tl;dr: slightly above-average bistro fare, fair prices, excellent service
I came here with my girlfriend on a Sunday night with no reservation and few options for dinner (most of Paris was shut down). We came here on recommendation from our hotel to a full restaurant. The server was helpful and understood that we did not want to be seated outside (we couldn't stand the cigarette-smoking). He told us to wait at the bar as a table would be ready in a few minutes.
We were promptly seated and given menus. We decided to skip entrees/desserts and opt to share a duck confit and braised beef (candied beef cheak). We were given generic bread with no butter. This did not concern us much as the food was immediately out.
The beef was delicious, falling apart, but served in a single large piece. It was accompanied by a bland but satiating bowl of pasta which was made better by tossing in the braising liquid.
The duck was perfectly cooked and served with overly oily potato slices. Most of these were not too bad but some were sitting on the bottom of the plate and absorbed all of the oil from the duck that seeped out during the meal. We didn't mind much because the duck was so delicious.
Our waiter continued to check up on us with the standard and straight-forward Parisian "is it good?." We appreciated the attention and he was very fast to bring us new water which I always like to have.
The bill was about 18E/person. A small sum for a medium dinner. We weren't disappointed. read more
