Even though I moved back into the Eagan area several years ago, I had been going to the same tailor ~40 minutes away for alterations. When I had a ballroom dance costume I needed altered, I decided to try Vic's. The staff were helpful. They told me to purchase the fabric I wanted to use for the insert in my dress to give myself a little more coverage. They gave me a quote on the price of the work beforehand. I came back a few days later with my fabric, dress, and a pair of pants I wanted to get hemmed. I was quoted $18 for the basic hem and $45 for the insert because a lot of it had to be hand-sewn due to the many rhinestones on it. They asked when I needed my garments by. I said no rush - I needed the dress in a few months. They told me I could pick up in a week and had me pay for the whole thing up front. I picked up a week later and everything was done very well and met my expectations. I was especially happy that my ballroom dance costume turned out well. Took an item in to have the zipper replaced. Charged me $25 then just put in a new stop on the same zipper. Lied and said that she was doing me a favor to save money. The zipper it self was broken in 2 spots. I'll see if I get my money back on my card. read more

Located North off Cliff Road in the strip mall between Target and Cub Foods. Vic's hemmed about 8 pair of pants for me and everthing turned out well and on time! I called around a little bit to different businesses in the area to get some quotes before coming into Vic's. I needed a suit coat that was not fitted custom for my body altered so that I could wear it and not feel like an idiot. Since Vic's is next to Pilgrim's Dry Cleaners where I was dropping off some clothers and I happen to have the coat in my back seat, I decided to stop in. They took a couple measurements and gave me a price right there, boy was I surprised it was about 1/2 the cost of Accurate Alterations down the street. I agreed to have them do the work, it was kind of unusual paying for the service before it was completed but it was 1/2 the price of the competitor. Upon retrieving my item I was quite pleased at the fit, it really feels like a custom jacket now! Very pleased with the price and quality of work, I will return for any future needs. read more

I have used them a couple of times and they do good work and are friendly. I think they get a lot of business because of that. The only thing is that you seem to have to wait awhile for your work to be completed so don't wait until the last minute. They are busy and are there to help you and act like it. I needed a cheap blazer taken up in the wrists. The remarkably rude woman working there scoffed while taking the measurements. I should've left then but I didn't have time to find another tailor. Despite this being a really simple job with no buttons to move she charged $30 and their square machine asks for a tip...BEFORE starting the job. Never a good sign with a tailor. Things really went downhill when she got into the time frame... Her: When do you need it? Me: How soon can it be done? Her: When do you need it? Me: As soon as possible Her: But when do you need it? Me: As soon as possible Her: Ugh. Saturday. (This is on a Monday, btw) I'm not holding out much hope for the jacket at this point. Regardless, they won't get my business again. read more

I was on the search for a new alterations place since I had moved. I needed a few pairs of pants, a blazer, and a suit all altered. Vic's was tucked away in the strip mall but a very clean shop. The lady who greeted and measured me was great and very nice to talk to. She worked with me when I wanted a length not quite the style but what works best for me. I have some alterations that will need to be getting done soon and will go back. The only complaint I have is that one of the pants broke the stitching in the hem. So I don't know if that was Vic's or me just being very hard on my pants. Either way I will still be going back as the suit and jackets have held up perfectly and look great. read more

My sister referred me to Vic's to get my bridesmaid dress altered for her wedding because they also helped her with her wedding dress . I was so impressed with how smooth the service was and how quickly they got it done, for a great price too! A year or so later I got engaged and needed my own wedding dress altered and thought to call Vic's since they did such a great job before. Not only did she have to hem the bottom of my dress that consisted of three or four layers of different fabrics she ended up changing a zipper and adding a lining to the bodice for me so it wasn't so see through. I went to Vic's Alterations to get my wedding dress hemmed and steamed. They were very professional, fun to work with, and did a great job with my dress. I was very happy with the results. After coming with me to a fitting, my maid of honor even decided to have them do her alterations too. They also gave me tips on how to deal with wearing this giant dress, which was very unfamiliar as I'm usually kind of a tomboy. Stuff like walking forward in a little circle instead of trying to walk backward with a train, or teaching my maid of honor how to adjust things so I didn't look like I had back fat. I am taking this time to tell you I was very unhappy with the service I received from Vic, the store owner. Being a returning customer for about 1 year, I was given no appreciation for service when faulty came on their part. Trying to plan ahead- I brought my dress in to be altered 6 week in advance. Vic took my alterations on my bridesmaid dress- while 5 weeks later and 2 days before I had scheduled to pick it up, a seamstress called me telling me I had to come in to be measured again because the store owner never pinned it. Living more than 10 miles away, this is HUGE inconvenience and unprofessional- not to mention way over priced! (Friends paying $40-60 for alterations, at Vic's I paid $125!!!) Molly, the seamstress tried to make excuses that they accepted other dresses that were last minute and needed to get done before mine. After expressing my disappointment, especially after arriving a different day to pick up my jeans that were hemmed- Vic did not open the store for 15 minutes after open time....He did not offer anything as an apology for horrible customer service, did not apologize, and laughed it off. I am going to let everyone I know and the online community know how horrible this business is and how there is no appreciation for customers. I will not be returning. read more
