We were greeted very warmly upon arrival. Given time to settle and review the menu. There was an extensive selection, including vegetarian for persons to enjoy. The noise level was good. We could chat. We all enjoyed our dinners. Great drinks and yummy apple, walnut nut bread pudding served with ice cream. Best of all, I can walk from my home. This is a neighborhood gem. We stopped by here for happy hour one day, and were pleasantly surprised that they had a good happy hour. the beer selection is a bit small, but the ones they had were good. they also had a really good cocktail selection. Vineapple Cafe knows how to do brunch right. The service was super friendly, and quickly changed out table from outdoor to indoor when it started raining. The cold brew was served in an adorable pineapple shaped glass, but most importantly, was rich in flavor. My egg scramble with olive toast was delicious. I was really excited to check out Vineapple's Halloween special -- There were three special drinks on the menu and one special entree which I got for the night. We ordered the 3 for 20 charcuterie board with truffle cheese, prosciutto, and parmesan. The board was very tasty -- the parmesan and prosciutto in particular had very rich, aged flavors. The drink had a nice presentation, and was extremely strong in a not good way -- the other ingredients in the cocktail did not come through. While the pasta presentation was great (the noodles were black!) and there was a decent carb to veggie/protein ratio, the serving was quite small and lacked flavor. It tasted like butter noodles, with a lack of depth. This was my third time coming and my summary of Vineapple -- drinks okay, food subpar, but would go again for the charcuterie appetizers. read more

This is the type of coffee shop that the barista would probably remember your name if you were a regular, a feeling that seems hard to find in New York. I only made a quick stop here to pick up an Iced Latte on a hot day, but I had a great experience. The staff was super friendly, the prices were totally reasonable, and my drink was delicious. For those who are familiar, the coffee they serve is from Devoción which is one of my favorites. If you live nearby be sure to check out their reward system. The place itself is cozy and clean. The bar is small and inviting. The menu is small and doesn't look like much but is very flavorful. We had steak with the wonderful sauce , the gnocchi and the Mac and cheese. When I tell you that the dishes were made with love... I do not like. I heard it was the chef specifically on Tues and Thursday that does this sort of job. The steak was cooked to perfection. Juicy and perfectly pink in the middle, dripping with juice. The Mac and cheese is cooked in its own small pan with toasted crumbs on top. Creamy, delicate and decadent. I had the gnocchi, it was pan fried.. you would think it would be dense and overly filly but it was light and airy. The roasted garlic. Mushrooms and broccoli were a great compliment to this dish. Top with fresh herbs. So good I didn't want to stop eating it even though I was full. I had to ask, the chef that made this was named Christopher. Wait until he works... He made my night a totally delight. The wait staff was friendly and the drinks were strong. If you can make it to Brooklyn this small place is worth the trip. All of this was reasonably priced. The short rib pappardelle was just OK. It could have had a heartier sauce and more flavor. I would have opted for the burrata add-on, but not for an additional $6 to a $26 dish. Bring your own pepper grinder -- the waitress didn't understand what I meant by freshly ground pepper and failed to locate a pepper grinder. I'd go back for a drink and maybe an appetizer, but you can find a better dinner for the price. read more

We were on the hunt for some good tiramisu for dessert, and wandered in at the end of the day. After looking through their menu, we also wanted to try the apple bread pudding. We were prepared for the staff to tell us that they had sold out of their desserts for the day, since their dessert display in the front looked empty. But the main server sat us down and was able to serve us our desserts. This little cafe was so cute and cozy with its pineapple decor. They have a nice outdoor setup for Covid times. just be sure to read the menu carefully. The eggs Benedict have avocado, which I am allergic to. Fortunately the waitress replaced the entree for no charge which I didn't expect and even though it was my error in not reading the menu carefully. The scones and muffins are delish also. First tip is that you need to ask for a table inside, not just claim one like we did (lol) but they were super cool about it since there were no reservations :) (you can make a reservation too!) We actually came by for coffee - I got an almond milk cappuccino with Frangelico and my husband got coffee with almond milk. I really liked my cappuccino and it was so pretty! We sat there for a bit with our dog enjoying the nice weather and decided to grab something to share. We ordered the eggs Benedict, which seemed pretty popular. I loved the presentation, their hollandaise sauce was on point! Eggs were a bit overcooked if you're going to be super technical about it but we both enjoyed our choice! Come here if you like playing musical chairs with the servers! I came here all the way from Manhattan to work on my computer with some friends since it's advertised as "laptop friendly" cafe. I always order breakfast, coffee, and lunch if working at a cafe - if place gets too busy I'm considerate enough to order more in order to stay longer or sometimes I just leave. But this place only allowed me to sit in a certain section that wasn't super comfortable despite me ordering all day (my friends also ordered food and drinks). Then, they kept moving us around and asking me if I can give up my table and share a two top with the two people I was with - we all had laptops, so of course the laptops didn't fit on that small table. We weren't even there for over an hour yet! I had just gotten there like 45 minutes - so, I understand if I was there hours and only ordered coffee - but this was not the case. Also, the servers were super nice but it's almost as if they were super high because they were taking FOREVER to come to our table, or to give us the bill, put in an order, etc. The food and lattes were good though, and plenty of dairy free options. read more

My friends and I stopped by for brunch after skating in Brooklyn Bridge Park. We waited around 40 minutes for our table and ordered coffee to start. They serve Devocion coffee here, which means it's strong, smooth, and hits hard. However, I didn't really like my B.L.A.T. The bread was over toasted, so that each bite tasted like crunching on a crouton. It was very dry and I peeled it back to reveal a quick drizzle of sauce. I asked the waiter for more sauce and he brought back a whole cup of it which helped. The sandwich also didn't have much bacon. The thin strips of bacon and meager amounts meant that most of the time I was crunching through a lettuce, avocado and tomato sandwich. This made me sad because I love BLTs and have never had a bad one. read more

While the food & drinks were really good, our service was outstanding. Our server Claire made our brunch experience so lovely even though the restaurant was packed & she had to service the whole restaurant practically alone. Claire was attentive & took care of us even though we saw she was the only server working. She didnt even make us feel like she was too busy for us even though she clearly was slammed. Vineapple Cafe is literally three blocks from my house in good-restaurant-deprived Brooklyn Heights. Vineapple Cafe has been in the neighborhood a while but we never made it over for a visit. Right under my nose as you would say. My wife visited with a friend and nothing but raves to share. We went on a freezing night. It was a splendid experience all around. Warm vibe--the cafe is cozy but not crowded--lighting is pleasant, volume levels are tame, and service is efficient and friendly. I was really taken with cocktail list and the mixologist Rob hit a home run with me. I ordered a Golden Harvest, a delicious Mezcal cocktail (it's actually far more innovative than that). It was so good I had to have another to be sure. After my compliments to him he wrote out the recipe for me. Nice! My hanger steak was nicely charred on the exterior and medium rare perfect inside. Pureed celery root and roasted vegetables were ideal complements. My wife's Baked Eggplant was by her accounts excellent. A Tiramisu dessert was spot on.
