Our house had not been inspected for termites since we moved in 4 years ago, and had some termites kill a tree in our back yard, so we were concerned we might have termites in the house somewhere. Tony came by and provided a free inspection of the outside of the house, the garage, and the attic. Based on how recently the house had been tented, Tony was pretty confident we did not have any termites, but he still did a very thorough job inspecting the house. He did a great job of explaining why he thought we were at low risk of having termites, walked me through his process, praised the previous company that tented our house, and recommended that we shop around if we still had any concerns. I unfortunately did not use them, and went with someone else that my general inspector recommended. Boy was I sorry. This guy wanted to charge $3,000 to repair some termite damage. This was concerning because the seller had a termite person come and quote the damage at $500. SO I call Viking Termite to potentially get a third quote. I spoke with Tony, he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He looked at the 2 reports and gave me his opinion and even drove to my new home and told me the $3,000 quote was crazy. I had a serious ant problem and my attempt to get rid of it failed. I called Tony and he came out same day to spray the outside of my house. I agree that Tony is a nice guy, and refunded me a little bit of money, but it doesn't make up for the aggravation of having plants destroyed and having holes dug in my yard. I understand that the guys are in a hurry (they started tenting the house while I was obviously still inside). I understand that there needs to be a flat surface for the tarp to have a good seal. It would be nice if Tony had explained to me that they would scrape clean a 12" swath along the edge of my house footprint. If there were plants in that zone, too bad - they're gone now. Also, where there were areas that couldn't be flat, the guys dug a hole (yes, even in my decomposed granite patio) to get dirt to pile onto the tarp in those uneven areas. For cripes sake - why don't they bring their own sandbags instead of digging up my yard????!!! And where there was an option of digging up a plant or digging 1' to the right, oh no - dig up the plant. Also, the guys stomped on and crushed the plants in the planter when they used the planter as a step stool. The crew supervisor went inside my house (after it was tented) to ensure the cabinets and drawers were all opened, and to open a window for ventilation. After I got back inside my house when the process was completed, I saw that the toilet lid and seat were up. Is that a requirement for tenting, or did he use the toilet? If you use Viking, you'll get a competitive price, but be aware that they plan to dig holes in your yard (or tell them to bring their own sandbags so they don't dig holes), and ask Tony to clarify which plants will be destroyed in the clearing for the 12" swath. Make sure to detach all of your hoses from the hose bibs, or they'll do it and fling your sprinkler timers out of their way. read more

No hassles, great value, and excellent service. I needed to have a vacant rental house in Costa Mesa tented. I was looking for a wholesaler, to avoid paying the middleman and their advertising, but stumbled upon Viking which does do their own work but is capable of providing customer service. An estimation appointment was scheduled the day after my call, and Tony was on time. He looked around while I was dealing with some other contractors and came back with an excellent bid. So good that I cancelled a couple of other estimate appointments for the following week. On fumigation day the crew was on time, organized, and efficient. Owner's nice, and the price is great. The problem is the people who work for him. They broke 160+ tiles. Sure, I've been told that some tiles would be broken but, at the same time, was promised that they'd would do everything to keep the damage to a minimum. The repair cost more than $5,000. My neighbor recently used Viking Termite to tent her house. She was extremely happy with them and especially with Tony, who helped with the process from beginning to end, and the cost was competitive. I wanted an inspection since my son witnessed a huge swarm of termites flying out from under my house. Tony came and did an inspection, at no charge. He showed me several pictures he took, and explained I had no damage whatsoever. There was one small area around an outdoor vent were there could have been some activity, and he advised me to go get some termite eliminator and then showed me how to apply it. We just had our 2 story home in Huntington Beach treated by Viking Fume, tented and sprayed the attic with borate to protect unpainted wood (not necessary but I wanted it anyway). Tony was great, very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. If you are planning on treating your house for termites/bugs, you would be doing yourself a disservice by not calling this company. They are like our Milgard windows, "Clearly the Best!" And since they are the company quoting the work and doing the work (one of the few that do), you will also get the best price with no extra overhead cost, no unnecessary up selling, and a 2 year warranty. The crew that did the work was very thorough and efficient. Javier explained what they were doing and put us at ease knowing we were leaving our home in his and the other crew members' hands. Aside from some footprints, clean up was completed as well or better than any other contractor who has worked on our house during the past 15 years. I did drive by a couple times while the tent was on and it looked very sound, not like a bunch of patchwork I have seen on others. We also needed some wood repaired/replaced that was very reasonably priced. Oscar like Tony was very professional and did a thorough job, explained what was needed, and primed and painted any new/patched wood and he showed me a cluster of dead termites stuck in one of the fascia boards we replaced... exciting to see dead termites! Lastly, I would be remiss not to mention Michelle in the front office, who is just awesome, if you like always having your phone calls answered, knowing the status of your job, calling you if needed, and she is very professional and pleasant on the phone. I know it is a pain having to research this and move out of your house for a couple days, but these guys made it as easy on us as possible. Tony with Viking Fume was outstanding from initial inspection to tenting to wood repair. Punctual, upfront, courteous, and professional; what more can you ask for when making the decision to fumigate. Although having your house tented is a huge inconvenience, I felt comfortable with Tony from the start. Viking Fumes is an actual fumigation company and performs all the work. They don't subcontract the fumigation out like most other pest control companies do. In fact, if you ask most pest control companies if they perform their own fumigation services, you will quickly discover that they don't! Chances are, if you decide to have your house fumigated by another pest control company, there is a high likelihood you may cross paths with Tony anyway, since he provides the fumigation services for several other pest control companies. This is something that should definitely be taken into consideration, especially when many homeowners are taken by surprise when they find out the most important part in termite extermination is sub-contracted out! Although having to tent your house for termites is never a pleasant event, I was so glad that I ended up using Viking Termite. Tony arrived for the initial appointment promptly. He did a complete inspection (as he explained to me the law requires). Unlike other companies that I called, he did not say that I would be charged for the inspection if I did not use his company for the fumigation. He was very thorough in his explanation of timing, the type of chemical used, and how I would need to prep my house. He explained to me which of my outdoor plants might die (the ones in a planter on our wooden deck) and that my roses next to the garage would be fine. The dates that I requested were available, and the procedure when as planned. They even took some boxes out of my house that I had forgotten to move. The cost was very reasonable compared with the other companies that I interviewed. I recommend this company without reservations. read more
