A local favourite and a regular spot for us in our warmer months! Village Ice Cream has been around for awhile and of course, serves ice cream. But there are also hot items on their menu like funnel cakes and fries. They also serve whole cakes, cheese cake (from Cheesecake Factory), and other take-home desserts. The ice cream here is Kawartha brand so it's quality stuff. Sometimes the flavours swap around. My go-to is almost always Black Raspberry Thunder. You can never go wrong with that. I ordered an Iced White Chocolate Mocha once and unfortunately that was a miss for me. It was an absolute sugar bomb that was way too sweet, but maybe I'm not the target audience for it. I did go into a dessert shop and order an ice coffee. I think the place recently went through some renovations. It looks pretty cute inside and there are some nice little decor pieces that make for some pretty Instagrammable pictures. read more

I came here on a Saturday evening with a friend. Although it was pretty busy, we were able to easily find a seat inside. The staff are super friendly and cheery. Their ice cream is also SO good. I don't usually get flavours with fruit but their raspberry white chocolate flavour was incredibly delicious. Their waffle cone was average but I mean it was only an extra $1. Parking is a breeze since it shares its medium sized parking lot with the rest of the plaza which isn't busy. Transit may be a pain as it's located in York region for those taking TTC. read more

My friend's been craving funnel cakes sine we know we can't get any because Wonderland is closed for Covid. She found out about this ice cream shop in Markham, so I ventured all the way from midtown to Markham for it. We ordered the funnel cake with strawberry shortcake ice cream on it to share and my sister ordered salted caramel ice cream with churros. Unfortunately, the funnel cake appears to be refried, so it was quite hard. It was really crunchy and got quite worked up attempting to cut it up with plastic cutlery. We really enjoyed the strawberry shortcake ice cream though. The churros my sister ordered was really delicious and fresh though. If I do visit again next time, I will definitely get the churros. They also had a huge selection of ice cream, so there definitely is something different to try each time. read more

Reallllllllllllllllllllllllly old shop in a realllllllllllly old place. Young, friendly servers... colorful ambiance with not much seating inside. Price wise ok... lacking flavors and variety. Portions (scoops) are huge if you get them in a cone or waffle. Tried their espresso ice cream....Not bad... the taste of espresso was lacking though.... might visit again. read more

Love this neighbourhood gem!!! Can't believe I can get a ton of variety of Kawartha ice cream right around the corner :) they have a pretty full menu. At least 25 flavours of ice cream and they also have freshly made waffles, funnel cake. They let you sample them so you can figure out which one you want! I opted for double kiddie cup to get 2 flavours but the portions are generous! The creme brûlée and strawberry cheesecake is amazing! The moose tracks is a must have too :) They also carry cupcakes and cakes from la Rocca and Cheesecake Factory! I would say the biggest draw is that they carry all flavours of the Karwatha ice cream and the Cheesecake Factory goodies!!! They renovated last year and now the shop has a nice modern look to it - great cosy little place to eat your ice cream away :) Definitely will be returning again :) read more

As the weather finally gets warmer, a couple of things are guaranteed in the food world. Patios open up, the backyard bbqs get cleaned out and the urge for ice cream begins again! Village Ice Cream has been around a long time in the east end of Markham and last year they did a major renovation and update to their space. From a regular dated parlour, the feel is now more upscale and hip to draw in the younger crowd and it works! But the big seller has always been the Kawathra Ice Cream which is one of the best commercial ice cream producers in Ontario. They have pretty much all the flavours produced by them and all are fantastic. You can get them in singles, doubles, in cones or cups and you can even get them in tubs to take home. Since the renovations they've also expanded the menu it seems and have added funnel cakes, waffles, churros, shakes, and even poutine! Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Overall loved the changes they made. Solid 4/5. Time to welcome summer! read more

Village Ice Cream Shoppe is a small neighbourhood ice cream parlour. Decoration is really simple.. dare I said plain. You won't find that smell of baking sweetness In the air when you walked in the store since the cones here are not made in store. Ice cream varieties were limited on this particular weekday afternoon. Village Ice Cream Shoppe carries Kawartha and Nestle brand ice cream. Classic flavours: Strawberry, Vanilla, Chocolate, Cookie & Cream, Black Raspberry Thunder, just to named a few My single scoop ($2.59) Mango flavoured Kawartha was delightful and sizable which I really enjoyed. I've been here a couple times in the past (probably many years ago) but I never knew they had so much besides ice cream! They have a wide variety of Kawartha ice cream, which I love! Quality ice cream. The service is fantastic too. Both people behind the counter were very friendly, greeting new customers, and let us take our time choosing while offering us samples of ice cream. What pushes this from a 4 to 5 stars is the variety of other options! They have cakes, cheesecakes, cupcakes, funnel cakes, and lava cakes - just to name a few. We've lived in this neighborhood for over 5 years, passing by this location all the time. I can't believe we missed the amazing ice cream until now. They use Kawartha ice cream here. Definitely better than Baskin Robbins. They have an assorted selection including sorbets, nut free ice cream. They also have a selection of cakes from the Cheesecake Factory. And cupcakes ranging from 2.95 to vote $5. They have a selection of waffle cones and sugar cones ( my favorite). They also have waffles!!!! I am definitely coming back again. I picked the wolf Paw single scoop ice cream. Yum! read more

Ok - I love this little place!! They have a large selection of Kawartha Ice Creams, and the prices are not crazy! I got a 500ml hand packed tub for $3.99, to me, that's an awesome price. They have not only ice cream, but milkshakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes (Cheesecake Factory kind!), donut ice cream sandwiches... everything to make you say 'Hmm...I'll start the diet tomorrow!' I really want to try the funnel cake and the 'to the 9's' milkshakes soon, as I have heard good things. So far, I've tried the chocolate peanut butter ice cream (yummy), some cupcakes (not the Cheesecake Factory type, but the regular $1.99 ones) which tasted fresh and moist - if they are not baked on site, you could've fooled me.. and finally, the churros - my first time having a churro and I must say...how was I living prior to this experience?? I think it was made fresh when I ordered it, as it did take a few minutes for it to be prepared. The employees here are always friendly and helpful, and the little shop is pretty cute. Favorite mini ice cream bar! "WHY?" You ask? Their ice cream is all Kawartha branded. Which means it is made in Ontario with real cows. What I also love about them is the fact that they're super friendly. Leila, one of the workers there, treated me with honest opinions and gave me many options to choose from for ice creams. My fave was the birthday cake! Delicious!!! And super colorful! If you haven't been and are in the area, I definitely recommend you giving them a visit! read more

To be honest. Nothing special. They serve kawartha diary ice cream. $3.50 for a single scoop. You can buy a 1.75 L tub for $7.75 as well. You can probably find at a retail store for cheaper for a tub. I've seen Costco sell limited selection of flavours for around $5. There is also a selection of cakes and cupcakes. Poutine also on the menu. read more

Came here the other day for some ice cream. The place was newly renovated and it looks great. The owner and employee was friendly and was able to get my fix without much waiting. Any ice cream is delicious as they are made from real dairy and not the modified milk junk you get from grocery stores. Tip: Must try Moosetracks flavour ice-cream! read more

Super friendly staff paired with some amazing ice cream. Prices are in the okay range, with ~ $4 for a single scoop and $7 for a double scoop, but serving sizes are MASSIVE. They really stuff your bowls/ cones with ice cream. Great variety and also have other items on the menu! If you haven't had village please go check them out! read more

When I heard this place had Kawartha ice cream, it became at the top of my dessert list in Markham! I opted for my go-to flavour, chocolate chip cookie dough, and it was by far the most disappointing scoop of Kawartha I've had. The ice cream had a stale taste due to freezer burn and was not creamy like your typical Kawartha shop scoop. The chocolate chips and cookie dough bits also tasted old. I'm not sure if other flavours have the same stale taste, but I wouldn't go back to try. If you are craving Kawartha ice cream, I'd recommend going to the Old Firehall Confectionery at Main Street Unionville. Though it's a tad pricier, their Kawartha (at least the chocolate chip cookie dough) tastes fresher and closer to the ice cream you'd get at the Kawartha shops. read more

The soft serve ice cream is always inconsistent. Always has little black grains in them. Not mixed enough? The service is not great either. The mom/son in front of me left because they only took cash. The staff were rolling their eyes and laughing at me because I disinfected my hands after giving them cash and before I touched my ice cream. It was extremely rude. I should have left, but stupid me, I didn't. read more

I stopped by for a cone the other day. They sell Kawartha ice cream. My fav is the moose tracks flavor - chocolate and vanilla with mini Reese cups. Prices are good and you get a huge scoop. Service is always fast and friendly. Only down side is there is limited seating if you don't want to lick and drive.... read more

My daughter and I love going to this place because they serve peanut and nut free ice cream and it's delicious. It's really hard to find peanut and nut free options anywhere, because it's hard to guarantee it. Stopped in here with my daughter the other day to pick up a creamy milkshake. Their "large" $5 milkshake is a 24 of cup. Strawberry Icecream and 2% milk blended by hand. Although flavorful, i don't think it is not worth the cost... Just a plain old milk shake, no sprinkles or whipped cream to be found. Although you can make a shake from any of their ~ 24 flavors, My daughter got a chocolate shake (i know we were not very adventurous) -- and this was not nearly as good as the strawberry. It seemed more like very cold chocolate milk, and had a slightly sour taste that wasn't present in mine. Service was good with a smiling teenager behind the counter and a discreet "tip" jar by the cash. The soft serve machine was closed by the time we arrived (7 pm) but they do have frozen yogurt and fruit with a "pick three" option. Overall i approve -- but they could take some small steps to go gourmet without adding much cost.... read more

They serve Kawartha ice cream here. Prices are extremely reasonable. They also serve freshly made waffles with ice cream that is enough for 2 people. I'd highly advise ordering the waffle ice cream here as similar offerings are much more expensive at other places. read more

This is a great local ice cream shoppe! They sell Kawartha ice cream and supply many flavours like Moose tracks, cookie dough and my all time favourite cookies n' creme! Their waffle cones are delicious; I recommend that you get a single scoop with a waffle cone). If you are a frequent goer, they also have stamp cards. So after 6 (that's what I remember it was since last summer or was it 8?) ice creams, you get the 7th for free! read more

This is a great ice cream shop in Markham. They sell Kawartha ice cream and have so many flavours. They have the classic Kawartha flavours, such as moose tracks, but they also have more unique flavours like creme brulee or apple pie. It seems like they regularly get new flavours as every time I go, they have something new to try. You could get ice cream in a cup, regular cone or waffle cone. As the waffles cones are not made in house, I don't think it is worth the upgrade so I normally just stick with ice cream in a cup. My favourite is the pistachio almond ice cream...so delicious! They also have waffles here and cakes, although I have never tried the cakes. Stamp cards are also available, which is a nice perk. Love this place! read more

This is a place we regularly go in the summer as a family. Sadly tonight, 2 of the 4 people in our family had hair in our icecream. The first instance was my daughter's icecream which was replaced and an apology offered. My daughter and I ordered the same flavours and as I got to the bottom of my first scoop, I also discovered a long black hair in mine. I requested a refund which they did and apologized again. As much as I am happy they handled it that way, I am truly DISGUSTED and will have a hard time going back. Servers should be wearing hair nets as they are hanging over the freezers and clearly hair can fall in as 50% of my family experienced that tonight. Sorry Village Ice Cream Shoppe Markham, you've got to do better. read more

Went here yesterday and ordered one of their milkshakes "to the 9's" it was enough to fill both me and my friend because their milkshakes only come in a large, and a large is huge! It came out to $9 and I can agree for the size given it was worth the money. The presentation was amazing. Whip cream chocolate drizzle and two big pieces of brownie on both sides. I was so excited to try it and it definitely met my standards. Can't wait to go back and try another one. Milkshakes are my favourite and I for sure found my go to spot to go to from now on when I crave one!!! read more

Their egg waffles are always freshly made and its crispy, it's legit bomb! My kids love them and so do I. The owners are super nice and sweet. When they see my kids, they would offer them a little treat like candy or freezies. They offer a variety of drinks and desserts. Ice cream is offered in many different flavors. Original egg waffles are 2 for $5 which is the cheapest I've come across, no where else beats this price. I keep coming back here because of their great service and the prices are really good. If you're craving for some dessert or even a drink I would highly recommend this place. So far they are closed on Tuesdays and sometimes they are closed for a period of time due to vacations.
