My wife and I have eaten Pho all over these United States and, sadly, this place served the second worst Pho we have eaten EVER! The Pho had a LOT of fat in the broth and the flavor was downright terrible. I ate only 3 bites of my large bowl and not once did the owners or waitstaff ask if the food was OK or why I had not eaten the Pho. We will not return. We wish that the owners of the old China One Wok would re-open a place in Denton. They had some of the best Pho we have eaten anywhere in the U.S. read more

Poor service. Rude cashier when I asked if the restaurant was self service since no one was bringing me a menu or waiting on me. The waitstaff seemed to be enjoying the food, saw them eating more than the customers. Saw several customers sitting with water and menus in front of them while waitstaff was grazing behind counter. My love for this place knows no bounds. My friend and I are so addicted that we had to make a pact that we would stay away for two weeks because we were going waaaayy too much. I get the spicy pho with rare beef. It is literally what heaven is made of. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Fresh ingredients and the perfect amount of spice. Yum! Arrive at 5pm, wait 10 minutes for a menu. Order. Wait 20 min for appetizers. Wait a total of 45 minutes to an hour (lost count) for two bowls of noodles. Never checked on. Had to actually go find someone to get the right sauce. No drink refills. When we ordered we changed something before he left and he verified it with us, only for what we canceled to come out anyways. Took two tries to get the checks right, after asking for them twice and waiting 15 minutes. If you like good food but have ample time to spare this is your place. This little place packs a big bowl. The Pho Bo Hue was excellent. The service was outstanding in this casual and laid back hole in the wall. We sat in the covered porch area and enjoyed a Texas spring day and great soup. Will make this place a regular stop. read more

If you are expecting authentic delicate Vietnamese taste, I would not suggest this one. The service is ok, but the soup lacks the most important pho ingredients and the taste like a mix of some spice and soy source. I went there once and I won't go again. read more

I was offered their 'special' which normally means it is less expensive...it doesn't here. It was right at $3.50 more than any regular deal they have. It was supposedly curry & that is what i wanted but it barely had any curry taste to it at all. Along with this massive disappointment in my food & 'special' price being more than anything else i wouldn't have ordered a FOUR DOLLAR BEER if i knew my 'special' was going to be over ten dollars! I was excited about Viet Bites and couldn't wait to try it out. My wife and I decided to visit on 02/15/13 at about 8:30pm. As we walked in we were handed 2 menus and were told to sit anywhere. We found a table in the back and sat there for about fifteen minutes. There was a foul smell and no one had offered any service. We decided to leave but I changed my mind, not only I was starving but I really wanted to try the food. We sat up front and again waited to the point that I stood up and walked to the counter to ask for drinks. In the mean time, a new party walked in and sat next to us. A server approached them and asked for their order. I became upset and mentioned that we had been there waiting. The young man's response was less then professional; "Excuse me?!" as if I didn't have any right to interrupt him. My husband and I are obsessed with this place. We have been twice. Both times the service has been excellent. We tried the chicken wings the first time, and they were very flavorful. My boyfriend was craving pho, and this place seemed to be the only place that offered any in Denton. We ordered the traditional spring rolls that never came out. Which I'm glad didn't. He ordered the combination pho, the broth was not that great and they do not give you enough meat probably about 4 meatballs and 5 strips of meat for the price I believe was 8.95. I ordered the vermicelli bowl. I added a fried egg, and asked for a suggestion on the sauce. He recommended the citrus ginger. When the food came out there was a long black hair on my egg. He took it back and returned 5 min later with the bowl and a different egg. The fried jalapeños were cold. The sauce was flavorless. It was the saddest bowl I've ever had. The lemongrass pork was good though, again cold. Not worth it. I'll just wait Til I'm back home in Fort Worth to eat Vietnamese food. read more

Every since trying pho for the first time a few months ago, I've literally driven all across Dallas and Ft. Worth in search of the best. While my favorite place so far is Carrolton (Pho Que Huong) I think Vietbites is an awesome alternative to quality pho when distance is too far. The place should be renamed "Viet" bites. I've had a lot of pho in my life, bad and good, and the bowl of pho that I had here was the worst of them all. The meat was sparse and the broth (the most important part of pho) tasted like flour water. It tasted like they had cooked the broth using the water that they used to cook the noodles.Yuck. I'm the type of girl that can finish an XL bowl of pho at a traditional Vietnamese restaurant but I couldn't even force myself to finish the regular sized bowl that was set in front of me. We loved, loved this place and decided to try it despite some of the negative reviews. The food was very authentic and their VB tacos were creative amd delicious to say the least. If you like calamari, you MUST try the salt and pepper calamari dish, which blew me away. It was lightly battered and well-seasoned with grilled scallions, onions and garlic with a hint of sweet and salty. I'm a native Vietnamese and the food here was pretty close to my mom's cooking, which says a lot! Although I would have liked to seen more variety on the menu, they managed to cover all of the traditional Viet dishes (pho, banh mi/sandwiches, vermicelli, egg rolls, spring rolls, etc). Where they lacked in variety, they made it up in creative dishes that were packed with flavor. This restaurant may look like a hole in the wall but aren't those always the best places to eat? I used to eat here weekly until one day recently last week I found a short but still medium sized brown hair in my food. I didn't want to make a scene as i come here so often. I asked my server to simply trade it out for a new plate. In the mean time I began to Look around to see how could this hair be in my food. I then noticed the cook has a huge beard and nothing covering the beard. I have worked in the restaurant business and was required to always have my hair tied back, I just can't begin to think as to why this mans huge beard is not required to be covered and in the end resulting to sanitary issue. I tried the tofu fries, tacos, and a spicy beef pho. All were fresh and flavorful. I also was pleasantly surprised to learn that they don't use MSG. The staff is very friendly as is the owner. They've improved quite a bit since opening! No more ordering at the counter then having your food lost somewhere along the way. Couldn't decide between 3 and 4 stars so I went with 4 because they've improved so much. I could honestly eat here every single day. Best fried tofu I have ever had, and I've been a vegetarian for over 40 years. This place was amazing. I can't ever remember having more helpful service, and the food...mercy...AWESOME! The tea I had was the tea of the day and I can't remember the name of it, but it was so good I had two glasses. Everyone at my table was moaning over how great the food was. The location is small, but didn't feel crowded at all. We visit Viet Bites for the first time last weekend, after wanting to visit earlier but waited till the restaurant to settle down a bit, we try the beef pho and it tasted like a pho that my mom made from scratch and does not use alot of MSG or flavoring to enhanced the taste. Our family have weak stomach and food with MSG causes stomach upset. I usually do not write review about restaurant but wanted my Vietnamese opinion on the pho, I think everybody have like their Pho differently and in our country pho from different region taste differently. Alot of Vietnamese restaurant enhanced their flavor using MSG, Sugar and alot of salt, I think a bowl of pho should be light and fresh, the broth should be clear, yet have the taste of beef broth not of artificial flavoring. I think in this respect Viet Bites got it right. If you have any doubt, next time you eat pho ask the retaurant if they uses MSG to in flavoring their food. read more
