I'm not sure what your problem is people, but this is a great shoppping center! The grounds are beautiful and there is a great selection of casual and active wear stores, kids stuff, and SHOES! High end shoppers will probably appreciate the Carlsbad Company Stores, but if you are a normal girl or guy, you'll be able to find something. Let me start by saying I don't consider shopping a sport, more of a chore. That being said, I like places that are easy, convenient 1 stop shopping, this place is not it. I live very close and go maybe once a year. I don't like the layout for shopping, better for strolling aimlessly. I went shopping at this outlet center on a saturday it was not as busy as I expected it to be for a saturday. The restrooms are hard to find because they look like the front of a store. There is a huge water fountain which my lil ones loved by the food court. They also pop fresh kettle corn, a plus. Other than those 2 things I was a little bit bored. The nike store seemed to be a huge hit and I think all the people visiting were in there it was packed like a can of sardines. I did end up buying board shorts at pac sun, the staff there was nice and helpful. Not really looking forward on going back to this outlet because they don't have many stores I am interested in. read more

pros...nice place to get away for a while. some cool shops but a lot of not so cool shops, well at least for me. do like the nike shoe outlet, and the gap, as well as the eddie bauer one too. good stuff, and all at some discount prices. best to look all the way in the back of the store. nice little waterfalls and even some good snacking places too. not too crowded either. cons...this place is really far away. kept thinking that i had driven too far, but the signs kept saying, no stupid 8 miles more. and uphill at that. glad i'm not walking. the drive is not a fun and curvy as going to barona. read more

I love Viejas mainly to get out and stretch my legs in a really relaxing atmosphere. The shops aren't great, and on a recent trip I discovered most close at 8 on a Friday night? ...Strange. The shows are fun if you're there late and there's a yummy Italian place to eat at. read more

They don't carry clothes for guys that are 6'4 290. Levis...nope. The shoe stores they do carry some size 13's but nothing bigger. Wilson's had a few jackets in my size but nothing I would really wear that is fashionable. read more

Visited this locations for the first time and I was quite pleased and impressed by the wonderful customer service that I received at this location!! Being a business owner myself, the employees portrayed every single quality that I would want for my own employees. One employee in particular Jennifer, was very attentive to my needs, and even went above and beyond with her knowledge of the products sold in their store. She was so good that I had the intent of going in there to buy 2 purses, but by the time I left that store, I had purchased 3 purses, 2 wallets and a couple of accessories!! Talk about an up sell!! She really knew her stuff! I can't say anything but wonderful things about the employees here and I will for sure return again, as well as refer this Viejas location to my clients, family and friends!! read more

Pretty nice mall if you ask me. You'll find that a lot of the employees are extremely friendly and the administration really knows what they're doing. I would recommend catching the water show, I went last winter and it was phenomenal. That's coming from a 20 yr old. read more

Viejas outlet center is a beautiful place, we love to walk around and eat at Adriano's but that's where it ends. The mall has been slowly loosing all the main stores and it is really getting harder to even call it an outlet mall anymore. We used to go to the Ice rink every holiday season but last year and this year its more like lake Viejas then a ice rink. I think they could bring this mall back, maybe its time for new management to take over. read more

While the center has lost a few stores, they are constantly offering great sales and looking for new and exciting ways to attract shoppers. This year, the Easter Bunny was fun and engaging. Also, the scenery around the center is unbeatable. I only wish there were more stores, but I understand that it takes time to convince big corporations to get off their butts. read more

The stores are okay, not a great selection. But, they have a large water fountain that puts on a water show every night! It's particularly impressive during the holiday season. We still go over there for the Rubio's and dessert shops, though. They also have a Vans store with amazing deals and a bowling alley. read more

Don't make a special trip to Viejas Outlets. If you are already going to the casino I'm always thankful they are across the street because my lungs need a break from the second-hand smoke and walking around the stores I'm sure saves me from an even earlier death. I like the Nine West store and always find a cute pair of shoes and pretty good deals can always be found at the Gap store. Last time I found cute sweats for $3. Since I'm a kitchen gadget freak I can always entertain myself in the Kitchen Collection. I have yet to see the special fire & water show because every time I've been the weather has been too windy. Beware the sports merchandise memorabilia outlet. The owner was pushy and tried to use scare tactics on me to buy his crap that I already have(and I got for much less elsewhere). I was the only one in the store. He was on the phone when I walked in on a personal call and was like" LET ME GET BACK AT YOU IN A MINUTE" and hung up the call to come over and start scamming...He didn't have anything that I was looking for, which is fine, as I like a a very unpopular MLB team that most stores won't have available. Fine, no worries. Then he started hounding me about ANOTHER team I might like in the NFL instead. NO! I just want the MLB t shirt, you don't have it! He started trying to sell me a clock and a license plate cover. I just want a T shirt with my MLB team on it, bro. He then pulled out a tshirt that I already have..When I told him I had the shirt he was showing me, he pulled the : I KNOW!!! THIS IS MY JOB AS THE OWNER TO SHOW YOU THIS, ITS MY JOB, SO LOOK AT WHAT IM SHOWING YOU!!!" very mean and almost threatening. I was ready to flip out on him, but didn't want to ruin my vacation that was just getting started, so chose the high road. He then handed me a T shirt(as if to say..in other words, its yours now, you're holding it)..When he found out I wasn't interested he just clicked his teeth and was rude, and I handed him the tshirt back, and walked out awkwardly. This is a very unique mall. It is a very beautiful and peaceful setting. The associates in shopper services, Angela and Doug, are very helpful and friendly. They are knowledgeable about the outlets and promotions throughout the outlets. There is also a fun water fountain area that the kids can play in but remember to bring rubber soles for the kids to wear and extra clothes. If you don't bring the kids, you can gamble at the updated casino across the street from the outlets. The Viejas outlets and casino resort has come a long way from a few years ago. I used to love this outlet. The stores were good and the atmosphere was lovely. Today I was expecting Christmas ambiance throughout the mall and I was disappointed. It really lacked lights and decorations except in the center where the ice skating rink and large Christmas tree were. Also the rocks seemed barren. I thought I remembered more animal statues. Stores are missing around the ice rink area and a bingo bldg has gone into one of the larger storefronts. Eddie Bauer is one of the few stores I like there. Not as lively as it used to be. read more

All in all, I'd rather come here for black Friday. There's a mix of high end and standard mall store fare here...coach, Eddie Bauer, dress barn, annas linens, famous footwear, and whole mess of others, both old school and new school (didn't see anything like Ross here, though it would be awesome if there was cause that means the last seasons worth of outlet stuff would be there too and even more discounted). But what this place has that so many very popular outlet stores don't have is activities - bowling alley, arcade, etc and tons of food court style eateries....Came here because we gave up looking for Fillippis and discovered Adriano's (its actually Adriano's now as we later found out while we were there). The place is not busy and every store has huge discounts, 70%, 80%, 90% off even...below wholesale price actually. Will have to come back and get the real shopping experience. But one thing I really liked out of the place was the ambience....man made creeks and fountains and waterfalls running through the whole place with tons of nice places to sit out of the sun. I'd imagine when it rains (you know during the 8 days a year it rains in this county), it would be an issue, but I don't know why anyone would subject themselves to an outdoor mall in the rain the first place or at the least want to hang outside in the rain without an umbrella when there's so many indoor places to hang out in. But I guess if you had, just bring an umbrella. Its outdoor outlet mall...goes with the territory. Its quite clear the casino made huge efforts to make this place nice and inviting. Not just with the landscape but the facilities as well. There's vending machines everywhere and the bathrooms were some of the nicest and cleanest bathrooms I've been in any mall statewide. All the eateries too have their insides designed like the outside. I can't think of too many malls that custom design the interiors of their shops...I guess the casinos do, lol. Gotta blow all that money somewhere. There was tons of ample FREE parking as well around the outlet's backside and the place was cleverly tucked away amongst tons of foliage that matches the landscape (instead of being a huge commercial eyesore of a main road), so its clear these guys care about their impact in the area. I guess its bad enough the older casino is across the street and obviously so....but these outlets you could easily drive right by them without noticing them (if you weren't paying attention to the signs at each entrance, lol). I like the fact that this Outlet mall behaves more like a retail mall - its more manageable for customers than having to walk several miles because stores are so massive and spread apart...it also means only the best stuff will be in the stores at any given time. I was only able to visit the Nike Clearance Outlet, which is worth the drive alone. My friends and I spent over an hour in there! I got a pair of Nike Frees, 2 pairs of running shorts, and some socks, all under $70! The landscaping and feel of this outlet is very cute. The problem with this mall is it is not safe. There are toomany people who take the tweeker trolley from beautiful El Cajon who are not buying anything. There is no competent security here. You are on your own. Wilson's leather in my opinion is the best store here,plenty of bargains. Rubio's is excellent,especially onTuesdays with half price fish tacos. My granddaughter enjoyed the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Plenty of sneaker outlets. Best to park your car on the side that the mall is and avoid the toilet of a casino. The worst managed store in the entire history is the Alpine Sportswear Store. It is managed or owned by a total jerk,who buys his merchandise that are rejects from Nike and Walmart,then jacks the price up. He likes to yell at customers and act important. STAY AWAY! He tries to intimidate you,what a pathetic excuse for human you are. Fortunately I bought his garbage with my credit card,and got it for free,so I wasn't ripped off. I gave the merchandise to the Goodwill Store. Win Win for the decent people. read more

After reading some of the reviews, I felt I needed to comment on a few things. One person complained that it was hot up here. This is East County, it gets hot up here, beach people! Bring a sun umbrella or a hat in the summertime! I have been coming to this outlet center since it opened and there has always been a large turnover of stores in the past 15 or so years. I don't go there HAVING to find a certain item, I go browse the stores and look for whatever deals there are. I have found countless great deals! It's also nice to get outside and stroll the walkway, with the water running and music playing. I worked at the outlet center for about a year, and yes, it's usually quiet during the day (a plus in my book) yet at night, there are busloads of tourists that come in and go the casino and shop. The mall definitely holds its own with the Latino population as well. So don't let the uncrowded walkways fool you. If you want to shop with a bit of peace and serenity, this is the place. If you are looking for chainstore/mall type shops, this is not the place. If you want a nice steak dinner, cross the street to The Grove Steakhouse. Some of their dinner specials are great deals, and the food is totally worth the extra few dollars. I find the Casino a bit tighter than some of the others in the area, but we don't gamble much, and would rather spend our money on ourselves! Just the other night, hubby and I went to THE CAFE inside the casino, and the food was quick (club sandwich and a chicken fried steak, with soft drinks and an appetizer $23) and fresh and tasty for a simple dinner. So if you want to get out of "the ratrace" down in the city, and aren't looking for anything in particular, maybe just want to while away a Sunday afternoon, check out the outlet center. Very disapoint about the ice skating. When I walked inside to pay for the ice skating the guy politely told me that the ice skating was close that they where fixing something and to come back in two hours, about 5 it will be ready. That was fine I got an early dinner, and lost some money at the slots. I came back at 6 and the ice skating was completely closed so I called viejas. I asked if the ice skating was going to reopen for the night the lady said no, I told her an employee told me to came back at 5, I was waiting for 3 hours and that I drive along way (65 mile round trip). I asked if I could have an discount for the inconvenience so I can come back and she said no. I don't care that much about the ice skating being closed but I am very very disappointed I didn't get any discount after speaking to the lady and telling her my situation and that I was obviously upset. I am sad I wasted a Sunday. read more

I went to viejas to Christmas shop for my daughter and decided to stop at Christys Toy Outlet to buy my daughter Christmas gifts. I decided to pay my transaction with 2 different cards and the gentleman swiped one of my cards first then proceeded with the second one then he said the computer froze and that nothing was processed. Upon checking my transactions online I showed him on my phone that it was paid but said I needed to re swipe my cards. With no time to argue I went ahead and paid and sign my transaction. And now a week later Christys toy store collected on 2 transactions basically double charged me for my daughters gifts. As a single mom this is unacceptable. Now I had to call my bank and file a dispute have to wait ten days for a refund. In conclusion I called Christys toy store to ask for a manager a very rude woman answered saying she couldn't do anything about it and I know she was the owner Christy did not apologize nor offered a solution she said call your bank. Don't shop there unless you can afford to pay double these people don't care if they make mistakes read more
