I thought the Vicious was definitely the best. The spice of the jalapeños and the sweetness of the maple drizzle went well excellently together. Don't forget to try to various house made butters they offer as well! The sweet puppies tasted and had a somewhat similar texture to donuts - they were great. We ran by this place during the copper river bridge run, so had to come back the next day to try it. This place was very good and worth the wait. There was a line out the door and almost all the way to the street since we got there and even an hour later when we drove by. I got the fat boy and it was very good with the pimento cheese on the chicken biscuit. The chicken and biscuit were hot while the pimento cheese was cold. The biscuit was also very good just on its own. They also have a lot of butters and jams you can put on your biscuit. Definitely check this place out next time you are in Charleston. read more

This is, hands down, the best place for biscuits! Their cheddar jalapeno is to die for. And there jam/butter bar is phenomenal!!! They use Storey Farm eggs, which are amazing, and their pork products are on point! The grits are creamy and delicious. Their fresh squeezed OJ is also delish. And, if you put all that together... I really enjoyed this place. I was back to visit family in South Carolina and this place was down the street from the beach house we were staying in. My uncle was too old to make the drive so I picked up a huge order to go. First off. As you can see from the pictures... there is usually a line. It was literally out the door. I got lucky and caught it at door length so I didn't have to wait outside. The line moved fairly fast, and then I saw this menu. We tried several things here, ranging from biscuits and gravy, the Vicious biscuit, and the shrimp and grits biscuit (thats what I had) When you order to go they keep everything separate so it doesn't get soggy on the drive back. I will say that in looking at the food I wish we could have eaten there. The shrimp and grits were some of the best I have ever had, and the biscuit was amazing. Fluffy, crispy outside and flaky warm inside. I also got to try their homemade jams. I especially like the two spicy jellies. I will come back to this place next time I'm near Charleston! This is my second time coming to Viscious Biscuit but this time with visitors out of town. And all three people LOVED the biscuits they got. They were very satisfied with the portions and the flavor, and they really appreciated the variety of jams and butter next to the drink dispenser. The only problem I had is the smell of the trash can when getting cups of jams and butter because that is also next to the drink dispenser. The Ranchero: Very filling and has no meat in it (great for vegetarians). Everything in the Ranchero tasted great together, as well as the fried avocado. Just the name of this restaurant had me dreaming of biscuits for a few days before we were actually able to make it in. Once we arrived, there was a long line, but it moved fast. The menu offers lots of different biscuit options from $3 - $16 depending on how wild you want to get. I went with "The Vicious" which is a cheddar & jalapeño biscuit, crispy fried chicken breast, maple sausage gravy, house cowboy candy, and a maple syrup drizzle. It was very delicious, but I probably should not have gone so sweet. Some other things that I tasted included the grits (creamy and amazing), bacon (high quality, but again too sweet), and the sweet puppies (big and definitely more like hush puppies than donuts if wondering..decent). The jam bar was nice...not as good as a Biscuithead, which the whole restaurant seemed to imitate, but always love a jam bar. The staff was friendly. In town at a baseball tour and decided to try this for breakfast. We arrived around 8:11 and the line was to the door. It doesn't take long to place your order once in the door. Casual atmosphere. We ordered the biscuits and gravy, keto bowl and old fashioned. We had to wait 20 mins for our food to be brought to us which wasn't bad considering how busy they were. All of the dishes had a good flavor. The most annoying thing was all condiments were self serve. We sat outside and since I had ordered coffee I had to walk back in with my cup of coffee to get creme and sugar. The place is clean and all the employees were very polite. As the name implies, their menu is "Biscuit" centric. Think of all the sandwiches you've had in your life and replace the rolls with biscuits. The advantage of this approach is you get a better percentage of ingredients to bread. I had their Cubano biscuit. Pork, ham, mustard, pickles and cheese. It was tasty. I felt the sandwich was a little heavier on the ham Vs pork. A higher ratio of pulled pork would have made it a better biscuit. Still damn tasty and I would order it again. My wife ordered the crab benny biscuit. It was terrific. A small complaint that they do served her the wrong sandwich but did correct it quickly. There are long lines to get into the place. I understand that it's a popular restaurant, but in my opinion, There's no excuse for there to be three registers open, but only one person manning it at the same time I can see a number of people just standing around talking to each other . Sometimes the name and/ or pics just speak for themselves and that is most definitely the case with Viscous Biscuit! Let's face it, we're in the south and most places have really good biscuits. It's pretty much a standard here. But these biscuits... Once again, these biscuits are the most insanely, over the top, creative, ridiculously filling, and satisfying biscuits that I've ever had. In my opinion Visious Biscuit takes the trophy for guilty pleasure. Funny part is, if you dine in, look at people's faces when their food arrives. Most people are shocked by the size/ presentation and then it's followed by "I shouldn't do this" and then a little bit later, "this was the best thing ever!" To add to that, they also have a full bar and everything on the menu is very reasonably priced. If you're bold enough to take on one of these monstrosities, keep in mind it is quite normal for the line to be out the door. But I must say it's deceiving, as it usually moves very quick. Also, if you wanna dine in, getting a table can be tricky. Long lines an no waiter service will make anyone want to cage fight to the death for a table. But luckily, I haven't come to that point yet. Lastly, Visious Biscuit is right next door to Bikers for Trump, so if you're not a Trump supporter, you can at least take pleasure in knowing that Viscous Biscuit has made it clear that they are not affiliated with them in any kind of way. read more

Usually we go to the Vicious Biscuits located in Summerville but the Coleman location was closer to our hotel.... The food is always great at any location we go but the dine in experience here at this location was a way to inconvenient and very unorganized. Free-flow seating is annoying. People showed up holding tables while those of us who placed dine in orders had no where to sit... ice machine out of order... no coffee but it was brewed once we requested it. The have outdoor seating, so there is some options where to sit. It is counter service, so you place your order and they give you a number for your table, and then they bring you your food when it's ready. I had the old school breakfast plate with grits and husband tried the hams biscuit. Portions are large here, so you will leave very full. I like the butter and jam bar. Vicious biscuit is by far my favorite part of my trip to Charleston/Mt Pleasant. They have a huge selection of different kinds of biscuits. I went with the flamethrower, which was a great mix of spicy yet savory. I also did the mimosa carafe which was a perfect size to split for 2 if you are wanting several mimosas. Be advised that this place gets busy and sometimes the line to wait is out the door. Luckily that didn't happen when I went on a Friday morning and we didn't have to wait too long for a seat. This food is delicious. I haven't left yet and I'm already putting on my return. The sweet potato waffle is delicious. I picked off my son's plate unashamed. Our oldest son got the fat boy, which, after he tried the three biscuits we ordered, he declared to be his favorite. My husband and I also had a bite and agreed it was great, but not our favorite of the three. I had the vicious biscuit and this was by far my favorite. It had a bit of heat, but paired with the gravy, I loved it! My husband had the flame thrower and yes, he decided this was his favorite. I liked it, but it packed a bit more heat than this lightweight could handle to eat an entire biscuit. Our youngest son, 12, got the munchkin platter and at $7 plus an extra $0.50 to upgrade to the pumpkin biscuit, it was well worth the money. Much more than we expected to get from a "kids" meal. There are many days where I have drove by Vicious Biscuit and the line is to the street. My husband and I have wanted to try this place for a long time and when we finally had the opportunity to we checked it out for lunch. We visited midweek around 2pm and the service was fast as the lunch rush was over. We ordered and sat outside. Our drinks were out in about five minutes and our actual meals came right after. Very quick! The Vicious was amazing. So much flavor and a winning combination. The Bird and Belgian was plated beautifully and the sweet potato waffle had a nice flavor to it that paired with the chicken. We loved everything! We now understand the line to the road. Wife and I were visiting the area over the weekend and foundd this gem in Mt. Pleasant not far from our hotel. Food was good, not sure it was great (my mom and grand mother made absolutely awsome biscuit). We order the Fat Boy (love pimento cheese) and The Animal Farm (not a fan of the bacon), both were good and would order the Fat Boy again. If you come on the weekend, be prepared to wait, however the line moved quick and we had no probably finding a table after we ordered. We live downtown and travel to MP for this food. Everything they do is phenomenal. The fried chicken on my sandwich was perfectly fried. They get the ratios of all the toppings just right. If you go on a weekend, it is quite the process. by the time we waited in line and got our food, it was probably 45 minutes. So don't show up starving like I did. It's a very busy operation. They only have two high chairs which is definitely not enough for a place that big and busy, though they do have some booster seats as well. The only disappointment were the beignets. They give you 4 very small pieces, it's basically a plate of whipped cream with strawberries. They are yummy though.
