I called out Pacific termites and they gave me a bill of $8600 just for subterranean termites. They didn't even tell us we have both types of termites. I couldn't swallow that cost so I started calling the listed termite companies one after the other except Terminix bec they are a horrible company (used them before and was charged over $159 for a service I didn't get bec their guy quit). Anyway, after 10, YES TEN!, different calls to different companies and not a single answer I got Tony. Thank goodness! He came out less than an hour after I called. Did the most thorough inspection we have ever seen (he was under the house for over 10 minutes so my hubby kept calling him to check on him LOL). Tony has a friendly personality and quoted us on the spot. It was waaaaaaaay less (more than half) the price of the Pacific quote. We hired him on the spot and will start our treatments next week! We came across Tony & Viking Termite because when we were looking to tent our place we had two other companies come out, only to tell us that they would be unable to also tent the wooden lean-to structure that is attached to the side of our house. Both of them said it was impossible Tony came out and looked at it and immediately spotted a solution whereby I would remove a few fence slats so he could cover the house, the lean-to & the wooden shed and still be able to seal the tent. That was the first big plus, the second was Tony himself. He was very thorough when explaining the whole process and answered all our questions. The 3rd big plus was that his price was a lot less than the other two quotes we received, even though Tony did more work by fumigating the extra two structures He was great to deal with and very easy to get in touch with when we had questions. Tony was very thorough in explaining the whole process and made sure we understood all the potential things that can go wrong. he gave us all the information and did not pressure us to tent. he even recommended I get several other estimates. I like his no pressure approach. While the process in general is a lot of work if you are living in the property, everything went smoothly with Tony's crew. we were concerned because we have Spanish clay tile that can break in the tenting process. in the end only a few tiles were broken that can be easily repaired so i'm happy with the overall result. read more

I am new to the termite inspection world, so I went with Tony (Viking Termite) for our first termite inspection. He was on time, seemed informed, and gave explanations for everything. He also recommended we fumigate our house and have a full subterranean treatment. I had no reason to doubt him at the time - I honestly don't know a lot about termites. I was a little nervous about the fumigation - it's a lot of preparation and work. So I called another company for a second inspection. This company came out and did an inspection. Found the areas Tony had pointed to for drywood termites (that require the fumigation) but said they were areas of old damage with wood that had not been filled back in. Also they went into the attic (Tony did not go into the attic at all) and noted that the house had been fumigated 5 years ago. No evidence of drywood termites in the attic. In other words - no need for an expensive and laborious fumigation. I was given some insight on how to look out for future damage and how to differentiate between old termite droppings and new ones. The fact that Tony did not go into the attic, did not point out old areas of treatment, and still recommended the most expensive treatments to the house make me question his expertise at best. I do recommend that you get a second opinion. I don't like to leave poor reviews, but felt this one was required. read more

Bottom line: no bells and whistles or fancy sales pitches but just a great price for fumigation. Tony is knowledgable and doesn't hurry when he's explaining things to you, not upselling but just saying it like it is. He's the one to call if you're pretty sure you may need fumigation. I gather that he's not into spot treatments that would be just as expensive and less effective. Fumigation is the best way to ensure that you're getting everything, and I agree with his view that in a lot of Southern California homes you should just expect it to be a necessary part of maintenance every 7-10 years. Tony stopped by a couple days after the tent was removed to check things out. There were a couple spots of minor damage where it seems the crew was a little hasty, and Tony was not happy with that.
