio E Pepe was my favorite. Bolognese spaghetti was pretty good. Contadina was my 2nd favorite but I don't recall there being any sausage in it, just mushrooms with a mushroom based sauce. Sigh I hate writing reviews like this but I just can't stomach this experience. We walked in around 6:30pm on a Tuesday night. We got seated and after we ordered, the server told us that because there was a big party, that our food was going to be delayed. Well she wasn't wrong. We didn't get our food until 7:20pm. We did get our appetizer but it came out cold/lukewarm. The sad excuse for "bread" ... it looked like croutons or end pieces. We later saw another tables bread basket and were baffled, they got a loaf... while we got crumbs. We later learned there were specials, but were we told? Naw cos why would we need to know. Don't let the outside of the restaurant dissaude you. Outside looks very nondescript but inside the classic Roma Italian cuisine and service are top notch. It was our first time last night and we were compelled to go because they actually prepare deep fried zucchini flowers. Can't say enough of how good the food was...Puttanesca and Tortellini followed by Eggplant Parmesan. Wine paired perfectly. Tiramisu was just as expected. Delicious! Service was on point. There's the bar section for more intimate small group dining and beverages. The main room with a vibe between intimate and the room best for groups. We enjoyed the 3rd great for groups. Tucked away in the corner for a lovely intimate date night dinner. It was sweet seeing the family of 8+ enjoying the meals and engaging in laughter. You could bet, it wasn't there first time here. It appeared to be a family tradition to come year after year as they knew the whole staff. When I see this, you know this is not just a restaurant but a place that builds community. As for the food... YUM! You can never go wrong with fresh burrata. I'd like some more tomatoes but I'm a tomato lover. The herbs provided a nice flavor profile to compliment the acidity from tomatoes. The squash blossoms were heavenly pillowed perfectly paired with a tasty creamy pesto sauce. We practically licked the plate clean. The pastas, chef's kiss! The Contadina was our favorite with the umami forward punch. Just a very quaint authentic Italian restaurant with unbelievably tasty food. I love this place so i kind of don't want to tell ppl about it because it'll get crowded. Marco is always attentive and knowledgeable about all of the dishes. Damn this cabernet is perfect. I feel like I'm in Italy, very Italian vibe and they're speaking Italian to each other. The burrata cheese appetizers w prosciutto always is good oh and the bread with oil and vinegar we demolished. My entree was the special for the night gnocchi w eggplant. It was wonderful! Food is wonderful. Customer service absolutely sucks. We ordered a dish of pasta and some wine. We asked for bread. We were brought four 1 inch cubes of bread. The woman who took care of us was not friendly. She was rude. The best part is that I believe she is the owner. I was there five years ago and had a similar experience. Thought we would try it again to see if it had just been a bad night. But for us, it was consistent with the last experience. Tonight we went to our favorite Italian spot in Long Beach, just a short drive from home. As always, we had such a pleasant experience, the staff is delightful and the dishes never miss. I tried the Positano pasta with shrimp, and it was delicious .. rich and creamy, perfectly balanced, and totally suited my pregnancy taste buds. This place is great and authentic! We went to dinner when they opened up around 5pm on a Sunday for 6 people. This was our first time there and we were in the mood for Italian! Marco was our server and did a great job. We have a few kids with us and he was helpful taking care of them first. They even made Alfredo pasta, which is not necessarily on the menu. The calamari came hot. It was lightly breaded and was more soft than chewy. There is a combination of both tentacles and body. The order came with plenty of sauce. Hubby's sauce had the right consistency, tang & seasonings-so zesty & savory delicious. The seafood (clams, shrimp, calamari, mussels) were soft & tender. My pasta was egg-based & imported from Italy, it was al dente-so toothsome& thick. Hubby didn't particularly care for it but I loved every bite. Unfortunately, the shrimp on my dish were overcooked, so these were a tad hard on the chew (delicious nonetheless but I do prefer these on the soft chew). The table bread was a bit mediocre. Didn't have the experience I hoped to have here. When we arrived no one greeted us, then someone came out and asked if we had a reservation. Only one person was friendly, the waiter who wasn't our waitress and busy with other tables but still managed to be pleasant. Our assigned waiter broke our bread up with his bare hands with NO Gloves on didn't wash his hands after and continued on to other tables. The current prices are about 50% more than what was listed on their website. I get inflation and wage increases, but update your own damn website. I ended up spending $60 for a pizza, pasta and salad, where I expected to spend around $45. The food: the margarita pizza was sad. It wasn't even as good as a Little Caesar's cheese pizza.
